sent your x2 for service? How long - XPERIA X2 General

As the title says, how long was your x2 away for service? I guess even x1 repairs could be of interest.
I understand this may vary but your answers can give me an approximated time frame.
Mine has been away for a week now and I've missing it bad.
Thanks, A.D

Dont they give you a website where you can enter your repair number and postcode to check the progress?

With my X1 the turn around was 5 days including the postage days. Depends what's wrong. If it is OS related, it will not be fixed until 6.5.3 comes out, well that is if SE gets their **** together and does it right!

Hi. no they didn't and i'm not surprised. The place I bought it competes in price and nothing else. Ok, the support department people behaved nice so no complaints. Anyhow, even though i've been in the business (some 15 years ago) i don't know if customers in Sweden gets a possibility to follow their service matters via web or others.

Had a look at my receipt I got when I left it for service and found the Company name the store uses for service. Googled that name and yes, they did have a status service.
Found out that it arrived today I don't know what postal service they use but one cannot avoid to wonder if they use horse and carriage (go Sweden, go!).
I am a bit worried that there have been so few answers to my question here. Of course it could be that x2 never brake down but I seriously doubt that.
It could be that this really isn't the place to hang around if you own a X2, after all this is a x1 forum.
Na, my guess is we who own ourselves a X2 is a very small group. That feeling increases when you look around at other forums. Most posts were made before the phone was released.
To me the phone hasn't been that big flop, the problems is not that big (except screwed the update process up hard) and I miss the little bastard.

Cha!
In Czechia the local Sony Ericsson has a "great" policy that one can't send a faulty phone directly to the authorized service (only one here), but it has to be done via the retailer.
So:
angry customer -> retailer -> authorized service -> retailer -> even more pissed off customer
Awesome, isn't it?
Even if the retailer send the phone to the service and back to the customer quickly, it is at least eight days for the post only.
SE is doing its best to be kicked out of market by Samsung, HTC, LG and to some degree by Nokia (in the business sphere).

I had problems with X1 last year. It was in repairs for 60 or so days from 1.12.2009 till around 1.2.2010 but afther that they gave me a new X2. X1 is a hard to be without phone. X2 in not as satisfying as X1 but i have to live with it now.

Look at its better points - larger screen and much better keyboard
Well, 60 days, that should gave you two X2s for this!

regarding warranty service I think it's normal to go through the retailer. In Sweden the warranty stands between customer and retailer, not customer -> service center or customer -> SonyEricsson. So even though it sucks i can understand this "rules".
You're mentioning some other brands and i'm curious, does these have better customer service? Faster repairs? These are honest questions since i feel that the speed of service on my X2 is too slow.
Every single phone today regardless of price can do so much more than just make calls and vibrate. It's a media player, it helps you with your passwords, it's a calender, it's a navigator, it's a camera, it texts and so on and when one of them fails you loose all functions during service. back in the good old days when the phone was just a phone service time was around a week, pretty ironic.
I'm using another phone during my service now but it has replaced just the phone functionality (it's an good old days phone ) and it isn't enough by far.

Well, this is my first time I had to sent my phone to service. Otherwise sometimes I warranty faulty goods through the seller or directly to authorized service. It depends, often retailers offer quick exchange of goods (on place) just to maintain the customer.
As for mobile brands and if they allow phones to be sent directly into service (in Czechia):
HTC - YES
Nokia - YES
Samsung - YES
LG - YES
Sony Ericsson - NO
SE actually changed its policy about two years ago.
(Btw, AFAIK Apple iPhone has a very, very bad service here... but does not trouble ME )

After two weeks without my precious i've had too much time on my hands and I've found information on different specific issues. For once, i can follow the service progress on the service centres homepage (it's been "arrived" for a week now ) and more I now know I could have contacted a few service centres directly by visit or by mail.
More interestingly, I just called my store and found out they have a policy no service should take more than three weeks. The guy more or less promised me a replacement one week from today if the phone isn't ready by then. This is quite interesting in discussing the possibility to contact the service centre directly. If the service runs smoothly, a direct contact can of course speed up the service but if it comes to a halt due to lack of components, replacement modules or whole phones I guess it be smoother to speak to the store where you bought it.
So there is a light in the tunnel, I see it! BUT, three weeks is not acceptable, not in a million light years. I'll have to take some sort of action to prevent this from happening again. See if i can get some sort of stand still insurance or whatever. Perhaps buy a X1 as a back up or something (i have cursed myself more than once for selling my old one).
To replace my X2 whit something else seems impossible at the moment. The only competitor is HTC Touch Pro 2 with hardware keyboard but it's getting old, isn't it? 6.1, doh.

