GTalk in all (at least all I've tried) Donut (or even earlier) ROM have the same issue:
if new message comes, it will show up in the notification bar, click on it will open up a GTalk view, but sometimes the new message is NOT shown in the GTalk view. it's really annoying, I have to check what it is in Gmail chat log.
tried official ADP 1.6, CM, SuperD, they all have the same issue, and sometimes FC occurs while clicking the new message notification.
tried xROM Eclair once about two months ago, the new GTalk in Eclair do not share the same issue, but the ROM itself is not stable enough for everyday use, tried OpenEclair 1.2.1 later, there is no market... I revert back to CM.
last night, after two months time since the first Eclair try, I guess I might give those fast poping Eclair ROMs another chance:
king's Legend2G1 1.1.1, never boot.
OpenEclair 1.3, notification/icon/string messed up like hell.
revert back to CM again... I guess there is still no serious Eclair ROM for G1 as of now.
all I want is Donut without the GTalk bug... any suggestions? the rumored official Eclair update for G1 is the only hope?

I know this is a general question , but i was wondering whats up with them. Are they all working the same? Same options, same stuff inside? What are you running and why?
DARCHLEGENDv4.1
I have been testing constantly for the past 4 days. I ran damagev1 for 2 days and really liked it. When the new darchlegend v4.1 came out i started trying to make an aosp like fix for it......And i was successful. So this is my new setup:
-AOSP notification bar
-Pearl colored espresso bar
-Helix Launcher(for AOSP_N1 Look&Feel)
-My LWP Fixes to make them a STABLE part of the rom
-All the rest of the features that are part of the Legend rom
The reasons i chose this rom were because its the newest legend build. My present setup has features that wont even be included in the official 2.1(lwp+N1 launcher +7 screens). Its official, My rom hunt is OVER......FOR NOW....
Cant remember where I read it but somewhere someone linked an image of the release specs for 2.1 and lwps were on it. Not sure if its true or not, but it might be.
I'm also using DarchLegendV4.1 its the snappiest, cleanest, and most fully functioning one I've used so far between both 2.0 fresh roms and damages. But really it comes down to what your looking for they're all pretty functional. The Legend leak has friendstream which is awesome if you use facebook and twitter it also has a google latitude widget which rocks. I was using fresh2.0b2 for quite awhile but with the fresh roms and the damagecontrol one I had issues with my contacts syncing with facebook and grabbing pictures sometimes it did and sometimes it didnt and some times it synced but no picture until they called lol. I'm noticing no sync issues with the legend build (except gmail but out of all of them out so far they all do that on and off).
Well thats my quick review hope it helps, but as a side note if you nandroid back up you cant loose anything by testing them all. My suggestion flash one for a awhile and see if you like then backup and flash another. Hope that helps.
DamageControl v1.0
- at the time I flashed it, it was the only fully functional 2.1 ROM
- the smoothness, speed, and responsiveness of my Hero now is like an iCan't (absolutely no lag)
- everything functions perfectly - trackball light, LED, sync, contacts, MMS, EVERYTHING
- even w/ a pig like Home++ it's amazingly fast
* only thing is I WISH is that it came w/ the stock Android notification bar (white)
I was running DC 1.0, but found out that stereo blue-tooth actually works on the stock Rom so now I am back to stock until the release!
I was having really bad skips and pauses with any Rom so I just figured it was A2DP just sucked, but for some reason it just sucks on all the Roms that I have tried, and I have tried at least 15 of them! Found out day before yesterday someone else was having the same issue as I and went back to the stock Rom and everything was perfect!
Ok guysv thanks. What about thaat gumbo kernal? Is that included with all of the 2.1 roms. Should i also flash that new radio too? Freshes rom.

