Hi,
I recently purchased MN7 v7.3.10 from 1800pocketpc.com. It will not run in landscape mode. If I do the bsb tweak for screen rotation it will rotate the program but it cuts the bottom half of the screen off and leaves a big black area to the right of the program screen. Is there any way to fix this to run in landscape mode? A reg edit or change the ini file or something? I looked at the forums but didn't see the answer to my questions. I looked at the thread about the HD1 and navigon but didn't see a definative fix...... any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This is beyond frustrating me. I'm going on a long road trip over easter and would LOVE to have this fixed.
Thanks
bump for some help? I guess no one has this running in landscape on an HD2??
have you tried the HD fix?

Thats what I have in my file and it doesnt work. What I also did was to use B2B to add the start menu to rotated progs then make sure I was in landscape before starting Navigon, then it displays in landscape.
you need to be in landscape BEFORE you start Navigon!
I ran the latest PDA trial for a month and it was quite nice - as I did not want to enable manila rotation I set the win startmenu to rotate (bsb)
went to start -> rotaded to landscape -> started Navigon -> perfect (until someone calls)
start Navigon MN7 - just go to "options - settings - general" last page. turn screen left / right, portrait etc.

Yes, thats what I had in mind as well. And I used it this way with my "old" Samsung Omnia 2 (i8000) with MN7 v7.3.4 (not absolutely sure about the version). Unfortunately this option seems not to be there in my current version of MN7 (7.3.9) that came with my T-Mobile germany rom.
I guess thats either because Navigon removed that option in 7.3.9 (but why should they?) or because it is just not supported on the HD2 (like the navigating to adresses from the adress-book).

I've just upgraded TT to 06 and, suprisingly... the smily icon to rotate the TT screen from portrait to landscape has disappeared... have they hidden it in any other menu?
My car holder requires me to show landscape, but when I close my JasJar with the screen upwards it goes automatically to portrait and TT, without and indipendent command to rotate screen, goes to portrait as well... so I have to go out of TT, change screen setting... and go back in...
I am sure there is a better solution... thank you!!!

hi, i am having the same annoying problem. unfortunately tomtom has not included this option in the latest version. the only solution i have come across so far is getting yourself phoneAlarm 1.56.1 by pocketmax. this application have got a pawerful profile manager which allows you to rotate the screen and luanching tomtom at one go and much more. so basicly instead of tapping many times all you need to do is just change profile from home to car. and u are done. the one think i dont like about the application is the fact it is not only profil manager but "bigger" plug-in.
has anybady know a plug-in which is only profile manager which would let me do the same ?

hi, thanks for pointing this out "For that, I use PocketZenPhone..." it is really cool application and it is only a profile manager with loads of options. thanks again. now all my problems with tomtom and rotation every time i want to use it are solved. the application start tomtom, rotate the screen and turns on the bluetooth for me. have a look at how it looks on today screen

Isn't it possible to leave your jasjar in laptopmodus in your carholder?
That way you have landscape plus the advantage of using the keyboard for navigating through TT
You're welcome. Same use for me... You can also create a shortcut on today launcher like iLauncher or SPB PocketPlus refering to navigation profile you défined in PzP... That's what I do, no today plugin, only systray...
So is there a fix for the screen rotation problem on Tomtom 6?
What's wrong with a mort script or whatnot?
I've written VJUzumaki, which will fix this problem, but not available for release immediately...

I'd be very interested if you have a fix for this problem. Not being able to rotate the screen in tomtom 6 is a real pain.
Could you keep us posted on its development please?
Thanks
I've posted in a couple of places, unfortunately the code was written to order for someone else. They have to decide in what form to release it...
For now, I can say it can be fixed, on every slider based device, Uni, Wizard, XV6700, Hermes ... It's not a registry based solution tho, if it was I'd love to tell you guys about it.
V
If you have one available for the Hermes (same as SPV M3100 I think) please let me know.

What do you mean. problem? The rotation feature was removed by TomTom "based on end user requests". Like so many other things that were present in the older version. Anyone still remembers the permanent avoids of TTN2 and 3 ?
I have my uni in a car holder, but I can twist my holder (brodit)
so I have it in landscape for msn/email, and portrait when i need to navigate.
btw TT6 is much much slower then TT5 on my uni
in landscape it's unusable, in portrait it seems even slower then tt5
Hi there!
I have been searching for a solution to this problem for quite some time now but I haven't found a solution... Maybe someone here has an idea?
I want to lock my device in landscape mode! I don't want it to rotate to portrait mode in any circumstance! But I just seem to be unable to do so...
I'm running Duttys 2.6 and disabled flip-it, which got rid of any auto-rotation in manila and most other programs, but two problems remain:
1) Whenever I switch from a program back to TouchFlo (hitting the home-key for example), the display switches back to portrait instead of staying in landscape.
2) Opera always does what it wants and I haven't found any solution that would enable me to disable auto-rotation in Opera.
The second problem is not a biggie... I could live with Opera rotating. But the first one is driving me mad! I always have to rotate the screen again after everytime I visit TouchFlo!
So... Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this would work, but why not enable FlipIt and have everything set @ 270 degrees and untick 0 degrees
Other alternatives would be g-sen & gyrator and try and disable 0 degrees or portrait
Obviously certain apps won't work in landscape and aren't designed to so you will always have times when you need portrait
Let me know if this worked

