PLEASE READ THE *FAQ* BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS OR LOOK AT *THIS* THREAD THANKS TO RZASHARP
ALSO DEFINITELY CHECK OUT THE COMPLETE VIDEO GUIDE TO EVERYTHING *HERE* THANKS TO [★]
This Guide is designed ONLY for HD2 with 512 Mbytes ROM. If you are unsure then goto Settings, System, Device Information, Hardware Information and look at the Flash Size.
If you have a LEO with 1024MB ROM then please use *THIS* guide.
Before starting, backup anything you might want to keep after the new Rom has been flashed as all contacts, emails, texts, notes, Internet BookMarks WILL be lost!!
PimBackup is good and free (copy any mms attachments to your storage card or computer seperately)
*ONCE YOU HAVE FLASHED A HARDSPL ITS PERMANENT. YOU DONT NEED TO DO IT AGAIN WHEN FLASHING NEW ROMS OR RADIOS*
*DO NOT start another process while the flashing process is taking place*
*DO NOT click off of the status bar... Let it stay in the foreground*
*DO NOT let the Screensaver (on your pc) activate*
Any of these can lead to a bad flash and possibly brick your phone
*FLASH HARDSPL BEFORE FLASHING ANY CUSTOM ROMS OR RADIOS*
1. YOUR DEVICE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY POWER FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING EACH STAGE
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
2. FLASH HARDSPL (REQUIRED!! DO THIS BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE)
The Original HardSPL Thread is *HERE*
NOTE: If you have Vista or Windows 7, update WMDC to v6.1 *HERE* first
NOTE: Turn OFF any AntiVirus Program first as it WILL interefere with the flash (there is NO harmful code in the program)
Installing HardSPL4 via ActiveSync with USB Lead (thanks to Bepe)
Note: HardSPL CANNOT be installed via microSD Card.
IMPORTANT: To install/uninstall this HSPL3 there must be any SPL version from this list on your device:
SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.0000, SPL 3.03.000
To Uninstall you can flash a Stock ROM via SD card or use HSPL3 application (You need select 2.08.0000 or 3.03.0000 in the choose screen)
1. Download HardSPL4 package from *HERE* and extract to an empty folder
2. Synch Phone with PC in Windows Mobile!!! It has to be connected to activesync or WMDC via USB cable
3. Run HSPL4.exe from your pc and read all the text carefully
4. When finished reading click next in the HardSPL program
5. The program will now check the usb connection and enter bootloader screen (tri colour)
*You can select between 2.08.HSPL 2.08.0000 HSPL3.03.0000 or 3.03.HSPL. This is to avoid people with 1024LEO's installing an incompatable version and bricking their device*
Android / WP7 / MAGLDR don't support HSPL3.03/OSPL3.03.
You need HSPL2.08 to run Android / WP7 / MAGLDR
6. Select 2.08.HSPL OR 3.03HSPL for HardSPL and click NEXT.
7. Your choice will be flashed to your phone.
8. When its finished the phone will reboot.
9. Click ok to terminate program.
10. Congrats, you just flashed HardSPL.
NOTE: You can also install HARDSPL by entering Bootloader mode manually, then running the HSPL4.exe program once you see 'USB' at the bottom of the tri-colour screen.
*Go into BootLoader Mode (turn off phone, then press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear). Verify the screen shows the SPL or HardSPL you installed*
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
To Remove HardSPL from your Device or Flash back a Stock Rom and Stock SPL for Warranty Purposes
You can remove the HSPL by flashing an original SPL from microSD card OR by running the HSPL4 application (You need select 2.08.0000 or 3.03.0000 in the choose screen).
* You can also use the microSD Card method to flash back your Stock Rom and Stock SPL that you originally had on your phone*
- Download a shipped Rom from *HERE*
- Rename the extension to .zip
- open it with winzip and extract the RUU_signed.nbh file to a folder
- Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of a microSD card thats been formatted to FAT32
- Insert your storage card into your phone
- Enter Bootloader and follow onscreen instructions to flash
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
3. DOWNLOAD AND FLASH YOUR PREFERED ROM
NOTE: Check the Roms Thread for any specific Flashing instructions. If there arent any then you can use the following guide.
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your computer
2. REMOVE SIM and microSD CARDS!! (this is a precautionary measure and is not compulsory)
3. Turn phone back on and wait until it syncs with your PC
4a. If your Rom is a .exe (customRUU.exe is already included in the Rom file) then run the file
4b. If your Rom is a .nbh file then run the CustomRUU.exe from the Roms Folder (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
5. Follow onscreen instructions to set up your New Rom
6. Once phone has gone through the customisation procedure then replace Sim and microSD Cards
7. Perform a Hard Reset to clear any leftover data from your previous Rom (see intructions at bottom).
8. Set up phone as required and job done.
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
NOTE (PLEASE READ): If you flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card then it will overwrite your HardSPL with a stock SPL included in the nbh file. This does not apply to custom roms as they do not include an SPL. BE CAREFUL!!
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the LEO Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
4. Copy the LEOIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Reset the device while pressing the volume down button to enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
4. FLASH PREFERED RADIO (OPTIONAL)
For more information about compatible Radios go *HERE*
Flashing Via ActiveSync
1. Download your required Radio and rename the extracted file to RUU_Signed.nbh
2. Sync your phone with the PC
3. Run CustomRUU.exe from the Radio's Folder and follow the instructions (if one isnt included then download it *HERE*)
Flashing via MicroSD Card
Use same method as Flashing a Rom via MicroSD Card
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
5. JOB DONE. Well Done YOU DID IT!!
Useful Information
How to get into your Bootloader
1. Turn your phone off
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear.
3. To exit Bootloader you need to remove your back cover and pull the battery out for a few seconds, then replace it and press the power button to reboot your phone.
How to perform a HardReset
Hard Resetting deletes ALL personal data and settings and restores your phone to factory default conditions as if you turned on the phone for the first time after purchasing.
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer defaults, or press other keys to cancel."
3. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
4. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Menu > All Settings.
2. On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
3. Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
Make sure you back up all your data such as Contacts, Appointments, messages etc or they will be gone forever.

