Is it me or it should be like that? When my phone is going to losj screen it just changes from WiFi to 3G connection and when i am unlocking it goes to WIFI
Its annoying, I get the exact same thing. If I leave it locked for a few minutes, it switches WIFI off, and restarts it.
Its automatically set that way. To leave it on: goto settings > wireless & network >wifi settings> press menu button then goto advance > set WIFI sleep policy to NEVER and you should be good.

If I have a Wi-Fi connection on, is it suppose to disconnect if my screen turns off by itself?
There is a setting for that... go to menu, settings, wireless, wifi setting... hit menu and go to advanced, tap wifi sleep policy and hit never

The topic says it all.
Is there a way to keep 3G & Wifi enabled at the same time ?
Or is it possible to control the stack routing table, to control when to change from Wifi to 3G(Signal Strength, battery level, ...).
My goal is to make a smooth transition from 3G to Wifi and Wifi to 3G, so they must be enabled together for a short period of time.
As tested in this thread : forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5974482
When Wifi is turned on, rmnet0 in the routing table table disappears, and reappears when disabling WIFI.
So as I can't retain rmnet0, I can't manage the routing table as I want.
If I'm missing something please let me know.
Thanks.
I keep both wifi and mobile enabled all the time on my phone.
Go to Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never.
Then make sure wifi and mobile are both enabled on your phone.
That setup gives you wifi hookup whenever wifi is available, and mobile connection when wifi isn't available. You're always connected to one or the other, even when you're on the move, and the switching is seamless and transparent.

Nice tip.
Thanks
Thanks, but isn't there a way to control and manage this.
For example, both are enabled with sleep policy and everything done like you just said.
So I am on 3G network, detect WIFI, but don't want to connect to it, due to certain parameters, like battery, signal strength, ...
Or can I just rely on the automatic switching when WIFI is detected nearby ?
Don't know if you guys know this or not. But having WiFi conected gives you the ability to be on the phone and web at the same time.
I am running 2.2.2 standard FroYo on my Atrix. When I turn my screen lock on (to put in pocket or whatever) the data turns off. Therefore I cannot receive anything other than phone calls until I unlock the screen and it re-connects. I have the network set to never go off, any ideas?
Try going into settings/battery manager/battery mode/ and set it to performance mode that should fix the problem
settings--> wireless networks--> menu, advance and ---> wifi policy-->NEVER.
also check, settings--> Battery & data manager--> Data delivery, background data is ticked and data enabled is ticked.
We just switched internet providers at the beginning of the month, Wifi was going in and out with our previous internet provider A LOT. Wifi and internet has been much better lately. But today I noticed Wifi went in and out when I go to unlock my screen it's off and once I unlock my screen it comes back on quickly. Is this because I have power saving mode on? I did a FDR a few days ago and it just started doing it tonight. It's only on my phone. Is there a setting I can find that will fix this?

Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > Advanced > "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" change that to Always
Power saving mode should not turn your Wi-Fi off but it can restrict apps from using it, If it does then maybe this setting would help.
If you want to customize how power saving mode works go to
Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > (Select a power saving mode mid/max > Customise.
You will see an option "background network usage - Allow apps that are running in the background to use Wi-Fi and mobile networks"
Hope this helps :good:
As the title suggests, my phone will not connect to known WiFi networks if I do not wake the phone myself.
Image being away from home, having both mobile data and WiFi enabled. The screen is off throughout the whole time and when I reach home it is supposed to connect to my WiFi. Instead, it connects to my WiFi only if I wake the phone. If I leave the phone sleeping (standby) it will stay on mobile data, unless I wake the phone myself.
Is this regular behaviour?
PS. The phone has not problem retaining connection to WiFi networks when sleeping. It just won't make a new connection even to know networks.
There is a setting in wifi settings under advanced where you can change how and when the wifi must be on/off.

If you mean "Keep WiFi on during sleep", I have it enabled already!
Have you played around with power saving settings?