29 days!!!
And while they solved some problems (they exchanged the PCB), actually there are two new:
- The SE games are gone! Only the default are present. Can they be downloaded?
- The battery cover makes clicking sound when I press the upper left corner. Is this normal?! It wasn't before.

2 times for about 20 to 25 day's and the 3th time was about a month but i got a new x2 and it was the same **** like the old !

well i returned the x2 and got all my money back... never again SE 4 sure i was useing thyr phones for 10 years but now its over
gonna get the iPhone 3GS and a nice i pad)

HTC Europe repair

I couldn't fix the freeze after standby mode problem and the screen allignment so I decided to send it back to htc europe repair centre. Did anyone of you send it back for repair or replacement to htc europe and if yes how many days did it take to receive the device again? And my second question is: did they fix the problems of your device? Take this thread like a poll thing for angry and disappointed tytn users
We have MANY threads of disappointed users about HTC service.
If you are one of these, as I told to someone else, say it LOUD on Internet, in any group, in any on line news, the only thing that a big company understand is the voice of SHAREHOLDERS, we are simply some poor STAKEHOLDERS, but if we make a LOUD noise the may be SHAREHOLDERS will hear us and this ridicolous service will change.
If you are not familiar with stock and marketing language you can search the STAKEHOLDER history...
I bought my TYTN on Internet, I,ve no problem to send it everywere in Europe, using UPS but I want it swapped, even REPAIRED, but in few days, and with a first class customer service.
we have a service here ... (chose the worst county for services, we are below!)
HTC... can you hear our stakes?
@takis999 I sent my TyTN for repair to HTC-UK (in milton keynes England) and the contract i signed and sent with the handset states:
1. ESTIMATED TURNOVER PERIOD
We estimate that we will normally be able to complete orders and return the units to most mainland addresses in the UK within 5 working days from receipt of the unit. Where the repair requires parts to be specially ordered or delivery to remote areas of the UK, or to other countries, this may take longer. One of our Customer Service representatives will contact you in such cases. HTC EU will endeavour to complete all orders within 5 working days from clearance of payment or warranty authorisation.

Bearing in mind that applies to the UK im not sure how other countries fair with that but seems they do endeavour to fix my handset and send it back to me within a 5 working day period which is great! A guy on another forum (Masseur on Esato.com) also sent his for repair and it was sent back within 5 day...and hes not from the UK!!!! The guy i spoke to at the service centre was VERY VERY helpfull and he informed me that HTC knew about the SA problem and will fix ANY TyTNs (NOT orange, voda or tmobile handsets though...they get sorted out by voda/orange etc...because thats who the contract is with). If the TyTN is less than 14 days old then a replacment will be done, otherwise a repair but im cool with that...standard stuff really
If you wish to wait i can tell you how long my repair took from sending (yesterday 12/10/06) to arrival back here (unknown??)??
@sergiopi Can you add to your profile your Network and Country as that would help???
profile added, thanks for suggesting.... I am in Italy, in Rome (every roads brings to..., except HTC's ), I've seen were you are from.. so you know STAKEHOLDERS meaning
Also MY contact from HTC was very helpfull, but she wasn't involved in repair. She gaves only a 199 number (special and expensive numbers), then from this number I had a second number, in Rome, just to know that they collect and send the phones to the first number, but they are not HTC, they don't know even that is a company involved in phone business, more or les 15-20 days, no courtesy service.
INDECENTE in italian
Some service is available in Russia.
It is more oriented for cases with "device does not boot", "damaged bootloader", "stuck at bootloader", "flash with wrong image file", etc.
However, it does not cover parts replacement.
In terms of timing, it takes 1-2 work days for fixing a problem, additionally DHL, EMS or what shipping carrier would you prefer, to organise shipping between your country and Russia.
You need to describe your situation first, before shipping device, by mail or by phone, to make sure you will not send a device which was crashed or droped in a ocean.
We have to admit also that local HTC service centers are not satisfactory, and sometimes even refuse to accept xda, although on warranty.
rgds.,
iStrium
Keep in mind that by contracts HTC is not allowed to perform direct service/repair on HTC products sold via the big service providers. Another reason for us to welcome HTC´s decision to push its own brand and open sales and service centres everywhere they have a market. XDA is a O2 brand, and at least in Germany O2 replaces faulty HTC phones within a few days.
HTC is directly in the market, but NOT in the SERVICE market .
They just sell directly, not SUPPORT directly. they want more revenues , not be prepared to have CUSTOMERS!
Well done HTC! I understand isn't in the DNA of the company, but Steve, Bill, are you sure you want this?
It is very clear, for sure it is not co-business to keep service centers for HTC. But to have number of local contracts with service companies. To authorize their service centers, train staff, provide some equipment and technology enabling them to perform reasonable "customer care". What I was saying, I guess, is that it is not the case in Russia. Athorised HTC service centers in Moscow is a joke, they have no clue how to run business properly.
Additionally, HTC does not give them a lot of "knowledge". They know how to perform basic tests, no more. As the result, no surprise, there are un-authorised service centers, and they do pretty good. They have good equipment and what is more important knowledge. Otherwise, I think, they would not survive.
I am saying this because went thru the repair cycle and saw how it works (meaning did not work). Globally, pretty sure, it depends on country and location. On a reality HTC does not care much about customers. They jumped on a market, but not ready for all aspects, especially service. And finally, to be honest, non of such companies are interested to spend much money to provide good customer service, it is very little profit of it.
So, we have to take care about ourselves.
rgds,

