I have recently set lock code, but it requires 4 numbers at minimum, but I would like to use only one or two because it takes too much time to enter four.
Any tips are more than welcome!
I usually don't do this, but I would need this function really badly. If anyone can do this, I am also prepared to pay.
Why don't you better disable the PIN lock?
Setting to 1 number(which is not possible) would be too easy to guess (if you are concerned about security). If you are not, just disable it at Start > Settings > Lock and use the simple slide to unlock.
Well, I don't want disable PIN lock for a reason, because I don't want people to have access to it while I am away.
But then again, when you need phone badly, entering 4 digi numbers is annoying, so I would set only two numbers.
This would be time saver and I doubt they would guess it, even if I would set only one.

you must be joking right? it would only take a maximum of 10 guesses to get into your device if your code is one digit.

In theory, maybe. But I am talking about people I know, and again it's a screen lock code, not main PIN.
Hard to get my point right?

Only if they know your pin is only one digit...
I have a lock applied through my Exchange Server connection and use a one character pin for exactly the same reason as the OP - I realise it's not military grade security but it is a deterrent.
I know PocketShield beta 3.3 has a new PIN lock screen, don't know which is the minimun PIN lenght but you can give it a try...

Pocket shield isn't a free though unfortunately ($10).

Who would be up for the task to develop a simple Phone Unlocking Application that is easy to use and wont use a lot of memory/battery.
I was thinking of something similar to S2U2 but have a differnt unlock window to answer calls.
When just unlocking the screen it should show standard icons like network, battery, wifi, etc... and also include missed calls or new messages... i was thinking of something similar to this:
And when a call comes in it should display the Callername and Phonenumber similar to this:
Also when locking, the screen and buttons should be locked similar to how it works in ThrottleLock
I was thinking something similiar

The picture you show in this threat,
Have you designed them self? or is it a add on that already exist?
They are just graphical mockups....
I'll second the request.
I would like a S2U2 less invasive and more integrated on the system graphics...
Sounds good !!!
Very few memory.... just doing one thing but doing it well !!!! locking the phone even in phone call coming in and unlock it to be sure you won't answer by error...
There are a lot of apps locking the phone during a phone call entry... but there always do much more.. so aren't really light...

i like the idea... Why not just PM A_C and see what he has to say?
Looks perfect!
This is exactly what I am looking for!
Hey guys
anyone who can tell me how to change the controls of the htc lockscreen so that the "menu" button doesn't unlock the tattoo? Is it possible at all?
thx in advance for your answers
Pottkopp
there is not a official option for that maby a hack but i never seen it
I'm interested in this too. I keep unlocking the phone when it's in my pocket then call random people and whatnot.
There is one app called Lockbot Pro.. try it.
tried it and I think that this app is very big but thats not the problem the problem is that it's also very slowly loading the clock.. rly no other way than using other apps? I like the htc lockscreen except of that enerving "menu" unlocking..
I can try to port the hack for nexus, but I'm not sure that I can get it to work... anyone would be interested?
I am! you'd be my hero if you get it to work! what's the lockscreen on the nexus looking like? or you only port the hack?
i'll try and port the hero mod aswell
where you get the code for this? maybe I can try something, too
Last evening I managed to reboot my phone into recovery mode and erase it. All in the pocket of my jacket!
That button is evil...
wow thats very bad.. till now I had luck with it so that I lost no data or money because it started apps that require wifi because i disabled mobile data connections but I hate taking it out of my pocket and seeing the display enabled and that the battery is low.. and I think I'm speaking (or writing ) out the thoughts of every user in this moment when I say someone MUST change this
Two pages in this thread and no solution yet, but the simplest solution is just to buy a proper hard case, like this:

I have one of those (similar but cheaper) and never had any problem with unlock.
I have H24 my tattoo in my pocket without nothing, and it doesn't wake up alone...
What can I say? I live a more active life..
..any news? pls post your progress
I looked at a few lock screen replacement apps but they all sucked.
They're either unstable or slow... or both.
I also looked at the API but I can't code. The menu key is KEY_SOFT1 or code 229. I'm guessing this needs to be disabled in the HtcLockScreen.apk app? There's no source code for it anyway
that's where baksmali comes into the picture ;D
What about the Google lockscreen? Isn't there a source code for that one? Or for the lockscreens of those custom roms..
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
no news about that problem???
After stupidly posting a question in the Win7 forum about disabiling the screen lock while the phone is plugged in and playing music, I was directed to an option under the 5 minutes that says "Never". However, this option does not show up on my phone...any idea why?

