Amazing Nexus One Powers! - Nexus One General

I just got done using my Nexus One to have a conversation with my neighbors dog. Long story short, and I mean long story involving me having to get the dog several bowls of food and having a hard time keeping him on track....
Anyways, it turns out that he used to be my great grandfather, but wasn't very nice, so has slowly worked his way back up from dung beetle to man's best friend!
So, to sum it up, my Nexus One allowed me to communicate with my dead great grandfather, and with the ability to talk to animals I am going to see if I can find anymore long lost family members! This will also allow my best friend to finally talk to his girlfriend.

What are you saying, that Animal Translator isn't legit? I swear... that would be one heck of an emotional roller coaster to put me through!

I came home last night from work, my car was in my room mewoing up a storm. I thought this would be a good time to use the new app by Google that translate animal sounds into our language. My cat meowed a few times into my phone and it translated into "Where have you been all day!" I was acutally shocked. I mean, I was gone for about 9 or 10 hours with out seeing him. Amazing Nexus One powers indeed!

Yah its crazy accurate if you ask me, my dog just told me he was cold after being outside the whole day. Google rocks!

This time let's share some interesting, funny, scary or any story that you can share. Let's talk about our stories with our HTC HD2s!
Let's try to have some fun while reading different stories between you and your beloved HTC HD2. Let's share not only good things that happened but also the bad stuffs, and maybe someone out there can learn something from your story.
So what are you waiting for? Start sharing your stories here!
I'm currently staying here in Riyadh because of work. Every once in awhile, me and my friends went out. We went to Khobar that day, it was weekend here so we have no work. About 4-5 hours travel by car just to get there, so we have a few stop overs just to go to the cr, buy some drinks and get some gas. On the mid-way of you trip, we have this stop over on a gasoline station, i went to the other car to check for our other friends there. Then we continued our trip. After more or less 20 mins, i started to noticed that i can't find my phone anywhere. I didn't let my friends know it at first because i thought i just put somewhere in my bag. But after 10 mins of looking, my heart starts to beat fast. At that time i only have my phone for 2 months i think, so i was so nervous but i didn't let my friends see it through me. Then i asked one of them to please call my number so that we would know if the phone was on the car or not. Then he said that it was ringing but we are not hearing anything inside the car. Then he said that a saudi guy answered the phone, at this point i don't know what to do and i was so scared. Then i told him that if he's just only joking it was not funny. Then he handed over to me his phone and when i said "hello.." someone replied from the other side. I was so scared that the guy who found my phone will not return it to me anymore. Then he told us that he found my phone on a gasoline station. Then he said that we will meet on the next bridge. After reaching the next bridge at a speed of 180km/hr, we called the guy again. He said that he was waiting there for 10 mins and he left already. He said that we will meet on the next bridge again. At this point im completely losing hope of seeing my phone again.
When we reached the said bridge, we called the my phone again and the guy said that he was waiting there for quite sometime and that he was on his way to Dammam. We told him to wait for us at the road going to Dammam, then he told us that he was going to a wedding and he was on a hurry. Then he said that in the evening that day he will be in Khobar for the wedding and he will return my phone there.
I didnt enjoy the rest of our trip because im still worried about my phone. Then as soon as it get's dark, we called the guy again. And he said that he was in Khobar that time and we will meet. I'm still nervous at that point, but my friends told me that the guy will return my phone.. blah blah blah.. Then the guy told us to hurry up because he will be leaving soon. So we asked him to give us 3 more mins and we will be there.
Then when we arrived at the said place, we saw the guy on a Lexus Black 2008 edition i think. The guy handed the phone to us with out any questions.
I was so thankful that my phone was returned. And imagine, i dropped the phone in a gasoline station but then when it was returned to me there are no scratches or anything, thanks to my Piel Frama leather case!
Since that day, i never let even a split second that i can't see my phone. I promised myself to take care of it very well. I treated my phone as if i was taking care of a cute puppy.
As of today im still waiting for my Otterbox Defender Case to be shipped. And im willing to give my very best for my phone!
That's all...
Thanks,
Pongskie
Great story, glad to hear you got it back. I'd be panicking loads if I thought I'd lost my hd2 and someone had taken it.
I was annoyed when someone stole my Sony Ericsson P800 back in the day.