Were you satisfied with SE's service after replacing/repairing your X1?

So I've been reading the "let us file a complain to SE..." thread lately cuz well...you guess it...my phone developed a crack.
Anyway, I did see that some people have been getting "reconditioned units" that look worse than the ones they already have.
So, how many of you guys have had problems with the service offered by SE/Authorized dealers?
Really interested in this poll, since I just let my X1 to an authorized center...
However, I must admit that I am really unsatisfied with the repai time: they told me that I have to wait 15 working days! Man, what was the premium price for?!
I sent my phone in Tuesday and they still haven't received the phone even though the service center is 35miles away from here...
Add 3-5 working days to get my phone fixed plus another week to get my phone back...so I think I'm there as well
I got back the same phone after I sent it in for a software glitch that I failed repairing myself. It got back in exactly the same condition and earlier than I had thought.
My X1's screen started blacking out when slid open, so I reluctantly sent it in, having heard a lot about cracked plastics and scratched battery covers.
I got it back in just 3 days, which is apparently unusual even for SE service here. No extra scratches or damage.
Oh, and they didn't notice the Hard-SPL...
Well - i got my replacement through vodafone so it doesnt really count
Reading some of the Dutch Forums (e.g. tweakers.net), the average time is 6 weeks for Netherlands. Some poor guy waited 19 weeks.
http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1326523/20
That's almost HALF A YEAR.
Mine had stylus crack, battery crack, chipped case in three places.
4 weeks since I sent it in, and counting..
OMFG!
How is that possible???
Jeez man...4 weeks? How is it that you haven't killed them already?
If I don't have it by the end of next week I'm gonna drive there myself and have a talk with them...
wow....this is pathetic.
some of the buttons arent working smoothly these days..which means i am screwed if i send it for repair
seems im d only one wit a good story bout this..i got my phone back like 4 days
I sent my x1 to service because left-right buttons plus all other front buttons and touchpad were getting dead.i have to wait 15 min and reset phone 5 or 10 times to get device normal.f*ck sake!i am on contract with my service provider.they said i must wait minimum 2weeks just for answer REPAIR or Change.afterwards i must wait another 2weeks for repair or get new unit.i am gonna have big fight with SE.i am very disapointed.i am not gonna buy any other sony products even sony movies films
I went to a Vodafone store with repair service. Somehow they are authorized to repair phones for warranty. I only had to show my phone, they ordered the parts and they texted me when they received the parts. Then I could wait for it on location while they repaired my phone. I think that's a great service but it's more thanks to Vodafone. I live in the Netherlands, The Hague.

Hmmm, yes, so:
- SE repair service sucks
- Vodafone is great
But I really think that 4weeks is the maxiimum amout of time I would wait for a repair, not just a phone repair but whatever else. Never experienced a repair time longer than 4 weeks, and I would have been really upset hearing about 19 weeks!!!
But what about the repaired phone? Apart from Vodafone people, in ehat condition were your "new" phone? can you be more verbose than the poll?

Hmmm, u were lucky. This is what the Netherlands is like most of the time Mine was out of contract, but the problem is not the shop I went through in Rotterdam - been getting my phones from them for a few years now. I suspect it's the guys in NL who bought the service contract from Sony.

