I have just received an HD2. (I swapped my IPhone for it)
It is an unlocked T-Mobile device and I want to flash it so I can use the O2 data services.
I am going to install the HARDSPL but I am not sure how I find out which rom I have on the device? Where do I find this? I don't want to brick this thing.
From the homescreen (Sense) scroll along the right to 'Settings', scroll down to 'About phone', select 'Software information' - all necessary info is in there.
Follow the first post of the sticky HardSPL thread and you won't go wrong. The process is very easy and will take you perhaps 10 minutes max as it's your first time. From thereon in you can go about flashing whichever rom (HTC or cooked) you like.
For flashing the hardspl you need to know the spl version you have, not the rom version. Everything is described in the hardspl thread.
You don't need to flash for using o2 Data service. It should work out of the box. If not, try mossis connection wizard cab

The hardspl thread mentioned the Tmobile 1024 roms....what are these?
Nothing to worry about as you don't have one
But in a nutshell the US HD2s have more RAM

i received a T-Mobile US Branded HD2 for free at a training event in NYC Monday. i jacked the phone up immediately when i got home in a attempt to flash the hspl for custom rom flashing. of course the hspl flash failed because of the new spl version so i then attempted to downgrade it with a older shipped rom using bepe's SSPL following his instructions correctly. as soon as the status bar appears on my pc, my hd2 prompts me asking to allow the application to go into bootloader. after touching yes, the hd2 screen turns black and stays black with the sspl ruu displaying a connectivity error.
ahhhhhhhhh! somebody help.
im guessing my spl is too new to downgrade?
In a word, yes (I think, might be wrong)...
Have you not read of the people flashing to the T-Mobile 2.x ROMs who can't downgrade their SPL if not using HSPL?
Don't know whether MTTY with an SD card flash would work but I wouldn't risk it
as I understand the s pl 2 issue, it seems theres no way to down grade it currently. I believe you can flash cooked roms with sspl.
do you have spl 2? boot to boot loader and check, cos it might be 1.6 and you can fix that one by flashing a lower stock rom that matches the vendor.(or gold carding, but gold card won't work on 2)
oh, regarding the connectivity error, try flash from a usb port directly on the motherboard (round the back)I get connectivity errors with hspl using ports in the front of the pc case.

sspl should work.
connect the leo normally with active sync, ie a booted running rom.
out should change to the sspl tricolor screen.
leave it too time out. pull the usb cable.plug it back in again, without doing anything to the leo..
it should change to usb. rerun sspl.
I'd similar situation, you've to install official ROM with lower version of SPL like version 1.48 then you can apply Hard SPL and it'll work.
To do it i used GoldCard method (installation using the SD card method).
My configuration:
HD2, TMOUS 2.10
What's the version of your ROM and if it's possible to post a screen capture of the "Software Information" page?
Good Luck
DON'T USE SSPL and HSPL on new 576/1024 GB devices.
There are (in 1.42) no support for 1024 chips.
New SSPL and HSPL (based on 2.08) will work. In development.

i just jumped shiped from android to hd2 and my understanding so far is that there isnt a way to load custom roms on the US HD2? Is this correct?
Probably. But u can try Goldcard methon. Dont brick yours man.

Hi Vizag,
Since you had also a HD2, do you find the American HD2 (TMOU) faster than the 8585 model ?

I am so glad I came across this thread. Give me the exact answers I was looking for.
I love custom rom's so i cant wait to flash one to this thing. Btw I love the phone. Everything is awesome!

Hi guys,
As most of O2 UK customers, I got stuck on 1.43 and it seems it will take them some time to release 1.66 (but who knows that? it might be 1.45).
So, I decided to not wait and have a try to cooked rom.
- If u r with O2 UK could u help me to do it step by step please?
- which rom wld u recommend.
- I know I void warranty but before I send the phone to repair I can put back
there my 1.43 firmware and everything is ok, am I right? Cld u send me a link to O2 1.43 firmeware just in case.
- any advice and help is welcome.
Cheers
o2 stock rom is in "leo official roms " thread, first post - first link - 1.43 folder.
no one can tell you what is the best rom.just be happy that you don't have a tmous so you can flash any rom you want no danger.
try some, and stick to what works for you.
most of all, read.

