htc has no thing to do microsoft which refused the upgrade
booooooooring already.... YAWN
it's real hard to be optimistic on this issue.
Official Support from Microsoft?
It'll be easier to be optimistic for XDA port.
But seriously, we don't need WP7. WP7 and iPhone can duke it out for all I care.
If you don't like WM6, just move to Android like I plan to as my next device.

Hey friends,
probably this has been asked before, but still a major consideration of which phone to buy.
anyone knows for certain if this will be available \ can be done?
thanks a lot,
P.S you guys seem most skillful dev team, keep up guys.
it is possible but no one can assure you that this will happen. look at the orginal HD port as an example

you will never find the right answer, and we all already can see it is pretty tough to put an non android phone with a fully working android? So far, it is pretty impossible. Why would you putting high hope with a wm phone to be ported with android? this will not be a good factor at all for choosing a phone? my 2 cents.
If I read the signs right, there will bei a Android Version of the Leo in early 2010.
Maybe there is a change to flash between the two OS.
On the other Hand this would mean HTC didnt give an capactive Display to the Leo for being ready for Windows Mobile 7 but for being able to sell it as Android Device aswell.

If you want to google for this version you should use the magic words "HTC Dragon"
Cool .. I'm reading this forum for two weeks to get reason NOT to buy Leo. Still haven't found one. But this might be it ..

Someone can read signs, too ;-)
I have just received a message back from HTC after I asked if there were going to be Reader & Document tabs in any upcoming ROM upgrades.
Here is the response;
Dear Richard Thank you for your enquiry about ROM features. At the moment we are working together with Microsoft to bring new features in place in the next upgrades and upcoming products but we cannot include the current options included in some mobile networks as this is part of their exclusiveness and brand agreements. Please fell free to subscribe to HTC eClub at http://www.htc.com/www/eclub/ so that you can receive upcoming news regarding your device or follow us on www.twitter.com/htc If there's any other enquiries, please let me know by responding using the link provided and I will be happy to check for you. What is it what they are working on with Microsoft? Lol , let the rumours start.
I have just replied to him asking for any info & mentioned Win Mo 7. I'm sure i'll get nothing out of them but always worth a try.

Nice, those conversations. Always something to interpret in one way or the other. Let us assume the HD2 doesn't get an upgrade for WM 7, then what? They cannot provide any information about that because of enclosure agreements? No, that's impossible So..... HD2 definitely gets an upgrade LOL
6.5.x maybe

That is making so much more "Sense". (punch intended) I mean what do we have to do with our nice battery covers when there's a upgrade to WM 7?

Because of the 'With HTC Sense'? Yeah that would be failure. Maybe just wright the word 'NOT' with a pen. 'With HTC Sense. NOT' xD
Anyway, from what I am reading it is clear that they are thinking about what to do with the HD2 regarding WinMo7. I think HTC will make some kind of new 'Sense' interface for WM7. MicroSoft just wants to sell the first Windows Phone 7 Series without to much 'Sense/TouchWiz' etc. To give the HTC HD2 owners a custom WM7 version with some kind of Sense on top would not effect them that much I think. And, again, we HD2 owners would be a good 'test' for them to see how Sense + WM7 works out.
Or else, during a meeting somebody goes 'you know what, let's just stop thinking about it. We are giving them 6.5.3. That's enough. The e-mail guys will get payed double this month to reply to all the hate messages'.

For example finally fw version without annoying bugs I hope.
But anyway I really feel like something is cooking because for our region there is still no 1.66 version almost month after released everywhere else.
1.Maybe because it makes no sense for them to port the bugfixes for our region when some bigger upgrade is coming (like 6.5.x?) or …
2. they are just do not care about our stupid problems to use their devices.
I hope it is No.1

Or not considering MS requires the OSs' home screen to be intact bar any OEM customization. Basically that means the screen as we've seen it will stay as is but HTC will likely add custom 'live tile's such as weather or stocks and change the 'default' colors.

For Microsoft the question is "Where do you want to go today"
The word is out: not there, where the 5 buttons roam..
I;m not hoping for WP7s upgrade..
I'm hoping HD2 will get official update for WM 6.5.5
3 buttons is a really joke
No WP7s for me, it's like a prison and I like my freedom.... a lot!
patrick pls tell us more about wm7. make a sys dump and upload it.
oh wait! you dont have it yet!? how the hell do you know how its like?

