I have a qtek 9000 and an xda exec. Both have the same rom updates (latest o2). The qtek works as it should, but the o2 does not. I have re-flashed the rom twice. No software is installed, nor is bluetooth running. The phone works and connects to 3g etc. If I close the clamshell, about 1 hour later the phone is asleep and will not wake up. A reset must be done in order to turn it on. I have hard reset many times and cannot fix this problem No calls or messages have been received by the phone. The green phone light remains flashing in its deep sleep mode, but it is not possible to call the phone. It does not ring or wake up. Has anyone had this problem? I have searched this forum and read many posts concerning sms causing sleep problems etc., but can find nothing relating specifically to my problem. Thanks for any help.
sounds like it could be faulty.
never woken it up via a phone call, so I don't know about that, as I don't use it as a phone yet, waiting until the contract for the W800i ends at the end of this month before I start informing people of my new number. But I wake mine up via the power button. If that fails for you, then I would suggest speaking to the company you got it from, as it would suggest a fault.

Kaze, this problem is usually caused by having anything running on the Today screen or resident in memory that is installed on the Today screen. For instance, a application loader on the today screen with links to programs on the SD card can cause this type of freeze, as it tries to get the icons from the SD card but cant - crashing(?) WM5. Just keep anything related to the today screen or bootup etc on the phone's memory itself and your crashes should go away.
dont think so

That other thread you are posting in is back from October/November last year. Just taking out the SD card wont help, you need to disable the programs trying to access the SD card. Although your problem might be different - maybe somethings faulty with your SIM card then? Try a different SIM card and see if it still happens.
As I said in my initial post, there was nothing installed on the unit. There was no sd card, and it was in total factory default condition. The unit was returned as it was faulty. The new unit works as it should, with the same sim card etc.

I've had a new Qtek 9000 for about 3 weeks and it has had exactly this problem from day 1.
Looking at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32688 I thought it might be a SIM problem but it isn't. Done a load of tests and the final one - hard reset - no SIM - no SD card and the problem still occurs. It's on it's way back for repair / replacement.
Same problem here? Does anyone have the solution yet?
I'm sorry no - mine had to be sent back for reapir.
It's fine now.
First one I got had this problem from day one fresh from the box with nothing installed. I simply took it back to the shop and had them replace it as faulty. Second one has never shown this behaviour.
Dodgy batch/ component.
My advice is don't wait for a fix, it's a hardware fault, return it under warranty.
I have a 8125 and It crashed on me. Now whenever I try to boot it up nothing happens, no power on at all. But if i take the sim card out it boots up just fine.
I took the sim card out of the 8125 and tested it in my RAZR and it worked.
Any Ideas?
Thanks a ton guys.