FAQ FOR FLASHING HTC HD2 (LEO)
Q. I can't get it working I need help.
A. If you need help you do need to provide as much detailed information as possible or we cant do anything.
What process are you trying to do? Installing HardSPL? Flashing Radio? Flashing Rom?
List each step you completed and where you got the error with the exact error code you was given if you got one.
Also exactly what operating system do you have on your pc?
If you do not provide this and just leave a message saying "I cant get it working, what do I do?" then I will know you havent looked at the FAQ before posting and you will be referred here.
--------------------------
Q. What is a Radio?
A: The Radio is the Firmware that works between the Operating System and the Cellular Hardware. It handles the Sound, Camera, GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, Phone Calls, etc. The Radio must be compatable with the ROM's Operating System or you may experience problems with your sound and camera.
--------------------------
Q: What is the difference between SPL, SSPL and HardSPL?
A: SPL (secondary program loader) is part of the firmware that allows your phone to flash Roms, Radios, Splash Screens. Carrier locked so you can only use it to flash Roms from your own carrier.
SSPL (soft secondary program loader) is a temporary way to allow your phone to flash custom roms only (not radios). This doesnt give your phone the protection that HardSPL gives you.
HardSPL (as the name sugests) is installed permanently and allows you to flash anything to your phone. Its patched to protect you against bricking in the event of a bad flash and will let you get back into the bootloader to restore your system when a stock SPL wont. Always the best thing to have.
---------------------------
Q: What is the difference between ROM and RADIO?
A: The Rom is the operating system and included patches, tweaks and programs. The Radio is a seperate part of the firmware on the phone that handles all communation related matters such as signal, gps, bluetooth, camera, wifi and sound. Newer Radios to include improvements or fixes in older version, or even just to compliment an existing Rom or network so a newer Radio isnt neccessarily better. Radios also need to be matched to the correct Rom so you cant just put any Radio and Rom together.
---------------------------
Q: How do Stock ROMS differ from Cooked ROMS?
A: Stock Roms usually have extra 'bloatware' added which take up extra space on the phone. Custom Roms are stripped down to provide more space and most are tweaked to provide a faster more stable Operating System. Every chef is different so you have to look around the forums to see which Rom is best for your needs.
---------------------------
Q: What happens if I flash a Stock Rom via microSD Card?
A: Flashing a stock rom via microsd card will overwrite your rom, radio, splashscreen and SPL with the ones included on the stock rom. With previous devices I believe the HardSPL couldnt be overwritten this way but as bepe developed this version it must have been done differently. Stock Roms can safely be flashed via activesync and this method will flash the Rom, Radio and SPlashscreen but will not overwrite the HardSPL with a Stock SPL.
---------------------------
Q: Can I download official roms from the HTC Website?
A: Use the following serial number on the respective HTC site (thanks to mooooooa):
World Wide English (WWE) - Serial: HT9AZNW00968
South East Asia (Asian WWE) - Serial:HT01XNW03437
Denmark: (DAN) - Serial: HT9B6NW00167

