hi,
pls. i have problem with charge battery with usb.
Sometimes it Works and sometimes it stops working, led blink orange, green, orange, green and battery status is still on the same level.
I have always allowed charge with usb – in menu is it checked.
Strange is, that it charge till now (and battery status is about 20% better – during this led was only orange), and in this time its blink again and doesnt charge (30 min. still the same level and led blink orange-green). Because it sometimes works i think the cable is OK or?
thx for help
Any suggestions?
I have the same problem
The charging is stop to 66% and i have use the battery Debug tool and also measure the same....
Strange thing
USB ports are rated sat 500mAh nominal and if you have a number in use then the available current can drop below the level needed to charge the phone and then the circuits can suck out the power from your battery draining it further.
Charge from wall socket and then from USB but don't do it at lower levels as you will continue to get the problem.
The knock on effect is that you may have damaged your battery by the charging process you have been subjecting it to.
Put it on charge and keep it on for as long as possible and then whenever you can to keep it at max capacity for when needed for longer periods.

I've noticed that when the phone is on and the GPRS connection enabled the device doesnt charge itself FULLY (upto 100%) during THE WHOLE NIGHT LONG charging in the cradle - only till 94%. I have to take it from the cradle, close GPRS and put it again into the cradle. Only after such dances the charging proccess goes on and it takes about 10-15 minutes to receive 100%.
Is it a bug or a feature?
GPRS attaching should not consume any power ... but GPRS transmission consumes considerable amount of power .. maybe that's why you can't reach full battery if you leave MSN on for example
But it is in the cradle THE WHOLE NIGHT LONG. It have to be charged FULLY not depending of working any apps at all.
if you look at the xda2 when it's charging then you'll see that it's by no means charging all the time
it's only charging when the led is orange
when it feel that it's full then it start to blink green and use it's batt
then when it's batt % get lower then some lavel it starts to charge the batt again
when it's in the cradle it dont get power from the cradle
the cradle just charge the batt
so it cant charge the batt 100% and then get it's gsm and standby power from the cradle it have to get it from the batt
In other words, you wonna say, that 94% is the cut-off level for the proccessor to begin real charging battery proccess when going from 100% down?. And I hit this moment every time when I waking up in the morning?
i dont know
neither do i
try turning flight mode on then charge the phone. I sometimes get a 100% charge reading because of this
yes, of course. i know that. the question was - why?
we cant know for sure but maybe it's something to do with the batt measure have issues making a good measure at the same time as the batt is being used
i also have this problem in charging my xdaII. when i'm charging via the supplied power supply/charger, i'd only get 94% or sometimes 97% charge (even if it was charged the whole night, with the pda off but phone on). however, if i put in on the cradle (with the cradle connected to the usb port of my pc, but no power supply connected to the cradle), i'd get 100% charge after 10-15 minutes, the xda having it's pda and phone on all the time. what gives?
the first battery charge on the HD is supposed to be a 8 or 10 or 12 hour charge? or on its not necesary
also the time used to charge it to the pc via usb cable is same as if ud plug it in the electric socket?
how long dose it take for u to charge ur phone.....
mine had 4 lines out of 10 and after 3 hours of it beeing conected to my pc and not in use its still got 4 lines....
opinions seem to vary on how long for 1st charge - personally I left mine on (mains) overnight, but that's just because I've had mobiles since year dot, and you used to have to!
But charging via PC doesn't seem to work as well as from the mains charger - depends a lot on the PC and how much juice it kicks out, some are a lot better than others.
Modern phones/batteries do not need "overnight" charging. My Touch HD even came with a little note saying you don't need to charge for 16hrs/overnight. Just charge until it's full...
Better to charge with wall socket because not all USB ports provide enough current. Some can't charge through the USB port while some can.
I can charge through my notebook but it takes a lot longer than the wall socket.
thanks bouth of u for the fast anwsers....
When I set WiFi settings to max performance, my HTC HD will not charge at all, actually it will loose charge during night, display is off, just WiFi, GSM and GPS is active, connected to provided wall charger. Back side of phone is really hot, I measured over 54°C
Problems charging.
guys(and lady's) Just got my HD. been running it for some time to drain the battery, while on my laptop the battery starts charging. I wanted to drain the battery to give it a good charge afterwords so I turnd off the option of charging while unit is active( in batt. menu) but When I got to 5% batt.cap. an tried to charge the unit (batt. option enabled again) it doesn't charge. now my batt. is empty and can't get in the phone. while on power my battery charging led gives a couple of seconds of charge indication then it turns off.
Any suggestions or is my battery dead. (charging unit is oke, and when on power the HD does give sufficient power to the battery (measured with mulitmeter) thx guys edit - Als when on power green and amber lights blink.
Could that be that your battery is too hot ? There is some safety protection that prevent the batyery to charge when it is over a temperature level.
battery not charging properly
My touch hd not charge the battery more then 50% i change the battery but same as before.
any suggestion

