I thought that they had fixed this already!!! I thought this ROM had the Camera hotfixes included. The pink spot is extremely noticeable in some pictures I was taking for a project today. Is there any way I can fix this?
Adam
check if you have newest ROM etc
I manually installed the patch and still have the pink spot. I wrote HTC, but I don't expect much other than swapping phones.

in the normal hd2 it was fixed in 1.66 rom i don't have it now , but tmobile hd2 has a newer rom base so this problem shouldn't be exists ,if it is a common tmo us problem ,then expect a hotfix from htc if ot then you must sent your device for a repair
i am getting the same thing on my tmobile hd2
odd. mine is fine. maybe it was a batch of them.
Same here.....
It could just be a batch of phones that have that. My phone does not show it and I just took a picture of a white wall
I don't seem to have this problem at all.
Then again, I've also increased the resolution of my camera pictures in Superfine mode. That's the only quality I'm willing to take photographs in. Especially when it comes to being outdoors.
It's a hardware issue that HTC is very aware of. They have tried to patch this in the past, several times in fact with several "Hot Fixes" that were released for the EURO model... some devices might just be faulty.
It's luck of the draw in the mobile device world, seriously... it is!
So, is it just me... or is that dude... way up above me... is his signature just like, incredibly MASSIVE, or what?
There's already a thread about this:

disable flash
if you took the pics in a room (electric light) and have flash on then you will get a pink hue
just disable flash

So I like most everything about my nexus but the way it takes pictures. Its not so much a real issue because it doesn't prevent the camera from working.. but it seems the chip/sensor they used for the camera gives a red spot in all pictures in the center of the image, most noticeably in pictures with a white or light background/image. I'll attach a picture so everyone else can confirm what I mean... I was hoping we could get HTC to replace the phones that have this issue via the warranty as this seems to be an issue with many nexus ones (based on a couple of reviews and the pictures they provided there). Here's my sample picture. You can also see it on screen when looking at what you're going to take a picture of.
Also I do research in a lab and its a procedure for an experiment I'm doing... just realized what I was posting might seem odd... didn't really read it before posting.
It is a software issue, so they are not going to do a warranty replacement. Droid had the same deal with it, seems to be something with the base 2.0/1 Android framework, I am sure it will be fixed when google releases their bug fix update(don't ask when, no legit idea beyond guessing sometime around the start of February, since that seems to be the typical timeline with phone bug updates, about 30 days after launch the first update is released).
Correction. It's a HARDWARE issue. Dont believe me? leave your cammera on for a couple minutes.. Goes away right? Its cuz droid camera was the same.. or similar? They had a bad batch. Mine has no pink eye(N1) =>
The Droid's issue was partially a software problem...
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/17/motorola-droid-camera-autofocus-fixed-in-secrecy/
As well, it is a "who really knows?"
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=10749
It seems many phones, with different camera's and so forth are having this issue... CCD seems to be the manufacturer of all the sensors, though, so perhaps there is a problem with the firmware from CCD causing this?
I highly doubt that every single camera sensor ever made by this company happens to have this sort of issue due to hardware. That would be pretty insane! However, if it was a firmware issue, then it would be present in every handset that uses a CCD manufactured/firmware supported camera, and this seems to be the case.
As well, it has already been stated the HD2 will get an update that fixes it. Hopefully the Nexus One is in the same boat. I didn't notice it on the test unit I used, but I asked the current tester if it was happening, and on all 3 it is present. It isn't noticeable in most pictures, though, especially with the flash on, FXcamera set to the proper white balance, and so forth.
EVERY Nexus One you get will have this issue. IT IS SOFTWARE. My N1 has it, the replacement I got has it too.
I've just taken a load of pictures and no pink from what I can see with both flash on and off.
Took pictures of a white surface and no pink. Must be hardware.
EDIT: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...authkey=Gv1sRgCNKM3fOF452TyQE&feat=directlink
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...authkey=Gv1sRgCNKM3fOF452TyQE&feat=directlink
Do you have any camera apps installed? FXcamera with proper white balance settings(sometimes auto is perfect, sometimes you have to do it manually) makes it go away a lot of the time too.
Eh Hem.. Guys are you all forgetting that my N1 DOES NOT HAVE PINK EYE
From what I understand this is a hardware issue. This was also present in an earlier HTC phone (I think the HD2) running a different OS altogether.
yes this was a widespread issue on the HD2... and it was completley fixed by a SOFTWARE UPDATE! >.<
A cursory search of the words "hd2 pink camera issue" on Google seems to imply that this is actually a hardware issue.
Edit: The source of the confusion http://www.redmondpie.com/fix-pink-camera-problem-on-htc-hd2-9140202/:
HTC first confirmed it as an hardware issue but then later they found out that it was infact a software issue, rather than a hardware one.

