Annoying Notification Icon - HD2 General

Hi guys, i'm a rookie to wm, and hd2 was my first phone with this os, so sorry if this thread is "stupid"
My problem :
I have a "1" notification icon on my top status bar, and i don't know what it is and how to remove it. Any help in this matter is much appreciated.
I've searched the forum for a similar problem, but no luck.
Best regards,
A fan of xda-developers

press the top bar on the icon. it will take you to either a missed call or message etc. it will then disappear when you have seen what it was that you missed.

Nope. It's a notification for Line 1.

Someone already asked this a month ago here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634723

I've searched n pages for that topic but haven't found it
So if it is network dependent, it can't be removed.
Thanks

as far as i know, in romania, vodafone has the posibility to own a SIM card with 2 numbers/lines on it... maybe that's why you have it... you could trey if you have this service active through a phone call to customer care

Silly O2 icon on task bar

OK I have spent a lonley evening searching the forum for the answer on this - if its here I am sorry i cant find it - on my (new today) xda IIi there is an o2 Icon on the task bar - it sits in the most troublesome of places and covers up parts of program headings - it must be simple enough but I canot work out how to get rid of it - I have searched for the icon file itself to get the name and search for a value in the reg but no avail - please help - someone - anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
o2 icon
hi,
browse to the windows startup menu and it should be under connections, delete that shortcut and voila.....................
thank you somuch -
that was doing my brain in - what possesed them eh? - tell me that!!!!!
once again - thnks- it was the only thing PISSING ME OFF SO FAR
o2 icon
no probs........here 2 help
You can actually just tap and hold for a second or so on the icon, and a menu appears with a slide bar...letting you move the icon wherever you want it, that's if you want to keep it anyway.
I just cancelled the install of that all that O2 Active rubbish.
As I've stated before in here, I quite like the version that's on the 2i as it allows you to have different themes without it looking crap. Some of the features on this version are quite useful as well.
I've always wanted a screen that makes use of all aspects of the screen as it would a normal Nokia mobile, for example with battery life up the side and signal strength up the other, with some space to actually show the picture you've chosen.
I don't suppose anyone's found anything like that recently have they? I gave up looking 6 months ago!
Cheers

Can I just bump this thread and also ask - how is it done? Driving me nuts, I've never had it on my 2i. :/

Sorry for reading down a few pages and bumping old threads (again!) but I noticed this thread with no answer that I may be able to shed some light on!
From personal experience, the O2 Active stuff that installs with the 2i installs it's own clock on the Today screen, and completely disables the clock on the top bar.
Having originally owned a 2020i and then getting an XDAIIi forced on me by my insurance company when I broke the 2020i, I hated not having the clock on the top (aswell as having the useless O2 logo get in the way!), and managed to forcibly uninstall the O2 stuff manually. After a soft reset, the clock reappeared on the top bar and all was well in the world again!
If you have still got the O2 stuff installed on your 2i, AFAIK, no amount of playing in the settings will get the clock back in the top bar without uninstalling O2's crap!
If this is the case, I would be happy to put the procedure for manually removing the O2 software down in black and white! I'm not sure if it is actually on this forum - I haven't found anything other than preventing it installing in the first place!
Indeed - I found that when I did a hard reset of my phone and didn't install the O2 Active software (the 0506 corp install method) the clock appears and stays there on the top bar.
I also posted in another post about the reghack that you can perform to bring the clock back, and did some experimentation with registry values to see what different combinations would elicit (showing clock as digital / analogue, showing the date, showing both, different alignment and formatting etc)... You can find the post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=188032#188032 (it's in the thread called "XDA IIi Missing clock at the top right" in the Alpine forum, if the link doesn't work).

Help with Vodafone v1605

Hi people
Fairly new to the smartphone market and was wondering how i would get my phone to have the look and functionality of this orange phone as seen on the link below, i ask because i cant see where in the options i can get it.
You can see that there is a vertical icon thing going on and from using my brothers, i can say that when you hover over the text icon for instance it says who the last unread text is from and the same for missed calls. etc.
I hope this makes sense.

Few Questions about my Touch Dual

I've got my first kind of PDA; the HTC Touch Dual..
I've found out the most functions of the Phone, but I still have a problem.
When I get a Text message, there is a small screen. The only Options I have then is to ignore the message or answer it.
I want to completely open the message and then I want to choose wether or not I want to answer it. Is there a option for..?
This is what i don't get about the phone, so I hope one of you guys can help me out.
BTW; I'm sorry if you can't understand my english. I'm from the Netherlands, So thats why.
welcome on board and good you chose a niki ;-)
please be reminded that all your questions are already answered ... use the search function and you will see .
i found areally excellent post of a extreme noob in the kasier thread . it is worth reading - give it a go
good luck to you and make search button your favorite ;-)
cheers
OK.. Ive tried that
I found an answer for my first two questions
But I still don't have an answer for my last 2.
I did found the tweaks, but i dont know how to ''insert'' them into my touch dual..
that's good ! ;-)
there are some reristry tweaks to get more battery life
you can not edit reg keys until you install a registry editor or explorer onto your niki .... i am using sktools ... but i know that there are various registry editors around here ( again serach ). if you are not sure how to edit keys or even how to use a reg editor google a bit about windows registry and and backup your old registry first bevor trying ! ;-)
as for the last question ... don't know what you exactly mean . do you want this message ? do you want to get rid of it ( edit values in start-settings-sounds and notifcations )
hope this helps
oke.. ill check that out..
But with that Text message stuff, I mean this;
With a normal phone, you get a warning that you have an SMS and then you can click on a button so it will open the text message.
I want this too on my HTC.
At the moment I only get a small notification screen with the text message written very small.
Then I only have the options to asnwer it or ignore it..
So I always have make several clicks to finally get to my sms..
alright .... i am led to believe that you have the option with the left softkey to read entire message and with the right softkey to ignore, mark read, reply, close etc - but i may be wrong.
workaround : request text with "the bottom line" only ;-)
... there maybe another xda dev who can help on last question.

SPB Mobile Shell - Add icon to title bar?

Is there a simple way to add a "wifi" icon to the middle of the title bar on the default Now screen? I want to try and get one that is greyed out when wifi is not on, and the normal black and white when it is on.
I use wifi a lot and try to keep it off on my tilt when not using it since its a HUGE battery drain.
I can create the icons and do the work, just need a little pointing in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
-----------------------------
Side bar: Yes, I searched, and I posted in the SPB thread, but it got overlooked and is pages old now. This could help several people that need a single icon added.. FWIW
any ideas?
not possible with mobile shell, and next time please use one of the thousand ms threads and read first thread please, because we loose overview if everone opens a thread with one question.

Apparently you didnt even read my whole thread.. You might read before you start lecturing oh "senior member"..
It is not possible to add one that shows status. However if you look at mtkates new mobile 7 theme or the HELU theme they offer an alternative and show how to do it in those threads.

THanks for the help.. Let this thread die.
i gave you the correct answer and explained you why not open such threads. so whats your problem ? this has nothing to do with senior or not, its a question of sense and overview.