Perfectly repaired, but unfortunately now, a month later, I have 3 cracks. The parts are in so I have to go to the store again. I don't want to go to the store twice every month...
Well,
I brought my phone to an SE Service Center around my Corner. The Display shaked a little. I brought it in on the 7.5.09
Those guys sent the phone to the Xperia guys. Seems that only some people can fix it.
Well, I have not got it back yet. :-(
So I called the Xperia line. The told me, that they did not received it yet...
But the guy was friendly. He is now starting to find my phone. We will see what happens.
Cheers

SONYERICSSON or a Network Provider???
Come on, in order for this poll to have any impact or make any sense, it should include at least WHICH Country and if SE direct or through a Service/Network Provider! Otherwise its just hot air!
I waited 5/6 weeks for my replacement to arrive aftre the sound went completely.
After SE took delivery initially I received an email to let me know it had arrived. Then nothing for a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and so on and so on.
The tracking website was never updated and I never received emails updating me on the progress. I phoned them all the time.
After 5/6 weeks I received a refurbished phone which [TBH] is in better condition than the phone I sent for repair, no consolation really.
Yea...WHAT tracking site? They never even acknowledged the fact that they received it. I had to phone today, to find out they got it on Friday. Even though I ASKED to be informed when they would actually get it...nada.
Anyway, when I talked to the representative and told him I want my phone repaired not replaced (because mine is scratch free and in perfect condition otherwise) he was like..."OH...we'll see what we can do"
People, how hard is to replace a back cover???
But I suppose it's good business taking good scratch free phones and replacing them with "functionally equivalent" but with cosmetic damaged ones...
@michaelthemage
The poll specifies SE Service.
And how many countried would you have included in the poll?
In my opinion, in makes no relevance what country you are in (even though I KNOW there are big differences between SE service centers). SE Service is a global thing, having an international warranty (at least European for me) so in my opinion the quality of their services should be viewed as a whole.
I for one bought my phone in France but since I'm doing an internship in the UK I sent it to Banbury.
So I do think the poll does make sense and I give thanks to all who have voted/will vote and who told me their SE related stories.
I got a global warranty card with my phone but it wasn't much help when my screen died. It is supposed to be a vip service for X1 owners where you can get a replacement phone the same day at any SE service center. Not quite. If you're in a place where they don't sell it, don't expect SE in your home country to send one to the service center you're visiting, they will not, period. And if you look close at the support site there's a somewhat hidden page that shows country by country what is (not-) available.
I shipped it off with fedex to the dealer, who said they will send one in return asap if I paid the courier. It cost me about 100 usd. When they received it, they changed their mind and said they needed the original box and booklets... and they couldn't just replace the phone (ten days since I bought it) and let me send the stuff when I returned home. Cheers...
That said, when I could deliver the box I got a new phone right away from the dealer. SE had no desire to help at all.
I don't like buying phones from operators, rather be free to choose who bills me for the calls, but if the operators service team are better at customer care, I may just do that next time.

Warranty service UK<----more than Poor

HI Guys
1st
I used to had HTC Blackstone. After 1st warranty service I've received Blackstone with new touch panel and screen!!!But with death pixels more than 3!!!So it went back to Miltone Keynes service centre. After 2weeks+ I was happy owner of serviced Black100.
2nd
My HD2 is going to Miltone Keynes again after 1st warranty service.
Just day after I've received my phone
Again death pixel on screen, screen is not align in housing.
HOUSING is kind of secondhand!!! it is obviously not my!!! It has scratches on different places.
Maybe missing kapton around speaker.<--light is coming up from grid.Cool
Looks like serviced somewhere far far east you know that Communist country?!!!
For now I hate Miltone Keynes service centre.
They are trying us a stupid costumers?!!?
Lied on service explanation in both cases!!
Waisting my time!!!, their money and our green planet
Only who is profiting is UPS delivery company.
S..t happens after 1y7m on HTC I was without Phone for 1m2weeks+
PS:sorry for my funny Engl......
Yes they are shockingly bad.
My blackstone had newton rings so as I'm near them I dropped it in.
They wanted to charge me nearly £200 to repair something which in other countries they cover under warranty.
Thing is, they hadn't sent me a link to the tracking page so I only found out when I called up after 2 weeks for an update. Had I left it much longer they would have disposed of my phone without telling me.
I arranged with the call centre to be able to go in and pick my phone up but they hadn't told the repair centre so they were baffled with my arrival.
I then took the phone back to the store I bought it from for them to try and get a warranty repair, they got the phone back with a report of "no dead pixels found" when the fault report sent with the phone didn't mention dead pixels. The store offered to try again but having been without my phone for a month I wasn't keen, so they put it through as an insurance claim and I got a new phone the next morning.