I believe the SOFTWARE update is just overcorrecting the blue/green settings on the center of the camera (Guess...) to cancel out the HARDWARE problem with YOUR camera. But again.. It is a Hardware issue for sure. Sorry guys xD I win!
I wouldnt trust htc if you ask them though.. I dont think they are certain what planet they are on half the time.. I asked about how they know that I unlocked my bootloader and his answer was basically.. voodoo. Soooo yaaahhhh... Notice that the cameras are the same for droid HD2 and Nexus one? and those are the only 3 with the issue? Not the G1 with ported software? => hardware folks

I agree, just because the manufacturer releases a software fix doesn't mean its a software problem to begin with.
The first day I had the phone, I really noticed the pink spot. Yesterday I took 30 pictures, I didn't notice it at all. Today If I look hard enough I think I see a little tiny pink, viewing the image of a white piece of paper in the same place (office) I first tested the camera.
Yeah I noticed this too. It only really shows up if I take pictures of white paper or a white wall. Every other normal pic I take turns out fine but I do hope they can fix it with a software update... wouldn't be too hard.

Has anyone noticed the large improvement in the flash light adjustment of the
new ROMs?
I got Miri 4.2 6.XX, which has the new TMOUS 2.09 Rom.
Yesterday i took a picture on a party, it was dark and therefore the flash went on. I warned the girl that the light is going to blind her because normally people would yell at me when i try to take a picture with the hd2 because of the brutal flashlight being on all the time while taking a picture. B
ut then, the flash just did go off not even a second and the picture taken was pretty decent (see below)
Can anyone confirm this? Is it just Miris ROm or did they finally adjust the Flashlight timing so the camera can be used in dark rooms now without having the overlighting.

I've already mentioned this in a post about Dutty's ROM almost a week ago and NOT ONE PERSON could be arsed to comment on it or put forward their opinion, despite the fact I took the time to flash back to the default TMOUS 2,10 ROM to find out. I posted pictures using the TMOUS with the new camera tweaks and Dutty's which (at that point) left them out.
The pictures are conclusive in my opinion.

I'm sure your original assessment was correct, but don't take it too personally. It's probably the pretty girl that got everyone's attention!
This is properly a part of the new camera app one the newer roms.. Could some of you on 2.10 maybe provide a CAB for this new camera application?
I tried using new camera package with 1.66 ROMs but no luck, photos are over-darkened. Seems it has a dependency on other ROM packages.

