Hey all, just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced static on their calls with any particular ROMs.
Recently I've been getting a lot of static in the background and if I unplug a headphone set or speaker cable from my phone it doesn't seem to catch on that I unplugged it, so the next call I get I can't hear unless I enable Speaker phone. (Or reboot the phone.)
If anyone else has experience similar symptoms with Darch's 2.0.1 ROM or with any ROM, let me know. Otherwise, it's RUU and to the Sprint store.
Seriously? No one?
I mean, not even speculation? heh

sorry man, haven't been playing around with that build in a while. You could try upgrading to my 2.1 build. It has all the features of the 2.0.1 build and more
Working on that right now... will probably make me late for work, too, hah!
I doubt it's the ROM causing problems but if this upgrade fixes it I won't complain!
The reason I am asking is I have just horrible results listening to music through the headset!
I have tried a couple different headsets with the same results, they all skip and pause like at least 5 times a minute!
As a experiment this morning I took my wifes original instinct to the gym with me and used that for an hour and it was flawless.
So anyway I was just kinda hoping it might work!
Thanks
Roman
No it doesn't...
I noticed this too. What rom are you using
I have used a2dp bluetooth with my car stereo on Darch's rom, Flip's and Damage's. They all have had the same BT hiccuping issues. Mine is more like once every five minutes, but occasionally it freaks out.
Really I am just waiting for the official 2.1 release to come out and then I will go to an AOSP build (come on Darch!). I expect this issue will be sorted out then.
I am using Damage, but it's been off with all the roms I have used! Although it does seem worse with damage! I am thinking about trading with the wife, the bluetooth at the gym is way more important to me!
It really seems to me not a lot is known about A2DP other than it seems kinda unreliable to many, but works great for some!
I really don't know what the hell is wrong, but i am tired of researching it and trying to find a fix!

Because in the official 1.5 build a2dp worked without this issue... and an official CDMA 2.1 build has not been released yet.

Ah I see, I had never tried bluetooth on 1.5 yet, so maybe I will do my nandroid and see how it works!

Post your results. I was using the stock 1.5 build, but rooted. Now I am running Damage's 2.1 build with Flips new radio.

Well I did my nandroided back to 1.5 about an hour ago, and since then I have been running around cleaning house!
In the same room with my phone absolutely no skips, when I walk out of the room a few skips and the farther away I get the more skips I get, but not important to me as the phone will be on me when I am listening to music anyway!
Using the phone while listening to music only presented a few skips as well!
Using any Rom while doing the above would have left the music skipping at least 5 times a minute!
So all in all I guess I got it solved, although I am stuck on 1.5 as it seems, but i am stuck with the question of why does it not work so well on any Roms that I have used!
Thanks to you danknee you have made me a happy man(well as happy as a man can be cleaning house) as I have spent countless hours searching for an answer to this!
Edit:
Forgot to add that I am still rooted, but all stock!
Good to hear. Your results sound about the same as mine. I use my phone in a stationary car bracket (ProClip) that is positioned about 1.5 feet away from the A2DP BT radio (Sony with built in receiver).
With this setup my 1.5 was outstanding, but all the 2.1 builds have been very sporadic. I thought it was data connection issues with the 2.1 builds, but tried locally stored music and video with the same issues (narrowing the issue down to BT).
Just wanted to give another update:
Went to the gym today and did 20 mins on the treadmill and 30 mins on the bike and about 15 mins playing B-ball! I had one skip that was like 1 100th of a second skip, could of even been the song!
Now my question: Why do most of the Roms not work very well with A2DP?
Thanks again danknee!

from other things i have read, android has some weird issue with the way it handles bluetooth, which has clearly been resolved with 1.5 given the results that i can attest to, but possibly not as high a priority for 2.x since they haven't even really gotten it out yet and probably have more basic issues to take care of first?
just a thought...

Is there any rom that can be flashed that the trackball, sound and has lwp that fully works.

is this a board rule or something?
anyways to the OP no current 2.1 is fully functional without issues. use a 1.5 if you want that, i recommend pancake without sense.
if you want a fully working 2.1 rom wait until the devs get their hands on the final build released from sprint hopefully this month?

Hi to you too.
No thanks.
Cool, thanks I am running fresh2.0d and I like this rom but the trackball light and the sound issue concerns me, because I dont know if it is fixed. I downloaded the fix but last night I got no sound again after I changed my autokiller setting,so I changed It back and it has been ringing all day, so I dont know if it is really fixed.....

mmmmm good
Fresh 2.0d has lwp (they don't work in Sense, but that is a problem with Sense), it has the trackball fixed, though all the button lights have some weird glitch, you'd have to try it to see it, but at least the trackball is in sync with those buttons. It also has all the sound working as well. I highly recommend it. I've been using it since it came out and I'd say its 100% functional with virtually no issues.
On RegawMOD 2.0.2p, I have LWP running and sticking with the regular Home, not sense, but they do stick. you need the 2 apks for it though.

