WM5/6/6.5 porting from blueangel to harrier - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

alright, i'm having some issues. I'm trying to port wm5 from the blueangel to the harrier.
i've exported the wm5 nbf into a blueangel kitchen, removed all ril files. didnt help with the NO GSM problem.
i started dinking around some more, i got a blueangel wm2003 flashed/booted onto the harrier and it got past the nogsm problem without caring. i really am unsure as to where to go from here, i need to find whats triggering that nogsm and cut it out but i can't find it in any individual file, just the nk.nba.
any thoughts?
also i cant view the harrier/blueangel wm2003 since they're encrypted. any thoughts on how i'd access them.

Oh boy, did you post in the wrong section. This section is for WM7 development (not even device specific).
BTW, I wish you luck on that one. No one has been able to port anything above 2003 on the Harrier.

whoops. SO CMON BOYS I NEED IDEAS=

AT& Wireless WM2003 Upgrade

Ok so bear with me here. I am very new to this stuff (1 week). I just bought a used Siemens SX56 for AT&T Wireless from a friend of mine. I inserted my SIM, Syncronized my Outlook and things are GREAT! I love this thing. But...I'm greedy. I want more. I want to upgrade to WM2003. Based on what I have read there are a few features that would make this baby even nicer. The problem is the following:
1) I don't know where to get the upgrade. Siemens no longer posts it on their Website and niether does AT&T. I have read some really advanced stuff on some of the other topic areas regarding loading the Rogers version but I'm not sure how to do this and I don't want to mess this thing up. Does anyone know where I can find the AT&T version of WM2003 for my Siemens?
2) Is it really worth the upgrade? I have seen some complaints from people saying that the wish they hadn't upgraded because it not a stable. Or that the installation went bad and messed up the ROM.
3) Is the Siemens/ATT version of the WM2003 actually the right way to go or is there a better version?
Sorry for the really dumb questions but like I said I'm a newbie.
Thanks,
J
Ok, I found it! this is the original Siemens/AT&T WM2003 upgrade. http://www.wireheadtechnologies.com/sx56/sx56_wm2003_update.exe
I ran this last night and it works like a charm. Be sure to have Activesync 3.7.1 and remove SD card. Took about 10 minutes.
good luck!
does your SD card erase after awhile
 I was looking for this upgrade for two days until I found this site. Thank you for not using the link straight from the Siemens website and thanks for the file.

I've been using WM2003 which I cooked in Lumpstefan's kitchen for about 3 weeks with NO problems. (A.30.09)
I also flashed the RSU with the newest AT&T RSU ROM Ver A.20.10 from
Yorch: www.yorch.net > upgrades.
The only thing I don't like is the RUU from Lumpistefans comes with an add-on program "Pocket NAV". It causes the operating system to freeze, requiring numerous reboots. I shut down Pocket NAV, and no more freezing.
Have fun,
Carey
Light at the end of tunnel?
Hello,
I am really frustrated, I would greatly appreciate any help-
I just finished reading Carey's post about the RSU upgrade to A20.10 from Yorch's website. I have a sx56 (USA-MN) and in areas of low signal, the signal is lost and the phone will not reaquire signal until a soft-reset. The phone has the following config:
Upgraded toWM2003
R33.02
A30.09
l'm not asking for a guarantee, but do you think that Yorch's RSU download (A20.10) might work for this phone. Yorchi's site mentions unzipping the files from A20.10 into the \windows folder then running the RSUpgrade.exe. Does this mean unzip the files to a desktop PC then copying them into the \windows directory on the sx56?
If i've got the method wrong, do you have a link that you can direct me to regarding the method of installation?
Thank you for any help!!
I am wondering about the same thing . MY sx56 drops signal all the time in my apt and I am hoping the new RSU will help the sx56 latch on and hold on to the signal better.. oh well.. if someone has tried it please share your experience...

Chico,
Justin is correct, the Wiza100 & Wiza200 are all the same with only minor cosmetic differences. I see that you are new here so I'm going to politely suggest that you spend some time reading the forums and searching for the information you seek.
I don't know what the layout of the secondary keys is on your Wiza100 but I have a Cingular 8125 branded Wiza100 and have found that all WWE Roms correctly map my secondary keys. If you search the forum, you will find how to change the mapping of those keys.
You will find that other members here are very willing to help you but their patience is limited by your willingness to read and search the forums before starting a new thread that:
Has a vague title, I would suggest changing the thread title to something more indicative of your issue.
Asks for information that is already covered several time in the forum.
Attacks or insults someone who has a greater knowledge of these devices than you.
Good Luck in your Search for "Symbol Secondary Key Remapping".
(If you didn't get the hint then please don't contact me for more).
BTW, this isn't texting or IMing so if you want to be taken seriously don't type like it is.

WM6>2003?

How to roll it back from from WM6 to 2003?When I'm trying to do this,it gives me Country ID Error.what's the problem?Thank you
hello again!
have u tried this again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1485240#post1485240 ???
are you using "MaUpgradeUt__NoId.exe" to flash?
there is a lot of information - what a surprise - in the good old wiki.... it's kinda confusing from time to time, but read thru it anyways, it does actually help!
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardDowngrade0
good luck,
krz
ps: why are you trying to downgrade anyway...?
Thank u for quick reply))I have some troubles with WiFi.Also I'm not sure that WM6 supports all programmes created for 2003&wm5.Maybe this is the main reason. Is it true by the way?Can I run stuff for WM5 on WM6?
some progs will work, some maybe wont... best way to find out is to try!
but i never had problems like that....
wifi is working for me as well...
krz
As the WM6 is only slightly tweaked version of WM5 there are almost no problems with apps running on newer system. You'll certainly find much more apps which do not run on older systems like WM5 or WM2003 than on WM6.