Hi Guys. I posted the text below a few days ago in the general section/questions thread but it seams the thread is not so popular .
I just got my hands on the pre-production LEO device (demo device I guess) and I have a couple of questions (this is my first WiMo phone, I have experience with Android and Symbian devices).
Pre-production devices seem to be "unlocked". Besides being SIM unlocked it seems to be SuperCID-ed as well. The latter obviously allows me to flash stock ROMs regardless of the county signature, right?
Now how about cooked ROMs? I persume I would need HardSPL as any other production device? Or does SuperCID have anything to do with the HardSPL?
or
Having the SuperCID-ed device I don't need the GoldCard?
I have tried searching the forum but I believe that my lack of WiMo terminology is slowing me down.
Thanks for any input in advance.
Hi I was hoping you could answer a few of my queries on flashing ect
1. SSPL seems like a better path to go down as it stops any warranty voiding, which means I can still get my phone repaired in the future - good . However how come most people always wait for HSPL? Im guessing its because HSPL only has to be ran once or something, so everytime you want a new rom from then on, theres no need to flash so no risk of bricking? Whats the pro's and con's of using HSPL or SSPL ? ( I personally was more keen on SSPL as my warranty isnt affected )
2. How come some rom chefs say that their roms cant be used with SSPL and you have to wait for HSPL ???
3. What are the possible errors/outcomes when something goes wrong when flashing with SSPL? how does a phone become bricked and are there any ways to recover it?
4. Whats with goldcard? is that only when someone needs to flash official roms if there particular leo is branded to a particular GSM? Mine is an unbranded, unlocked model so will I never have to worry about goldcard?
5. If my device does become bricked and there are no ways to unbrick it, what can I do to get a repair ect? someone suggested bunging it in a microwave for 10 seconds and then sending it off under my warraty claiming that I turned the phone off one day, and the next it wouldnt turn on (seems quite a clever idea, but a little extreme)
6. Can someone explain to me all about the radio? it seems to be a key part in flashing. What is it exactly, Im guessing its more complex than the fm radio lol, but I dont understand what it does to the phone, and I see only certain radio versions and compatible with certain rom versions. Also I see that flashing wih SSPL means you can only change OS's and splash screens, so will that create certain problems if you want change the radio version?
7. Im planning on flashing to THIS rom, for speed and performance while keeping some eye candy (Also I want to try windows mobile 6.5.3) is this a good choice?
Thanks all my questions for now, I would be SO appreciative if you guys could help me out as flashing is quite a scary concept for a £500 device
I hope someone will help me

If your phone has been CID Unlocked (SuperCID) then you will be able to flash Stock Roms from other carriers but I think you will still need to use SSPL to flash Cooked Roms.
Hope that helps.

1. HardSPL is always the best way to go if available as once you have it on your phone theres minimal chance of bricking than flashing without it as you will always be able to get back into the bootloader to flash a stock rom if anything goes wrong. Even if you put HardSPL on your phone you can always flash back a stock SPL in the event you need to return it for warantee purposes.
2. I would guess that those Roms include maybe a Splash Screen or Radio which cant be flashed using SSPL.
3. Theres always a chance that something can go wrong in whatever you do. HardSPL gives you the ability to get back into the bootloader and flash a stock rom if you need to recover your device.
4. GoldCard is for flashing Stock Roms from other carriers. If your phone is unlocked then that means it is sim unlocked and not carrier unlocked (SuperCID) therefore you would still need to use goldcard if you wanted to flash a Rom that isnt directly from your carrier.
5. If your phone does become bricked and you dont have HardSPL to recover it then there are many ways you can try to get a new one under warantee. My favourite is pouring sulphuric acid over it and saying aliens broke into your house and tried mating with it but you can go with your own idea if you want to lol.
6. The Radio really isnt a radio haha. Its a seperate firmware that handles all the communication related parts of the phone. This includes the signal, bluetooth, wifi, sound, camera and gps. Until HardSPL is released the only way to change the Radio is to flash a stock rom which always includes a radio via goldcard method.
7. Thats the cooked Rom I flashed on my phone yesterday and its a very fast and stable Rom with no bugs that I can see. The download exe file includes the SSPL so unless you want to change the radio first its just a case of synching and flashing.
Hope these answers helped and good luck with your flash. The first one is always the hardest but do everything by the book and you shouldnt have any problems
Thanks for all the help, Im glad I didnt flash with SSPL just yet, I think I will wait for HSPL as it seems that I can still get my warranty back with it (but I just thought, what if you had to send it in for it not turning on or something, and they found a way to get it running, they would then see the spl was changed as I would not have had the chance to change it back)

that isnt directly from your carrier? what do you mean, mines totally unbranded and sim free ect, so It doesnt come from a carrier, meaning I dont need goldcard right?
(Heres another question while your around, I went to send a massive text to all my contacts, ( I changed it in the registry so I could have more than 10 recipetents so thats not the problem) wishing them a happy new year, and It appears that it is not working, even after applying the hotfix some messages are in the outbox and some in the sent items folder. Whats with that?
Thanks so much for answering, especially this early in the year/morning (haha) happy new year to you sir!

If it was sim free then you might be ok flashing any stock rom but I cant garentee it. It will soon tell you if you cant so give it a go.
Might just be overloaded as there are quite a few people texting at this time and I havent been able to send a text on my phone for the last hour lol. Thats why I always send mine out early to beat the queue

ok maybe thats it but whatever, I might try and apply some fixes for the sms ive seen around here. Hey when do you think the HSPL will be out, Im itching to flash my device
Official ROM upgrade - error 260
I have downloaded the official 1.48 upgrade exe from HTC. I have a choice of computers, win 7 64 bit or win xp 32 bit on which to do the update. I have tried both following the instructions within the package and both get to the verification stage and stop with error 260 - no connection. Can anyone tell me precisely what to do to get around this?
My HTC is a purchased unlocked device and I can explore the 16 GB card via Explorer on either PC

I would recommend using the windows xp system to flash as its more stable.
What method did you use to flash the Rom? You need to do it via GoldCard method described just follow the link in the first post and follow all the instructions to the letter.

