calibrating battery - myTouch 3G, Magic General

just looking for some info on re-calibrating the battery. i know there is the option for wiping battery stats or something under ra recovery, what exactly does this do? and when should it be run? while battery is 100%, 0%?
just wondering as my battery seems to not be holding charge aswell as it used to..
thanks

From what I've read to calibrate the battery power down the phone, pull the battery put it back plug it in and leave it off till the LED turns green.
Sent from my HTC Magic

many thanks

Try another charger, i had two chargers go bad on me.
i ran the battery down while i was talking on it.
and now it just does that.. im very depressed about it lol!
let it charge for a while until it has enough power to complete a boot cycle.
i tried this, it sat overngiht for 7 hours and stil ldoes the same thing..
Tried pulling the battery and putting it back in after a minute or two?
absolutely man i've tried everything i've known..
Just leave it plugged in with the blinking amber. It should charge up enough to turn solid amber within 15 minutes.
that's the thing i left it plugged u for 7 hours and still flashing amber
wow... don't know what to tell you. call sprint about that
Have you tried booting w/o the battery into recovery and resetting the battery stats?
I would definitely try what Biggz said above. I do recall hearing once that the type of battery the Hero uses isn't meant to be completely drained, and that's why it shuts off before it runs completely down to 0. You may have messed up your battery or something. I think the easiest thing to do would be to call Sprint.
Sounds like a problem ipods have lol..when the battery completely drains it,it sometimes doesnt charge up..n if it does it takes forever....try a different battery.if that dont work, take it to sprint..thats weird.keep us posted on what they tell u.....most likely the battery overheated.id probably take the battery out meanwhile i take it to sprint, just in case the battery leaks; it wont mess up the phone.
Yeah, Lithium-Ion batteries aren't meant to be deep cycled (completly draining them and then trying to charge them). It can shorten the batteries lifespan, or kill it altogether.

You can't boot into HBoot, Fastboot, or recovery without the battery. Tried it on mine.
battery issue
I've run into this issue like 4 times. Its one of my biggest issues w the hero. I go to bed w a low battery warning plug it in then i wake up to a paper weight.
Has anyone found a good answer? my phone charged 7hrs and I've been pulling the battery on off plug unplug for about 2 hrs now. I've already ordered a new battery but that wont help me today.
Anyone find a fix? I'm up for any and all suggestions: eek:

[Q] Battery changes to 68%, may have a solution but need advice

Hi guys,
So I recently flashed to the latest ChuckDroidRom and have had no problem so far except that my battery never charges past 68%.
I believe this is because that was the battery level when I flashed the rom...and I'm not sure how to fix this.
If I turn the phone completely off, charge until the phone is 100%(green light), and boot into the spl screen and then flash the rom again will it reset my battery indicator to 100%?
Just an idea, if anyone knows what to do please let me know thanks!
If you are using the clockwork recovery image, just choose "wipe battery stats" option there to reset your battery stats OR you can delete the batterystats.bin in data/system if you are rooted. try to search this forum using "batterystats.bin" as keyword. Hope this helps!
turn your phone off, charg it till the led turn from amber to green, then boot android. now it should charge till 100%.
Try to charge it to 100% when it's off. Then boot to WinMo and use your phone till it dies (reaches 0%). Now charge it again when it's shut down.
Boot to WinMo and then to Android. That should reset your battery information. At least it worked for me.
Cheers

Thank you for your help. I thought that there is a software to calibrate the display, because I found a program that it were better, but it did not work. I apologize for my damn questions.
Calibrate battery "deep-cycle"
Even though it is not recommended to fully discharge Li-Ion batteries it is advised to do this if you want to recalibrate your battery.
1. Discharge battery completely.
2. Charge the maximum with the supplied wall charger while having the device powered off. Keep it charging until you see the fully charged LED notification
3. Repeat process 3 times
You’ve recalibrated your battery.
Remark:
Conflicting with the battery level reporting:
Sometimes it was fully charged, but was read at 90%, Difficult to discharge!!!
Also, if you want to make sure it is completely discharged, you can discharging it while in BootLoader mode. - How to enter BootLoader mode ? Powered off device and press and hold vol down + power on.

G1 Will not charge

Im totally at a loss here. I have tried like 5 different batteries in this thing, different chargers and nothing helps.
When it is off it just gives me a red light. Then when it turns on, it will only stay on when its plugged into the wall. When I wake it up it just shows 0% charging all the time. It never goes above 0%. When I unplug it it just dies instantly.
I've tried the same battery in another G1 and it turns on and registers that its a good battery.
I know there are some battery calibrators out there, but is this a known issue or is this a hardware issue?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Dan
Probably cleaning the battery stats may help you.

as above, u may try wiping battery stats from the recovery menu....
or maybe there's something wrong with the hardware....

what do you mean?
when i plug the carger it goes 15% 30% 50% then 100% in few seconds...
when i unplug it shutdowns..
I have a similar problem
My battery was getting bad for a while, so I bought a new one off Amazon USA (I hope it's real). However since I put the new battery in my phone and switched to CyanMobile, my battery has been all over the place.
I can't get through a 9 hour work shift on 2G speeds (where I may glance at my phone 2 or 3 times). As well as the battery running down quickly, it'll jump from say 80% to 60% or 50% to 30%.
It does this both when charging and discharging. i.e. the phone just died. I plug it in to charge whilst switched off, and the screen immediately shows 20% charge. I turn it on whilst plugged in, and by the time it boots up it shows 60%!
I've tried deleting battery stats in recovery mode, and using a battery calibration app from the market...but nothing
What to do?