Ok - I'm back with a new request...
I want to be able to rotate the device manually - right now, rotating it manually works flawlessly. I assigned one of the customizable gestures of WkTask to rotate.
But I still have the first problem I have described in my opening post: Whenever I switch back to TF3D or between running apps, my HD switches back to portrait!
Any ideas?
I have searched around the forum but I've only found threads discussing landscape mode with the old manila version - but I'm running Dutty's 3 XT with the new manila!
And ofcourse I would be very thankful for any advice on how to disable rotation in Opera - even though this is not that much of a problem...
maybe if you go into settings of flip-it and goto manila.exe and untick 0degrees and only 270degrees ticked, if you do this with all the apps in the list and put the exe files of other programs you use alot in it manually and also untick 0 and tick 270, then everything should stay in landscape and cant go to portrait. hope this works for you, test it and let us know

I have searched heaven and hell to find a way to get the D2 running in landscape view, that is for it to switch to landscape view when you rotate the screen. So far I have found apps that allows everything but manilla and its tabs (including home page) run in landscape.
Is there a way to do this?

You can make use of the Topaz drivers itself to do auto-rotation. You do not need to install additional application running in background.
There're some registry editings to be done. Nevertheless, you can use this application to help you enter those into the whitelist. You need to soft-reset after inputting all the applications you'd like to auto rotate.

Landscape manila for d2 is more annoying then useful, if you tilt the phone past the tilt point either way (portrait or landscape) it will rotate and take at least half a second to change screen, and it enerally takes more to come back to portrait. This makes it difficult to immediately read stuff or accept calls as the screens changing layout and the buttons end up in different places.
Landscape would only be useful on phones like the pro2 and it's previous variants when you need landscape while the keyboards out. Other than that just make your mail programs etc landscape capable.
There are other threads with reg keys and apps to use, just follow those and see if they give you success.
Cheers,
Scott
Graphics from the manila tabs aka TD2 homescreen are not designed for lanfscape view, therefor its like Scott (post #4) sayd, more annoying than usefull.
Thanks a lot guys. I think I see your point. Funny thing is that it was my recently installed S2U app that drove it home. It was annoying as hell when it kept switching to views.
Hey All,
I just got my phone this friday and installed tomtom 7on it.
It works nice & fast for those who want to know... But how can I get it into landscape?
I read on internet that you need to put your phone in landscape modus before starting up tomtom but that doesn't work (rotating doesn't help)
So what I also read is that you can assign a button to force rotation... But well I can't find the settings... Any help?

Use a 3th party gsensor app.
Add TomTom in it, and allow it to go landscape when putting the phone in landscape.
Hmm sorry for being noobish (this is my first windows mobile phone), but where can I find that specific G-Sensor app, I googled but all I can find are some silly G-Sensor games etc...

Does it work in the HD2, or do you have it running on a different model ?
I use Change Screen on my Diamond.
You can set TomTom to ONLY work in landscape mode, so when you start the app, it then rotates to landscape, and will not flip to portrait and back again when you go round a corner a bit fast.

Running on my new hd2 ofcourse
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347705
I used that and assigned it to the answer call button (did this by changing the button settings).
I just hold it down for a few secs and it rotates manually, hold down again and it goes back to normal! I prefer this than using the gsensor