and try to use both sources wall socket and pc usb both are same.
if i charge the battery on usb cradle and put the phone it shoes 100% but after some use of the phone the charging start again and never show's full even left it over night.
Best regards
Not sure what's going on there, but try draining the battery to almost empty each time and then turn your phone off before charging it. Do this a few times and see if it helps. Mine took about a month beforeit came good.
Dear samlives
Thanks for helping
I will try it

HTC Touch Battery Charging Problem
I got a solution its not 100% but for time being its working for me.
Long press the power button and put the device in sleep mode.
All Done now charging 80 to 90% quite better then before.
Thanks a lot
When i plug my phone to either pc or ac the yellow light blinks and the battery reads 100%. Usually the yellow light is solid and the battery show as if its plugged in. Can someone please help?
Have you examined the contacts on the usb plug and where the battery snaps in?
That is usually the middle contact for the battery.
Pull the battery cover and battery out and inspect the battery connectors. My guess in the middle one is bent forward. Bend it back gently and be careful if you have to pull the battery.
The soft reset button is a better option if you just need to do a battery pull.
Are you using the standard HD2 battery that came with your phone? I bought a cheap $5 backup battery and I have this exact same issue when I try to charge it. The stock battery works perfectly though.
hot
I have the same problem, but only when I use internet on the phone for a period of time. When the antenna is used continuously it gets very warm, and I noticed that's the moment it quits loading and flashes the light. Maybe the battery gets too hot?
so what is the solution - will not charge from network charger nor from usb - when i pluged network charger for whole noght it was blinking green and orange and indicator wrote 100 percent of charge but when i looked into battery properties it showed me 9 percent and no charge - so by night it discharged fully and no answer on any doings
Some things that may indicate the flashing lights.
orange blinking is overheating.. but don't worry it does that and then it will pause charging for a bit and charge in waves rather then 1 cycle to let the phone cool down..it wont be a previous gen devices where it stops charging or gets extremely hot.

Flashing green light when there are new SMS, MMS or e-mail messages, missed calls, or reminders.
Solid green light when the device is connected to the power adaptor or a computer and the battery is fully charged.
Solid amber light when the battery is being charged.
Flashing amber light when the remaining battery level reaches below 10%

The only solution I heard of that works is to do a soft reset.
An alternative is to switch off the phone, then after 10 minutes or so plug it into the charger. This means that the charging circuitry is only supplying power to charge the battery and not power the phone as well.

on this phone, you can't use anything but the battery for the phone. Take out the battery and you can't use the phone.