I feel sorry for all UK HTC underwarranty c....
Looks like it's a group of poor paid people.
Or they just traying cheat on us.
By the way It's not real HTC they are just ''official service''
Hope HTC will change it soon!!!
SO say no to Miltone Keynes service centre or be realy careful.....
One good thing about it being in the UK is UK consumer laws are pretty decent.
Merely mentioning trading standards when I was in reception got them to change their tune and go get me my phone.
Had I a spare phone I could have reported them to trading standards for not fixing newton rings under warranty when I could provide evidence that in other countries they were allowing them as warranty faults.
I hope UK law will be behind us if what New Scientist said recently is true. Apparently, touch screens have a limited life because of the manufacturing process and rare earth metals used. They said most last just 18 months but that luckily, most users upgrade before then. My screen is already losing accuracy making text input difficult. After spending £500 I expect my phone to be working for alot more than 18 months.
that sux for y'all. Can y'all not have insurance that covers this for you. In the USA I pay for the insurance through t-mobile. When my hd2 kept overheating, I bricked it on purpose (just to make sure they didn't try and say there was nothing wrong), called t-mobile, told them it wouldn't turn on. They overnighted me a phone. Didn't cost me anything except the monthly insurance fee.

can understand how a screen might wear out if you dont use a screen protector, with one however it should last for a very long time... unless i dont understand the tech
just about warranty
this is not a tread about screen lifetime.
I just disagree withy way how guys in UK --> Miltones Keynes working.
Isurence if fine but it can't fix errors done by service centre.
Im not sure if my insurence is covering 1 second repair.
I don't know what the problem is. I had the crazy screen sensitivity issue, agged lines, random key presses.
Had the phone 9 months, called them, tried the latest ROM, same problem, sent it back, 2 weeks later it reappeared working perfectly, no problems, no scratches.
I coudn't be happier with their service.

The great thing about the consumer rights acts is you are entitled to a reasonable length of use out of a product, so even if it comes with just a 1 month warranty and it fails after 3 months, if you can argue that it was resonably expected to last that long then the law is on your side and you're entitled to repair/replacement.

Insurance is for damage/loss, not breakdowns. Breakdowns should be covered by warranty/consumer protection laws, after all, if you're sold a shoddy item, why should it cost you to bring it up to the quality item you paid for in the first place?
Of course if something isn't covered by the warranty there's nothing stopping someone damaging their phone and claiming on insurance for a replacement.
Generally we have lower premiums and an excess to pay in the event of a claim, although you could find a policy with no excess but higher premiums.
Well
my HD2 is again on the way to service centre.
Let's wait for it!
I was just havig look all around my HD2 Looks like they found some used one in better contidion.Replace the sticker with IMEI an SN.-->Maybe they've put even my HW in to it.because IMEI and SN is still same----->second hand housing, screen with death pixels, sreen was't align in housing and few small s..ts.

Personally, I would e-mail HTC both UK headquarters and their Taiwan headquarters and explain how their repair service is unacceptable and is affecting their brand image as a producer of quality phones.

Good Idea but have you got Email adr... to HTC Headquarters??
Hi..
Just let you know my experiences of HTC & my HD2
Had a problem with the USB charging socket, it was loose/broken - the phone would no longer charge. Contacted T-Mobile UK and they asked me to send it via one of their shops for repair, which I duly did. It went to SBE in Milton Keynes (T-Mobs official repairer) who found water ingress (??) and therefore claimed the damage was OOW. So I contact SBE who agreed their report was wrong and that the damage was in fact caused by crushing or dropping (??) & was still OOW, they then returned the phone to the shop still broken.
So I emailed T-Mobs customer service and they suggested that if I was not happy (as if I would be) I should get a second opinion from HTC UK themselves and provided a phone number. I contacted them and they arranged for the phone to be collected. In the meantime I searched the web and found a few people having issues similar to mine with the USB port so I collected as much evidence as I could and printed and packed it in with the phone before they collected it, along with a letter explaining that I, and many others, did not accept that the phone was 'Fit for purpose'...
2 weeks after they picked it up, a replacement arrives on my doorstep!!!, same serial number, different IMEI and definitely a different phone. During the time that they had it they never contacted me to say what they were doing and the online repair tracker just indicated that they had received my phone.
Since I've had the phone, which is faultless, I have had 2 calls and 1 email from HTC asking me to complete a customer satisfaction form!!!
So - I think HTC UK, are, with a bit of persuasion perhaps, ... Brilliant!.. However, T-Mob won't be getting my business again...
Milton Keynes (T-Mobs official repairer) = HTC service centrum

