Hi all.
I'm currently running VillainROM 5.2 RC. It's been a good journey so far till today, I noticed that the bottom bar, where "Phone" located stopped responding.
I've tried wiped everything and restore a Nandroid backup from a previous backup (same ROM) that doesn't have any problem. But it seems not to work.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Had this problem last month, they replaced the lens on the screen, (only took them 3 weeks) everything has been peachy since then. Take it into the store you bought it from, or contact HTC.

Thanks for the info.
I had a feeling it something had to do with the screen.

I have a problem with my XDA 2. Newest O2 roms installed.
I think it may be a software issue, what has happened the past two days is that I press the on button and nothing happens. The green LED still flashes to indicate GSM connection, but the XDA 2 is not responding to the on button. Soft-reset is possible, whereupon the problem is solved, at least momentarily.
Docking the XDA 2 does not make a difference, the charging light does not come on and activesync doesn't startup. This is a problem as I have missed sms messages.
Any ideas? I have pocket breeze, battery pack pro, spb pocket plus (only for the close button functionality and tabbed shortcuts plugin), pocket zen phone and standard stuff such as ia caller id.
Btw, do you recommend taking ia caller id off? And if so, how?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
my XDA II does exactly the same. O2 changed my device already but next morning after I restored everything with ActiveSync the same thing happened again. With the XDA II I had before sometimes a Hard Reset was neccesary to bring it back to life.
I have not installed the O2 Active things except Homezone.
The only thing I have in common with your XDA is that I have Battery Pack 2004 installed.
With the XDA it had before I had this error 3 times a week, sometimes Hardreset sometimes Softreset.
It also might have to do something with the O2 Network. In Dec/Jan I stayed 5 weeks in Thailand (Roaming AIS) and had no problems at all.
Do you have a O2 Multicard ?
Regards,
Michael
i am having the same issues with a Xda II mini!! I have to hard reset the device and reapply the OS.
Only applications installed are SPB Pocket Plus 2.5 and Handyswitcher 2.0.1.
I've come to the conclusion it's not a hardware issue, but a software issue.
I took the battery out and left it for an hour (i.e. in effect a hard reset). Put the battery back in and it worked a-ok. Rather than returning to a backup I had made with Sprite, I reinstalled all the apps that I needed. I'm going to leave it like that as it seems to be a happier wee device now. I had trialed a lot of apps, so there were maybe quite a few config files all clashing.
Not using battery pack anymore, don't know if it's the difference or not. Don't plan to install anything that I might not use so as to avoid this hassle again.
Hi,
my device was already changed by O2 and I came to the same conclusion. Just 10 minutes ago I had to Hard Reset my XDA2 to bring it back to life.
Did you install the O2 Active Stuff ?
I think I leave it like it is now, syschronice my contacts and dates and wait what happens. When it runs ok for about two weeks I will start install my programs again.

Michael
My capacitive back button is going crazy!!! I figured it was just the rom or a program running in the background. So I rebooted into recovery and it happened then too!!! Definitely a hardware issue. I didn't drop the phone and I wiped the screen clean. So I'm not sure what the problem is. Is there any way I can disable the back button completely and remap it to the Search button? I never use the Search button, so this would work for me. Please help!
I have had this happen to me, it would randomly act up. After two weeks or so, it just stopped happening.
I have seen reports on forums that some people have tightened the screws on the back of the phone and had luck with that fixing the problem.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Yeah happened to me too when I first rooted it, found out it wasn't the root that did it but an application that I put on there that was not compatible with the phone.
I had the same problem too -- I posted this a few days ago on another thread dealing with this problem. I'm not sure why it's happening but it many people think it's a software incompatibility issue. I did five hard resets and the problem went away. Most people who tried the hard resets only did it once, and the problem persists. It'll even persist in recovery. I think you need to do enough hard resets until the problem disappears. Mine now is glitch-free -- good luck.

Nexus S
Rooted Stock 2.3.1
T-mobile unlocked
Try installing the stock 2.3.4 just for trial. The new update fixed all my issues with the back button

I had this happened on a recently purchased nexus s. It was on 2.3 stock, and the back button just went crazy, the screen would flicker on and off, and no matter how many factory resets I performed, the problem was still there. I eventually returned it and the new nexus s has been problem free.

