Setting schedule for POP3 Email Send/Receive - HD2 General

Hello All,
I have just purchased a HD2 and am very happy with the device. However I have a question which I can't seem to find an answer for anywhere!
I have a POP3 email account set up on the device which is set to send/receive every 5 minutes. It is set to sync using my WiFi connections both at home and at work and to use GPRS when I am not in range of one of my preferred networks. This works perfectly, however, I can not find any option to set a schedule for syncing like you can with Activesync, so I get woken up during the night if an email comes through.
Is there a hidden option somewhere to set on peak and off peak times for POP3 syncing like there is with Activesync?
Thanks

I figured out a workaround. I set up a gmail account and set it to automatically download the emails from my POP3 account. I then set up my HD2 to sync with Gmail via Activesync. All working perfectly now, except my replies come from my gmail account. Oh well.
Please reply if you have another solution!

Send/Receive Greyed OUT

For some strange reason, after resetting my Hermes 100 device for the 4th time in less than 6 months, I lost the capability of sending and receiving e-mail from within my outlook account by hitting the send/receive option after hitting menu. I check all my settings. When selecting Active Sync, everything works and the device connects to the server and performs the sync. But I use to have that functionality and I miss it a lot! My sync parameters are:
Sync Calender & E-mail only - same as before HR
E-mail Options 3 days 1Kb no attachments
Schedule is set to manually on both counts (Peak & Off Peak)
Send outgoing items immediately IS checked
Exchange Server 2003 is configured properly as ActiveSync works when hitting Sync
I am using a GPRS connection
Everything is just as it was before the Hard Reset. Why the hell can't I send/receive e-mail from within the outlook account. It works on the AOL account????
Replies welcome

Only want to download email messages at certain times

I have two email accounts set up on my phone. One with work emails and one with home/personal emails. I would like to have it set up so my home emails only download to my phone while I'm at work (say 8am-5pm) and my work emails only go to my phone during non-work times (say 5pm-7am).
Is there any way to make this possible? I hate sitting at work and having all the same emails filter onto my phone. Same with while I'm at home.
Thanks in advance.
You can set a sync schedule for Windows Live accounts for example.
You go to the Options of Windows Live and set it to sync as items arrive between XX:XX hour to XX:XX during the day.
I believe you can also set a sync schedule for your MS exchange server account. So those are 2 email accounts that I know you can define a sync schedule for.
So if you have one Windows Live and one POP3 email account, you could auto-forward the POP3 to your exchange, and set the exchange and Live accounts on different sync schedules.

Outlook sync times

Hi all,
I know that i can manage my sync times for hotmail by going
start>messaging>menu>options>hotmail>sync schedule
so i can basically only get my hotmail emails during the day, or when i want them, but there doesn't seem to be a similar option with outlooks direct push.
just wondering is it a possibility, or am i missing something simple?
many thanks
The reason why you can choose not to sync during the night with your hotmail is because you need to check periodically if there is new mail on hotmail, thus using the internet connection regularly.
Push mail works the other way around: whenever the server gets a message, it will contact your device and tell it that there's new mail.
I think that for stopping Pushmail from sending you mails at night you need to change a serverside setting, because it is the server that does the work.
thank you very much for your help mate
i'm with you now!
You can set the schedule of your Exchange email by going to Programs > ActiveSync> Menu > Schedule
In Schedule you can set how often to sync for peak and off-peak times, so what you would probably want to do is set your off-peak times to "Manually" or "Every 4 hours" etc.
At the bottom of the page there is a link that directs you to the page of adjusting the Peak Times.
Hope this helps you.
Cheers

Click to collapse
Sorry but that's wrong.
Hotmail is now pushed to WM6.1 phones when you use the Live Wizard to set it up. (Other webmail emails will need a 3rd party app).
If your Outlook is Exchange Push, then you should have the same settings for both.

new gmail push service...

