Important - Question - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

Hi Dear Guys ,
Is it possible to flash stock rom of different seriel ( Region ) with out doing bepe hspl2 , i mean if i have stock rom with asian wwe and i download eu wwe from official htc site , can i flash that stock shiped eu wwe rom on my asian wwe serial hd2 with out doing any hspl or sspl
Thanks

Wow! Really important indeed!
If you'd have taken the time to read the stickies, you would know that it's not gong to work and you'll get an 'Invalid vendor ID' error message.
Why would you not want to flash HSPL? With HSPL2 available, it's easy to revert to stock SPL and flash a stock ROM, should you need to send your device for repair or anything.

No, you'll need to use either hspl or sspl.

@ tomasz
i was used before kovsky that was my 1st htc brand and its much differ with black stone
Dear Guys ,
according to study , stock spl only revert back by usb method , and my second question , after hspl2 can i use official ruu (htc offcial updater) for updating custom roms ? as i think if i use it to flash i dont need task29 as offcial updater clean even binary files .. any idea ?

HSPL2 can also be used to revert back to stock spl. After installing hspl, the flashing is the same as got the Blackstone, ie run the RUU. Some have used the official RUU instead of the CustomRUU to flash, but I haven't tried it and I just use Task29 prior to flashing. The whole thing from Task29 to installed rom takes only 5 minutes.

@ ClydeB1 Thanks
My stock HSPL is 1.66.0000
i can do any hspl2 version for me ?

You can do anything you want - HSPL2 is used to flash ALL version of HSPL and SPL

As long as you choose one of the spl's ending in HSPL and not 0000 you can flash to any cooked or stock rom. Use HSPL2 again to return to your original spl when needed.

Here you go mate. Bottom of first post in this thread. Don't forget HSPL 1.14 is only to be used used on roms based on pre 1.56, i.e. everything before 1.56. You will need to use HSPL 1.56 for all roms based on 1.56+
Thxs mate, as i said am new, a bit confusing.. U refered me to the site, but, it says "New version will work on SPL 1.54 or above ROMS ". so what should i do ?

SPL 1.54 and a rom based on 1.56 are 2 completely different things.
What rom are you trying to flash? If its just for a stock 1.14 rom then all youi need is HSPL 1.14
There is also this dummies guide fore flashing 1.56+ roms
OMG, am sorry, didnt know about the 'unsigned' before, doing the update now, thxs /

As I stated above you need to use the correct HSPL for whatever rom your using. If you want to use latest NRG rom you need to use HSPL 1.56. If your use incorrect HSPL you get colour distortions and unable to connect to make calls etc etc
Upgraded to latest hspl , and everything is fine.. Thxs//

I want to put 1.09 radio (that came in a 1.14 rom) in my HD that have 1.14 stock spl but now have Miri 21882 rom that entered there with USPL GUI v 2.5 ...
Now I must use USPL GUI v 2.5 again to flash the radio ?
May I just have to flash the radio because my SPL is 1.14 and radio 1.09 came from a 1.14 rom ?
Is possible put any radio in any rom ???

It is possible to put any radio on any rom...yes. Just re-use USPL and then flash radio. A number of roms come with radio's included. If you do not want this radio, after you have flashed rom, just re-use USPL again and flash your desired radio

Thanks for prompt info, however upon keying in my HD2 serial no, it says the software is not suitable for my mobile. Would you suggest I should still try with other links available and upgrade it (for Singapore). Many thanks.

Yes you should download from the Singapore page as the ROM at the HK site is for CHT whereas Singapore is either CHS or WWE.
I've have been running the HK 1.72.831.1 ROM for ages, then i decided to flash to this ROM, been using it for the last week, and for my HD2, this ROM is a pile of sh*t
issue's i've dicsovered so far
1. issues with launching video from album view, issues range from no video playback, to radio buttons disappear at bottom of screen....never had these issue wth 1.72.831.1 when playing the same videos
2. consumes lots of RAM ( 80-90 % ), compared to 1.72 ( 40-70ish% ), so much so that applications will fail, intermittant usage of opera for example.
It's a pitty, cause overall this ROM is much more responsive, and the radio seems more responsive too ( eg enable/disable wifi etc... )
Looks like i'll be rolling back to 1.72.831.1

Sir like mention almost everywhere; Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!
You need to remove HSPL before installing stock ROM 3.14! If you don't do it the above mentioned problems are normal!

Hi,
I just wanna share my experience.I just flashed the Stock ROM after many times consideration. I felt that no increase in term of speed [I used to flash Energy as a benchmark of ROM speed ] I mean it was slower than any cooked ROM. So I decided to go back to Cooked ROM. Now, I am using Carnage HD v.4.2 which is faster than the stock ROM.
In flashing the stock ROM, I had to remove HSPL2 by way of running HSPL2 from my PC (Win XP Pro SP3) and choose SPL 1.66. I succeeded, then I flashed the stock ROM also from my PC.
In flashing back to Cooked ROM, I use SSPL. First attempt, my PC got crashed (BSOD), I wasnt sure the reason of which. The second attempt, I succeeded.
Now I have SPL 3.03 in my HD2. I read that few users reported that they can downgrade the SPL. I am not sure whether it is safe. I need time to think about it.
Cheers....