I was following the instructions given in the ROM Upgrade software downloaded from the HTC site. It undertakes a verification of your phone software, but for some reason keeps saying it cannot connect with it. I had it connected via a USB cable. Maybe I need to speak with HTC on Monday.
I thought it might be Kaspersky stopping it, but switching that off didn't fix it. Perhaps I haven't got the computer sync'd correctly with the phone. Its not very obvious.

Even if you have an unlocked phone you may still have to use the goldcard method to flash a stock rom.
SOLVED
Simply needed to instal WMDC.

No set date you will just have to be patient like the rest of us
Folks,
HD2 from Telstra ( 2nd May ) running 1.66. Tried flashing it with 1.48 and 1.43 Rom's -- so I could then go to HSPL and a custom Rom, but no luck.
The Rom Update Utility starts and tells me I have image version 1.72.841.0, I click to update to 1.43.405.1 ( or 1.48 - have tried both ), then the 4 colour screen which notes 1.66. Then it goes to a HTC screen with a deployment bar, gets to only 1%.......then boom - error 294 invalid vendor id.......
What am I missing here ??
you need to flash thedowngrade from sd card, then you can hspl, and THEN flash from usb
At least your effort got that far.... i couldnt even see the zip open.
OS 5.2.21869
Manila 2.5.20121431.1
Rom 1.72.841.0
If someone can confirm what I need to do with what i'd REALLY appreciate it.
Have the backup rom just incase already.
you missed out all the important info.
what zip can't you open? what phone? what you trying to achieve?
assuming telstra like the op,
1 right click the telstra 1.4 rom .exe choose unzip here, or extract here
2 find ruu signed.nbh copy it to sd card rename it leoimg.nbh
3 phone off hold vol down, tap and release power, keep holding voldown till you see three coloured screen, should quickly change grey and start a card flash.
4 when complete and phone restarts hold vol down to re enter bootloader
5 run hspl as administrator using a usb port round the back of the pc,
6 when it completes, and phone reboots, enter bootloader yet again, and check that it says spl 1.42.hspl.
now, so long as you don't sd card flash hspl will stay and protect against bad flashes, flash what you like.

What 1.48 and 1.43 roms did you try? They need to be Telstra roms, as you can't just use any 1.48 or 1.43 rom and this is what is causing the invalid vendor id error. Once you are back to 1.42.0000 spl (after flashing a telstra rom) you can then run hspl and are then free to flash what ever your heart desires.
I have a Telstra HD2 as well (1.66)...got it recently and will flash it soon.
I don't understand the original poster's concern - why go through all that to flash HSPL, when apparently HSPL2 can be easily flashed over 1.66...which allows you to further flash any ROM ??? Is there a benefit of HSPL over HSPL2 that I am missing?
Thanks in advance
edit: my bad, just read in the HSPL thread that HSPL2 does not work with the telstra hd2.

keep reading, you still have lots to learn, hspl2 doesn't work on telstra.
Oh, my spl is 1.66.0000
I understand I must use HSPL (not HSPL2) on a Telstra ph. but can anyone recommend which rom to use? I've been reading for two days solid and can't decide!
I've copied all the guides etc so hopefully won't have a prob'... am just worried about warranty protection etc if it all goes pear shaped... i just want all this B.S. bloatware OFF MY phone!!!
Thanx in advance once again
I am in the same position, my Telstra ROM is 1.72 running SPL 1.66.0000.
HSPL utility tells me that "Model ID is invalid" or something like that.
okay, one more time.....
only the original hspl works on telstra,
hspl2 does not work. (bad model ID)
you need to downgrade to a 1.4 rom with spl 1.42.0000.
so, get the original telstra 1.49.8xx rom from HERE (registration required)
when its downloaded, move it to its own folder somewhere, then right click the .exe file and choose extract here. (if that option isnt available, install winrar)
when it has extracted, find teh file RUU_Signed.nbh, copy it to your sd card and rename it leoimg.nbh
restart your phone in bootloader mode, it should detect the leoimg.nbh and start to flash
this will reset your spl to 1.42.0000 and now you can use HSPL, and then flash any rom you like.
Thanks for the link to HTCpedia mate. I'd actually just found it myself by performing a thread search on the "Official HTC ROM's" thread. Downloading now.
Stupidly I've had problems after problems trying to get HSPL on my device. I actually started out on this ROM (1.49.x with SPL 1.42.0000). First I tried flashing from my Vista x64 machine, both HSPL2 and HSPL with errors, in my haste I thought I might need update to the latest Telstra ROM 1.72.x with SPL 1.66.0000 so I could use HSPL2 when in actual fact I just had the x64 USB driver problem, of course then the upgrade still didn't allow me to flash and made my situation harder as I had to find this original ROM again to downgrade.
Anyways I hope this works!
It works!
- flash rom back to 1.49.x with SPL 1.42.0000
- run HSPL with device connected via USB
- flash radio using CustomRUU
- flash ROM using CustomRUU
@rainey06au what Radio do you use with your Telstra HD2?
Got my Telstra HD2 running 1.49 last week and it's my first play with Windows Mobile .. couldn't wait to clear the Telstra image from the phone as my provider is Three.
Did plenty of reading and all the posts said to use the original HSPL first, this worked perfect first go.
Once done I tried the new Artemis_v110 rom, was very impressed except experienced 2 to 3 random reboots a day, even more while in YouTube player. Everything else woked well, reception, battery life, and clarity while on calls.
Decided yesterday to try another rom, first cleared all using Task29 format, then loaded HyperROM Ultimate v9.00 WM6.5.X but this didn't get through the first boot .. possibly due to radio required.
Now have flashed back to 1.48.4052 until I research some more.
Anyone recommend a rom and suitable radio for the Telstra HD2, anyone with Three?
Thankx
Thanks. Works a treat!
I knew I had to downgrade but couldn't find an old Telstra ROM.