Technically they are not targeting exsisting winmo users, they are targeting all consumers, ppl that don't know smartphones...they just know phones that do cool things...ooo..i want that! those ppl...we all here are power users who will propbly have wp7s on our hd2 before it launches any devices..but most here might not even upgrade becuase of all the limitations of wp7s but it has pros too tho...better games..smart non-multitasking aka save states....so yeah, it's a toss up on who will and won't want wp7 on the hd2. I might want it...but for now i'm just gunna love watching all my xvid avi files on my hd2 and put my g1 on airplane mode and use wifirouter for twitter if i don't like the twitter experience on sense...i am rambling...i'll stop now
Windows mobile 7 . im not really interested in . if we get it ,then great!
some people will flock to have it on their phone .
Now having Android on my hd2 , now that would be fantastic .
keep your options open .
as one guy stated so far , windows mobile 7 could be refered to as a "prison" as he stated . and thus NO freedom .
vote for Android not windows 7 , just my opinion !
Cheers

+1 ........
there is also another problem.wm7 will not support hd2 because of its removable memory card...!!!it most had a built in memory just like iphone.
Just a thought has HTC moved the interests to Android because they have just announced the HTC Wildfire and every month a new fone seams to be out but we are stuck with probs on our amazing HD2. Why don't they spend time fixing these before releasing new phones
Any Ideas people??????????????????????????????
at this moment in time i would say yes, at least until windows phone 7 is released then they will probably switch back to that and android. HTC will still release rom updates and hotfixes for the HD2 but it won't be that often.
It's not that they don't care..they did just recently release an update. But the reason they keep releasing phones instead of focusing on the ones already out is pretty simple. They're a business, a mobile phone business, and they want to make money.
HTC has a leg up on just about every other mobile phone manufacturer thanks to this site. htc devices never seem to "Suck". but since win phone 7 wont be skinable or very customizable from what i have read. then maybe htc will be more android oriented. id love to see sence from winmo ported over. as for updates. HTC seems to make important ones, but dont knock um. most other smartphones dont even get a lot of updates. in my experience, i have never had an HTC device with a problem for to long. longest was my HD2 wich had a data issue. that didnt last to long
that was a big point, why i bought the hd2 and didnt wait for another phone. i have the feeling that the hd2 is the last "best winmo phone" from htc. i dont think they make a better winmo 6.5 phone till wp7...
they want to make the customer feel good with a htc phone, and a customer doesnt feel good when his phone crashes often and runs slowly...
not only xda members buy htc phones, and android just feels better when u dont know how to set up ur phone
I can understand what you lot are saying and i am very happy with my HD2 apart from the text messageing app problem that thay have bin told about loads of time even from me but they are not doing anything about that is my problem
I like my HTC HD2 very much
The only thing I don't like is the text messaging
Please Please Please if any one knows some good sms apps please let me know
I miss the sms style from Iphone

I got tired of waiting for HTC to address this major fault. Resco Contact has what I think is by far the best SMS software. You can install Resco Contact (I purchased it a couple of years ago but you can download a trial) and then just put a link to the SMS part of the program. It works fine for me. Hope this helps.
HTC has a long history of nice looking devices but poor support, 6 months at best is all you can count on from them before they move on. Short answer, yes and contrary to others who think HTC will put all their expertise behind WP7 I think we will see lacklustre efforts from them as they focus even more on android.
I'm really hoping that if they give up on 6.5x version of Sense, they will release files here to allow cookers and mods the chance to keep this phone ticking over. I bought this phone with the hope that Sense would improve (e.g. Facebook tab, RSS reader, Video browser (to launch with CorePlayer) etc. etc) - however, I'm worried we've seen the last of this great interface (on WM6.5)

I didn't like the 6.5.x texting to start with, but to be honest I am so used to it now it really doesn't bother me.
hey everyone
This has been a long time coming. Thanks to the unshakable versatility of the HTC HD2 (what other phone runs Windows Mobile, Android, MeeGo, Windows 95, and Ubuntu?) we finally have a working port of Windows Phone 7. As you will see, the port works quite well: everything works
hd2 is the coolest phone on earth

Why is this in the Android section I wonder? Thanks for the link though
Sorry to rain on your parade, but this news has been all over this forum (and others) all day!
It was about 12 hours ago I flashed WP7 to my phone! (Back to Android now though )
Seriously, the forums are plastered with it! I really don't know how you missed it (unless you didn't look first).