Problem is still in guys>>>>> Milton Keynes (T-Mobs official repairer)---->IT's HTC official service centree as well!!!!
Im sure all HTC from any NetProvider must be fix in Milton Keynes anyway.
Hmm..
I did ask the question when I spoke to HTC and the guy on the phone assured me that they were not SBE, even though both addresses were in Milton Keynes..
To be fair, the addresses I had were different as was the paperwork!

Worst service from sony india.replaced phone 6 times.

Dont buy any Xperia series [specially Xperia z series]....Their after sales service is pathetic. ....Just regretting now that i purchased this mobile.......feeling disgusted.
My phone has been replaced 6 times consecutively with some manufacturing defects in each replacement unit. My 1 month 11 days warranty of total 1 year warranty period has totally got wasted in these replacements procedures.
I am filing a case in consumer court against this worst service provided by sony and also for cheating the customer. I would request all of you not to purchase this mobile. Because Later if there happens to be some problem in your phone then you will be in big trouble . Warranty also wont help you.
I dont know how a big company like sony can treat its customers like this. When i visit service centre there are atleast 2-3 people everytime having some kind of problem with their xperia z.Some have usb port problem...some have dead pixels.....black dot in camera...screen dead....and list goes on.
How come sony sony has released its flagship phone with so many problems. As from my experience i would suggest all of you to stay away from sony. Neways this is my last sony product. ANd its your wish to listen or not.
But this is my bad experience with sony. They advertise their product in a very good way but fail miserably at providing service .
The picture below is the same replacement unit which i was given at service centre .Can you beileve it? Check the patch .
Contrary to you I've had the best service ever when my XZ had an issue. They gave me a new one immediately in the store and there is nothing wrong with my replacement
Very happy customer here! I live in Belgium

You were given 6 replacements and yet it's a bad service?
You say that you received the 3 phones on the pictures like that, so why did you accept them in the first place?
Yes some units have some malfunctions, but tell me which phone doesn't, tell me which company has perfect customer service?

Yeah i didnt accept that phone and left the phone at service centre for replacement[pics were taken at service centre].They issued me a new box replacement again on 3rd September which was having 3 black dots in middle of screen...........
I have just shared my bad experience with Sony India . I am unable to use the phone since 30 July[i.e.40 Days]. Now the phone is with service centre and the matter has been escalated.
@Dsteppa You are getting it wrong. These 3 images are the same replacement unit pictures.Just taken from different views. And i have posted this because even though the case was forwarded to higher officials, Sony india had provided me such kind of phone for 6th time replacement.

that phone looks like a used phone and under no circumstances is fit to be a replacement, just look at the dust.
Well there have been guys to get their phone in 3-4 days i have been stuck without one since 19 days now, even though i told them that i will be leaving India for 2 months, the senior execs up at xperia support tell me they will do their best and call me back but sadly they do not. So this tuesday if no updates or solutions are given, il be whacking them. I have to leave this wednesday.

Which service centre in India ?
Could you be more specific, rather than ranting.
Sorry if i seem skeptical because in my experience most of such posts at both HTC and Sony forums at XDA by accounts created just before posting turn out to be fake ones mostly paid out by Samsung.
6 phones.
All faulty??
Guess I'm lucky.
Not one issue since buying in March.
Best phone I've owned sorry.

Mind you language buddy. I am not acting over here. I have just posted what i have been experiencing since July and about the service provided to me from sony india. I have been using sony products. SO i am not against this product but against the service which is being provided. And also i am not supporting any other mobile manufacturer.Infact I have myself not used any products other than sony.
SO idiot first read the post and then reply accordingly.
If moderators feel this is fake then i request you to delete this thread. Neways it wouldnt matter to anyone unless someone experiences it.
And the service centre name is Mobile technology in Ghatkopar East,Mumbai,India.
Thes service centre people are helpful But they are just the intermediate who just provide me the mobile received from company. And thus my post is against this service from sony india which is providing such faulty units to these authorized service centre.
I have had an amazing experience from Sony. They replaced my phone in 1 day and gave me a brand new one. I had the mic problem. The new replacement works without any problems. By the way replacement from Sony, Pune, India.