After I flashed this ROM to my phone, upgrading it to any Artemis ROM via SSPL would load HSPL 1.42 instead of 3.03. Also, I've had problems with Artemis ROMS after flashing to this stock ROM, such as stuck on HTC boot screen or soft reset becoming hard resets. Could it be a problem with the HSPL? How do I make sure that it loads HSPL 3.03 when flashing Artemis instead of 1.42?

Have read it carefully and understood all the steps?
You have to downgrade your SPL to lower (older) SPL by flashing the older stockrom. Try find the older stock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
Then, after flashing your stock rom, you should install HSPL3, there you should select "SPL 2.08 HSPL".
Once it is installed, you can flash any custom rom.
Then you can install MAGLDR 1.12, dont forget to read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912416
good luck

Help installing WM7 on HTC HD 2 Leo

Hello
First of all I have to tell you all that I have read almost every page on the forum and tried to follow every step but it ends up with a new thing to install. I need a guide from the beginning.
I have a swedish HTC Leo HD2 from sweden
PB81100
SPL 3.03.000
ROM-version 3.14.413.2 SWE
Radioversion 2.15.50.14
From what i can understand i need to install.
A rom from the beginning that supports 576 MB and radio.
I need to install HSPL
I need to install MAGLDR 1.11
Then i need to install MDJs_CyanogenMod7_v.2.6_NAND_A2SD+
The problems I have from the beginning is that i cant find a rom that supports 576 MB radio. And I have such a high SPL 3.03.000 so I cant install HSPL. So the bootloader MAGLDR 1.11 wont install and I am stuck.
So please guys will you help me with a little guide how I shall do this and link to the downloads I need.
Much Appreciated Goran
You need to go to HTCs website and download an earlier version of the 3.14 ROM - 1.66 (HTC) or 1.72 (if it is branded). You will need to use your phone's serial number to download the ROM.
Flash the ROM. Now your SPL will be 1.66.0000
Now you can run HSPL2 and select 2.08.HSPL
Download the 2.15.50.14 RADIO (look in the WinMo6.5 ROM sectrion on here for it) and flash the RADIO.
It is now ready to start the WP7 flashing process.
Pay Attention!!!!

HTC HD2 Question

I just bought my HTC HD2 so I'm a newbie so my question is Why is there Hspl1 Hspl2 hspl3 hspl4? what is the need for 4 of them? Can anyone help me with this please.
The phone's BIOS allows you only to upgrade the ROM (operating system) with a newer version of the same of the one you already have installed. Thus you couldn't flash a custom ROM or even the standard HTC ROM if your phone came with an Telecom Operator branded ROM.
Why the different version of HSPL? They are developed up on the SPL that the phone came with or that was flashed with (as part of an official ROM update).
The main reason for different versions is the phones and stock spls that each version allows
Hspl regular and telstra with spl 1.42
Hspl2 regular with spl 1.42 to 2.08
Hspl1024 tmous only with spl 2.08
Hspl3 all models, spl up to 2.08
Hspl4 all models, all spls.
Ohh ok thanks alot for the information
So when I put my proper HSPL on my device I can install any custom rom too my phone?
You can use any Hspl for any rom, they don't have to match.
The exception is 3.14 roms which must have 3.03.0000 or 3.03.Hspl
If you are going down the nand android route, you must use 2.08.Hspl
It doesn't matter which version of Hspl.exe you use.
2.08.Hspl from Hspl2 is IDENTICAL to 2.08.Hspl from Hspl3 which is IDENTICAL to 2.08.Hspl from hspl4.

Yes and no.
Sometimes there is no need of HSPL.
Some custom roms don't need the presence of HSPL.
It depends on your desired custom rom.
And additionally, if your desired custom rom is not based on STOCK ROM 3.14 you don't need to install HSPL3.03 with HSPL4.
Personally I'm using Artemis on my HD2 without HSPL.
These are new for me, now i knew about HSPL too, thanks for everyone.

AFAIK STOCK ROM 1.66 as base and HSPL2.08 for MAGLDR.
I don't like to test WP7 on my HD2 because of the limited functionality at the moment and I'm very satisfied with Artemis.
So, to be sure have a look on HD2 Windows Phone 7 forums.

it would have been a nice idea to mention not only that you don't really need HSPL, but also exactly how you got like that without HSPL, for those who haven't heard of SSPL or Goldcards.

no custom winmo rom requires hspl, hspl (sspl, goldcard) are only required for the actual flash. Once the rom is loaded it will continue to work regardless of whether the spl is spl or hspl.

Maybe you are right and I wasn't precise enough.
I'm using Artemis ROM and there is no need to install HSPL3.03 or using a goldcard for flashing the ROM, if you can download STOCK ROM 3.14 from HTC homepage by entering your serial number or from your provider's homepage.
If there is no STOCK ROM 3.14 available for your device then you have to use HSPL or goldcard.
First you flash STOCK ROM 3.14 with its brought along installer and then the custom ROM (Artemis) with SSPL. Both from homescreen and your HD2 connected via Active Sync or Windows Mobile device center to your PC.
