US$199.00 from the sandisk site
I purchased one a few days back, waiting for it to ship (of course stock was not up to demand).
so much money for whats basiclly a tiny bit of plastic..(yes i know theres more to it than that ). out of my price range im afraid but id love one......
I just can't keep seem to justify size over speed. A class 2 for 200 bucks is all I see.... and even with the 1ghz processor... music takes forever to load on a class 2 compared to a 6..
oh and transferring movies is a draaaggggg on those class 2's...

According to Kingston's sitehttp://www.kingston.com/flash/sdhc10.asp, There is a 32GB made by kingston. Still doesn't mean the Ebay item is NOT fake, or perhaps a cheaper, slower type of card???????

At the moment I'm using a Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC Class 4 and let me tell you; IT SUCKS.
The speed it horrible comparing to my Sandisk 2GB Class 2.
Therefore I would like to get a Sandisk instead. They are pretty cheap these days online. Amazon is selling a Sandisk 8GB class4 for only $16 + shipping. However I'm from Canada, shipping is a monster. On Ebay, most of them are fake and not even Class 4. So do you guys have any suggestion for me on where to buy a "Real" Sandisk 8GB class 4? (well, no need to be Real, as long as it's fast)
I'm not sure about the sandisk class 4 I would try perhaps Amazon.com on that. But as for Micro SDHC cards go this is by far the best card for the price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453 Just in case you are wondering it is a class 6 and I have this card personally and can verify that it operates at the class 6 specs.
Edit: Here is a link for sandisk 8gb cards http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_g...s&field-keywords=8gb+micro+sd+sandisk&x=0&y=0

Amazon.com and newegg.com doesn't ship microsd card to Canada.
As stupid as it sounds, newegg.ca doesn't have any 8GB microSD other than from A-Data... and I had really bad experience with that company.
That's strange that they won't ship them to Canada, but anyways I have used A-DATA for many years now and I have never had a bad experience possibly you just happend to get a bad product which unfortunately happens sometimes. I suggest A-DATA to lots of people and trust them myself so it might not hurt to try them again. Just my thoughts (man I feel like an A-DATA spokesperson LOL)
Edit: Just checked newegg.ca and found http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453 which is the exact card I recommended.

Have you ever use Transcend card?
it's the first time I heard of it... are they good?
Yes I as previously stated I have that exact card and have been very happy with it. I also have 4GB of their ram in the very computer I am typing this with. For more info on them check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transcend and make note of the quote "On September 2008, IDC India reported that Transcend ranked number 1 in sales of flash memory products, including USB flash drives and flash cards, in 2007, beating Kingston and SanDisk[2]."

Hey, if you have the same card, can you do me a favor and time how fast can a Class card transfer 1gb file?
This is insane... their shipping rate is $13 and Handling $3
I get about 6MBs write and between 9-10MBs read I just wrote a 1GB dummy file to it and about 3.5-4 mins. But that was with a card reader that support class 6 cards so results may vary on that expect them to be lower in the phone through usb. The test was performed with Roadkil.net Unstoppable Copier http://roadkil.net/program.php?ProgramID=29

My Kingston 8Gb Class 4 take about 4min to transfer 1GB as well. I find it slow. When I did a benchmark using PocketMechanics, the write speed is only 2MBs. That's why i'm returning it. Now that you're telling me it take you 3.5-4mins, I think my card is not that bad, then.
When you said 6MBs write, how did you test it?

Rank in sales means nothing if you're looking for quality. 90% or more of the time the top name in sales is NOT the best quality, just the best value. Sandisk is definitely better quality.
Need some feedback and advice.

Nevermind! I got trigger happy and bought the SanDisk.

@hidden most definitely, im planning on testing it to the extreme

I have one of the UltraMobile series cards, very nice! As hard as it is to explain, compared to other SDHC cards it just looks/feels like a better built item.
Anyways, IIRC SanDisk is the pioneer for most of the stuff too, and other brands are just copying their designs/technology.