I don't think it is. People have gone 20+ hours just to have the problem happen again. the fix seems to stave it off temporarily but as I have found, it seems to come back sooner or later. Oddly enough, some people just don't seem to have the bug at all. It is an issue in the audio driver of the kernel though, it is there in everyones phone. Just haven't figured out what causes the bug to surface in some peoples phones but not others.
So is there a new update because I have fresh 2.0 and the trackball did work until I dounloaded the sound fix and the trackball light went away...
So it still has the 7 screens or is it the one screen?

Every so often with 2.1 fresh my phone has no speaker sound in or out unlees you reboot the phone and lwp is live wallpapers.....
Just wondering as it seems it's much better out of the box than what we have!
I was also reading the moment forums and it seems there still convinced that we will get the update before them, seemed kinda strange to me!
Thanks

I thought about flashing to see what would happen, but it seems the process is a bit different than on our heros!
don't just flash the leak, you'll very possibly wind up with a nice brick.
LOL Flash the leak and tell us what happens.
Ya I kinda figured that, but I like to take one for the team!

What bluetooth crap? I've been running 2.1 since I got my hero (only ran 1.5 long enough to drive home from Best Buy. Already had the rom downloaded and my pc set up for rooting before I even went to buy the phone).
I've never experienced one single problem with bluetooth, across at least 10 different 2.1 roms I've tried.
You'll be giving up a lot of standard features... like pinch to zoom (although I hear they finally got touble tap to zoom). Just FYI

Bluetooth problems seem to be about 50/50 with hero owners!
I seem to be in the 50% that bluetooth sucks ass on any 2.xx rom, and works flawless on 1.5.
Sometimes I wonder if all heros were hand built, it would explain all the different problems some have and some don't!

no i think that everyone uses the BT diffrently ... my BT on the hero suckss ass on 2.1 and works great on 1.5 .. i have a car radio that i can play music form my phone and at the same time do navigation voice ( from the phone also ) ..on 1.5 it works great ..on 2.1 it works for 5min and then both sounds are gone and i get a FC on BT driver , my audio BT headsets on 1.5 works great on 2.1 it just craps out every couple mins ... cant even use it at all...
I guess that explains it. I only use bluetooth for a small headset and file transfers. Both work flawlessly.
I don't use a2dp at all, which now that I think about it, is what I've heard most people say they've had trouble with....
I can do this. Expect a port in 10 minutes, or whenever it's done downloading.

By small headset I assume you mean just a single ear piece?
If thats the case it works great on any Rom I have tried, it just streaming music where it cuts out and skips a minimum of 5 times per minute of song, and forget doing anything else on your phone!

From what I hear there are supposed to be BT enhancements in the update!

Yep, the single earpiece with a mic used for phone calls, not headphones for listening to music.
Even though both uses are transferring audio, they actually use completely different bluetooth profiles, which I suppose explains why one works well and the other doesn't.

your headphones? noise does get picked up. Especially if u use the cheapo ones samsuck included with our epics.
Try not moving the headphones cord and gently scroll. if no noise. then ur pickin up noise.
Does voodoo control come with frankenstein? I can't remember. Aren't people reporting this is a possible cause? It seems a lot of members report similar issues.

Cheap? They're actually pretty good quality headphones, the fact that they're in-ear makes them that much better.

It's not your headphones. It is a common problem among samsung devices.
It is dependant on the kernel you are using. Twilight 1.0.4 and the new Bonsai Kernel are the only ones I know of to not have the scratching.
Voodoo has nothing to do with it either.

Vodoo is not in the ROM, I bet if he changes the kernel it will be gone, try DRocksatr's clean kernel 1.0.4, no vodoo in that either... We never narrowed it down but I've never had this when there is no vodoo to be found in the ROM...

I've only read that Twilight 1.0.4 didn't have it. Never encountered it in Frankenstein v1 with it.
Bonsai kernel has been good universally. SRF, Frankenstein, Supernova, you name it. Genocide however, has always been scratchy.

I run SRF 1.1.1 and never noticed it until a restored from a backup relatively recently. I'm not saying this is what caused it, I may have never noticed before somehow. But I definitely did not have the noise on earlier SRF builds without voodoo control.

Wow maybe you have a hardware issue then i would odin back to stock and see if the noise is still there if it is take it to a sprint corporate store and tell them you have talked to customer service dont bother calling there all reading from a script anyways and tell them they told you to bring it in. ( i would take the roms off your sd card to)
Its not the headphones. I currently use bose on ear headphones.. I even switchd headphones. Same problem.. tried more than one kernel as well.. this problem literally just starting happening out of nowhere. I even switched from srf to frankenstien.. I think it might be hardware unfortunately. It only happens when I scroll the screen or I open up another app or something. And no I didn't drop my phone