Yes, as it's lablled o2...as with the VF one and T-Mobile UK ones
I wld still appreciate step by step info for newbie how to flash my HD2 with for example Artemis.
Is there any comparing of all cooked rom, which one is the fastest, the best for internet etc.
Thanks a lot

1 instal hspl2, choose any version , , 1.66.HSPL or 2.08.HSPL probably, doesnt really matter so long as you choose one with HSPL in the code.)
2 flash rom of choice
3 if required flash correct radio
How to flash - put rom or radio .nbh file in a folder along with customruu.exe, connect phone to usb (boot to bootloader first if your phone currently wont boot to a running system, like for after you flash the rom but before you flash the radio)
EDIT - If you want to flash back to stock, you can do it by running the .exe, no need to extract the .nbh or use customruu.

no, there isn't.
Here is a link for the default O2 ROM and Radio, it's self explanatory.
http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html
Go with WWE 1.66 add Bsb tweaks setup all your bit's and bob's to only manually update and trust me the battery will last 3 times longer than that shipped O2 rom
It generally lasts me about 3 days between charges now..quite brilliant !
I don't know exactly what they have done with the rom but it must be fully allowing power save options
One small point the rom is generic so You may need to setup service provider details, that should not be to hard for You
Ok, I'll go for original 1.66 first.
I ve got vista 64, is there anything I should know before I start?
lets sum up I need:
- 1.66.HSPL or 2.08.HSPL (cld u give me a link pls)
- Rom RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.66.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.0 7U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
is it the best one?
- I dont need a radio in this case, do I?
How long will it take approximately to make a phone working in order to call and receive calls 1h?

Could you give me a link to O2 UK settings please
Hi guys,
Need some step by step help.
I believe the HD2 is locked to the O2 in the UK and it is still have the very old 1.48 rom and I would like to upgrade to the latest 1.66 but when I try to download the rom from the HTC site it said the rom is not for my phone after I enter my Serial Number.
So, any one know which SN i need in order to download the 1.66 rom in English WWE? Also, what do I need to install the rom with my O2 locked HD2? I am sure even if I have the rom the upgrade won't let me because it is locked to O2 UK. Please help!
All I want is to make my HD2 better (than the stupid Iphone)

I've already tried and downloaded it using a different serial. The updater then prevents you from flashing as it checks the serial prior to flashing.
Your best bet is to flash using a ROM in the ROM forum section.
mh....changing rom isnt very difficult..
but: i would only do, if really needed.
i'm also using 1.48 and i don't wanna change since an official rom supports landscape manila.
but if you want, do this:
choose the right S/N here and download your ROM.
when you've got it, you need to install HSPL first.
all about HSPL is written in this thread.
after installing hspl successfully, you can run the RUU.exe, which you downloaded from htc.com .
but think about it carefully...it could void your warranty
but all about that in hspl thread.
good luck.
DN41
Instal HSPL2 from the HSPL/HSPL2 thread in rom development. (It is fully reversable, your warranty is only temporarily void)
Then go to the Leo Official Roms thread in rom development, first post, first link, brings up a list of folder
1.42
1.48
1.66
etc etc
Look in the 1.66 folder for one with 'HTC' and 'WWE' in the title (world wide english and HTC unbranded)
Download it, and with your phone connected to usb, run the exe you downloaded.
THis WILL of course reset your phone completely, so be sure and back up your data first.
guys I didn't need HSPL when I updated. I was using the stock ROM, then I downloaded the official 1.66 ROM from this forum (coz my serial gave an invalid error on HTC website). I just connected with USB and ran activesync/windows mobile device manager and ran the .exe file of the update.
so your leo wasn't "branded".
where did you buy it?
DN41
oh yer of course, how n00b of me to forget that. Yer mine was bought online from handtec (official reseller).
EDIT: Sry kingdanny, just ignore my post. You may get confused otherwise.
As stated in the title, I'm about to flash back to the old version because the new T9193 telstra doesn't want me to install the HSPL. Anyone who's got the official ROM with 1.42 SPL for me, that's appreciated.
The only ROM I can get from the HTC website is the ROM with 1.66 SPL.
I'm not certain, but I believe this one has spl 1.42.0000
RUU_Leo_Telstra_WWE*_1.49.841.1_Radio_Signed_15.28 .50.07U_2.05.51.11_Ship.exe
Worth a try I guess

If not then just go back to your current rom.
that is the right one, telstra 1.49 has spl 1.42
by flash your ROM in this case, is the unlock neccessary? If I understand right, is the unlocking means I can get rid of the CID check to install any wrong CID or unsigned ROM. But if I want to install a CID matched ROM on my device, I don't need to isntall HSPL.
correct, you don't require hspl, because it is a telstra rom on a telstra phone.
Thanks for that! I'm gonna give it a go tonight, and let you guys know how it goes tomorrow.
Successful!!!
I hope people who has Telstra HTC HD2 can find something useful for them.
Greatly thanks to ClydeB1 and samsamuel!!!
I flashed a cooked ROM in and it worked. I restarted as one the applications asked.
Then the device freezed at the start up screen with the green HTC logo.
I have to hard reset the device and re-flash it.
Do you know what's wrong with it?

usually means you didnt flash a matching radio. Read your cooked rom thread, see what radios it recommends and compare to what you have.

Depending on your spl version you need to load hspl1 and then flash the rom of your choice. This will work if the spl is 1.42.0000. If not you need to downgrade the rom to an earlier version of the Telsta rom 1.49.xx I think it is which has spl 1.42.0000. Do a little search as this has been explained hundreds of times already. Look at the last few pages in the HSPL thread and you'll get some guidance.
Can't help on the AT&T bit.