Good choice BBP, I believe I would have done the same thing.
Who knows maybe its faster than the Transcend one people say they have.
Personally I think half the problems people face on the G1 threads are for using the 1 GB microSD that came with the phone. LOL.
Much respect for upgrading your external storage and realizing your phone is only as good as your microSD in regards to speed/stability/satisfaction.
I sure wish more people would do this more often.

I've read mixed reviews on the 32gb cards. I've heard people say that anything over 16gb isn't recognized by the hero. Don't quote me, just repeated what I heard and I don't remember if it was on XDA or someplace else where I read it, but I'd do a little research before buying one on whether or not it will work.
Having said that, the best microSD cards are probably Sandisk and Transcend. Your mileage may vary. I recommend NOT purchasing from overseas vendors...a lot of times you'll end up with a piece of junk. Amazon usually has pretty good deals, as does best buy, so I'd check there.

"Someone"? You'll be very lucky if it's really 32G, be sure to check it as soon as you get it.
sounds fake to me, also they can mess with the SD card so it shows as 32GB when you stick it in a comp but will fill up much faster, im not sure if there is a proper way to test that but see if you can actually stick 32GB worth of files on the card if you choose to buy it
Do NOT buy it! It is 100% fake. I don't even think sandisk makes 32G class 4.
http://www.sandisk.com/products/mobile-memory-products/sandisk-microsdhc
I bought a real 32G Class 2 card from a vendor listed by sandisk. It is fast enough for everything I do.
Gang I ran H2testw 1.4 and it is 30986MByte so yes it is real and not fake.
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...gkQrC0JVzQ1PXC3vA&sig2=BWuCUhNEDlR86_xYSyYy1w
I have a lot of experience with fakes cards so I had it tested before buying it.
Well I hope you are right. I would still try copying 30G worth of data to see if it works.
But there is absolutely no reason why a card that is better than anything around would be selling for a third of the regular price. And when something seems too good to be true it usually is.
By the way, I'm selling a bridge if anyone is interested.

doesn't guarantee its a class 4(it could easily be a class 2) and it sounds like a low quality chip considering its only 30.25GB but that's still an awesome deal

I think he does, if anyone in the US wants his phone number let me know.
IDK- the storage capacity in memory cards never matches what is says on the label and the bigger the memory card the bigger the gap is... Same with the Hard Drives.
Also my original SanDisk 16gb card that came with the MyTouch Fender edition only shows 14.8gb actual storage space instead the 16gb advertised.
This explains the gap between advertised storage capacity and actual storage capacity:

30.25GB is normal for an advertised 32G card. If I'm not mistaken it has to do with 1 GiB=2^30 bytes=1073741824 bytes while 1GB = 10^9 bytes = 1000000000. Manufacturers report on the one that will make it seem bigger (decimal) while the OS uses the other one (binary).

32 billion bytes is the size of the card. 1000 bytes, not 1024. Therefore the card is actually 29.8MB.
I'll still be very surprised if this Class 4 (since someone pointed out Sandisc does not make Class 4 32G cards yet!) is really 32G.

back in stock. pretty good deal
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&archetypeId=12214
I ordered the Samsung Focus with Amazon Wireless for one penny and a two year contract with AT&T! Couldn't be any happier with that.
Anyway, I ordered a case:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00495YF8A/ref=oss_product
And a screen protector (I know it's tough to scratch but eh, why not. Lol)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003F8C1GK/ref=oss_product
So I've been thinking about how much memory is on the phone. 8GB is nice but I will want to put a few of my 720P movies onto the Focus. I figured I could get 8B Micro SDHC (Class 10) and it would make it, 16GB. That's pretty decent, right? I think it will hold me over... Lol.
I did some research and I get the higher the class, the higher the write speeds. Right?
Well, what do ya'll think of this one?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220493
Thanks in advance everyone!!!
8gb is good enough for me....for now! Ill be buying a 16gb card soon enough tho because everytime you change the sd card you have to do a full reset on your phone, so id rather just do it now and get it all over with. So, what im trying to tell you is just get yourself a 16gb card if you going to be adding 720p movies...that way you wont really need to worry about changing the card later. As for the class...class 10 is unnecessary....class 2 has been proven to be VERY sufficient in the focus...even class 4. I had a class 6 and now I have a class 2 and there is NO difference in performance on my focus. Anyways, as for sd cards, be careful because some aren't working properly....I would say your safest bet is buying Sandisk...since thats what Samsung is using in the focus for memory right now.
Hope this helps!