Upgrade from wm5 to wm6

hi, i have a tmobile artemis with wm5 on it, when i try downloading the upgrade file from the htc website.
when i put in my serial no it shows: Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device.
not sure if it's just my phone not bein able to handle the software or just the fact that i got it from tmobile, not htc.
would anyone be able to post a solution to this, or the actual upgrade file, if it's possible to get it to work?
many thanks.
Either go to T-Mobiles website and try to download a WM6 ROM from them. Or go to the wiki, read about USPL and then download and flash the HTC ROM from the links in there.
thanks for the reply, sorry im kinda new to this.
finally got it to work, tried a few times not sure if it's me takin out the sim card or just plain luck but its all workin now

Windows Mobile 6.5 for BA's little bro

I was wondering if it would be possible to take a BA Windows Mobile 6.5 rom and put it on to a Harrier/PPC-6600.
I'm sure this has been asked before, I just haven't found it.
I believe the only differences between the two devices are:
Harrier: BlueAngel:
64 MB ROM 96 MB ROM
No WiFi WiFi
CDMA GSM?
We could remove the WiFi module/software and then we wouldn't need the extra 32MB of ROM (hehe because I'm sure it would take 32MB ).
I have little programming experience (conversational in Flash, a few words in Python) but a fair knowledge of computers and I do have a Harrier so I could test it out(provided there's less than a 50% chance of bricking it) and help out to try to get it working if I had instructions.
Is this possible or should I just stick with WM 2003 SE?
If this question has been asked 3428930480328 times, then I apologize.
Thanks in advance .
It actually has been asked before
Next time you have questions, please post them in the Q&A section. Opening new threads is only for contributions to the forum (roms, kitchens, themes, etc).
To answer your question, no one has been able to port anything over 2003 to the Harrier. There are many major differences aside from the ones that you have already mentioned, which are substantial in the first place. Hope this answers your question.
It can be done you would just need to write a bootloader from scratch, one which can support wince 5.0.
What are the other major substantial differences?
A previous post from GnatGoSplat suggested that the following steps should make a GSM ROM work on a CDMA phone.
To make this work, you would have to:
1. Dump your WM5 ROM.
2. Separate dump into SYS and OEM packages.
3. Extract XIP.
4. Build new XIP with WM6.1 MSXIPKERNEL.
5. Build new IMGFS with new WM6.1 SYS folder.
6. G'Reloc the entire ROM.
7. BuildOS to create a dump.
8. Use Tadzio's tools to create a .bin, then to a .nb file.
9. Flash the .nb file.
This is sure to work, but isn't simple to do. If you're new to ROM cooking in general, you'll have a lot to learn before you can even attempt this. I've been cooking ROMs for 4-months and I still have a lot to learn.

I'd really like to get this to work. I have the time to donate and I'm a quick learner.
Are the steps shown above accurate in this context?

Here is the thing... WM5 was never ported to the Harrier, so going from WM2003, you need to do something far substantially different to what you described.
Again, it has not been done. I am not saying it is impossible, but no one has done it.
Update and some questions
After much research and screwing around lol, I attempted to extract a Harrier rom using xda3nbftool.exe . Unfortunately, using the password "0x20040521" gave me the "WARNING: this does not look like a nbf header, possible you provided the wrong password" error.
So, I compared it to a BlueAngel rom that WOULD extract using a hex editor to try and figure out what the difference was, and at the address 0x20040521 (I assumed that's what the "password" meant), there is no difference.
In fact, there are NO differences after 12MB in the file. That means AT LEAST 20MB of a Harrier ROM is IDENTICAL to that of a BlueAngel rom.
It's not like there's even 12 MB worth of differences - there's far less than that. I would guess around 5 or 6 worth. What I said was that 12MB into the file, there are none. In that 12MB, there are similarities still - I'm just too lazy atm to total it up
Anyway, that was just to prove how similar the Harrier is to the BlueAngel for some more support over here on the CDMA side of things (although that 20MB of similarity is probably just Windows Mobile 2003SE ).
My question is, why won't xda3nbftool.exe produce a usable result if the address it looks at is about 6.6 MB after the end of differences and start of 100% similarity?
Also, I have my own Harrier's rom dumped (using d2s, haven't done anything to it after that). How do I turn this into a nk.nbf file or split it into SYS and OEM? I've done much googling. The things I've tried so far have failed.

Since it seems that you are really inclined into making this work... I guess I can try to point you were you can get more info since I don't know much about porting stuff myself
Check in the Himalaya section. There is a porting guide (I believe by Ather90), which goes into a lot of the stuff that you are asking about. Unfortunately for us, cooking nbf files is a lost art and very few people in this forum will be able to help you (Da_G probably being one of them)

Lots of us waiting for such thing. Good luck!
Sorry to bump the thread, but now my real world things have came to an end with exams being over and such.
I sent a private message at the beginning of this month to Ather90 and Da_G but neither of them have replied. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please let me know.

Da_G has been somewhat absent lately and (my mistake) Ather90 is now Ather. Try to send him a message and see if he replies.