you missed out all the important info.
what zip can't you open? what phone? what you trying to achieve?
assuming telstra like the op,
1 right click the telstra 1.4 rom .exe choose unzip here, or extract here
2 find ruu signed.nbh copy it to sd card rename it leoimg.nbh
3 phone off hold vol down, tap and release power, keep holding voldown till you see three coloured screen, should quickly change grey and start a card flash.
4 when complete and phone restarts hold vol down to re enter bootloader
5 run hspl as administrator using a usb port round the back of the pc,
6 when it completes, and phone reboots, enter bootloader yet again, and check that it says spl 1.42.hspl.
now, so long as you don't sd card flash hspl will stay and protect against bad flashes, flash what you like.

I am also using Telstra HD2 and recently flashed it with Miri Rom. I like Miri because it doesn't have any customization. It has many versions to choose from, with and without Sense UI. It also retain all the original WM icons and themes which I like.
But like all ROMs, I do experience reboot but only once so far with the new version of Miri v17. One thing to note is the Radio version for the ROM. Make sure you flash the exact correct radio version, down to the sub version, e.g. 2.07.50 is recommended for Miri and not 2.07.51 (which is the Telstra radio version).
Another advise is always flash from pc, not SD card as I have experienced bad flash using SD card.
Hope this helps. Miri is only available from the HTCPedia site.
Yep my radio version is also 2.07.50. I get good battery life out of it using CleanEX_UDT HyperROM Ultra v9.00 (6.5).
I use Lia Glass ROM and FallOut Theme.
Interestingly this ROM and radio has only unlocked 455.54MB RAM, not the full 576MB. There are threads about this and getting the right combo will unlock the remaining RAM and/or improve battery performance.
I am using Radio 2.08.50.05.
Anyone else have the same experience?

look in settings about phone hardware info ram size.
I bet it says 576
that's cos the hardware takes 128 for graphics.
look st a standard rom and hardware will show 448 whilst total available will show 336
Thanks samsamuel.
Hardware info does in fact say 576MB RAM
Thanks for the explanation - slowly but surely getting my head around the intricacies of the device
Since my HTC HD2 from Tmobile the SPL is 2.1
Is it possible to use a cooked rom without HSPL? Or is there another HSPL 2.1 hack.
Also, I searched the forum on downgrading it, which involves microsd. I'm not sure how to do it, anyone care to explain it to me? Thanks ^^
As long as you have one of these SPLs currently on the device - SPL 1.42.0000, SPL 1.62.0000, SPL 1.66.0000, SPL 2.07.0000, SPL 2.08.0000, SPL 2.10.000 you can flash HSPL3.
And you should always have hspl when flashing cooked ROMs
Dude I'm pretty sure there is no spl 2.1....
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
It's actually a 2.10.000
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
So I download HSPL3 and do it? Edit: For installing HSPL3, do I have to enter the tri color screen than do it or no? And also, is HSPL3 compatible with TMOBILE?
Also, how do I find out of it's a LEO512 or LEO1024? Like how does it know the HSPL is compatible with me HTC HD2 Tmoible? I know the SPL is 2.10.000
But I read that there is 3 different kind of Leo. So I dont know if it will be compatible
Edit: Let's say I bricked it, how would I enter boot loader?
Bump. need help ASAP ><
To confirm the instruction
1. Run HSPL3 (Do I have to be in the tri color screen in order to install it?)
2. Run the rom I want using CUSTOMRUU (It's a Miri HD2 WM6.5.X (23133) V18) (Do I have to be in the tri color screen? Or can I just plug in the phone and run the custom RUU?
3. After I flashed it, and I want to install Android on it, do I have to do anything about radio version or no? < I am asking this because on my current build, I hear robot voices... After I install the V18 everything should be fine and I don't have to worry about the radio right? Thanks again ^^
Bump! I really need help >< I really want Android on this phone and I keep hearing robot voice when calling..
I don't use the Miri ROM but I would search his thread for all instances of "Android" and see what other users are doing. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Dude... so there's a post in this section, actually one of the first ones in the area... stickyed close to the top (4th thread actually), that talks about EVERYTHING you just asked... and it's specificly for our 1024LEO (T-Mobile HD2)
give it a glance... it also provides the links to HSPL3 and instructions on how to install it.
I ran though this the 2nd day I had my T-Mobile HD2, first phone I've EVER customized, and it's all really straight forward & easy.... just be sure to RTFM
Also, as a bit of help....
when installing a ROM, the RUU will reboot the phone into the Tri-Color to perform the flash... however, if it's the first time the phone has been plugged into the computer while at the TRI-Color... the flash process will time out before the computer finishes installing the drivers required to see the device.... so I suggest going to the TRI-Color manually and pluging the phone into the computer... let the computer install the drivers (when finished, you will see the words change from SERIAL to USB in the white area of the Tri-Color screen) then run the ROM install. The RUU can be run both from the OS and from the Tri-Color
Oh, thanks!
Last question. Currently I have a official ROM from HTC, and when I boot up android, everything works fine except that when I make call I hear a robot voice.
Will flashing to custom rom fix this problem? Or do I have to update the radio? :|

