i'm a newbie at this so please excuse my extremely basic question.
how can i create a shortcut in the start menu for an application i manually installed on the sd card?
browse to where you installed the prog. press and hold on the main file, choose copy, go to windows/start menu press and hold, choose paste as shortcut.
The way I usually do it is to go in through any File Explorer such as the one that comes with the device, and go into the Windows Folder and find the program you want Copy it and then go to Windows/ Start Menu/ Programs and then Paste Shortcut.
thanks
was so easy and so not obvious

I've been playing around with different ROMs to see what I like the best, but when I install programs on the sd card and then switch roms, the program isn't listed in the programs menu anymore, but I can still run it from the card. Is there a way I can get the program to show again in the programs menu? I tried creating a shortcut to the program but I didn't know how.
Find the file in Explorer, tap and hold to bring up menu, select copy, then go to programs folder and tap and hold to bring up menu and select "paste shortcut".
I installed TomTom any want it to go into the GPS FOLDER, how the HELL do i get it there?!?!?!
Well I just use file explorer to move or make shortcuts, depending on what you want to do you either select the exe file in file explorer, then go edit copy. Go to the folder where you want the shortcut then go edit paste shortcut. If you want to move a shortcut you just cut it and paste it into the desired folder.
There also is a nice app called reSTART that you could use to move shortcuts.
Hello all, it may be a stupid question, I'm new to WinMo (moving from Symbian) but how I can create folders in Start Menu list (WM 6.5) and move installed applications to these folders ?

Hi Muntos!
The easiest way is to connect your device to the PC via activesync. Then click on "Explore" and copy your programmes and paste a shortcut in the windows/start menu folder. Don't put the actual programmes in the windows/start menu folder.
An alternative way would be to do it on your Diamond 2 using the file explorer. Use your stylus to press and hold the programme, then it comes up with a menu. Press "copy". Then using the file explorer, navigate to Windows/Start Menu folder and then press and hold the stylus in a blank part of the screen. Again, a pop-up menu will appear and you select "paste shortcut".
Total Commander PPC
Hi all
Total Commander for PPC is a very useful tool for this exercise. In particular it has a function to "Hide files in ROM". This allows the Windows folder to load in a fraction of the time but won't hide any of your start menu shortcuts.
You need to navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\XX where XX is the folder you want to edit/populate. If you want a folder to appear on the start menu itself, e.g. Games then create this directory:
\Windows\Start Menu\Games

I love this app and have intalled it onto my storage card in a folder where i keep all my .cab files, my only prblem is that i cant see it when i look for it in my programs, i,m wanting to put it as a quick link but cant? The only way i can run it is by going into file explorer and then storage card and then i the app folder i created and running it from there, where am i going wrong guys? help needed cheers
simple
go in file explorer to the file on sd card. tap and hold. click copy from the menu that appears.
open device\windows\start menu\programs and select there
(bottom screen) menu > edit > paste shortcut
rename the shortcut if you like
now you can select the file from start programs or assign it to a quick-link button.
BRILLIANT!!!
I've been searching,
