Hey, was just wondering if anybody knows of a PDF Viewer which makes use of the G-Sensor? Been having trouble trying to find one.
Thanks in advance.

have you tried gcontroller?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429569
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I would like a PDF viewer which goes into landscape mode even when the keyboard isn't out, like Opera Mobile, that just scrolls on tilt.
I have thought about using any viewer with a universal g-sensor program like Gyrator but this will just run down my mobile's system, especially since I don't need landscape mode all the time.

I always used AvantGo on my old PPC, so wanted something similar for my Exec. I found Newsland on MS's website (yeah, I know, I deserve everything I get) and it had some good reviews.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work, and the website I'm supposed to register with is no longer in existance. The only site I can find is in Russian.
I thought "Stuff it" and tried to remove the software. I used settings>remove on the Exec. It has gone from the program list, but the software is still there. I tried removing it through Activesync, same result; gone from the program list, still on the Exec. I've tried a soft reset, it's still there, taking up room. Any ideas?
Newsland Remove
Hi,
I think the following is happened:
The Today screen plugin of Newsland was still active wen you tryed to remove Newsland. What you need to do is, try to install the software again, and when this is done deactivate the today plugin. Than remove the program again. After that you can look with the File Explorer and look at Program Files if the map Newsland still excist's. If so, you can delete it!
Hope this helps,
Cheers Leo
Does this mean AVantGO does not work in our Universal? Any other alternative to get NEWS REPORT on our Universal?
@cktlcmd
Hi,
If you want to use a good newsreader!

For me this is the best, tried Newsbreak and SPB Insight but this one is much faster and better designed.

Thanks. I checked the site. I do have a question. Does it support landscape view on our Universal? All the screen shots I saw were portrait view.
Landscape view
Hi,
Yes it does, I love this app, works smoothly!

Thanks very much.
Thanks Laurentius26, I'll try it now.
To the person asking if AvantGo works - it does work, just fine, in landscape or portrait. Just go to the AvantGo website and download the latest version. Annoyingly, it insists on syncing through it's own software rather than going through Activesync, and it seems slower to upload than it was on my 3 year old RX3715.
Still, it does the job just fine. I wanted to try something a bit different, so I may have a look at the other suggestions.
Edit - worked like a charm. Thanks again.

I have installed HTC album on my gene, but i am not able to use any of the finger gestures. Any idea what is wrong or what should i do to make gestures work?

Folks,
I only got my baby yesterday, but is anyone else finding this?
For me, the device will only switch to landscape mode for Opera, Photos & Videos, and Teeter. Not in TouchFlow 3D Home or any of its tabs, Mobile Office apps, TomTom 7, ...anything!
I've tried turning off Touchflow 3D and rebooting with no effect and with the G-Sensor there is no manual setting to force landscape.
This makes the keyboard in TomTom tiny and means that the screen isn't that much more usable for Office apps than my venerable old 2.8" TyTn.
Please could someone tell me if it's just my phone that's afflicted or is it a "feature"?
Thanks!

no thats totally normal. and known since the first infos of the HD came out.
If you really want full landscape switching, get Gyrator2 or Gsen. both can be found on this forum
It doesn't help you, JTHM, but I hardly ever use landscape mode in my Touch (Elf) so perhaps the way the Touch HD works is by design for people like me. The only time landscape mode offers any advantage to me is for photos, videos and web browsing. With the mini USB connector at the bottom, my Touch is always in its cradle in portrait orientation and it sits in the car more easily this way too.
I'm surprised there's no manually-activated landscape option in the software though.
(Sorry that this post doesn't really help you but perhaps it illustrates that for some (maybe most?) users the lack of landscape isn't a problem at all and may therefore be by design.)
Hang on, can I clarify.
I like to use my xda2i in landscape with my bluetooth travel keyboard sometimes. Does this mean that i can't just rotate the screen to landscape and use it in landscape mode with my keyboard??