Official T-Mobile ROM? it's possible... both my Fiancee and I have the HD2, I flashed to the Energy ROM, and she used a kitchen and made a custom version of the T-Mobile ROM... when running Android mine works fine on voice, she however gets the robot...
we both flashed to the radio to Leo_Radio_2.12.50.02_2
I recall seeing something about formatting the SD card and trying again to fix the robot voice issue... but I would suggest doing some searches in the HD2 Android Development section first (found in the "other" HD2 section )... I know a lot of people were reporting that issue, so I'm sure someone has "The Fix" for it.
last bit... remember to ALWAYS check if a ROM is TMOUS supported before you flash... getting a ROM from this section is a safe bet (and i think a lot of the custom ROM cooks are starting to cook the Android loader in... I know the Energy ROMs have it) but when you start going to ROMs in the Android Development section made specifically for running Android you need to make sure.

Firstly its "ROM" not "room".
What do you mean "with triangle" ??
Which HD2 do you have and which ROM did you try flashing?
Can you get into tri-color bootloader mode?
Sorry i post my thread quickly. Yes i tried to flash a ROM, i have HD2 512MB. I tried to flash a 3.14.405 rom. triangle - i can get in tri-color bootloader mode, but when i try also flash original rom there is no result, it crashes on 9 or 17%. Triangle is a sign when i switch on a device, i believe it means ther eis no windows/rom on device

your device is not bricked... get into bootloader and do a task 29 (LOOK IT UP)...
Then start from scratch... Magldr, then whatever ROM you want.

Possible fix stuck bricked hd2 radio no rsa information
Please read the whole post first sorry about the mess it is my first post thanks to everyone here on xda who came up with everything i used to do this There is guides for this xda has a lovely list of tmous roms if you are on t mobile in the us http://www.xdafil.es/index.php?path=HD2/TMOUS/
i would start with the RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip
extract the .exe file if it has one than extract the RUU_signed.nbh from the .exe file using win war or 7 zip than rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and place it on a newly formatted microsd not a microsdhc and i had problems with anything over class 4
place it in your phone and hold the volume down button and power button as loading comes up let off volume down power button will start the flash(i was only able to do complete flashes in the freezer if not it would hang or get radio errors)
i also had a tmous which did not want to flash the radio i would get an an error and rsa fail it sounds crazy but i wrapped it in plastic and stuck it in the freezer for a while before and during the flash this was the only way i could install the radio and actually see rgd information on boot screen after this first one you will have an old test rom with an old spl you cannot change to hspl from here i also was not able to go straight to 2.10, i had to step up from RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip, to RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip the same way i did the first one, hard resetting after each one and let it open windows completely to know it is working. than i believe there is an hspl3 file somewhere out there with all thanks to DarkForces Team HardSPL3 by bepe and Cotulla i will try to attach it that will work with spl 2.02 wich you should now be on now you can download your radio in the master radio thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
i also just renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and ran through sd i seem to have problems through usb and i was trying to be careful with the radio
once you got the radio you want you could flash the rom preferably running task 29 before or get yourself magldr to install through nand i also stuck my laptop an the freezer with the phone to get wp7 completely installed i did all this mess with a phone that had a broken screen i think there is like thermal compound over the processor to the case that is not on right and overheats when not in the operating system like a crappy old laptop with its fans full of stuff trying to install xp. and while a stock rom was being installed the usb was pulled during the radio installation i hope this helps i belive i saw one post to stick it in the freezer out of everything that i think helped the most.i also notice i have to put it in the freezer at boot too sometimes or i will get a fatal hit error i think its just over heating..... i also have an hd2 which has never been opened before that i have never had to stick in the freezer it gets flashed quite abit right now running gingerbread on normal hd2 and wp7 dual boot android 2.2 on the one i had to freeze i hope this helps i was here for weeks reading reading i was stumped cus my first hd2 and g1 were so eazy i will update this post once i stop being lazy and open the phone again to replace the goop to see if that is the problem
Thank you for reading my jumble and thanks again to all you phone heads here on xda which without you none of this would be possible and i would not have wp7 and gingerbread on my hd2 : D
I did a task29, flash a ROM succesfully, but now it' s stucked in HTC loading mode (Shows a HTC and nothing happens)