I'm not asking you to remove the battery. Either try a soft reset or charge the phone with the phone switched off ten minutes prior to charging.
Hi guys,
Suddenly facing a strange problem since last night.
My x10i was running out of charge & i connected to the comp to charge while i was working. I noticed the charging speed was extremely low, so i restarted the phone to see if it would help. Did not.
Thought there is some problem with the cable, used a different cable as well, but no use.
The slow charging had stopped and eventually the phone died.
Tried connecting to the socket & charging, still no use.
The red led blinks when i connect the phone to a charger via the usb or the socket.
needless to say the phone does not even boot up now, obviously for no charge...
any ideas wat maybe wrong or wat i could do ?
please advice
Have you tried to let it charge for some time in off mode? As long as your battery is not dead, and the phone get the right voltage through the USB connector it should charge in an "emergency mode". This is a slow way of charging, but allows for charging without any electronic circuits to monitor it, it is not the same as the charging screen that usually displays when you connect the phone while it is powered off. Usually when a phone is completely discharged it needs to be connected at least 15 min, sometimes a lot longer, before the electronics kicks in, and starts the speedcharging.
My best advise would be to connect it to the mains charger, or a USB port you KNOW supplies power. Some laptops cut down on the powersupply to the USB ports when they run on battery. Let it be connected for a long time (several hours), and then try to power it on again.
If that does not help three things can be wrong
1. Somewhere the USB connection is broken, either in the cable or in the connector on your phone (or on the PC's connector, but that is less likely).
2. The battery is dead, modern batteries contain circuits that actually disables the battery when any given parameters gets outside the defined limits. This is to prevent the battery catching fire. On some batteries this renders the battery useless, and you need a new battery.
3.) The mainboard of your phone is dead, and hence nothing works, can be ruled out if you can borrow a battery from someone to test if your phone works then.
I hope a good and long charge can sort out your problem, that is the easiest fix, and it is free.
Hi O_K,
well, i have been charging (or trying to) the phone since it died last night.
i have used different chargers & different modes of charge (through the system & the wall socket) - no joy at all.
the LED blinks red a couple of times when connected.
Very occasionally, the SONY ERICSSON logo (startup) shows on the screen & it switches off again, back to the blinking.
So charging for a long time & through different chargers has not helped.
gonna try a different battery now to see if that can help.
Thanks for your response!
well, tried switching chargers & batteries.
The problem seems to be with the charging unit on the phone (USB)
with any charger or battery, wen connected the led blinks (like wen the phone is charging), but there is no charge happening.
eventually the phone dies, even if charging
any ideas?
There is a thread some where in this forum for fixing the same problem you have...I don't remember the exact name of the thread..if I find it I'll post the link here..Anyways what the guy did was
-Pull the battery out and connect the charger till the led turns green.
-put in the battery now and charge the phone...
and I think that was it.
Hope it helped..
EDIT: Found the link.

I was playing some games.. phone crashed. Now when i plug in the power the LED just flashes RED. Can't boot. I can still get into the bootloader but thats it.
I am rooted, unlocked, etc... am ****ting my pants right now. Any tips guys. Searched around the threads not sure what to do ? Maybe restore and RMA...:crying::crying:
actually now i cant even access fastboot... it shows for a split second and crashes out to blinking red LED
plug it in the wall, keep it ther for 10 minutes or so, then try to turn it on again.
This happens when your battery is literally out of charge.
Let it charge, the phone's entered the trickle charge mode because the battery is low. It may not recover and if it doesn't it means the battery is having an issue. From my reading of red light issues the solutions have been: let it charge because the battery is to low, it shorted so unplug and replug the battery, or to rma it cause the battery died.
Sorry guys skipped a boatload of details.... yeah the phone is charged...
I was playing games off the wall charger, believe me it has plenty of power. The light is blinking red can't do anything, no power up.
Either RMA or take the phone apart, disconnect the battery wires and reconnect them. There should be a guide somewhere, just look blinking red light of death.
Yup, blinking red led is a trickle charge mode.
Maybe the wall charger did not have enough power. Or the phone decided to discharge anyway.
What I am wondering about: if the phone gets back to life, is it empty or full (as in: switch it on without charging and see if it shuts off quickly).
Potential ways to handle this:
- wireless charger. The wireless charger does not pass through the 'red led' circuit but charges the battery directly.
- leave on trickle charge for a day. To trickle charge, that is supposed to be a slow process I think. Maybe someone can measure the current when it happens.
- unplug and replug the battery. This may reset the charge circuit or something.
- hold the power button down for 10 seconds. This will electronically disconnect the battery (but I do not know if it is a place that makes a difference).