Your new nexus s are using latest version or not?
I have this issue sometimes too. Mine doesn't go crazy though, it just becomes unresponsive and dark. I have to wait a couple of seconds and then it comes back. Kinda of like the phone freezing while the damn button come back.
Running Nexus S4G 2.3.4
Hi guys,
Just want to share what happened and anyone is welcome to comment if you experienced the same.
I was on CM7 Beta this morning with faux's 0.2.0 1.3GHz. Decided to test the wifi CM7 release. Flashed rom and it went fine for awhile.
Then my atrix started to have sleep of death. Have to pull out the battery to boot. After boot same thing happen. Figured something must be wrong with my upgrade process, decided to restore my CM7 Beta backup.
Clean up the phone with fastboot, restored backup via CWM. Ta da...my atrix's screen is now inverted. When I swipe to the left, the screen moves to the right. Search button is now menu, home button is back and vice versa. Up and down movement is not affected. Cleaned up the phone again, and did another restore. Got fed up, I leave the phone for awhile.
Now, it's fixed by itself. No more inverted screen movement. Even after reboot it works fine. I have no idea what causes it.
Just sharing and if any mod thinks this post is unnecessary, please close it down.
Thanks for reading
Sounds like you messed up the pds partition.

This has happened twice in the almost 2 weeks that I've had the phone (most recently today).
I'm on T-Mobile and rooted using the GS3 Toolkit v1.0 and the "ALLINONE [Flash Insecure Boot, CWM, Root phone + Install Busybox]" option. I can't remember if the first time it happened was before or after this, but I think before.
So, most recently, I opened Contacts, scrolled down, opened a contact, then the phone became unresponsive. After a about 5 seconds, the screen briefly went black, back to the home screen, and mobile data was along with cell signal. Those came back up after a couple seconds and everything worked fine. At no point did I receive a popup about an application needing to close.
Anyone else experience anything like this with their GS3 or another phone? Just wondering if I need to get a replacement or just ignore. Or maybe flash a new ROM if it's software and not hardware.
I've had 2 random reboots today, both while doing absolutely nothing......... if I called into VZW to get a replacement, it would likely be new, right?
Nevermind, called VZW, they said I could just turn it in for a new phone within the 14 days. Yay.
Do you have chrome beta installed?

Nope, just standard Chrome as factory installed.
Going to go pick up another unit later today. Wondering if there are any other programs that screw this phone up......

That's why I asked.
NiLS? I had several reboots with that app. Removed it and no reboots for the last two days.

What's NiLS? I returned it and got a brand new replacement. The new one seems a bit more snappier and no reboots yet. I headed off the automatic re-installation of all my backed up apps by turning off mobile data shortly after I got it. Once I got errors on all of them I manually added the apps I really needed.
Seems like it worked... lopped Nova launcher on it and a cool icon pack... all is cool.

It's a app from Play Store. Obviously, something else caused reboots for you. I'm glad that everything worked out great for you.

I had the same problem today. It happened when I got a text. It rebooted like 3 times one after another. Then it just stopped. Weird.....
Anyone any ideas? I have the T-Mobile version. NOT ROOTED
another update
ok so maybe some good news here. i've been testing all day, locking/unlocking my phone and some normal random things to simulate activity. i have had zero reboot issues since i did a factory reset and zero reboots since i updated the gmail app.
HOWEVER.... the very minute i added the gmail widget to the locks creen i noticed that the widget said it was loading but didn't finish. my screen locked itself (as it should) because i wasn't touching it. So I double tapped the screen, scrolled to the gmail widget and it still said it was loading... then I unlocked it and BAM, rebooted.
after the phone rebooted i went to look at the gmail widget on my lockscreen before unlocking. everything is loaded. then when i tried to unlock the phone (im using a pattern unlock BTW) it rebooted again. Just now I removed the gmail widget from the lock screen and now I can get into my phone.
I hope this helps everyone else who is having the unlock reboot issue.
I just got LG G2 yesterday from Vodafone and today it just restarted 3 time and i think every time animation was 2 times i don't know why and i am sure the restarting started after i added gmail widget on Lock screen but now i removed the widget and now i am waiting can someone suggest a simple and permanent solution...plz