I think its more reliant on the camera drivers that changed..
I have to new Artemis HD2 v 5.0 Rom based on the 2.10 drivers but I can't obtain these results.
Could you post your settings or customisation, please ?
I am using itje rom (Touch it BL) and it is the first rom where my flash light does flush when set to auto flash. Before I had to put the ligh on or off and then make picture.
with RTT_Shock_Star_RC8_WWE there is unique picture quality, never seen before, now we can use HD2 for camera
Can someone do a CAB with the Fixes???

please post your camera settings with this 2.09/2.10 rom !
would be great if the camera issue was fixed !
Hi,
The day when I got my HD2, the camera hasnt been that good.
Sometimes it takex excellent pictures, but many a times it doesnt.
I upgraded to the stock ROM 2.XX and now running the latest Elegancia ROM.
Sometimes the camera just tries to focus and then just takes what is possible.
But yesterday i compared mine with another HD2 (also with the stock ROM) and the other phone takes amazing pictures.
Could it be a Hardware problem?
One more thing that I have noticed.
usually i do not like to set the Image preview on. But many at times, I hear the click and as I decide that the image is taken, the picture appears to be stuck and later refreshes. Turning the Image Preview On resolves this problem.
Its like as if the camera has become faster and more responsive.
Any clues for the image quality? or the Auto Focus ?
I havent tried the registry tweaks etc,
I tried setting ISO to 100 ,
Flicker to Auto,
Image quality to Normal.
Elgancia rom has camera issues I had a problem where they came out really blurry or the flash and the camera would make everything white. If I was you I would flash it back to t-mobile stock rom and check if it makes a difference if not maybe its your phone.
You more than likely have original release HD2 hardware. What color is your reset button? If it's red then you do indeed have first revision hardware, and the camera not working properly is a known hardware fault, and most of the time T-Mobile will replace your device free of charge because it's a known problem.

Or.
Maybe if someone else had this issue and got it fixed ?
Wonder if there is any fix that i can try.

Hi,
Since going to Sense gingerbread ROMs, my camera has been horrible in low light pictures. It seems like the flash is firing just a little bit too early. By the time the shutter opens, the flash has pretty much done its thing, and the picture comes out very dark. I have tried every single combination of Sense GB ROM and kernel that is currently available, and I get the same result with every single one. I have also tried all of the cameras available in the Market. I get the same poor results with every single one of them. The only way that I can get a decent low light picture is to flash back to a Froyo ROM, or over to an AOSP ROM. The pictures taken in any Froyo or AOSP ROM come out good and bright in all conditions. I think that there must be some sort of incompatibility with Gingerbread ROMs and the camera in my phone.
But of course just like every other thing with these phones, not everyone is having problems. But there are quite a few people that are. I've been trying to work out whether it is some sort of software issue, or hardware. We all know that there are four different hardware versions on the Evo. And from what I can determine, there are two different types of cameras in use. I started a little survey in one of the ROM threads in development. But I thought that I'd move it up here so that more people could see it and participate. I am hoping that if you know for sure that you are having the dark low light photos problem or if you know for sure that you're not having the problem that you could post information in this thread about the ROM you're running, your hardware version, the camera that you have in your phone, and whether you're having the problem or not. To determine the camera in use, do the following:
Using root explorer navigate to sys/ you will see android_camera and android_camera2. Android_camera is the rear camera. Go into that folder, hold over sensor until you see the options menu. Scroll down to View As Text and that opens the file with Camera brand and model number. Post that information to the thread, along with the other information requested above. I'll start:
ROM: Classic 0.0.4
Hardware: 0003
Camera: samsung S5K3HIGX 8M
I do have the issue
Thank you to anyone that responds to this.

Right. Not everyone on GB has the problem though. I am trying to find something that everyone with the problem has in common. It's not the camera itself. Maybe it's the camera and hardware combination. That's what I'm hoping to determine with this thread.

Probably true, but I think that I'll give my Sprint store a try anyway. Who knows. They might be able to come up with something. Just wish I had more info to give them going in. You and I both have the same issues, but different cameras. The only similarity is the HW 0003.

