I have the nexus one with stock rom, and I have very important contacts and sms on it. I want to try the new Sense UI, but i dont know how to back up all this. And how do I reload contacts (i know...google sync ) and sms?? Any ideas?
I'm computer savvy, so I understand hacking and modding, but cuz of work load and importance of contacts/sms/email, i don't want to lose anything.
Thanks
If you are going to flash another rom, then want to revert. you can do a nandroid backup through the recovery. This will back up everything, it will basically take a snapshot of your phone at that moment, and restore it when you want. programs, contacts, messages. settings, everything will be as you left it. You should do a nandroid backup before you flash anything.
download this app. It's to protect your phone if stolen. you can track it, do backup , etc.
It's free unlimited subscription until 31st of march only! Afterwise 1 year license will cost $15

So fc's are either from your data or a bad flash. If you had any themed apps or themes they are not always compatible with a newest version rom. Also sometimes you can go to manage applications push the app that is fc and clear data and that might resolve your issue. Wiping data is absolutely a must. I usually don't restore data from cwm from old roms onto new roms. Ti backup I use to restore apps. I don't have any of the fc's that I've been seeing everyone have with flashing new roms. Please wipe your data so there is not extraneous posts about this in the rom threads.
this goes without saying.

I completely messed up my phone thanks to bouncy ball 2.5d for some reason. I tried to dirty flash a stock rom over my original stock rom and recover my phone but it wouldn't work. I did a TWRP backup and a factory reset.
I've drag and dropped my TWRP backup onto my windows machine

I can open them up using 7zip. My questions are:
1) Where would I find my original messages?
2) How should I push to them my new stock ROM?
3) Is there anything else I need to know?
Thanks xda community
If you have titanium backup, keep the backup on phone and use the extract from nandroid option. I believe it's the sms/mms storage that you want to restore.

Hi, so I was trying out a new ROM, but before that I had backed up my entire system (data included) through TWRP.
I tried the new ROM, didn't like it, so I booted into recovery and wiped system + factory reset.
I then flashed ROM + gapps, then restored data from my Nandroid.
After it booted up it's now like this:

Although all my data is in there, none of the apps are showing up in my launcher. Searching the apps and attempting to download them brings me to an error -24, which basically means I already have the app.
So now I can't do anything with my phone, since I can't reinstall to get the icon back and neither can I launch the app.. Help please?
those arent apps, they are the data for those apps. the apps are in /data/app/, not in your storage.
Oh well, just factory reseted my phone, back to a clean slate. Mods please close this thread, thanks
Hello everyone,
I dropped my phone and pretty much killed it yesterday, it won't power on or respond anymore.
I have a backup in Google Drive from yesterday and would like to retrieve it, is there any way I can access it / browse its content without having access to my phone ?
You can login into Google account in the new android phone during setup process and it will give an option to restore from backup.
SO NO WORRIES

But without phone it is nearly impossible to do so .. but your backup is safe.
Thank you for the answer !
You can also sign in to google in pc/laptop and access your derive data and contacts by clicking on the multiple small square on top right besides google search bar. But I think you know that already don't you?

I was getting ready to move from custom rom to OP beta because I wanted to get Android 10 when it will be available and I made sure to make backup on Google cloud backup and when I went through steps and flashed the OP rom and in restore from cloud option I could see my latest back up and I only had July 28th ones because it was ones before I moved to custom rom. But in my Google drive back up section it is showing up but latest one is written as OnePlus A6010 but other backups that was available to restore is OnePlus A6013. Is there any way I can do to get that information from that back up restored.
