During SMS composition, go to the Edit menu, select 'Options...' and then check 'Request SMS text message delivery notification'
Don't have this option??
Running WM2003 (TMO ROM4.01.00, RS6.24.01) and from today screen, New->SMS Message->Edit doesn't give me a check box for SMS delivery notification??? What software/version are you running to have this feature?

Other option that works for me on TMobile is put "*noti#" in the beginning of the message.
Thanks for the info, I would never have found that myself
NP....hope it works for ya.....
Does anyone know how to keep the sms delivery notification always on by default?
Nope, wish we could find a reg hack or something to add that line to the message automatically for us....
i am running 4.01.00 on orange and when i send an sms i get an sms delivered notification as an sms icon.
If you are on O2, the network doesn't support SMS Delivery Reports so even if the option on the handset was available, you would only get a Pending notice.
If you are on O2 payg just put *0# in the subject line and you will receive sms delivery notification. I just need a way of doing that automatically.
O2 Delivery reports
But if you use *0# people won't be able to reply to your texts! They will have to compose a new text rather than just hitting "reply"... very odd!
The notification can be requested with my t-mobile German machine in "bearb" / "optionen" - might be "edit" / "options" on an English machine.
Try this..

Hi guys n gals,
Anyone know if there exists any software that will allow me to c how many SMS i have sent each month?
Cheers in advance,
Immortal
pocketMax PhoneAlarm can do just that. It was meant to control your phone profiles. But comes with a powerful billing tool too. Can calculate your monthly bill and customise the billing including SMS send/receive cost, free minutes, monthly charges, credit limits, peak cost, offpeak cost, etc etc.
thnx for the suggestion, i tried it but didnt like it much, too complex for my liking, i only want a simple solution!
Thnx for the heads up anyway!
DKToday counts your minutes and sms. The other features can be disabled from the options. You can configure it by going to start-settings-system-today-items, click the today plug-in and then tap options. Very small and easy solution. I have attached the current version, but I don't remember if this version has the exe file in it or only the .dll. If the latter is the case, then search this forum for the thread "is there a call minute timer available for" in the Himalaya forum and get an older version from there, than replace the dll with the one in the file I attached.
Cheers Koksie, thats what im looking for.
One question, any idea on how to dismiss a missed call without dialing it again?
Hi ImmortalU, I don't think this is possible. At 0.00 it automatically starts a new day and then your missed call disappears... You can however try to disable the line that shows missed calls. If you go to the options menu op the today plug-in you can choose which lines to show. Possibly disabling one of the lines will remove the missed calls line.
how come it doesnt work on my mini? the sms counter stays at 000
You have to enable sms notification first. DKToday does not count the sms you have sent from POutlook, but counts the incoming sms delivery notifications. Dkot ( the writer) could not find another way to measure sms sending. No problem for me, I like to have a delivery notification anyway.
To do this you have to edit the registry but an easier way is to install the cab I attached and copy the cpl file found in the attached zip file to your /windows folder. With the second file you get a control panel applet in your start-settings-system that enables you to switch sms delivery notification on or off. The first file creates the registry settings that the cpl will work with. You can also manually enable sms delivery notification for each message you send in your messaging account. After creating a new text message, go to menu-options-and tick the box. However, this needs to be done again for each message you send. The two files attached will automatically handle notifications for each message.
great. thanks. my only problem now is if the delivery notification is charged to me by my operator.
Too bad for you! Luckily in Holland these delivery notifications are free. You could contact Dkot for help. good luck!
thanks for the quick replies koksie
you're welcome, I am sorry that you are charged for these notifications. Phone Alarm from PocketMax (I think) or Phone Dashboard can also count minutes and sms, but not freeware and these are large apps with much more functionality than I need. perhaps they fit your needs, you can always try them of course.
thanks for the info. ill try them out.
hi everyone, fyi if you want to clear a missed call you need to erase the entry in the call history, DK uses this list for the call entrys.
help me in getting some way of counting send SMS on smartfone
For a application i need to have access to check the total number of SMS send from the phone so that on next power on i Can check the SMS send and take start some application..

hello all, this is my first post on your forum, i'd like to ask if there's a way to prevent delivery reports to SMS's from being sent when i receive SMS's. I use Call SMS blocker but when i set it to block incoming SMS's the delivery report is sent, so the sender actually knows that his SMS reached its destination. I would really like to able to receive SMS's without sending delivery reports, but i don't know if it can be achieved. I have the v1640.
Delivery Reports like this are controlled and sent by your telecoms provider, not your device.
When you send an SMS, your device informs you that it has been sent to the network...if necessary, the SMS is transferred to the end users home network and when the SMS is sent from the network to the end users device a delivery report is then sent back to your device (if delivery report was requested in the SMS)
You cant stop it
yes i am already aware of that, but i was wandering if somehow i managed to intervene with the reception of SMS's and fool the network into believing that the SMS has not been delivered to me, like when the phone is off for example. There must be some kind of talking between the network and the phone regarding the reception of SMS's.
The network sends the delivery notification when it sends the SMS to your phone, and it send the SMS to your phone when your phone is visible.
The only way you can stop these notifications is to turn your phone off - you cant intervene with the network provider, they wont let you and yyou cant change the standards set for SMS
The other thing is, if you managed to somehow stop the network being told you had received the SMS, presumably, it would just keep trying to send it to you.
Ouch!
There is always a way
After receiving an SMS message, the recipient mobile phone will send back a message delivery report to the SMS center to inform whether there are any errors or failures (example causes: unsupported SMS message format, not enough storage space, etc). This process is transparent to the mobile user. If there is no error or failure, the recipient mobile phone sends back a positive delivery report to the SMS center. Otherwise it sends back a negative delivery report to the SMS center.
If the sender requested a status report earlier, the SMS center sends a status report to the sender when it receives the message delivery report from the recipient.
Once your phone receives the SMS, you can decide whether to block it. In case you wanna block it, the application has to simply send a Storage full / Message format not supported Error to the message station instead of normal status.
There's always a way guys