I am on damagecontrol 1.1 and my button lights and trackball light still act wonky, did I miss a fix?
An "Unleashed" 2.1 .
what is that?
Its a fast secret, lol. Its pretty much bits and pieces of the Legend and Incredible dump.
im soooo bored at work lol care to share?
I went back to Gumbo 1.5c. Reason being is that there are still too many bugs on all the 2.1 releases. This also means im done making different themes on 2.1. Its because every single 2.1 ROM uses different frameworks some older than others...If I make it for one not everyone will be happy because they cant use it on another...oh well....
im nand restoring as we speak my time without signal just started freaking out with 94% time with out signal...i can wait a week or so plus i kinda forgot how 1.5 feels haha

I hear ya, that's when I do most of my phone hacking!
I keep loading up Darch 4.1 but then go back to Damage. DC just runs really really well and everything works.
I do like friendstream, and I like the new icon buttons, bookmark widget, etc from the legend build.

I'm working on my own legend based rom I plan on calling ZenDroid.
Also the 2.1 releases have a kernel of their own. Gumbo kernel will break them.

Not that I'm aware of... Only fix I applied was the MMS one... Lights were never a problem. Once at the very first boot they wouldn't turn on but after I rebooted haven't had a problem since..

Have you tried the "Huge Battery Life Fix" thread? fixed mine, 24 hours later still not an issue any more.
Darchlegend 4.1 may not be quite as smooth as damages rom for some people but I'm loving it so far mns was my biggest deciding factor though
I finally took the plunge and rooted/loaded a new ROM on my wife's phone. Everything went smoothly and I figured that the best/easiest choice for a new ROM would be the CyanogenMod ROM 6.0 that just came out.
Since I loaded the new ROM, I've noticed a few things that I hope someone can help me fix.
First, one of the main reasons that I wanted to load the ROM is so I could get rid of that Amazon Mp3 app. The Froyo ROM I installed still had it
Also, I've noticed that when I try and rotate the screen, it takes several seconds (some times close to a minute) to actually rotate. This mainly happens right when I unlock the phone.
My wife says that the option to have separate tones play when an e-mail comes in vs an SMS has gone away. I haven't played with it, so IDK about this. She just wants to know if the message received was an email or a text.
There were some other things, but I don't remember what they were, so if I remember I'll post. But those are the big ones. If there is anything I can do to fix them, let me know please! Also, if there is a better, smoother, faster ROM for MT3G 1.2 than the CYGN 6.0, I wouldn't be opposed to reflashing.
Thank you for any help!

Let's start off by moving this to General.
The best way to remove a system app (Yes, Amazon MP3 is considered a system app) is by installing Titanium Backup and using that app to remove any system app that you don't want installed. I used it recently to remove Street View (Street.apk) and I was able to install the newest version from Market after a reboot.
There should be no reason why it would take any more than a couple of seconds to rotate your home screen. How many widgets and shortcuts do you have? Try locking the Launcher app to memory. That may help.
SMS notification:
SMS app, Settings, check Notifications, Notification Settings, Select Ringtone
Gmail notification:
Gmail, Settings, check Email notifications, Select ringtone
Email notification:
Email, Settings, check Email notifications, Select ringtone
Thank you! Sorry for posting in wrong forum. I debated General and Android... should have gone General!
As per the homescreen, I believe she only has 2 widgets: Analog Clock and some task killer widget. IDK if the task killer widget is the root of the problem, but I will have her remove it and see if that fixes it. I also don't know how to check if it is using a lot of system resources. Is there some kind of Taskmgr app that will tell me if that app is a resource hog?
Thank you for your response!
That Task Killer Widget. Oh My, that is one resource hogger. I tried it on my Tilt with Froyo ... it hogged up badly . I gave up, and got me a new myTouch 3G 1.2 off ebay.
Ok, I got the sound thing all working (really easy. Should have looked b4 I asked) But the rotation is still really slow
I was given a Droid to help develop a mobile application recently, and even though it has similar specs to the MT3G, and the same OS version, there is not lag in the screen rotation. I've installed most of the same apps on the Droid and still there is no lag.
Is there something else that could be causing the lag? Any thoughts?
Thanks
Have you uninstalled task killer yet? they actually do way more harm than good.
Froyo on Mt3g 1.2?
Correct me if I'm wrong, please, but I thought the only Froyo images for MT3g 1.2 were buggy at best and didn't support wifi or camera, among other things.
A guy I work with just put Froyo on his G1 and says it works faster than Eclair. I want in on that action!
As a MT3G user, I've found that the 6.0 Rom from CY is horrible with a Mytouch sadly. It's the rom not agree'ing with the Mytouch that is the problem, not the phone.
I'd suggest the 6.1 RC1 Mod from Cy, or this linked Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814142
I've had no problem with the linked rom working for me. I had some minor issues with the RC1 not recieving all my texts, though honestly I upgraded my radio at the same time as changing over to the new Rom, so I'm not sure if it was the ROM or the Radio.
Kind of a pointless post but if anyones interested heres my observations thus far from flashing the three things i listed below. I'm really enjoying it overall. So I dont know which has the problems.. I have DJ05 modem, Stock DJ05 rom unrooted, and geeknik superfast (always current) test release kernal.
Tetris is broken no matter what I do... (I paid for it :'c ) tried restoring it with titanium... installing with the apk from my friends phone / putting the apk in the apps folder... and even downloading the similar one from the apps market. No go they either dont show up or freeze on boot up. i loved that version of tetris! QQ
V. Visual voicemail, for some reason when my face gets close to the sensor it turns off my visual voicemail. so ?I can only use it with speakerphone and face up. I know google voice does the same thing, I like VVM.
Swype... when I correct a word it will one in five times put the corrected word at the end of the paragraph instead of replacing the highlighted word. cant figure out why
as for the good. reception seems more reliable... 3g seems more reliable... phone feels faster... battery lasts longer... gps works properly... life is good
one day when we get proper flash, i will be truly happy!
Very odd regarding swype, mine worked perfectly after DJ05 update. JT's new clean DJ05 has the updated swype, you should install that and see if it fixes your problem. Good luck
Can someone check a possible bug for me, go to either email\gmail click on settings and then click on select ringtone, do you get a FC?
Tetris plays fine for me.