It sounds like your problem lies with the service centre, not Sony itself. A service centre acts as an agent of another company, but is not part of it.
Maybe you should call Sony direct and tell them how you have been treated by the service centre, so they can refer you to another one, and possibly investigate. Sony don't want a service centre giving them a bad name.
I never had any problems with this phone, although if I have any problems with this phone I just take the backglass off and start replacing parts. Same as I did with my adhessive glue and backglass haha. I'm very happy with this phone and won't be buying the Z1 lol

Surprising... I had a different experience. After they initially tried to blame me for the screen cracking while being handled by the service centre rep, not only did they replace my six month old 6602 with a brand new retail 6603, I also became friendly with the regional manager Sony India, and he's promised me complimentary passes for the forthcoming honami release ceremony. Ymmv...
Dead cookies leave no trails...
Why did you not take it a diff service center, my phone had some camera issues, they gave me a replacement phone next day itself. Coming and cribbing here does not change things my friend, you should definitely go and complaint against the SC, not Sony on a whole.
I would say I really love my phone and all the features it has. But through my experience with sony mobile india, I wouldn't recommend buying a Sony phone to anyone in India atleast
My Problem: HEAPHONE COVER OPENS ON IT'S OWN
-There phone Support is i'll trained
They didn't know Xperia Z had a headphone cover/flap.
-They take atleast a month to reply to your emails.
Their email replies, are fixed with the same paragraphs and wordings..I sent over 8 reminders mails over period of two months.
-Their phone support told me to email them.
-Service center cleaned my phone with a toothbrush and gave it back to me.
Naturally when Sony asked me to submit the phone at a service centre and revert with a job number on email.
Neither did the one month reply time nor the handling Of my phone by them at the Service centre or the posts on this forum about the other issues(dead pixels, lose of water resistance after service etc), I decided against going for it.

Sony service is better than samsung at least. They have a toll free number and people there are really helpful. I got my phone replaced twice. Once due to overheating the replacement unit had pblm with microsd and later i received a perfect unit. Now i have one and xperia z is sold. But i must say sony service is better than samsung and lg combined lol.

Xperia Warranty Service is a joke

Ok, my story with Z3 Compact ended not even started.
Yes, I got lucky and my screen cracked on itself without any force.
And it looked well as sony accepted the phone in US service center even though it was bought in UK.
That's where fun part stops.
First joke is a turn around time. 14 business day for a simple repair. that is at least 3 weeks! Who can wait phone that long?
That means I have to buy a new one and send sony to ebay when and if I got it repaired.
My guess is that people would buy anything else than xperia they just got broken.
What a stupid way to loose customers. Apple store would replace phone in store or take little time to resolve issue for example.
So after 16 business days I called just to hear that part is on back-order with NO ETA!
Also I was told that its not US phone so I should not even expect it to be ready soon.
Nice Sony! Good way to treat your loyal customers.
Seems like my first and last xperia phone unfortunately....
So if you still deciding ... Look at the other phones, that are more rigid or at least have a proper warranty service for 2014.
SonyXperia US has much to catch up.
Sucks man. My screen hasn't cracked yet but if it does this will definitely be my last Sony product.
I hope it won't. I am ok with stuff breaking as soon as you have a good service to get out of the situation.
Sony did not make that easy. The worst part is that there are no more good compact phones around except of iphone and galaxy alpha. which are worse than z3c in many ways.
Sucks that you're phone-less for so long, although Sony is fixing it despite being bought in the UK, which is more than they're doing for some people. Maybe the fact that it's a UK model is why they're not treating the repair with more urgency.
Other than Apple, which other phone manufacturer will instantly replace an unlocked phone as part of the warranty? Normally this is handled through carriers or (if you're lucky) the authorized retailer, but even they usually don't offer the same instant service as Apple. It's why Apple stuff costs so much. Well, that and the fact that iSheep will blindly pay for anything Apple

