problem with syncronization

hi guys i'm enjoing my great touch jade, but i encountered an annoing problem in syncronization: i can easily install activesync (i'm on xp pro sp3 and i've got office pro 2003) but when i connect my jade to pc nothing happen.. i mean, the phone start charging, but no sync go and windows send me a message about unidentified device, i haven't driver... how can i manage this situation? i'm trying since 4 days.. 've tryed softreset, searched everywhere and it seems that i need driver for a net-adapter NDIS.. i tought an activesync corrupted files, i downloaded from microsoft.com, but didn't work anyway. is activesync that don't install driver or my jade that got something wrong? i also tryed to change the usb cable.. isn't my cable..

Have you tried unchecking start>settings>connections>usb to pc?

Two things you can check:
1. Check on a different comp if you can. I suspect a problem with the usb port on your computer. If you can, try plugging it into another usb port and trying that again.
2. Check the connector pins on your jade. Sometimes they get bent the wrong way and that causes the device to not be recognized when connected.

1. i'm waiting my friend to come back from holiday to try on its.. he has vista, maybe it is a xp problem.. i tried all my usb, but its the same, everything works, but the jade
2. how can i check? need to open jade? i get a see with a magnifier but it seems all ok..

You should be able to see the pins using your naked eye as well. Their in the mini usb/charging port on your phone.
Would you be able to check this using another WM phone? Does any other device work on your comp? Mp3 players, camera devices etc? Are those detected?

oh, u tell pins on pc? they works of course, i can use mouse, mps player, modem, printer and so on.. all my usb ports on pc can work. in fact when i connect jade, my pc find soething, but can't identify, i got unknown device from device manager.. i think that when i install activesync, he can't install driver for jade.. i tryed with cd program and also the downloaded one from microsoft.com...
and i had a look, it seems that pins on jade are all ok..

When you plug in the device and windows asks you for drivers, check "install from a list or specific location" and in the following dialog point "include this location in the search" to "C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers" if your system is an english one...for other lang adjust accordingly. this should install all necessary drivers and render it working...

Hm, this worked for me. Try going to the device manager and uninstall the active driver, then re-try the above.

now i'm at work, but i tried yet this operation, and it tell me that no driver is installed for this device.... -.-
the real problem is that when i install activesync, he don't update the system with the right driver for my jade... i tryed on my girlfriend pc, she's got xp home and its the same... at now i can't try on vista, because the only one i know who use vista is on holiday... but i wanna find that shi##ing problem and solve it...

ActiveSync works fine with my WinXP SP 3.
When i connected Jade the first time XP asked for a driver. I ignored this.
Then I installed ActiveSync from one of the CDs that come with Jade.
Of course, you will also have to select ActiveSync (not "drive") on your jade when you connect it to the PC.

i writed in microsoft forum and sended a mail to htc to have fixed drivers.. i'll let you know if i manage..

update:
at now i can't manage to sync...
tried hard reset, asked microsoft for help, and htc too, they said i can have a hardware problem on my touch, cause nor in my friend laptop with vista can get drivers.. from htc they told me they can replace my touch with a new one...
i think i'll get this way...

Diamond Windows Xp: USB-device not recognized

Hi, i have a problem, my diamond doesn't connect to my pc anymore, not with active sync, not as a driver and not as a internet modem, i need to connect it so i can flash to a new rom to fixe a issue i have (my diamond freezes and does hard resets after that, all the time) to fix it i need to flash tock rom>hard reset>my rom>hard reset, but this won't work if i can't see a way to flash my phone ...

I'm not sure because I don't use XP, but do you not need WM Device Center or something?

And what format (wipe) memory to default from mobile, i mean main (not internal storage). i know that mobil will go to "preinstall" stadium...... if u dont undertand u lose everything on program memory (contacts, sms but u can backup it). If u do it u have clean rom because every rom have a shadow install copy.