Mine is a bit lame, but over the past 2 weeks myself and my wife have been in hospital with our 3 week premature little girl in nursery care, during that time the HD2 was my saving grace, being able to stay on keep in touch with friends on facebook and general web browsing, take regular photos of our girl to update my wife while she was recovering from the surgery (c-section) and bub was in nursery, post online and send to family, uploading video to youtube etc. Everything is in this phone, there is not one limitation and thats what I love about it.

Since I got my HD2, my wife was on me about getting new phone and cost. all the way up until we were out and about and needed directions and needed to look up the store we were looking for. My HD2 came in like a champ. Yeah, I know I could have edone this with most phones, but for me, I like the flexability of this phone. and the size!!! I'm 6' 8'' and this phone fits me. Finally a phone that does not fill like I'm the giant in the room. BTW, I'm the normal one!!! the rest of you are muchkins!

bump...
No understanding.
When I put the kids to bed obviously I have my HD2 just in case I need to check something.... My eldest daughter has now put a sign up outside her room "no telefon" she's only 6 still learning to spell.
Obviously my wife loved that and was thinking of getting one for the bedroom.
On a sad note my HD2 has been away getting fixed for 3 weeks (been using the old touch diamond which is still good) how they all laughed when I told them it had broke. Getting it back tomorrow hopefully.
p.s.
That's not my real name, if anybody saw this thread apart from HD2 owners we're F****ed. They wouldn't understand.
On a recent camping trip to the English Lake district, the torch came in really useful
for picking my way through the guy lines to find the toilet late at night.
Also was able to take photos and upload them straight to Facebook
so family could be kept up to date, was good to be able to use the router function
as well to run my laptop from a field awesome....

Caught a thief red handed...

Excuse my typing below but its 4:15AM...I've been drinking..
So I went out with a few "car forum" buddies out today. We decided to head to local bowling alley which honestly ****ing hate. So we're playing there and I decide to leave my phone at a chair in the area we're in. So I see an old ex co-worker, he's 2 buddies and some girl. I say what's up, etc. After they dip...within a minute I'm looking for my phone and I'm like ****...looking everywhere..nothing. I don't forget my phone ever so I know I left it on the chair next to my friend's keys, etc. So I tell my buddy to go outside with me cause I just had a feeling that one of these guys might've taken them.... So as I'm walking outside they look over and I call my ex co-worker over to ask him if he's seen my phone which looks like an iPhone (Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S..lol). And he's like nah man sorry. At the same time I notice one of his friends step over a few feet and get next to some beige looking Crown Vic and acts like he's looking at the tire...I paid no attention to that. And I'm thinking to myself..damn I left the phone on vibrate. But then I remembered I purchased an app called "Where's my droid" and set special "words" that if I text it it can switch off vibrate and turn the ringer to the highest volume and even turn on the GPS so I can track it. So I text it with my friend's phone. Within 30 seconds I hear the phone ringing....I'm looking and looking...and I see it at the Crown Vics rear passenger tire. Then one of them which wasn't the one starts to get all defensive...."That isn't my car"...."I drive that car there"....and at the same time Im telling him that I don't think the Vibrant grew legs and walked over by this tire. He's buddy was the one who stole it. My ex coworker and his girl were in shock that their 2 friends just did that ****. Before even a fight could break out in the parking lot my buddy calm me down.

I've never tried Where's My Droid..I have Lookout but I also have another app called SMS Commander that does the same thing and a lot more. You can silence it, set it to loud or vibrate too. You can send it a command to forward all the texts going to it to another phone. You can get the location of your phone. You can set it on Spy Mode and it will fwd SMS messages to whatever number you want, tell you phone #'s that call your phone and even send you GPS location of your phone when the call was answered or placed. You can even send it a command to send someone a text message and it will look like it came from your phone. This app works great. I've had it since my G1 days..I installed it on my Nexus, my MyTouch Slide and my Vibrant.