I think it got removed with Nodo. Becos prior to Nodo my DVP had it and after nodo, its gone.
I see, is there a workaround? As you may know, we cant edit the registry on the DVP.
I am guessing that it has to do with AMOLED screen and its issue with screen burn-in.
All of HTC's and LG's (all of which uses LCD) have the "never" option, but none of Samsung's (which has AMOLED) have that option.
Odd. The "never" option is still there for me.
Apparently yours is either different or pre-nodo which is highly doubtful because everybody has nodo.
Are you talking about the Screen time-out setting? I still have the Never option and I have NoDo w/ firmware 105.
Yep, I'm all NoDo'd up plus the security update.
And, we all are talking about screen time out settings, yeah?
yes we are talking about screen time out settings. Here is a pic to help clear things up:

Little blurry but the meaning is there.
Just checking. Seemed to be some slight confusion brewing. But, yes... the "never" option is still available for me. I also have one of the DVPs which is experiencing fewer issues than many have reported.
Related? Ask Mr. Owl.
The Never option is only available when you have the password turned off. When you turn the password feature on, the Never option disappears and you are reset to the default 5 minutes.
well this is extremely confusing. I went to settings to check out the theory to see if its true and my phone locked up - first time ever. I havent done anything with it all day, no calls or texts have come in...
I will further investigate this.
restarting the device solved the problems.
I still see no never option, even when the password is turned off.
Hi all,
I was wondering. I would like to see an unlock screen with 6 (or 9/12) small pictures/icons in random postions. The user can make up a small story so he would know in which order he should slide/swipe to the different pictures to unlock the phone. Also a nice feature would be if the usere could pick the pictures which would be displayed on the lockscreen. The position of the displayed pictures/icons should always be random to ensure security.
Is there something like this out there for android??
Regards, RR69
I think it's too easy and fast to solve. Why not a lockscreen with something like this to solve?

in the room of requirement
just focus hard on what u want
I switched from sprint to T-Mobile. They screwed up and let us keep our old phones and did a discount for the hassle. I figure I don't need 2 S8's so I would just sell it. Welcome to my nightmare.....
So I factory reset the phone to get all my data off, I did this through the settings menu. No issues the phone reset. It was at the beginning new phone screen so I just left it.
The phone is at a password screen and I have maybe 5 passwords at most that I use various combos of, none of these work. I do some searching online and find out how to get into certain menus and do resets, and re-flash the stock rom. Even after those it wants a password.
I then think I'll just use find my phone with google and unlock it. Well it is a sprint phone and I have T-Mobile now so it has no connection, and I can't get past the password to get to the wifi settings. So google says it can't find my phone.
I contact Samsung and since it’s been less than a year they say they will help. I send in the phone and they send me it back with the crack on the back of the phone fixed and nothing else. I called and they said they have record of me asking for help with a password problem. I then ask if I can send it back and get that taken care of and they said it would cost 150$ because they fixed the phone......huh?
I really just want this password off the phone. At this point it’s a matter of I am more curious about finding a way to get it off the phone than selling it. I’m also open to all ideas. Taking it apart, flashing something third party on it.
If you need pictures I will get them up shortly. Or a video. At work currently, so I can probably reply in a timely manner. If you need more info please ask and I’ll try and get whatever you need
Thanks in advance

EDIT 2- sigh* I don't know why the images are sideways. They show the lock screen // the fact that is is not FRP locked // i have done a factory reset
fixed!!!!!!!!!!
I chose not to connect to the wireless network after setting it up and there are no longer any locks....no idea what that was about.