Well, if I put a 720P movie on there, I'll just delete it once I'm finished watching it. Not going to have more than a few gigs of music too. So 8GB is good for me. Obviously once you put a movie on there you can delete it and get your memory back, correct? Sounds nooby but just double checkin... Lol. The higher the class the faster it gets on the card, right?

i got a sandisk 16g class 4 from radio shack cost about $34, had it in since two weeks before christmas.... loaded it almost full, empted most of it out loaded and unloaded stuff, havn't had any problems so far....... been running strong and just as fast as without the card...

Well, if I put a 720P movie on there, I'll just delete it once I'm finished watching it. Not going to have more than a few gigs of music too. So 8GB is good for me. correct...once you delete things you get your space back. I didn't notice much difference in transfer speed between my class 6 and class 2. So if you can, just save yourself the money and get class 4. There was an article I read somewhere that a higher class can actually make performance worse on the phone. Don't know how true it is, but class 2 has been perfect for me. No difference anywhere.
You need too spend some time reading this thread before buying a microsd card:

Determining whether an SD card is Windows Phone 7 compliant is not a simple matter of judging its speed class. Several other factors, such as the number of random read/write operations per second, play a role in determining how well an SD card performs with Windows Phone 7 devices.

A higher speed class can actually work against you because sometimes the maker sacrifices random operations for speed.
You can either wait for official "windows phone 7 certified" cards or take your chances. Read the first post carefully, especially the most recent posts. I personally have been using a 16gb Samsung card with no problems. Caveat emptor.
Sweet, thanks for the info.
This one looks promising...

If you read the feedback, nothing but positive reviews.
"Pros: Very good price to performance ratio. Works with the Samsung Focus. Good read write speeds.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: Not sure why some say negatives about the speed of the card. Maybe they got a bad one, but this tested out at just under 4.5gb write speeds. I had been using a Sandisk class 2 card with my Samsung Focus, but it would do some random rebooting and crashing. With this card it has been absoulutly perfect for over a week of use. I have 15gb of music and photos on the phone so I know that I am using the memory card along with the 8gb that is onboard with the phone."
Kinda sold on this... Should I do it?!?!?!?! Buy it right now?!?!! lol
This is pretty much what I was asking in another thread. I want to go with a 32GB card as I don't want to go through hard reset if I ever need more memory later on.
What is a good 32GB tmicroSD card hat works with Focus with no issues? I would like name of manufacturer, class and even the part# so I can source locally (go to store or order online).
Thanks.
No lie, you're going to spend a lot of $ and 32GB is overkill.

like I said before class 2 or 4 and Sandisk would be your safest bet.

LOL, 2 weeks, that's a lifetime. I am so going to laugh when it starts giving you troubles.
I see you have never read the whole thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834144&goto=newpost
In that thread you'll see that around 7 guys with that MicroSD had multiple problems with that card, including myself.
Good luck with that L!

After reading the large thread on compatible cards above, it seems the real test is if you've loaded over 8GB of data onto the SDHC card (or over 16GB total in your case) and don't experience any problems. If that's the case then that's awesome (and it also sadly verifies the fact that no one knows which brand of card really works than the Sandisk 8GB Class 2, which is mentioned in the official instruction manual).
To the OP, I've stuck with the 8GB Sandisk. I considered the OEM version for $12 USD available on Amazon but decided against it, and went with the retail packaged version, which I got at Radio Shack for $20 USD. 14 or so GB will be good enough until the official certified ones are announced.
well ill just refer to him as mr arse... but mr arse is partially correct.... mine was stable up to 15gb then after that it went downhill fast.... so give the dude a bit of a break....
Has anyone seen any OFFICIAL announcement that there will be APPROVED cards for WP7. I know that Sandisk tried to pull a fast one and say their's were approved but then pulled them. Is MS even allowing such a program?