Thank you for your reaction! But no that's only necessary if your system is running Windows Vista.

Thank you for your reaction too! No, you mean a hard reset, i allready did this a couple of times, the strange thing is that it doesnt work after a hard reset too, i allready backed my settings(contacts,sms,etc.) up since the problem started but it has no sence restoring it if it keeps auto hard-resetting itself...
Strange thing i noticed too is that when i connect my phone to the net adapter it thinks i'm connecting to a PC and it will ask me to chose an option(a.sync/file disk/ internet modem)

I dont know but my permanent problem is that every rom have checked faster data sync on usb sync and my vista doesnt recognize this... i dont know why is permanently enabled but for me this is not working.
but for u. it can be registry problem..... any registry cleaner or backup from other rom? just an idea

Fysical port, COM port or Computer(allready done)

bump, this just became a major issue i downloaded diamimg.nbh to internal storage and flashed to default rom but my USB still is not working.. please someone help me out ?

maybe your USB Port is broken or dirty? you ever tried to clean it? (turn your phone off, remove the battery, take a needle and take all the dust and fluff/lint out)
can you charge your phone via usb?

I had the same problem with XP. Glad I have also a mac ;-)
I "solved" the problem by leaving the phone connected to USB and restarted the PC. Then it worked but only if leave it in USB. When you pull it of you have to do it again :-(

Yes i can, and if i connect my adapter to the net and put the mini usb in the phone a window will pop on my phone & tells me to choose disk drive/async/internet modem..
im now going to clean the usb port ands see if it helps, thank you for your reaction!

I have two charger, one ist the original from HTC, and the other is a normal plug with the miniusb on the other side, sometimes when I plugin the non-original I get the same message (USBtoPCPoppUp).
The reason is that not all pins have good contact, maybe you have to clean your usb connector with some "hard" cleaningstuff (alcohol(not the sweet stuff.. take it from a pharmacy!) or you can try rubbing alcohol (my favorite! ).
you could also try another USB cabel if you have one

Cant Connect To USB. Cant Flash?

So just recently my usb and sd card decided to malfunction. My usb will charge via my pc but it comes up on the pc (Vista 32bit) as 'Windows cannot recognise this device' my drivers are up to date. However in my device management i did notice that my 'Mobile Device's' section had gone
I also tried formatting my sd card using a card reader, but it wont format it
I want to flash a new ROM, any way of doing it without an activesync connection? i managed to get the NBH image on my sd card by using another storage card but i still couldnt establish an activesync connection.
Any help would be much appreaciated as this is driving me crazy

Just checking, you did update your usb drivers according to this guide?
Otherwise, do you not have access to another pc?

seems to be doing exactly the same
i figured its a hardware config in my phone but i dont know how to sort it out so i need to flash a new rom somehow lol
i've tried my other usb lead too, but they both charge but wont connect to activesync or disk drive =\

I just edited my post above, another user came right by going to Settings\Connections\USB to PC and unticked the Enable fast data transfers.

Already tried that, just tried again and reset the device, still no luck
The Error message im recieving is:
'USB Device Not Recognised
One of the USB devices attatched to this computer and had malfunctioned, and windows does not recognise it.'

Have you tried a simple thing like rebooting the pc? That sounds however more like a hardware issue on the pc or phone. What happens if you plug another usb device into the port eg a usb flash drive, does that pick up? In your device manager, are all usb devices functioning properly? Perhaps try to roll back the drivers on the ports if possible and re-install the usb driver update.

Yeah Rebooted Everything About 10 Times Lol
All My Other USB Devices Are Fine
I Cant Roll Back The Driver In Device Manager Because It Apparently Isnt There, But Nothing Has Been Changed, WMDC Has Been ReInstalled, Net Framework Reinstalled Etc Im Just Not Getting Any Mobile Devices Show Up.

Okay, you need someone more technical than me then bro. Sorry, but I've run out of ideas.