ROM is Outstanding
GPS lock in less than 5 sec
New Swype
new Market
new contact
gmail
Launcher pro Plus
Life is GOOD!!!
My Fascinate Solid
Next Move - 2.2 / 2.3 Rooted
everything works great for me ...when I installed dj05 modem then got to the clockwork menur when to the partion menu before flashing & I mounted the system data then the flashed super clean v.9 rom with stupid fast oc kernel evything works fine dont know about VVW cant stand it bloat ware swyp A ok
"It works fine for me as long as I have previously enabled the Email notifications check box."
I second that.
Dj05 actually solved some really weird shutdown/startup behavior I had.
A lot of times I'd power down my phone and it would start right back up again... sometimes it would take a really long time or just freeze powering down. Weird stuff like that........ all fixed
I think geekniks has the updated swype as well because its different... there seems to be more spacing between the letters. swype in general is being really weird. I might try JT's...... I think geekniks is built off JTs though
not sure.
Overall, I'm loving DJ05. I have 2 problems so far, both minor.
Video player and My Uploads FC on boot up (solved this by deleting both, lol)
Ok So i have installed multiple DK28 Roms and every single one of them seem to work fine but every time i receive a sms or a new email or sometimes if i open the keyboard, the phone randomly reboots, and its not a normal reboot it reboots quicker than a full reboot. I dunno if the DK28 Gingerbread theme is causing this or maybe the gingerbread keyboard, but its getting really annoying and i need some help on this please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, depending on what ROM you use my suggestion would be to start fresh and then begin adding things as you find stability. Once you get the issue after a single mod added you'll have your violator though I've used a few DK28 roms and the gingerbread theme without the issue so my guess would be the keyboard.
Sounds to me like the known bug with the AOSP lock and DK28. I think the issue was fixed, but I am back to DI18. Perhaps if you flash back to the TW launcher your problems will disappear...

thanks
So, Nexus S is getting a 2.3.2 OTA that fixes SMS redirect, I get this bug alot. Can we expect a addon for current ROMS or implementation? I honestly run into this bug alot and it is annoying.
Just out of curiosity, to which bug are you referring? I'm familiar with two: the bug that takes you into a random text conversation regardles of which conversation you select, and a second, which can result in texts randomly being sent to the incorrect recipient.
I have the former problem every day. The latter, I have never had (to my knowledge).
Yes I am regarding both of those bugs. It just happens to me and the Nexus One just got the fix.