It might be that you still have an old %V SIM card? Not sure if that would effect the WIZ but some phones just don't work with 5V SIM cards - only with the newer 3Volt SIMs. You could ask Cingular for a replacement. I guess every store could help you with that!
Also: try (if possible) another SIM card from a friend or from where ever and see if it works.
How exactly did it "crash"? What did you do after the crash? Have you tried a hard reset? Are you running a custom ROM?
Well I bought the phone online and it worked GREAT for about 3 days, then I was at work and it kept turning off by itself. I would restart it and it would sometimes boot up fully (about 1 in 3 tries). I watched it and when it would shut off by itself the screen would fade to white then power off. I did a hard reset and that didnt do anything.
I also tried going into boot mode and installing the rom on the HTC website. That failed to help either.
I then tried to install the "Love" ROM i believe its called, but my phone crashes while trying to install that.
Any Ideas?
Thanks again for the quick replies!
Did the phone come with a carrier ROM, or did it come with a custom ROM? Do you have a warranty? Have you contacted the seller?
It may be easier to get a refund and/or new phone, since it may have been a bad unit from the get-go.
The phone came with the cingular ROM, Im not sure if its still under warranty since i bought it from a guy on the net. Im guessing its not. Any idea how much HTC will charge if I send it into their "Out of Warranty" repair shop?
thanks!
This is happening to me too. I have HTC wizard (cingular 8125) with the current rom from the HTC site. I was using the phone in landscape mode, then shut the screen, and the phone just turned off when it closed. Then I went to turn it back on and it just faded to white after the cingular screen. Last program i installed was either BTaudio, or GPRSStallWorkaround.cab (i know, should've just edited reg). Any thoughts?
PS haven't tried taking out sim yet... will try
edit: tried w/o sim, same thing no luck
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas what might be going on. I have an orange spv m700 unlocked, and re-radioed to make GPRS work on vodafone payg sim.
The phone works fine 90% of the time, but occasionally, I'll miss calls when I knew I was in an area with reception. I then get the message off vodafone call minder saying I missed a call, sometimes immediately. Sometimes I've even had people next to me ring, and not got through even though I had reception - though most of the time it works, so its hard to diagnose.
I was beginning to suspect that it might be something wrong with the sim, as it used to happen with my old phone (same sim), so I rang vodafone to get some help but they said they couldnt find my phone and so couldnt help me.
Has anyone any ideas? Do I need a sim update? How can I get one?
Thanks
(incidentally, I cant get mms working (using settings off this forum) but arent particularly bothered, I just thought it might be related)
Sorry, no SIM card issues. I can assure you that because mine has same issues, asked my phone provider for a duplicated SIM, and with the new one, had exactly the same bug.
Right now, my S300 is in Htc hands, being serviced, no clue if it's gonna be fix, replaced or worse, being sent right back to my hands as was sent to them, because that has happened once already to me. Bought this PDA on 3/17 and it has already been sent to Htc twice, I only had it like 2 days in my hands. First time they did notthing, hope it doesn't happen again, and I'll get it back to me fixed, or I'll throw the PDA down the window and never buy any Htc device again.
Good luck mate, and if someone have some useful info on this, please share,as I would like to know the fate of my S300.
Good I didn't SuperCID it out of the box, and waited to check everything was OK.
Hi all,
Just got home, looked at my mobile and it said there was no signal - so I turned it off and back on again, then it said there was no SIM inserted. Keep restarting the phone, keeps saying the same thing. Why?!
Am going to try it in my old SE K850i to see if it's the SIM card or the phone at fault.
In the mean time, does anyone else know of this fault and how to fix..?
I didn't the drop the phone or anything, it was just in my pocket, on it's own - like it always is!
Cheers
Tried it in my K850, works fine. Please someone help
yeah i usually dont put the sim card all the way in but slightly in and it works
I've re-opened this thread due to me misreading....DOH! Apologies (Mental note to one self.......follow own advice and read before posting).

