the strangest thing just happened - Hero CDMA General

I was browsing the threads, and suddenly, my browser closed out and the little thinking loop appeared, no "loading" or any sort of dialog box, just the spinning ring, and t
I waited, thinking something stupid like oh! Heeeeeeeeres 2.1 (dont laff, it was my first thought) and the loop disappeared, browser loaded again, but before the page refreshed, the same thing happened twice! Any ideas?
Im apart of damages wave and have flashed all the released betas, but have always flashed right back to V1 after bug reporting. V1 has always been stable, the only bug getting me being the trackball light and the occasional snap close of the broswer due to my aggressive memkiller.
Im freaked. Suggestions?
Edit;
How would I go about editing the memkiller to be less agressive?

Ghost is playing with you.
Don't watch back.

Haven't had that, but I've been on DC v1.0 for a while and I have noticed that each time I start up the Browser, it will open...then close. When I open it a second time, it stays open and I continue on my way. Not a huge deal, it's only about 3 extra seconds to opening the Browser.

As ive proven in that thread (hey where did that thing GO?!) i wont sit around feeding trolls or have pissing contests with other members. You will only be reported, and hopefully your answer deleted.
However, if you feel you can act as an adult and post a legitimate piece of advice, feel free to repost; until then, I ask that you simply leave this thread be.
Thanks in advance!

Is this thing broken?

Allright so my G1 has been acting up recently....a few months ago the top half of the touchscreen started to get all buggy....but that was just annoying
But recently the phone has been incredibly slow, Ive flashed multiple builds...tried different SD cards...nothing works....on top of the slowness whenever i type in messaging the cursor always leaves the box and i have to push it again....
But even stranger is today i went to the terminal app to try something and the whole screen started spamming [[C^...just over and over again...and when i close the keyboard it goes to spamming [[B^
Can anyone tell me what the hell is wrong with this thing
Edit: Ive had the thing since the launch if that helps any?

Yep..alot.... didn't help one bit...
Sounds like it got a little humidity in it.

CM6 and messaging apk

The messaging app in cm6 is extremely slow and laggy at times. Does that happen to you guys? and its also buggy when trying to open it, at times it will open something else when i press the message icon. Sometime i find myself hitting the back button a **** load of times to only sometimes get to the actual app. Alot of the time i have to actually go into my contacts and find someone that i know is in my inbox (my girlfriend most of the time) and then i can get back to the app. Its verrrrryyyyy annoying at times
I have the same issue as you when I try to open one person's text message, someone else's will open up, although I just go back and open again and it will open to correct message. Doesn't happen often though... maybe like once or twice a week.
I've been a faithful CM user for quite sometime. After switching to Chevy though, I can say CM seems kind of silly to me now. I ran CM6 final for about 4 days and felt like my phone was CONSTANTLY lagging.
I went back to Chevy 4.7 today(4.8 in two more days ) and It's running incredible. Like people say every phone is different but my phone doesn't like CM. It's always had a little lag to it regardless oh which kernel i run etc. My messaging lagged the worst.

[Q] Phone goes to sleep, doesn't wake up 50% of the time.