i tried googling.... but can't find such s/w... can u pls help me wid dat.....
Guys,
To the best of my knowledge you'd need to know the exact SMASI interface being used by the operator and then find a public API to be able to call it.
I've done it on a server level in Perl, but not on a device level.
Has there been any progress here?
Follow-up
Hello guys,
9yrs since the question first appeared. Has anyone had any success on this?
I have removed SMS app by rooting my android mobile. I tried to send SMS to that device and guess what? Of course, I did not received any SMS because I had removed SMS app completely by rooting but at the same time my second phone from which I had sent SMS received "delivered" report !!! How come?

Hi, i believe that the messages app isn't responsible for the delivery reports process. It is only responsible for showing the sms and sending. I have a messages service app in my phone so i think it is the one responsible for that, or there is another reason. For now I'm still searching and i will try some tinkering in my phone until i achieve a result and the I'll post it on XDA
Hi,
In some countries, if you send sms to landline phone via cellphone, you will receive delivery report!

So sending a failure delivery report to the SMS center will also send a failure delivery report to the recipient mobile phone? This would not be a complete solution to prevent delivery report but a way to prevent a successful delivery report. The sender could still track if the device is connected to the network.
If I remember correctly, I noticed that when some mobile network operators are overwhelmed with SMS, for example at the time of New Year's Eve in France, SMS can be received (sometimes delayed) but no delivery report is sent.
Also, if someone sends an SMS to a mobile phone that is powered off or in flight mode for several days, the SMS may never be delivered. I had this kind of issue with Lycamobile Germany and sometimes the SMS was delayed for several hours if the mobile phone was just powered off or in flight mode for a few minutes while the SMS was sent.
No there must be some way for real for example u can receive calls while it says your phone is shut down to the caller so if that can be done this can be also.
I am also looking for the same since long.....
Is there anyway to continue using the HTC Messaging interface & get a message notification "message sent" ? anyone knows how to get back the ability to get an indication that your message have been realy sent?
Any registery tweak to enable this ?
No one with a solution? no one needs the "message sent notification" ?
i remember that is an option in ur mobile... cant remember where but u can change the setting to have "message sent delivery"
What I've done is to install Advanced Config cab that I had on Touch HD and enable delivery notification in the messages settings. I've not sent an SMS since that but am assuming it should work.
No, so far this has not been acheived without disabling the sense SMS UI
I've been watching daily as I too want a sent notification!
Sorry - that's me told!!

Have you tried turning on Setting/Options/Request delivery report/ in All Messages?
Also, have you seen this from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638 (number 52):
"O2 sadly do not support sms delivery reports no matter even if you enable them in sms settings or the registry. An alternative way is to add *0# in the body of the message followed by a space and then begin your message. The recipient does not see the code but you will get a message back saying when it has been delivered."
This is working for me.

Fella read the thread title, sent notification not delivery report
I have put an annoying alert on for "message not sent" occasions. Atleast this way I know when its deciding not to send. As it did this morning. But oddly, only my girlfriends number. I could text anyone else, just not her.
I jiggled about a bit and it is sending her messages again.
Its the first instance of any such behaviour.
Has anybody got this working yet?
I disabled HTC messaging MAINLY so that I could get this functionality back!
I've been looking for this feature too but can't find any posts about the registry tweak to enable it. I've found the registry key that enables it on the HD but that doesn't work for the HD2 as the messaging system is HTC's and not Windows.
There has to be a way to enable this on the HD2.
O2 delivery report *0#
O2 apparently dont support sms delivery reports. I know that using the short code before the message sends a report back - Is there anyway to have this short code entered automatically before sending the message. It would be very handy as I generally forget until I've sent the message.
Delivery report and sent notification are two different things.... one confirms that the message was sent out and not sitting in your outbox. The other tells you if your recipient got the message (via an sms)....
There is NO way to have sent notification with the Sense UI (HTC messaging). It just a completely different app that bypasses the Windows one completely.... only way to get this functionality is to disable the HTC messaging app and revert back to Windows. I prefer this anyway... its faster and less buggy. My keyboards also play nicely with the WM sms app.
If you want to do this, just google it... you may also need to use Advanced Config 3.3 to enable sent notifications which is usually disabled by default...
Can some of you guys tell me the reg entry to disable HTCMessaging?
So, no solution yet on how to get a "message sent" notification ?
I tried looking all over in all related forums.
Tried looking at all the published tweaks
However, so far, i didnt found any solution that will help me get an indication that my message indeed was sent out.
No mate i've not found anything yet
Hello,
Still no solutions?
Geeeez.. Everyone needs the SMS notication badly & same goes for me,
wish someone can create a cab file that when SMS were sending out
a loader appears on the taskbar or just above the text counter "0/160"
& when loader fully loaded it meant SMS have been send out.
Hi All,
I wanted to enable sms delivery reports but couldn't find it under messages settings. I have tried multiple sms programs where I enable the feature, send an sms but no delivery report is ever received and the sms details is always showing Sent, not even delivered.
After lots of checking, I found out that for each individual contact, you can enable the delivery report. You need to compose sms, click on the menu button, click on sending settings and here you can select Request Delivery report.
The issue is that even this didn't work and it doesn't stay selected. Once you exit messages and get it again, it is on off.
I have checked the SMS centre number and it is correct, tried simply card on another mobile and delivery reports are received without any issues.
Anyone can advice of a solution to this?
Thank you in advance
