I recently bought Tattoo... My old phone was nokia 6233, and I could easly add an event in my calendar, with some test, and adding reminding alarm... one alarm at specific time.
In tattoo, I have to specific how long that some thing will be, and alarm is set like 5min/1h etc BEFORE the start - it sux! Is there any other place I can just add a reminder to do something? (Like a reminder, I have to call a friend, about ..., so some text comes up which reminds me it?)
use the in built alarm function - you can add infinte amount of separate alarms and specify days of the week. Obviously you can only set these per week. The calendar function follows the same pattern as MS Outlook on the PC hence the confusing stuff.
Its not too bad when you get use to it.

There are lot of free notepad apps that have the functions you're looking for. As for me, I use AK Notepad!

Hello all,
I was wondering if there is any way to make a text message alert play more then once like a reminder does
the option is there but it is greyed out.
Can it be enabled somehow?
thanks in advance!
You can always edit the sound file, and just copy the info and make it into a longer file. If you don't know how to do this, contact me, and I'll do it for you.
I didnt know you can do that - thank you for the info
My wife <its her phone =) > wants it to repeat like a reminder incase she is out of the room for a long period of time - she uses it for work
You should check out SPB Phone suite. It has a feature that you can set to remind you of missed calls, texts, voicemails, emails etc... at any given interval.. So for example, you can set it to remind you every 10 min if you have a missed whatever ...
i bought spb phone suite just for the alerts options. it works perfectly for me... plus the inclusion of multiple profiles for home, work, loud, etc etc are quite nice. really quick to switch between them all too. plus it's network button on the today creen makes turning on/off wifi and bluetooth even faster.
Yeah, it's a nice program. SPB makes good software.
I searched for all kinds of different words hoping to find a quick but simple install that will fix my problem, but I kept finding these full blown applications that do WAY more than I need.
The phone already has ringtones for individual people, but I get system pages from the servers at my office and I'd like to set an SMS ringtone to those that will silence them. I still want the SMS from my friends, etc to come through with the default tone.
I haven't tried it, but would setting a silent ringtone in the contact silence the SMS for that contact too? I thought that was exclusively for voice calls.
Is there something simple I can use rather than buying one of these huge packages that have profiles and more advanced settings than I can shake a stick at? Should I just suck it up and get Ringo or something like it or is there something much simplier that is free that anyone is using? I only want the one e-mail address to be silenced.
(And this is on WM6.1)
Man, I am in EXACTLY the same situation.
I tried Ringo Mobile and it's a piece of junk; didn't work half the time. Was a pain to remove.
The other is phonealert, which is just too much overkill and it didn't work either. I wanna barf.
One thing I've noticed is many of these don't know how to handle SMS messages sent from an email address.
Maybe if they had a "reverse group" logic. That way I could set my default alert to be something loud while every other SMS message played something else.
I'd gladly fork over $20 for something that does this, and that works.
Found one that actually works!!!
http://www.watchflag.com/home
$15 bucks.
Has a trial, but worked on an SMS alert from an email address.
FINALLY!!
I've downloaded the trial. It does appear to be working with the e-mail addresses though. Whew!
Thank you very much for the lead! This is very helpful.
I am pretty new to this forum and I bought my Diamond just 2 days ago but I looked thruogh this forum before to see what I could expect. Anyway what I miss in the device is an application that would be taking care about reminding me of certain important dates. Birthday might be one of them (I know that there's a funcionality in contact list and calendar) but you can go to some other options like first date and other kind of stuff that expecially women want us to remember One thing for the application would be to make a reminder in some way (maybe even sending e-mail or text message) and the other would be to list those events to give us some overview what we can expect i.e. in 2 days, 1 week etc. That would be application completely separated from calendar and contact list, however it could have an option to use data that are stored there. Of course one could think about some additional functionality but it's just of the top of my head. Of course I am thinking about nice TouchFlo3D GUI.
It could also give/send reminders in advance starting at some point and repeating with some interval.
Not sure if this is my phone or how the HD2 is programmed: If a calendar event reminder is due while my phone is switched off, then I completely miss the reminder after I switch it back on. Same is true for alarms.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks.

This happens to me too.
I believe it goes as follows:
If the phone is completly switched off (not on standby),
the windows' event queue does not exist.
When the phone boots up, it re-builds the event queue from the time it is switched on.
Is it a bug ?
May be (maybe it's design flaw)
Is it an HTC bug or Microsofts ?
I Really do not know whom to blame
Should thay have saved the event queue on power off and reload it on bootup, instead of re-building?
probably.
On my WM2003, if I loaded the event queue from a backup,
and the event queue contained an overdue alarm/reminder
it would have just clogged the queue, and no remonders popped up,
Which is worse than skipping an alarm/remonder or two.
But - nevetheless, they should have fixed the problem, instead of dropping the alarms.
on a side note, does anybody know how to make the phone not remind you before 15 minutes and on the time?i just need to see the appointment is there on manila. ive loaded all my appointments from outlook - till june and on my outlook, ive turned the reminders for each individual one off. however, the phone still reminds me and its annoying. i dont really want to have to go through each one of them (theres 100) and turn it off. itll take me a day!
Som30ne,
thanks for your reply. At least I don't feel that there's something wrong with MY device, and that I need to send it back ---there is only something WRONG with my device.
Strangely enough, on my HTC Touch Diamond, these reminders (and alarms) seemed to work perfectly well and wouldn't miss a single event, so, in upgrading, either Windows or HTC have made a blunder.
Cheers!
munzab,
I know Outlook by default seems to remind you not only at the user set time before the event, but also when it starts to occur, but I don't think my HTC does that. And certainly not the 15 minutes before one.
Hi,
In my personal experience the ability to switch the phone on when an appointments et. is due is unavailable in Windows Mobile. I remember having this on Symbian S60 years ago but not on any Windows Mobile device.
For the second issue. In calendar menu, settings there is an option to change the deault reminder from anything from 1 week before to 5 minutes before as well as None. Have you tried setting it to None to see what happens? I haven't tried it but know its there. The standard alarm doesn't have a delay reminder option so its the time you set only I believe.
Hope this helps in some way.
Regards.

I have done this for htc, but i have the impression it will only do that for new appointments that are created on the pocket pc.
i can turn each one off by selecting one after the other and editing each. but not from outlook.
First off, let me say that i heavily rely on the calendar on any smartphone...
On my nexus one, when i create a new calendar entry it defalts to a 15 minute reminder. Since i always want a reminder this is a great time saver. On the Vibrant, the default reminder is not set at all. Does anyone know how to change this?
Thanks

Isn't there a setting for a default reminder (Calendar->Menu->More->Settings->Set default reminder)? Sorry I don't have Vibrant but that's how it is on G1)
Let us know!
unfortunately there is no setting like this