Hi all,
I'm running OzDROID 2.0 for my rom, 2.10.50.26 for my radio, and Hyperdroid1.6 for Android. Also TMOUS. I just recently updated my rom from an energy build to this one (wanted a lighter, faster loading WinMo). I've been having a nasty problem with the screen not coming back on when it goes to sleep. The buttons light up when i press them, but the screen stays black. Just today alone, i've had to pull the battery FOUR times. Some days it's ok, some days it's a nightmare. I checked the hyperdroid post for a radio recomendation but couldn't see any. I've tried using SetCPU to adjust clock speeds using profiles for sleeping, etc in hopes that some obscure thing will work. no good. I mean, what if i see bigfoot and want to snap a pic but the screen doesn't turn on?
My only ideas left include:
-Formatting my 16gb SD card. (would like to avoid, but will do if people think it would help. I hate setting stuff back up)
-Getting Hyperdroid1.7. (Havent yet cause 1.6 w/ Cyanogen is pretty F'n awesome, and minus this problem, i LOVE it)
-Updating my radio. (Going to do this anyways as i randomly get the "robot voice" problem. I plan on upgrading to 2.12.50.02_2 unless anyone has better suggestions)
I just wanted to check here to see if anyone has one of those "Ohh, enable <enableable option>, dumbass!" fixes. I'm not that experienced with this phone stuff. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Searching is your friend. App tray->Settings->Display->Auto-Rotate to OFF/Auto brightness to OFF. This has been covered bajillions of times, the HD2 builds of Android have problems with rotation and the light sensor causeing the kernel to wig out and BSOD.
Sorry for inconveniencing you. If you had any idea how much time i've spent on here trying to figure it out, you'd understand why I decided to just ask this myself. I've had this problem for a month and am finally just now posting. If I found that anywhere I would have gladly done it. The funny thing is - those two ARE disabled, and have been. I dont like auto-rotate and auto-adjust brightness has always been off.
I even took the time to read the "similar posts" that are recommended after typing in the subject.
Since those two are off and my problem persists, I suppose I should format my SD card and try other stuff. So while that problem may have been covered "a bajillion times" it appears your solution is not the miracle cure and is probably a good reason as to why it's been asked "a bajillion times."
Why is it then when I tell people to search, they instantly peg me as some jackass just trying to pawn them off. This issue, the "black screen of death" or, "my phone wont wake from sleep under android" HAS INDEED been covered many, many times. It's cause by either what I just told you, or the particular kernel that you are running is one that tends to get stuck in the sleep mode and won't let the screen come back on. Seriously 9 times out of 10 the problem is caused by auto rotate or auto brightness.
Ashasaur is right but also none of the android versions are very stable anyway and eventually you will face this problem on all of them some sooner than others but they will eventually crash in one way or another

I don't doubt that, but when you reply to someone asking for help with a tone as if they are retarded, don't expect them to buy you flowers. Sorry this has been asked so many times but I feel i put good time into researching this problem and didn't see a problem asking a Question on a QUESTION and answer forum. Like i said, sorry i inconvenienced you and I do appreciate your response, however you did come across as a jackass. I understand you probably deal with a lot of crap as a forum mod, but I didn't post this intending to ruin your day. You can see my post count and gather from it that I don't spend days posting pointless questions. If I came across a solution that worked, this post wouldn't exist.
Try a different radio(2.11.50.20) seems to be doing good for me, also try copying your files to a better SD card. And there is a tab under Setting>Home>>Items that says Home Timeout: 4 Hrs... try unchecking that box. I am new to the HD2 also and trying to tweak it just right so it stops turning off in the middle of the night and making me late for work cause no alarm lol

DK28, The Good And Bad

Even though its certain this isn't the official release, I thought we should condense the topics and just post the your thoughts about the good and bad features this update provides.
Ill start..dk28 isn't that awful for me like others. The only problems I've noted was samsung widgets disappearing sometimes, home screen rotation lag, and a few checkers showing up in the browser when zooming in and out.
However, on the bright side, flash is very smooth, and there are better icons

GPS fubared?
No notification when charging usb
Hey guys i recently started having a problem with the back button.it will pick up half the time and then its unresponsive the time any ideas on what i can do?
Probably just lag. Which way did you flash dk28?
Btw, I came up with some other things.
1. Notfications are delayed (ex. Handcents icons in the top bar are sometimes delayed)
2. Keyboard delayed (its actually a bit worse than before)
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
*Keyboard/touchscreen/captivate button lag/failure to register action/press
*Streaming music skips (last.fm) while doing anything else; like browsing the web.
*Slow orientation change
*No lineout on multimedia dock yet
*None of the unicorns and rainbows flying out of the screen that were promised by the legion of unrelenting froyo fanboys littering this forum for the past month.

Same here, I guess a few of us got lucky. Just very small things such as checker boarding. I don't have homescreen lagg though, or widgets that disappear.

GPS actually finally works for me with the update, I'm getting signal indoors in places I hadn't previously and it has yet to time out and require me to reflush the agps data or reboot the phone (used it all day today for work).

Not seeing this one either, lets me know right away though the notification bar as per usual.
However I am experiencing one very odd piece of behavior, If I open the phone to show the keyboard, turn off the screen and leave it sitting ... the keyboard LED blinks constantly. I'm not sure if it's an app of mine conflicting or froyo itself but it's fairly annoying.