For samsung, sony and all other manufacturers even if you pay premium price like note 4 for $700 and xperia Z3 $650 you get ****ty service. You wont get instant replacements what so ever.. No proper estimated ship dates, No proper customer support, No Earbuds bundled is what we pay for and seems you enjoy it more

feel your pain, going through the same thing:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/handtec-returns-t2919883
was really glad sony USA would do warranty repair for my phone.. although 14 business day turnaround time seemed like a lot (3 full weeks regularly), but ok. they never emailed me to say they received it - no emails for anything in fact. i had to chat with them to confirm they had received it. and then they returned it to me in about a week - shipped it out in under a week, actually. although i wouldn't have known it had i not seen the 2nd delivery attempt notice on my door. had they emailed me, i would've been looking out for it and had it a few days sooner.
all that's fine, it's their stipulated process and timing, i just could have used some communication throughout. but then comes the icing on the cake. they removed the SIM tray from the phone and sent it back to me without it. so my phone is useless as a phone for a week now, and i'm still waiting to get a replacement or hear anything about it. they've stopped responding to my daily follow-up emails.. the latest response i got had an order number of some kind but no idea where i can put it to check status (it's no retail order number or anything). no tracking. just a blurb that it may take 14 business days to send out a SIM tray to me. and here i thought when i called they'd be like "oh sh*t, we'll get one right out to you asap". but i had to go through this RMA process a second time in order for them to send this to me. i've now owned the phone for 6 weeks, and only 3 of those have i been able to use it. first experience with sony not going so well.

Where can I get the plan for at least 79? Can I get in in USA for phone I got from Clove?
I'm willing to pay for the plan as soon as it has accidental damage coverage. This is better than going with 3rd party warranty coverage.
Fond here http://store.sony.com/gsi/webstore/...le-Phones-Protection-PLUS-Standalone-Warranty
It says $59.99 + tax I assume.
Will check tomorrow if I can get it for the phone that already went to the service.
Really had no idea that sony has these extra plans for phones.
From my previous experience I had AHD warranty for 3yrs for my laptop from Sony Japan and they easily fixed all issues with shipment around the week even when there was a disaster going in Japan few years back. Japan service worked like a clock. They would also fix issues that I did not report. Just to replace components with fresh ones.
U guys are complaining because it took a week to get a phone not warranted in the usa to be fixed for free.... Try samsung or any unlocked, non apple phone and youll beg to go back to sony.
Oh and apple makes you pay for out of warranty repairs anyway. Like cracked screens.
The biggest joke is the screen cracked by itself. What's this Sony?
i had the back glass crack by itself here in the uk, sony repaired the device for free under warranty.1 week turn around time.
Just as a heads up, most decent credit cards give you an additional year of warrenty (on items costing up to $500) on purchases made with the card. This includes SonyRewards, which also provides 90 days accidental damage protection on purchases up to $500.
When I had a Samsung S4 Active I sent it twice for warranty repair. 2 weeks was normal turn around. Quit complaining.
Just to cool down the drama I see a UPS notification today that my phone is coming home.
I still think that 3 weeks is too much for screen repair. It takes less than a hour to replace it.
It would be ok if I have to wait 3 weeks for TV or Vacuum cleaner but its hard to survive without daily driver as a phone.
Good that I have dozens phones at home to use as a replacement, most people don't. I'm just saying that this is the way for Sony to loose customers.
For most it is better to go to Apple Store, PAY and get it fixed asap than look for a replacement phone, PAY for shipment and wait ... IMHO
Where Sony could improve even with current approach is bring more transparency and feedback. They have not notified me about receiving the phone nor about the backorder delays.
The simplest check my RMA status page would help a lot. I guess it is much more expensive to have staff answering phone calls and chat about RMA status. And all they can say - in progress or yes/no received.
The other way to improve is to start using quality glass and make more durable back for the phones
Meanwhile I started considering LG G2 or Nexus5 as a possible alternative. They are pretty old but still excellent phones. Also fragile though but less.
I feel your pain. I dropped my z3 compact here in the uk and cracked my screen. I sent it off to Sony mobile repair company in the uk and they said that it would take 14 days to come back. They quoted me £97.30 for the repair which is ok I guess, I mean i did drop it. After about a week thee website said that they had diagnosed the phone and it needed a new screen (genius) but that part was out of stock. What kind of repair service doesn't have replacement screens in stock, nice one Sony, how is this your official repairer?
I then found out that I had phone insurance through my work and for £50 I could get a new phone. So I decided to contact the repairer to cancel my repair and get my broken phone back. Despite ringing the repairer numerous times they wouldn't send it back even though every time I spoke to them they said it was in the process of being done. After 10 days I decided to contact Sony customer support and to be fair to them they got it sorted and had my phone back 4 days later. So i get a new z3 compact from my insurance company, and guess what the new phone's battery is ****ed. It drains like 25% every three hours and cant make it through a single day. So I'm back onto Sony and they say it needs to go off for repair. Yep, brilliant so i can wait another 10 days for you to tell me you don't have any parts in stock. So frustrating.
Blimey mate that's rough