I think that raziel1 has already answered that question? Use Gyrator2 or Gsen both of which can be found in this forum.
It does seem to be missing a trick by not have some software button built in to switch the screen though.
I had one flaw with the HD: The typing. I wanted (like Iphone) to use the keyboard in landscape so i had more room for my fingers. But the HD doesn't do that standard.
I installed Gyrator 2 and set it to switch to landscape when i use my keyboard. In every application, now when I use my keyboard and tilt the device, the screen rotates.
It made my HD even better.
Which is better? Gsen or Gyrator? I know they have other features but I only want an app to rotate landscape and uses minimal memory as I guess it needs to be running on start up.
ok, gyrator is a PROGRAM. I thought it was another handset or something. oh as long as there is soemthing you can do te get the landscape working that's sweet for me. I'm really close to buying one of these beasts!
I'm surprised that TomTom doesn't rotate automatically.
I've sure I've seen screen shots of it in Landscape mode and wouldn't have thought those web site's had installed any other third-party screen orientation software.
Beards.
You can also purchase Resco keyboard. It has large keys that you can use with your fingers. Well that depends how big your fingers are. Best to download a copy of the program, install it and test it out.
And since the screen is 3.8, it should give you plenty of space on top to see your message?

yeah, after another reboot it's working now. tried it in a couple apps and seems fine so far... funny thing is with the streaming video app, when you go to fullscreen it auto rotates the screen, but as soon as you move the hd to landscape position gyrator rotates it again... will need to check out the docs on how to add exceptions.

I just purchased HD and realized that Phat pad does not work on it all and even VS notepad does not work. Can anyone suggest a workaround or a note taking application with similar features of Phatpad for HD please?
Thank you.
Apmemo will do the job
You could also check out PenReader. It is supposed to convert your hand-writing into text characters. It supports different languages. I don't know how good it is or how well it works with the HD, but you could still check it out.
A link to apmemo is here.
If you try either one, let us now how they work. I'm curious too, but I haven't gotten my HD yet.
tested both
Apmemo works
Pen reader installs but cant find program..tried putting on both storage card and direclty on device.
JM
Thank you very much. Apmemo is working right. But, it does not have the animation feature, which I need. I wish Phatpad or similar one with animation worked on HD.
Thank you all.
Thanks @staged2 for testing them both. Hm, I wonder why it can't find PenReader after installation.
@palur: What animation feature are you referring to? I don't know the program, so that's why I ask.
Phatpad has a feature to animate the pages and I created several medical animations to explain to parents and students. I can not use it any more. If a fix for Phatpad or Vs notepad is not released, I may have to return the HD and go for Omnia
thank you.
Oh, I see. And now I'm curious about your animations. I'm a medical student.
Well, I was an Omnia fan until the HD came out. Hopefully you'll find a fix for Phatpad. If I come across anything, I'll let you know.
BTW - do you have any medical ebooks that you would recommend? If so, what format do you like the best (i.e. iSilo, Mobipocket etc..)? I know this is a bit off topic here - but I was just curious. A big reason for me getting a smartphone now is to have information handy at the hospital. My HD should arrive this coming week.
Palur,
Have you tried using Phatpad with WVGA Fix?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451694
I'm also a huge Phatpad fan and would love to know if it can work before getting a touch hd.
Hope this helps and, please, let us know how it goes.
Sadly,It does not make phatpad or Repligo work.
I prefer Skyscape products better. Isilo works quite well on VGA but I have not tried on HD though.
mhh, here is phad pat working!
what exactly didnĀ“t work?
Fimrware: 1.14.407.3
You can not draw and create a new note but can view old notes.
Hey guys,
has anyone tried this on the X1?
http://labs.opera.com/news/2009/02/20/
interesting, it's listed as b2 which has been out for a while..
I'll give it a go in a bit.
It's build 15894.
works really well, and gears support is nice (you need to download the plugin)