you could try to clean the contacts on the sim card connector of the phone with a q-tip, and see if that solves the problem.
also check if any of those contacts appears to be bent or something, and so doesn't make a connection with the card.
Everytime I open the back up to remove the SD card, I get the SIM card missing bit even though I have not touched it! My HD is only 3 months old and it has done this from the start. I just have to remove it a bit - shove it back in and the phone accepts it is there. Annoying but not enough for me to send it back.
hmm, maybe try to make the sim a bit thicker so it doesnt move around (it shouldn't move by removing the back cover, but it seems to happen on your phone / sim combination.
try putting a thin piece of paper on top of the sim (not the contacts side, but the side facing to the battery cover)
maybe that prevents this problem?
Missing simcard
I have the same problem with my simcard. Though something strange happens when the phone is off for more then 10min, it works fine and notices there is a simcard for like 30 sec after which the error pops-up again. I have tried all of the above things, my simcard works fine in my other phone, adding some paper to thicken it doesn't work either
Anyone who could help me with this?
P.S. sorry for the bad english
As in post 7# written, put some papersheet in the simholder above your simcard to increase the contactpreasure. This surely helps.
Tis trick is also useful for all dualsim users who thik the dualsimadapter does not work in their device (but after using this trick get astonished!)
for Thysiey:
Try to switch to Gsm mode to test . Maybe you have bad umts signal? Happens at other places too, or only at one place?
Got the same issue here...
I cannot move the SIM because it is being hold in place by the battery. (to little room)
Adding a piece did not work either.
Anyone got another solution?
anyone? My mothers HD just got this problem now. She has a new phone and for the contract renewal she had to read the backside of the sim. The phone all of a sudden didn't recognizes the simcard anymore.. I tried a few other simcards but it won't read it anymore.
My plan was to sell the old phone but now it's almost worthless just a shame it is still a great phone to operate.. handy with the navigation and all
I was very happy yesterday when I picked up my brand new Desire HD. When I got home I immediately removed the plastic from the battery, inserted my sim card and plugged it in the charger while reading the manual.
After some tinkering around it suddenly rebooted. I thought it was just due to a setting I changed so didn't think much of it. However, it occurred another time later in the evening. This morning when I woke up, I didn't have any signal due to my DHD not recognizing my sim card any more. When I rebooted the phone, all was well. However when riding my train to work I felt the phone vibrate so I picked it up thinking I had a new text. Wrong: I was staring at the boot screen yet again.
When I got home this afternoon I did a factory reset using the phone's menu and hoped it would solve my problem. Unfortunately, when I opened the browser it rebooted again!
So, is my 2 day old DHD really dead-on-arrival or is there something else I could try? Unfortunately this was the last model left at the store where I got it from and they didn't know when another shipment would come in, so I might be stuck waiting for a while if I really do need to get it exchanged for a new one.
Mine is also doing this, also when I turned it off last night to charge it, it kept turning itself on. Any help much appreciated.

imo take it back if a laptop or anything else was doing this i would say there is a hardware fault bad chip sample or something its not normal you should have to live with it take it back asap
or wait if you want but personally you pay that much you want it to work just take it back
Maybe your SIM card is old and causing these reboots? DHD will automaticaly reboot when you unplug your SIM card without shutting it down first so maybe it's just loosing contact.
I've seen cases (various manufacturers) where SIM card would cause hangs, reboots and such. Replacement card from the operator in most cases fixed the issue.
My Nokia 6630 has that issue, it says the phone has to be reboot constantly due to a old scratched sim card, if i try with a new one it works perfectly :|

These reboot issues are a problem with the Desire, Nexus1, EVO4 and now it would appear the DesireHD. For the other phones the solution is to return to HTC for a mainboard replacement.
I really hope this isnt the case for the DesireHD.
As for it being my sim card: I doubt it as it works fine in my old phone (Nokia N900) and an old Motorola I still have. The sim card is barely 1 year old btw.

Yeah, I read about similar problems with the Desire and Nexus One but hoped the problems would have been solved in the DesireHD as I hadn't seen any messages of this problem occurring on the DHD before.
When I woke up about an hour ago, I again had to reboot my phone as it didn't see my sim card anymore. I'll go back to the store in about an hour to get a new one if they have it, and let you know when I get back...
This is just a wild guess, but may you should try to take out the sim card and place it back again. There could be a loose contact, dirt on the sim or some something else that might be causing a problem the phone does not see the sim correctly.