If you've changed usb cables, and you've checked the usb to connection setting is not on advanced, then it means the usb port & possibly main board are damaged. Did you hardspl your device?

Yeah Ages Ago, Im All Up To Date With HSPL And What Not, Usually Flash ROM's Every Week So, Im Pretty Annoyed Lol.
Other Things Work In The USB Port. But It Just Charges If I Plug My Blackstone In

just re-install microsoft windows mobile centre and you will be ready to go.But install with phone NOT Pluged.

Problem with USB connections

Hi, I seem to be having some trouble trying to update to the latest 6.5 ROM. It says I have a "Error 260: USB Connection".
I also get the same error trying to flash to HardSPL, it says I should make sure it is synced, when it is. I also tried installing the "enablerapinew.cab", and another computer/another cable cord. All the same problems.
I think it may be because in my USB to PC menu, the option to "Enable Advanced Network Functionality" is ticked and grayed out. So I can't untick it.
I tried changing the driver in the registry to the USB Serial driver, but that didn't even sync.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

The alternative is to flash from SD card. Instructions in flashing guide on Wiki.

I'm having the same issue... mine started after i installed a cab file that allows all of myTouchflo screens to have the same wallpaper.... but now my usb connection on th phone does not work. Even in bootloader when i plug in the USB it never recognizes it and i've tried multiple cables and multiple workstations any help here would be great!

Hard reset if nothing else works.
Then you will know whether it is a hardware failure or software related.
I've seen anything from bent pins, lose USB on circuit board, bad cables, Vista vs XP....etc and the list goes on of possible causes for this issue.

Well it still charges and the phone still reads the storage card because i was able to flash it from the card but the computer will not recognize it as a USB device therefore activesync will not work and i cannot access the storage card when its in the phone

Reinstall ActiveSync...maybe...

I have exactly the same problem.
Connecting the TD2 with my PC does not do anything.
Its the same issue with my 2nd PC and othe cables.
Charging works but no USB connection.
I think the USB connector on the Phone is broken.
I allready contacted HTC support but no response yet.
I will post again when ive got some news.

SD-Rom flashing

Don't forget for Windows XP you need Active Sync and for Windows Vista and 7 you need Windows Mobile Device Center.

Someone please help me be able to transfer files to my phone from my PC!

It used to work, doesn't anymore.
USB debugging is enabled. Camera is connected as a media device. Using the original OEM cable. Drivers are updated....
so wtf? It just says "copying" when I try it on my PC, and on my laptop it immediately says "transfer stopped, device not connected or not responding"
I really need some help on this one, if anyone is up to it, thanks in advance!

I've had this issue before, but don't remember how I solved it, so be patient with my response.
1) Try deleting your devices drivers from device manager. Restart your computer and plug in your phone and try again after they automatically download.
2) Try a different USB port, if its a desktop, use one in the back of the computer.
3) When transferring, make sure your device is unlocked.
4) Try different USB cables.
Hope one of these tips works out for you.

what do you mean device unlocked?
it's doing it on multiple computers so it's not the port. Also using two different USB cables...both supposedly OEM (one says samsung, the other has the little black USB symbol on it)
also now tried it with a third white OEM cable...it reinstalled the drivers and gave me the "what do you want to do with this device" prompt, but still does the same thing....

still not working, help please....

i get this problem with my 4 four oem cable lolll on my sgh-i317m(note2) because my usb port on my phone was broken after i change this piece my phone get working fine i don't know if your phone have this problem .......or try to clean your usb on your phone

i have no problem uploading pictures from the phone
or deleted pictures from the phone
but when I try to delete music is says the disk is "write protected", on both the SD card and the internal phone storage
still looking for a solution, if anyone can help....

Can always get a card reader and take SD out of phone and put in reader slot connected to your PC. If all this is on your SD card and not the phone.

literally still do not have a solution to this, years later......anyone?