This one rep was pissing me off because he was taking pictures in the bright ass store telling me my camera was fine when i clearly told him it happen at night or in low light places. And i told him to duplicate the problem he will need to go in a dark room or somewhere low lit but clearly they didn't do it. I plan on telling them about it working well on Froyo. I restored my nandroid from right after I rooted and took a few pictures. Then I went back to Classic and took the same pictures. The difference is huge. But yea, cannot mention AOSP at all.
Also, I'm not unrooting my phone. I installed the latest stock GB ROM. Hopefully they won't dig too deeply into that. I've had really good luck with this non-corporate Sprint store down the road. Hopefully my luck will continue today. Though I'm not exactly sure what I expect to get out of it. I mean I really don't think that the problem is fixable on the phone. But I'll feel better once I've exhausted all possible options.

Sounds like he was trying to avoid addressing your problem by making it look like a non problem. I'm guessing possibly in front of other people so it looked like you were just wining. If they can't replicate it, it must not be happening right?
That is exactly what went down in the store, exactly!

The Sprint store guy admitted that he could see the issue. He had an older Evo around with Froyo on it and he compared and sure enough, there was a big difference. He said that the only thing he could really do would be to order a replacement, but that the replacement might have the same problem or some other problem. So at least he was honest with me.

How about posting your hardware, camera, and ROM...
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Multiple threads on this topic, but posting here since this is the most recent.
First, the basics:
Evo 4G rooted
still running standard Sprint Rom (basic tweaks, nothing serious)
Camera Zoom FX 3.2.2
Yesterday I realized that I'm having this issue as well... pictures are certainly coming out darker than before. This isn't the first time it's occurred, but up until now didn't realize it was reoccurring thing. It's further exaggerated when shooting from a lower light area towards a brighter area (example: from inside a car of something outside). No big shock there.
I installed Camera Zoom a few months ago in hopes of increasing the quality of pics (over the stock camera app). Overall, it was very successful. However, for the most part I take pics indoors or under a decent amount of overhead/ambient light. Thus far, no problems. But it seems that the increase in pic quality with Camera Zoom has also brought an increase in darkness to these pics in certain situations. Not so good.
Will try to find an answer.
Now with the 7740 mango update out could there be any hope for the camera drivers to work better with the HD2 since the Titan is from HTC? Or has this been a lost cause since most people are satisfied with the Candlelight no flash settings. J.W.

the problem is that the camera in the HD2 is kinda old now, unless a new device is released which uses the same camera we're out of luck with newer drivers.
The irony is that the actual CCD in the HD2 is more than capable of taking really good photos, even by todays standards, but the optics on the HD2 suck big time, which is why we have never had decent poor light photos.
All I want is for the green tinge to be gone. I found photos and videos of fairly decent quality otherwise, just would love to have an opportunity to take party pics and not look like a mermaid. The only solution for me at the moment is to use Android when taking pics, but Mango has better sharing facilities.

See i only get that green tint when the flash is on, i sware its to do with the timing, it seems like the flash turns off ever so slightly too quick,
Now light its self travels at a constant, but when that light interacts with different things, ie glass, different colours end up slowing down more than others, think of it like this, the harder something hits it, the easier it is to pass through, light has more or less energy depending on the frequency, which basically means some light ends up going faster than others as it passes throgh objects.
I think that the flash is turning off too quick meaning some of the light isnt actually making it to the CCD in time giving us a funny tint.
Id hazzard a guess that if you took off the screen protected to the camera or its IR filter it would actually be ok

YukiXDA fixed the green tint issue, and then unfixed it (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14473423&postcount=438). It seems that the flash is not in synch with the shutter opening, and at the moment of the shutter opening the LEDs are warming up(or cooling down) and are not giving the correct colour.
I think xbmod's hardware solution of removing the IR filter is fine if you only use WP7.5 on your HD2. But for those of us dual-booting, with a perfectly good camera on android, it seems a drastic measure, especially as the effect on the android camera are unknown as yet (no reply from xbmod to my question, maybe he does not dual boot).

Hadnt realised xboxmod had already done that, seems quite an extreme method!
you know, we're assuming its to do with the camera, there is every chance its actually the LED drivers thats buggered.