I thought of that last night so I took out the sim card as well as the battery and placed them back again. This morning, the DHD again failed to recognize my sim card so that problem wasn't solved.
The reboots seem to be rather random though, it's not just when I use my phone very heavily.
the issue with the sim card isnt the mainboatd issue, its can be sim or one of the back covers, wird.
Well, I went to the shop this morning to replace my DHD for a new one. The shop I got it from didn't have any in stock anymore, so I had the choice to wait until next week, or go to another shop and have it exchanged there. So I went there, and they replaced my (I think) faulty unit for a new one
So far, it's working like a dream What I noticed that with my previous DHD the charger would buzz very slightly when charging, this doesn't happen with my new unit and the same charger.
I'll keep you updated whether or not my new unit is indeed problem free.
I bought my Desire HD from the T-Mobile shop yesterday. Nice phone, but mine is rebooting every 5 minutes more or less. It seems to reboot soon after the 3g becomes active, but that may be just a coincidence. It also reboots immediatly upon plugging in the USB cable. Very annoying!. I thought I would try resetting to factory default, but that also did not help. I am going to swap it tomorrow, and hope I have better luck with that one.
Andrew
Same issue here, got mine from three UK yesterday.
Brand new SIM Card with the phone as well.
It was fine most of last night, rebooted once then after setup, like another post didnt think that much of it.
Then this morning it went in to a boot loop, rebooted about 5times in a row and the only thing to correct was a battery pull.
Lets hope its a software issue and not hardware related!
I haven't been able to test my new unit properly just yet. I ordered a new SIM card through T-MOBILE but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm now using my DHD without a SIM card and it has been working fine for the past 24 hours. So I think my SIM card is indeed the problem, as both units rebooted several times with the SIM card inserted but work fine without one.
When i picked up my sgs. It used to have same problem. Everytime i open a browser it reboots. But after i changed the rom it went perfect
Factory reset wont work. Try fresh install from the recovery menu. I think it will fix ur problem.
Most of the time this issue is software related.

Replaced my DHD at T-Mobile
Hi all,
So i was experiencing the reboot problem on my new phone. In fact mine was rebooting every 5 to 10 minutes since i took it out of the box. I phoned HTC to see if there was something I was doing wrong. They told me it's probably mainboard fault and I should return it.
Today I brought it back to the t-mobile shop and they exchanged it for a new one no questions asked. I demonstrated to the sales guy how it reboots for no reason, just to prove I wasn't crazy, but he didn't even ask for proof. The new one seems to be working flawlessly so far.
Here in Netherlands, you have 8 business days to return your device if something is wrong, and they will exchange it. If you wait too long, you would have to send it for repair under warranty. If you are having issues such as this, I would definitely swap it out a.s.a.p because when you buy an expensive phone like this, its meant to WORK!
I noticed something else perhaps worth mentioning. When the first phone package was opened, the plastic piece protecting the battery was not there, and the Micro SD was in the box, but not in the phone. The plastic cover was on the phone however, so I didn't think anything of these things because i don't know how the phones are packed. When I got the replacement phone, I tried to start it and it wouldnt start. Only then did I realize the replacement phone had a plastic protector around the battery which I first had to remove, and the micro sd was already in the phone. When i put my sim in the replacement phone, the fit was tighter as well. This all seems rather dubious to me. Perhaps someone had a play around with the first one before selling it? Maybe it was refurbished? In any case MAKE SURE you inspect the phone before leaving the shop, and make sure your phone hasn't been played with.
good luck everyone!
Andrew
Horrible reboot
Hi all,
I have been experiencing different reboots due to different reasons. Main reason is the fact of applying too much pressure on the back cover. That will always result in a reboot (I suspect it has to do with the two contacts under the cover).
Another reason for rebooting, as I have experiencing, is unplugging the charger while using the telephone.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are more reasons that cause the rebooting of the unit.
The worse part in my case is the fact that I lost the receipt, thus I believe I won't be able to take it back to have it fixed. Am I wrong?
I've been experiencing the same issues, but mine also turns itself on. I tried factory reset, didn't solve. So I am getting it exchanged as soon as its back in stock with Vodafone.

I am having exactly the same problem with my DHD. It's randomly rebooting 1 or 2 times a day. And when it's rebooted there is no signal and sometimes it doesn't even recognize my simcard at all. Manually rebooting the device then solves the problem for a while, untill it reboots automaticly again....
I have a dual simcard so today I will swap it, but I don't think that is going to work.
I don't have the DHD yet...
But i saw in a youtube movie that the batterycover had 2 contacts.
The guy in de video told that when you take the batterycover off when the phone is on it will shut down.
Maybe your battterycover is not set the good way.