no luck at all I tried it once and have succesfull rom update, but it stucks when started with HTC logo, i tried second time and still no luck. Please help me.. all the time now also for original rom it says that this room is not for that device
original rom
you have to find the original rom shipped with your phone like here i am tmobile usa roms you have to find your carrier and country and start with one of the first ones i started with my second one RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip and i kept getting stuck screens when it was hot turn it off maby find some silica gel (lil rocks that come with everything to absorb water) wrap it in plastic and throw it in the freezer does the back of the phone get real hot during flash
i have shipped original rom, still no luck
not the newest one
you need one of the first test roms this was the only way i got mine to work i had to go from 2.02 to 2.03 to 2.05 hard resetting after each install making sure they completely went in what carrier are you and where are you
Still stuck?
Download HSPL 3.zip from page 1,
Run the program;
a) select 2.08.000 (not HSPL) and you can flash stock (HTC) ROM with no damage or aftermarket changes on your phone.
b) select 2.08.HSPL and you can flash whatever you want
Install MAGLDR 1.13
Flash ROM
Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY. You can find these all over XDA, look at all of my posts if you need to.

Hi, thanks a lot. Only, SPL for original rom was 1.42000 is it ok to flash with 2.08.000 ? And why i should install MAGLDR 1.3 ? Thanks in advance,
Ok, now i dont understand anything. My original SPL was 1.42, i did Hardspl 3, after that tried flash original rom, process stuck on 96%, after that i tried once again stuck on 9% and says rom not compatible with device. And its like a hidden circle, my phone is acting like that all the time. I tried task29, tried all HSPL, also 1.4200, 1.66 and so on. Can anybody help me? my skype nick is martins.prieditis , maybe someone can assist me?
Ok now its fixed. I did a HSPL4, due to which original rom freeze on 0%, but 3.14 didnt start up on loading OS (white screen with HTC logo))or freeze on 99%. Than went back to shipped 1.42, stock room succesfylly flashed and did a SSPL_RUU. Now the only problem is that my LEO restarts when it gets hot. Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks all for youre help (regarding my previous issue) !
Overheating??
As mrpoe stated in post 9, One of his phone had to be put in the freezer to be able to flash anything otherwise it will get hot and freeze.
Also the motherboard is most likely broken and you cannot get it to work without freezing or it will keep rebooting...
The best thing to do if you still have warranty is to Keep stock SPL and stock WM6.5 and return for warranty.
It will not function the same again.
Ok, first things first....
1) I don't know anything.
2) I've flashed my ELF (it's still working)
3) I have spent a week searching online for a remedy
4) I have spent all day looking through the Q&A, FAQs and previous posts before joining and posting (and failed to enjoy it)
The facts: I have a HTC Touch 'ELF' and here's what I've done to it so far:
1 Found the CID & Device ID
2 Unlocked it Sim ?
3 Backed up original rom
4 CID Hard unlock
5 Updated to Onyx 6
At this point all was well and the phone worked fine though did have memory issues - I then tried to connect to my Holox GPS - Here's the Problem - "YOUR DEVICE DID NOT CONNECT WITH BT-541 THE CONNECTION FAILED OR THE PASSCODE IS INCORRECT."
The passcode is correct, so it is just not connecting, I've found many threads on forums with similar problems, but no solutions.
Suspecting that Onyx 6 might be to blame I decided to install Onyx 4 instead (some programs I have won't run on Onyx 6 due to available memory).
Amazingly the phone is still working and Onyx 4 is properly installed.
However, the bluetooth issue is still the same.
I've followed several step by step guides and nothing I've tried has made any difference.
Could there be a conflict between the Onyx Bluetooth driver and the hardware ?
Should I install the original ROM and if so how ? I've been searching for hours and hours for basic info on flashing the OEM ROM - all the 'How To' guides assume that if you have successfully flashed the ROM you'll know how to go back - none of them actually say how to do it.
The Elf is running on Onyx 4 - any ideas how to get the Bluetooth working ?
Or try to put the OEM Rom back in ?
Should I try to add my backed up Rom to the forum or is it incredibly commonplace ?
TIA Everyone.....
Hey!
Which version of Radio and SPL do you have?
Recommended are HardSPL 3.10 and Radio 3.34.90.
Did you try a Hard Reset?
If you want to go back to your backup rom then
assuming that it is a correct *.nbh file, you just connect your phone to the pc and run the RomUpdateUtility or the CustomRUU in order to flash it over the rom you're running now.
If you want to flash an Official Shipped Rom which includes an original SPL then it is a bit more complicated because the HardSPL won't let you do that (overwrite protection).
In this case you either use the SoftSPL that came with the HardSPL or
you flash from your micro-SD card.
Regards!
Hi,
I'm pretty sure the hard SPL is 3.10.
My backup is one that I made following the instructions on this site.
The only RUU I have is "CustomRUU.exe" as shipped with Onyx 6 and Onyx 4 - can I use one of these with the original ROM ?
How do I tell what radio version it is ?
Is there anyway I can get the Bluetooth working or should I try to restore the original software ?

