Google Earth erro opening .kml files - Desire Themes and Apps

I have the app installed but when I want to open a link to a .kml file on a website, it does not offer to open it in Earth. Download is the only option. So I downloaded the file an tried to open in through Astro; no luck either.
Any ideas? Kml file is valid and opens in Earth on iphone through browser link.

GEarth is not available in the Android market under Dutch T-Mobile. What version did you install (was it a separate apk file)?

.kml is not supported by gearth android

bummer
yes, I have a separate .apk installed

I would really love this feature. I keep fingers crossed to have an update of GEarth ( and GEarth showing in the market)

File Download

How do i get it to download all file types, i tried downloading a zip file and it came up with this file is not supported , i have it rooted and have a file manager, it may be simple but i am new to android
do you mean download through a browser?
if you long press the link doesn't it give you an option to save it ?
zip support is built in I think, certainly astro handles them easily.
personally I tend to use xscope-gl (1.6 version) to grab files now as it supports pretty much anything.

Download a program called androzip its safe and it works awesome.
Use another browser as I found the default Android browser wouldnt let me download zip,rar or apk files. Dolphin is a tweaked android browser, which works great. I think you can download an HD version...which might suit the 5" screen better. Check it out before you buy
Dolphin hd trailer:

I wasnt as descriptive I should have been. If you download androzip it makes zip recongizable for download and it will open them as well. Also if you need to send any file over gmail you go through androzip. Open it go to the file tap on it and choose send, no zipping required.
Thanks for all the replys guys downloaded android zip and another browser and all is well thanks
Hello chaps, what browser would you guys recommend for android?

Apk install problems?

How do you open and install apk files that were downloaded off the web browser? I use astro like I did on my vibrant and I'm doing it the exact same way but it won't work on here. I'm trying to install an apk but it says the phone can not open the file because its not supported in this service which I can't see being possible... Anyone have an answer?

[Q] Native download location

Trying to map my downloads via Dolphin browser to the native 'downloads' app location.
Anyone know the filepath?
/sdcard/downloads/ lol

Are you sure?
I'm sure I've downloaded before, yet launching native download app has drawn a blank.

thats defo the default download location, i just copied a load of gameloft .apk's from there to my usb hard drive
I think it depended on the Dolphin version used. I remember Dolphin and Dolphin HD tended to go to the "downloads" directory, but Dolphin Mini's download directory was inside the data folder of Dolphin Mini. It was a bit of a PITA when you flashed with CWM and you didn't remember where you had downloaded your ROM...
I'm talking about the native 'downloads' app in the app drawer.
It's showing blank.
I've put files in the 'download' folder & also created a folder called 'downloads' & put some files in but still no dice.
I need to know the filepath to the native 'downloads app' in the app drawer so I can set Dolphin to assign downloads to that file.
You with me here?
So, I downloaded a file with the stock browser and the file did indeed go to sdcard/download.
File shows in app drawer 'downloads' app.
Downloaded another file with Dolphin, downloads mapped to go to sdcard/download.
File not in app drawer 'downloads' app.
Looks like the native downloads app only works with files recognised as downloaded with the stock browser.

[Q] Problem with download icon in All apps screen (alway empty)

I have a problem, when I hit the download icon (all apps) on my nexus 7, it is always empty.
I check in my download folder and there is 9 files for 66 meg.
I check with parameter, storage, and I have 66 meg, when I hit the storage, its open download, and still empty????
What is the problem?
To solve the problem I create an shortcut with es explorer to the folder download, but I would like that my download (original) icon to work.
Help, is this a bug, or I am the only one?
My nexus is in French, (telechargement) but I try in English and it is the same problem (download)
Where is this setting for the download?
Are you going to Settings > Apps > Downloaded, and seeing nothing listed there? I have 52 apps listed there. If you go to the 'All' tab, do you see all your apps including the ones you downloaded or installed from the Play market?
I believe hes going to the Apps list form the home screen and licking on the Download app that in theory wold show any items he has downloaded in his browser.

Yes this is it.
And in parameter, storage, there is 66 mg, in download, but when I hit download, the open window tell me there is nothing.
I am not able to see my download made with my browser.
Also, I try loaderdroid and I can see only folders. I have in download folder apk, pdf, files that I cannot see except with es explorer.
I try loaderandroid, and it is the same, files are not visible in the download folder.
This is going crazy.
I try to change download folder in loaderandroid, and I can see only folders, no content, no files, in any folder!!!!!
I have es explorer, and root browser lite, with these I am able to see files in folder!!!!! with any extension.
What is the problem??????
I just remove es explorer, and root browser lite, thinking that there was maybe a conflict. No luck, without those apps I am not able to see my download......
HELP
Ok now I can confirm that my Downloads icon in All apps screen is not working.
I have apk, pdf, .rar in the /sdcard/download/ folder, and I am not able to see them with the Downloads icon in All apps.
Only way to see them is with es explorer or root browser lite.
Is there a way to reinstall this Download manager apps????
Same problem with loaderandroid. (also not able to see any files, only folders)
How are you loading the files on? Perhaps you are putting them in another downloads folder?

No they are in the good folder. Problem is look like the files are hide for any download manager.
Like I said, no problem with es explorer or root browser lite
I try removing es explorer and rootbrowser lite, and Avast, and still not able to see file in Downloads apps, and Loaderandroid.
But I need to access those files, and without a file managers like es explorer, there is no way to access them except with Downloads from all apps screen, that in my case do not work......
The downloads app isn't meant to show the contents of your downloads folder. It only shows the files you download from your browser.
I'm not sure if it gets cleared automatically at any point, never tested it.
Its the same thing as the downloads tab in chrome on a desktop PC.

Ok with which apps you can see your files already downloaded from your browser? I use firefox, dolphin, and chrome, and I cannot see the files, except with es explorer, an add-on apps. Same problems with loaderandroid a download manager.

Google Maps?

So I'm rooted with the De La Vega method and it works great. As we all know, the new google maps v7 will not allow you to do a lot of things that the old versions would allow. I've found some older APKs from v6 and previous, but when I go to install, it will not allow it. Any ideas why, or how to get around it?
I'm interested in this as well. Plus the navigation voice is so robot like and it can hardly pronounce street names properly.

You can change the speech from Samsung to Google speech engine, sounds MUCH better. The method is somewhere in these forums.

I'd imagine maps is a system app, so using a file explorer go to system> apps and replace the maps apk with your older one, change permissions and reboot.

How do I change permissions? I've tried using ES File Explorer but I can't replace that system file.

Sorry I'm not familiar with es file explorer. I use root explorer and just long press the file and select change permissions. Maybe try changing the extension of the original apk to something like .bak before you copy the new apk then you could always go back if you wanted the newest version again.

Once I downloaded the correct app to allow permission changes, I was able to rename the v7 file, copy over the v6 file and rebooted with no problems. However, the application didn't show up in the app list. So, I had to then install that same APK and everything works great. I now have all of my stored maps back!
What can't u do on v7?

Where did you locate previous versions of Maps? I am tired of current version of Maps forcing me to allow WIFI and Network Locations to work. Just a battery hog doing that.

There are several places online that have archives. I also had my APKs all backed up in such an event.
If you get blackout updater (Google play) or in Android themes. The blacked out version of Google maps is the last V6 version. I was glad to have the map view back.
