i have some probs when downloading cabs or zips with opera 9.7 build in Rom 1.66.
I have to download the file 2 times, cause the first time opera shows it is completed, the download is corrupt or some bytes are still missing...
anybody same problem?
I've found that if you open the cab rather then safe installation fails every time, but if I save it it installs no problems

Hi
I've experienced lots of problems with the Wizard's midlet manager, especially when trying to use Opera Mini.
It sees I've got a working connection, but when loading any web page I get an error message - critical error kind of thing.
I hard reset my Vario several times hoping it would solve the problem... in vain.
has any update to the Midlet Manager been released? And where to get it from? I checked the TAO site, but no downloads are available from their site (they seem to ship direct to HTC and the likes).
Alternatively, what is the work around? I want to use the Midlet for Google maps and other midlets. Thanks
Download the attached zip file but DO NOT unzip it. Overwrite the one in \Windows on your PDA. Once your done, start up Midlet Manager then Menu -> About and confirm the following version numbers...
Runtime MIDP 2.0: v10.1.7.551 (Build 20060317)
That's the version I'm running and it works just fine with Google Local Maps and Opera Mini.
If after performing the above you still can't get Opera Mini working properly then I'd suggest uninstalling Opera Mini (tap and hold the icon and select uninstall) and then visit http://mini.opera.com in Pocket Internet Explorer and download Opera Mini again. If that page says something about recognising your device as an iPaq of some kind then just ignore it.
You may just want to scrap tao's manager and go for IBM's http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/IBMJ9MIDP.zip
I haven't used it, but some people like it. It displays satelite images in google local too.

Keitaro: Where did you get that update from?

The zip file came straight from a fresh install of a 2.24 ROM
I've now tried the first solution (the update to Tao's MIDLET) and the midlet manager freezes then crashes as a result!
No good...
Any idea why it does that, and any other work around to the problem?
Cheers
Ok perform this step as well, download this file...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=12426
...and overwrite the ones found in...
\Application Data\Tao\intent
and
\Windows
I've just done that, but in vain. the Midlet Manager still freezed then crashes. I can't even uninstall my old version of Opera mini and / or install the new one. The Midlet Manager crashes before I can do anything...
Any suggestion?
Maybe I should go back to the original Manager?
Navigate to...
\Application Data\Tao\intent\app\jam\midlets
...and delete the operamini folder and see what happens then.
If Midlet Manager still locks up then by all means replace rofs_target.zip and target.img.zip back with the versions you had originally... assuming you did back them up first
Just out of interest, what ROM version are you running and what Midlet Manager version did you have prior to all this messing around?
Thanks Keitaro.
My ROM is T-Mobile's UK ROM 1.6.2.4 - I am waiting for T-Mobile to release the new ROM.
Maybe that's why the updated Midlet manager does not work.
I did not backup the target.img.zip file unfortunately.
Could anybody on the T-Mobile's 1.6.2.4 ROM upload their Windows/target.img.zip file here please?
I could then downgrade my Midlet Manager.
thanks
You can always install the IBM Manager.
It's not as pretty, but it works.

Thanks

I can copy 2 of the files, but I can't overwrite or delete the original Opera 9.exe in the Windows folder. I've tried using Total Commader and ActiveSync file manager - and neither lets me delete or overwrite the old Opera 9 file. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Petrov.
according to the article, the performance is poor and the keyboard keeps popping up everytime you locate flash content on a page. Could be tricky for some to install and then it has to be re-installed everytime the phone is reset.
who needs the hassle ?
okay i tried it and it doesnt work really well. but i forgot to do a backup. can anyone give me a link for the original touch hd opera build which works fine?
thanks a lot
It works but very slow so you cannnot really use it. Finally my Opera crashes with the message "A problem has occured with Opera9.exe. Please tell Microsoft ..." I had to do a soft reset once ...

All I did when I tried a beta was remove the new install with "remove programmes" via the start button and the default browser reappeared.
I installed the Flash Player and, even though I couldn't copy the new Opera 9.exe across (I did copy the other two files across successfully), Opera now plays the Youtube video through Opera. However, the video is a slide show even once it's fully loaded - so it's not really usable.
This may be because I couldn't copy the new Opera 9.exe across to the /windows folder...

Rename the old file first.
I have a problem with 9.5 where when I select to download a file it shows as 0 bytes to download and then obviously doesn't download.
Does any one else experience this problem (I am on o2)
i have downloaded Opera 9.7 beta (on storage card) but i can not zoom the page on my Touch Pro 2. Any idea who does it works?
don't think you will be able to get that to work before htc release a new version. The rom development for tp2 is slow due to not being able to find one with hynix ram

Hi,
Yes I do ... seems that some files are downloaded by opera without the extention .... ie for a "default.pls" file the donwloaded file in the storage will be ... "default"
Havent resolved this issue yet
I recently installed Opera 9.7 build 35432 from the leo rom, I was unaware installing this cab would overwrite my stock opera settings ITS NOT EVEN IN THE PROGRAM LIST ANYMORE! When I had previously installed the opera 9.7 beta 1 there would be two opera browsers in my programs menu
This was not the case this time, Installing Opera 9.7 overwrote the stock where there is only one Opera browser in the programs menu
With that said does anyone know where in windows I can find the stock opera? Whats the filename??? I would download the stock from the opera mobile all versions thread but that would take up some memory so I wanna find it in the windows folder if there
Ok, I have a stock TMOUS HD2. Whenever I download any cab file from near anywhere with whatever opera that came with my hd2 (9 i think) it fails the install. Yet, whenever I do internet explorer, or Omarket, etc, it works fine. Is there any way to go about fixing this?