IPL : 1.16.0002
SPL : 3.10.cmonex (Hard SPL)

ExtROM Version : Cooked by dsixda
Operator Version: Onyx Ultimate 4.11
AKU Version : 1.6.10

RAM Size (MB) : 64
ROM Size (MB) : 128
Model No. : ELF0305
Part Number : 99HDM024-00
4- Please post the exact sequence of your attempted connection so we can see if you missed something
First I unlocked it so I could use a different sim - unfortunately that was a while ago and I can't remember exactly how...
The phone (& bluetooth) worked perfectly after that and I had no problems until I changed the OS.
I did exactly what was suggested in the thread (painfully slowly) and used guides for each step.
1) Find your device's CID and Device ID - did this
2) Make a backup of the stock ROM currently on your phone - did this
3) Install an IPL/USPL or HardSPL which removes the CID lock on your phone - I installed the HardSPL
4) Flash Onyx - I did this using the supplied tool

oops....
Ok, here goes.
1) Turn Bluetooth on in Comm Manager on phone. Click on settings>bluetooth.
Click on Add New Device.
2) Press and hold button on Holox until blue LED flashes quickly (bind mode).
- Phone finds 'BT-541'
Select BT-541 then 'Next' - enter passcode 0000 'next'
"Your Pocket PC has connected with BT-541"
Select Services 'Serial Port' "SAVE"
- AT this point the BT-541 (or anything else I try to connect with) WILL NOT connect = "Your device did not connect with BT-541. The connection failed or the passcode is incorrect" - I have deliberately tried this with an incorrect passcode and I don't get this far, so the phone is finding other BT devices and accepting the passcode & also knows the passcode is correct.
After getting this far I've tried allocating a comport:
Com Ports > New Outgoing Port > Select BT-541 > Select Com Port 6 or 7 & secure or unsecure (I've tried all combinations, it makes no difference)
The Elf won't connect with the GPS or two other phones - that's all the bluetooth devices I have.
Anything glaringly obvious ?
TIA...

Ok, installed the new radio.
The Radio Version was 02.95.90 and is now 03.34.90.
The problem is still there.
I guess it must be hardware ?
Ok, I have a 6.5 Rom but settings are probably the same
Go to Settings>>System, scroll to External GPS and enter
In Gps program port: Com0
Next tab (Hardware): Com6 or 7 (match to what you entered in BT settings)
Enter the correct Baud rate
Next tab (Access): keep the tick on.
It should work now
Also I read somewhere that Spl 3.10 is sometimes making problems on Elf.

No, it's exactly the same.
It's not a GPS problem it's a Bluetooth problem.
Thanks for trying though.
Sorry to hear, but one last idea: try to downgrade your hspl to 2.28 (and it's always good to match the ipl too) and reflash the rom as a last attempt before you drop the towel

Other than hspl, I'm not at all sure what the rest means or how to do it...
You can read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408637 and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445666

If you want to go back to your backup rom then assuming that it is a correct *.nbh file, you just connect your phone to the pc and run the RomUpdateUtility or the CustomRUU in order to flash it over the rom you're running now.

Can I use the CustomRuu I already have ?
If so, how do I select which rom it installs ??
TIA...
A few explanations:
1- You have H(ard)Spl (ver 3.10) which means you can't overwrite it directly either you want another version of Hspl or flash an original rom.
2- You need to use S(oft)Spl to overwrite it then flash the Hspl ver 2.28
3- You can flash any custom rom.
All you need is in the 1st post of my 2nd link, especially the "more detailed instructions".
As for the RUU, you can use the one provided there: ELF_IPL-USPL_2.26.0000.zip. You just delete the .nbh file and paste another .nbh.

I thought the point of the hard spl was that it couldn't be overwritten ?
Edit:
Reading up on it.
"new feature is overwrite protection. so devices won't get bricked if flashing a full shipped rom"
Why would using a full shipped rom cause that ?
You have not read enough
It's because a full shipped rom comes with it's own Spl (resulting in Cid locking again). Using an inappropriate rom might brick a device because you can't access the possibility to Cid unlock . Hspl cannot be overwritten thus prevents the flashing of a shipped rom. On the other side custom roms don't include a Spl so they can be safely flashed on a Hspl 'ed device.
Hi,
I think I should have found a step by step guide as it hasn't gone well.
In an attempt to get the bluetooth working again, I tried to put the original rom back in.
Now I can't sync the phone and it doesn't start up.
If I turn it on I get an Orange splash screen for 12 seconds then the screen goes black - I think it shuts down.
Is it 'bricked' ?
TIA...
I hope you didn't change your hspl before you did that...

I don't think so, but it's a steep learning curve and I'm struggling.
Can it be revived ?
If so, how ?
