Ok guys, this is pissing me off... I'm not even kidding. I've sworn at my computer for like 5 minutes now. Whenever my phone is plugged in, Windows constantly makes the Unmount/Mounting sound. No matter what I do, it doesn't stop, aside from unplugging the phone. WTF. Has this happened to anyone else? It's annoying the $hit out of me.

Only happens for me when first plugging in the phone, rebooting phone while it's plugged into the computer, or unplugging the phone from the computer.
Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging
Disable that.
and then superuser apps don't work. I have debugging on and don't get that. I think you have a bad cable. Try another one.

Is there a way to prevent the Vibrant from unmounting the storage every time I plug in a USB cable? I don't need to transfer files from my power plug, and when I want to charge my phone from my computer, it stops my media player/everything else until I go turn the USB connection off. Super annoying.

There is a few different options, you can try each to see which works the best for you. Probably Ask each time would stop any automatic stuff from happening,. But its up to you.
That's what it's on, and it still does it.
AHA! It's not the droid system at all, it's DoubleTwist.

Yeah I had that problem too when I "had" double twist installed

The application Winamp Beta has the same way to solve this problem.
Hi All,
This is a bit odd and only just started. When the phone is plugged into the usb it goes crackers. I can't tell you exactly what it does as it's random but it's things like, it starts going into sounds and changing settings etc etc. It's as if the screen is being pressed but it's not being touched. Unplug the usb and it's happy again.
Any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT: Just notcide it only does it when you connect it as phone memory. Charge only is fine. Phone rooted with Gingerbreak.

This behavior started last night after activating Monitor power usage in the battery settings section. Deactivating it didnt help. I tried removing battery and that has not worked either. Im down to going back to stock or maybe even reinstalling an earlier Miui backup I have to see if that works first. Any advice would be appeciated, thanks.

And what's the problem with the screen turning on when you connect usb? It's normal and it also happens in stock roms.
I don't know if it's the same thing, but something similar happened to me too. What i did was just cleaning the micro-usb connector on the bottom of the phone. This never happened to me anymore.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
you just created a connection between 2 pins in the connector, the same as when you plug in the charger, its normal behaviour, dont worry about it.
Go into Application settings (or Development, can't remember where it is on MIUI) and turn off "keep screen awake". It's for developers who don't want the phone to sleep while debugging.
Ok I think I finally found what was causing this. It only happens when USB debugging is turned off. When I turn it back on Im able to charge without the phone automatically booting back up. Im not sure if this is a bug. Should it be behaving like this?

Verrified that and its turned off. Turning debugging mode off causes my issue though. I find that kinda wierd.
USB debugging mode has always been weird on MIUI - on my GS2 it doesn't recognise that the USB cable has been disconnected until you reboot the phone.
Thanks for the tip, I've been wondering the same thing myself. This was a pain when I was trying to charge my phone at work with it off. Thanks.
PS: I really wish people would properly read the post before answering with the standard "it's normal, don't worry about it" etc. See it far too often.
Havnt been able to find a fix so far. What I do is I keep debugging mode off for everyday use and just turn it on when I need to recharge the phone over night. That way the phone stays off.
Ok so:
Had CM 10.2 nothing else crazy (unlocked/rooted)
One day wifi started acting up (kept dropping) and USB started not being recognized.
Decided that maybe software might be acting up, switched to PA 3.99RC2: FUll Wipe, reinstall
Next day riding out to a meeting phone starts rebooting randomly while running Google maps and music
Keeps locking up and rebooting
Getting really hot
Turn phone off, go to meeting
Phone will not turn back on (solid red dot by usb)
Go home
Recovery no go, phone will not charge on wall or USB charging at all.
Red dot comes on when plugged into wall then turns off after about 30min, plugging/unplugging turns the solid red dot on again.
Put on wireless charger, for an hour
Phone boots up, at 60% charge
USB only charges phone does not send any kind of signal that it is there, no windows sound, nothing in device manager
No charging light at all, but the icon shows as charging.
Have airdroid installed, might try stock google, but it looks like something hardware related.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
Since I don't have ADB working how do I return to stock? (I presume unpackage the distro, airdroid them over, and then install individually?)
I called Google and they say that if they deem that the phone works, not only will they keep the phone I sent them, but they will also charge me for another nexus 4, this is kinda BS and wiht the Nexus 5 around the corner it seems even more BS.
Not sure what to do, as I have about another 1.5 weeks of warranty left. The USB seems jacked up but I am not sure if there are other diagnostics to confirm.

Thanks for the tip, I was just wondering how this sort of malfunction happens. I never really used the USB port after I got wireless charging, so maybe some light dropping? I dunno
So I have a pretty interesting problem and I'm hoping somebody here could give some advice if they've ever had this problem or knows how to fix it. So here's what happened, I have a galaxy S8 and I tried plugging it into my computer to charge it, and it prompted the question something along the lines of, "this computer wants to access data on your phone" and it gave me the option allow or deny. Pretty standard stuff. So I pressed allow, and the same question was prompted again. So I thought huh that's weird, and I kept pressing allow over and over and nothing was happening it just kept coming up again. Pretty annoying. Anyways, I gave up on that after a while and went to plug it into the wall charger like I normally do, and I was surprised to see that it wasn't charging anymore even when I plug it into the wall. I tried switching ports, I tried switching cables, and nothing worked it just quit charging. And I'm just wondering what could have caused this problem? The only thing I can think of is that my computer short circuited the charging port or something, but when I plugged it into the computer again after that it still did the same thing with it asking me that question over and over again, so it obviously recognized that a device is being plugged in which means the charger port should be working fine. Another thing, when all this happened my phone was at 10% battery life, and I tried to turn my phone off and plug it into the wall that way to troubleshoot and see if that would make it want to charge. It didn't charge, and I tried turning it on again but now it is at 0% all the sudden, so I don't know why that happened either. And here's the kicker, this same thing actually happened to TWO of my devices. It's just the first time I didn't realize that it was my computer that messed it up, I just thought that my phone was defective, but it was covered by my insurance and they sent me another one for free(which is awesome). It wasn't until today when it happened again and it clicked that it might not be a defective phone but somehow my computer messed it up. Anyways, I know this was long winded but I wanted to be detailed so you have all the information. If anybody knows how to fix this your advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.
,
to be sure it is not a software problem, open the "USBSettings" by dialing "*#0808#". Try different settings (it shouldn't matter which one you choose, it's just about the resetting of whatever is in there. then connect it to your charger. If it doesn't work, I would reboot the device and try again...
good luck!

Thanks for the response. So I did try that and nothing changed so I guess it's not a software problem. And I actually have an update to the story. I bought a wireless charger and I figured that would work for sure, and my phone turns on but it just stays at 0% and doesn't charge at all. So I really don't know why it would do that and that makes me think that it's something wrong with the battery? I really dont know haha

I have USB 3.0 on my computer but I believe when it happened I plugged it into a USB 2.0. I've had issues with my USB ports acting weird on my computer before. Maybe it has something to do with that?

It's very possible as I have seen a high number of issues with USB 3.0+ and they s8 series. Always try to use 2.0 with this phone. Ive had 2 s8+ have their charging port trying to tether threw 3.0. Had to send them both in. I haven't fount the exact conflict yet but am working on it.
if you recently put it in water, it wont charge until its dry. I doubt this is the problem but its a suggestion. can you boot it up when its plugged in by holding Vol Up, Power, and Bixby? If not try the same thing with volume down. Some old phones booted up like this when there was no other way.
Good luck, this sounds like it sucks ;(