I personally went back to 2.1, rock solid and stable.
On 2.2, Screen rotation is slow as molasses, GPS is stuck on my work location and would not work at all in updating. Browser was a bit slower compared to 2.1. Hated the scattered, non-alphabetical applications folder, wtf?!!
I enjoyed the 2.2 leak but the little niggles weren't enough to stay on it.
I did like the coloured menus, and the ability to turn off 3G when holding the power button for a few secs.
I keep getting errors when connecting to Wifi. I will look down at the phone and wifi will be off even though i never turned it off, and then the notification toggle wont do anything, and when I go into settings to enable it, it says "error" underneath the Wifi entry. Then it takes a few tries to get it connected again.
I do like where Froyo is headed, but this is absolutely no where near polished enough for final release.
Edit: Having a fully working GPS is awesome though. 2 meter accuracy = Awesome.
Does anyone else have lag when trying to adjust brightness on the notification bar?

If you press menu > edit > menu again, there's an option for A-Z order.
Guess it doesn't matter now since you downgraded, but just thought id let you know.

I've noticed since 2.2 that when a caller hangs up, I get a single beep in my bluetooth earpiece confirming that the call has ended, which I like...didn't have any sound before that.
Anyone else having trouble hanging up during a phone call? I hit the damn End button at least 3-4 times before it decides to hang up.
I must be one of the lucky few, everything works great, and not only that it fixed all the issues I had with the previous 2.1 build. I've tried out just about everything I can think of wifi, gps, 4g, pandora, etc.
edit: Should add, I did a factory reset after I installed it, wiped everything the only bit I loaded back in was contacts.

Give the phone a few secs after the screen comes back on then press it. Works fine; if you immediately press it.. it doesn't hangup. Seems intentional..
Umm.. aside from no GPS now which I plan to fix by reflashing di18 then 2.2... I don't find any major problems. The keyboard does have a bit of a registration flaw but not too major..
The leds do light up whenever the screen is off.
And I don't think the brightness sensor likes my room light because it enjoys changing itself a bit.

I'm always weary about doing wipes, so to test if this is true, mid anyone else testing out this also to see if he's right? =P

I have noticed the Sammy widget thing and the slow screen rotations but I was intrigued by your bug. So I tried it. Definitely happened. I wouldn't say 'blinks constantly' though. At least not in my case. It flashed on for about 2-3 seconds every 30 or so seconds. Maybe even as long as a minute. Caught me off guard. I watched it for a bit then went back to reading this thread only to have it happen out of the corner of my eye.

Woah, just tried it. I had similar results. However, I opened the keyboard, let the flash disappear, then 2-3 seconds later it came back. And stayed there too, for about a minute or so!
Not really a big deal in my opinion; I honestly don't use the keyboard often due to its laginess..

AOKP for ATT

I don't have enough posts to post in the thread... but I wanted to say its awesome, but the back light setting for the capacitive buttons is not working. Also camera still crashes if you refocus too quickly. Reboot is required to get it back.

And that's why you're not allowed to post yet. Both are known, it's being worked on (the camera is a CM9 issue, but Task may fix it first, and if you don't touch to focus while it's focusing, it won't freeze). The backlight problem has been reported so many times it's not funny, so before you get 10 posts I STRONGLY recommend you spend some time reading the forums, and learning how to search effectively (hint: use google search and use XDA as one of the search terms).
Then your first experience won't be the flame-tastic one it would be otherwise.
I'm in kinda the same boat as you although I've done quite a bit of snooping on the forums and in the thread and have not found any answers to my issues. Just to get the formalities out of the way, yes I did a full wipe, and I've wiped each time I've flashed an update to the ROM. These issues have been present on each iteration of the ROM thus far, and was not present on stock.
Issue #1 - Notification LED stops working correctly if device is sleeping, the color works fine and will blink on the correct times to start but after a few blinks it either will go solid or stop blinking period.
Issue #2 - While listening to Google Music or local music with the screen off notifications cause the volume of the music to drop but then not return to the level it was at previous to the notification until you hit the volume rocker.
I don't have time to read through the entire 150 pages of threads. I was aware that it had been a problem, but the latest build was just released right before I posted that. I did not see anyone discuss them since the new post. But thank you.