Is this forum full of cavemen or what (no offense Geico dude)? Maybe the real learning moment here is to not set down a $500 phone and walk away. Definitely a good read, and I think you've convinced me to install one of these apps, because you never know.
And to the Neanderthals with all the great advice above, for the love of humanity, please don't procreate.

well guys i always wondered when it was going to happen and tonight was the night. on my way home tonight i was looking for my phone to call my fiancee to see if she wanted me to pick her up anything to eat. i reached for my looked down to find the power button to turn the mofo on looked up and i was facing a curb. i hit the brakes and cut hard left spun out and started swerving right my whole left side met the curb and needless to say my car is completely ****ed!! luckily my friend owns a body shop and was able to get a tow truck out to my car asap b4 any cops showed up. unfortunately im looking at about 2 thousand bones in repairs. so.... well just be careful things happen so fast and i really am lucky that this was all that happend. my car is tiny and could have been much worse. call me stupid if you want cause its true so just take care and dont use ur phone when your driving no matter how good of a driver you think you are.

Ouch. Glad you're unharmed. Also count your blessings since $2000 is somewhat more manageable than when there are cops and other parties are involved.
Glad to hear you're okay. Even though $2000 is a lot of money, it's nothing compared to your own safety and well being.

My phone is seated on the car air vent, also doing anything on your phone while the car is in motion is pretty dumb, if I must make a phone call I wait for a red light , or use Google voice action do dial.
I keep mine in a windshield mounted dock. That makes glancing between the phone and the road really quick. Even then I still won't mess with it unless I'm stopped or on a straight section of road with no traffic.

This is not another farewell thread

I was out on a bike ride and was just riding along and wham I got rear ended by a pickup truck going 30-40 mph. I never saw it coming. I had my Hero in my left rear pocket which should have been the initial impact point of the vehicle.
I lay on the road trying to breathe without pain and the first person on the scene was an off-duty fire battalion chief and he took care of me and called 911.
I was taken to the local trauma hospital where eventually my Hero was returned to me totally unscathed with MyTracks still running.
Inches from where the Hero was in my pocket I have a large hematoma and a fractured vertebrae (T10) and a ton of gross bruising. Everything else in my pockets was gone, every piece of clothing I had on was either ruined in the crash or cut off but my old old Hero lives on.
I'm proud of the thing, but I've sure been wanting a new phone and it seems I can't get rid of this thing even thorough extreme methods.
I've got 2 fractured vertebrae and a bunch of road rash, but no spinal nerve damage or anything else permanent (that we've discovered yet). I consider myself very lucky to be able to walk away from it.
Id say your Blessed. Glad your ok man.

MyTracks was running for 3:34:15 and split the track into 9 segments due to poor coverage in areas. I have it set to never split or never resume so it didn't reboot.

Forgot my phone this morning

I got to my office this morning and realized that I left my phone on the counter at home. I feel totally naked without it, and I am granting all of the devs a day off so I don't miss flashing anything new.
Much appreciated
I would have probably gotten "sick" and had to get off early

I had to drive to Pittsburgh from Philly for a weekend, realized I forgot my phone and turned around 2.5 hours into the drive to pick it up. I had a fully functional BB and ipad with me, but it's not the same.
I would go crazy without it in my Pocket or around me at all times. I admit it....my name is chad and I'm an evo/xda junky and there is no cure
Yes I always felt naked without my phone, but especially with this one with everything you need at your fingertips.

you waste company time flashing custom roms to your phone? I'm sure your management would love to know that lol. Please tell me you're self employed and this is your own business....

I got to my office this morning and realized that I left my phone on the counter at home. I feel totally naked without it, and I am granting all of the devs a day off so I don't miss flashing anything new...

I have done that and got that T-shirt too.... I think WE ALL HAVE!
I feel naked as a J-bird if I did not have my phone with me at all times....especially now that I upgraded to an Android!
I will never go back to a BB again!
Cheers!

So, after I picked my kids tonight and took them out of their car seats, my phone was sitting on back seat. I'm actually glad i found it or I would have been tearing up my house like a crack head looking for loose change.
Still though, what a long, rough day without it. I will be more careful