Has anyone tried it yet?
http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=winmo
It supposed to bring the 'push gmail' feature.
Yes I'm using it since yesterday and it's working great.
ditto here, working quite nicely. Although is there a way to sync with two exchange servers at the same time? (that I don't have to pay for an extra service for). I would really like if I could connect with my works exchange server and my personal gmail one at the same time, but without having to go through the hassle of buying a service and paying monthly fees for the push service.
Any ideas?
works great just started to use it a bit of a pain to setup but didnt take too long.
yah...using it...quite good...
I'm having problems with this..
tried setting it up a few times but wouldnt sync. finally only sync'd when i connection to my wifi at home. As soon as i disconnect the wifi, the sync doesnt work anymore. wondering if its a t-mobile issue. cant seem to find any settings for activesync to use 3g instead of wifi. had it setup using imap with no problems what so ever. Anyone else have this issue?
Hi,
i am new about the push mail feature :
What i believed was(need to be confirmed or denied ;-):
With the gmail push, i wouldnt have anymore to
press a send/receive button in order to check my Gmail emails.
Each time i receive a mail on that account, i would be
informed nearly in realtime on my topaz, like with sms.
So i configured my gmail account like in:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
except i put [email protected] instead of @googlemail.com
(else wasnt working for me)
My topaz was connected via activsynch
so a kind of folder synchro occured
With a "Gmail" folder
and (translated from french) subfolders:
inbox/"sendbox"/drafts/"shifting"/sent/deleted/personal/professionnal/received
But then no mails appeared in them, so had to go to
parameters/"email configuration" to set again my gmail account
(strange to have to do it twice)
And so a "Gmail" subfolder(to Gmail folder) appeared
with new sub-subfolders :
drafts/bin/sent messages/spam/"followed"/"all messages"
and then my previous Gmail's emails appeared
Last i went to parameters/communication/Microsoft direct Push
to set it "on"
I tried for a test to sent a mail to my gmail account
but 45mn later still no notification of a new mail in my Gmail box
(ps: in the accounts settings, window where you have["sms/mms"; "email outlook";"Gmail"; "new account" with tabs "accounts"/message/adresse/storage]), my gmail account is set to 15mn in "send/receive planification")
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from 3g: no newmail
If i synchronize via programs/ activesync from usb connection my pc:
i got the new mail
The only interest in the push feature i saw was to save battery (topaz doesnt have to send/receive each 15mn automatically)
and be informed quickly when you have a new mail.
sorry for my ignorance, and thanks in advance for any help
regards
no replies still ?

No attachments
I've noticed that I can't receive any attachments with my mail. This is even after I have changed the email settings to receive all attachments in activesync and email account options.

Email Outlook account / Other accounts

Hi
I'm struggling to figure out the email set up on the HD2 and hope someone might be able to shed some light.
I have set up 2 email accounts "1 at mydomain dotcom"and "2 at mydomain dotcom" and they seem to be working fine. I used Start > Email > Setup E-mail and filled out all the boxes with the same settings as I use in Outlook on my PC (incoming / outgoing mail server etc)
When I send and receive mail it gets stored in a separate folder for each account.
But ...
There is also the "default" Outlook account which seems to be the one that syncs with outlook on my desktop. I cannot seem to set anything up in this account for sending and receiving email. It only seems to have two screens - one for sync options and one for Advanced E-mail Options. The latter has a box for "my email address" but no settings anywhere.
Am I missing the point somewhere ?
What I would like to do is set it up so that my PC and my HD2 are pretty much the same. I'd like to sync the two and have the HD2 able to send and receive mail from the either account and, store these in the Outlook folders
Any help or advice would be great
Stephen
You need to change it using Windows Mobile Device Center as it's set there to sync emails. I made the same mistake recently...
Wow - fast reply ! Thanks
OK so you're saying I can set up all my HD2 mail accounts within MDC ? I didn't notice that so will take a look
Thanks
Still struggling
OK, thanks, I found Mobile Device Settings in MDC
Change content sync settings
Sync wirelessly with Exchange Server
Manage a Partnership
Connection settings
Get device certificates
End a partnership
But none of these seem to lead me to a place where I can set up Outlook mail on the phone (othere than sync settings)
I don't have Exchange Server - just Outlook on my PC
I'm trying to set up my mail accounts in Outlook on the HD2 so that whether I send and receive mail from my phone or my PC both accounts are available inside the Outlook account rather than in separate accounts
Hope that makes sense ?
Thanks
Stephen
When I first setup my phone using WMDC it asked what I want to sync with my phone (contacts, notes, email, calendar, etc.). If you select emails it'll sync your Outlook emails to your phone but not the settings. If you want to get rid of the Outlook on your phone you have to change what you sync with it.
Just in case there is some confusion caused by wording of the question:
If you use WMDC, you can ONLY sync with the Outlook email on the PC BUT you can only update email when you connect to WMDC.
If you want to receive and send emails when mobile, you set up email accounts within the HD2 email programme. Hit the email tab, menu, add account.
Then set up like you would an account in outlook
Seems it may not do what I want
Thanks for your help guys - appreciated.
It sounds like this HD2 won't do what I need then.
Sync between my "local pc outlook" and the "phone outlook" is no good on its own.
If I have email accounts set up on the phone which are not part of the sync I won't have a record of my mails on my pc
I tried sending and receiving within "phone outlook account" and that only works when connected to the pc which does seem strange
If there's anything else I can try or if anyone has a workaround to handle all my mail from both accounts and sync them between the pc and phone I'd love to hear
Thanks
Stephen