Yup. If you're a memory freak like me and doesnt want to install unnecessary cabs running in the background when HTC already has a rotate function, i suggest using what's already there. Holding down for 2sec and voila! landscape. I find all the other rotate programs to be a huge pain (and sometimes dont work at all!) and take up to much RAM. Assigning the <rotate screen> to the call button was the best thing I've ever did.
Leo hardware button
Nice programme, simple, effective. But with al LEO it seems you can not assign hardware buttons to programmes. Or I am I doing something wrong here?
Same here... Found where I can assign the buttons, only no buttons appear so I can't select anything...
The strange thing is that autorotation of tomtom 7.916 worked on the HD out of the box which doesn't work on the HD2. Perhaps the API changed but i hope TomTom / HTC comes with an update to fix this.
Sorry wrong answer. Deleted.
Auto rotation working fine in my Brandnew HTC now.
Found the tips to get it working somewhere else.
Step 1:
Go to the following Registry key:
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\Gsensor\ModuleName
Add a new STRING Value:
Name: TomTom
Value: \Program Files\navigator\tomtomnavigator.exe (if you have a different language you may need to change Program Files to whatever you have)
Please note that in this case TomTom is installed on the Device, NOT the Storage Card.
Step 2:
Go to the following Registry key:
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\Gsensor\Whitelist
Add a new STRING Value:
Name: TomTom
Value: MunichWinClass
Now do a Soft Reset, and now when you start TomTom and put your HD2 in Landscape, TomTom will rotate automatically.
Maybe someone can make a cab for this ???
yep i've used that registry fix above and that does get tomtom to auto rotate, better than using a 3rd party app, although if you had bsbtweaks installed you might have been able to get it to auto rotate using that.
Personnaly, I use BsB Tweak to enable landscape on many programs, included TomTom
has anyone experienced this...?
autorotation works in some apps like: music and phototab, messaging, opera....
but like the start menu NOT! and also apps like Resco file explorer...
is this possible? to make rotation work in all apps???
Apps rotation
Good point
It should be.
There is a white list that lists which apps auto rotate.
Never used it, but I might need to for this one.

You might want to look at Gyrator.
You "just" have to add application entries in the registry. Their was a tool that do it for olders phones (Diamond2, etc.). G-Config was its name. The problem is the app using the "stylet entered" event.... That, obviously, cannot be used by our HD2... Maybe the author may change things to work with HD2
alright... i thought i have read it somewhere about the whitelist... but i just can't find it.
One of u knows the .exe for startmenu? to start with...
The sensor whitelist exists on registry keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList for Window classes or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName for program names.
For instance, sensor can be enabled in the Start Menu (default/honeycomb one) and S2U2 with the following:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
"Start"="MSSTARTMENU"
"S2U2"="S2U2"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
"S2U2"="\Program Files\S2U2\s2u2.exe"
Hopefully, Gyrator will work without stylus one day.

Gyrator works on HD2 as long as you know the Windows Class Names of apps. Some are given on the website of Gyrator.

He was referring to the fact that you used to be able to "teach" Gyrator a new class/window name by running the app in question and removing the stylus. This prompted Gyrator to get said info from the topmost application. Was a very nice feature. I don't know if there's any spy type applications for windows mobile, but you need one if you don't know this info.
Yes, that particular function was what I was referring to. As for finding out window class names, I'm using Dotfred's Task Manager, which has a tab showing window class names, although it involves looking in a long list instead of just pressing a button while in the window.
EDIT: Correcting my mistake quickly: Tap-holding a process name, tapping Details and choosing the Windows tab shows the windows opened by that particular process. Why I didn't find that out before is beyond me.
alright... tried a few things but no go
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
Name: Start
String: MSSTARTMENU (Didn't find MSSTARTMENU in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai either.....
and tried
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
Name: RescoExplorer
String: \Program Files\Resco Explorer\Explorer.exe
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
Name: RescoExplorer
String: RescoExplorer
But still no go!!
I don't know if this is me just being stupid or just the program.
I have the navipanel activated on my HD2 and can access copilot etc in landscape.
however when I select the dial feature the phone app comes up but it is still in portrait mode.
I installed Gyrator and the phone app does now rotate whenever I turn the phone to landscape or portrait.
But when I call the phone app up while the phone is in landscape it still opens it in portrait.
What I would like to know is is there any way of calling the phone app up and for it to immediately appear in landscape format?
Would using the rotatescreen.exe file be more useful for me?
I hope that makes sense and appreciate any advice you may have.
Paul.

this app is amazing, thanks for the tip!!!
only thing I'm still wondering is how to disable the auto-rotation for the WM6.5 lock screen. thanks a lot in advance!
I upgraded to the HD2 this week from a Tytn 2 and use my phone in my car usually for the sat nav and have the phone set sideways in the holder to give me widescreen.
However, whenever I needed to use the phone on the HD2 the dialer screen would always appear in portrait and so I have had to learn to dial with my head tilted to the side!!!
After posting about my problems with getting the phone app to rotate I did a bit of detective work and think I have fixedd it.
I added the following registry key to whitelist in the GSensor bit of the registry.
Name Data
Phone \Windows\cprog.exe
After a restart voila, the phone dialer will now open up in landscape.
I hope this is helpful to others who want to use the phone in landscape.

How well does zensor2 work here, and does it autostart with the phone? It is possible to set up exceptions in zensor2?

its working well on hd2 so i keep it.

I have done this, and it works great... except for when opening the phone app whilst in the Navi Panel.
When the Navi Panel is in Portrait, and you access the phone, it starts in Portrait, but allows you to rotate to landscape. However, when you use Navi Panel in landscape, and access the phone, the phone screen opens in Portrait and does not rotate! I'm sure there is a logical reason, but i'm afraid i'm not that clever...
