Since installing the latest O2 ROM upgrade I found two problems:
1. Alarms and timers (chronos, spb time) don't wake up the machine. I need this feature and this a major problem for me, surely must be also an issue for others.
2. I don't want the battery icon on the top bar, I want just the clock.
Does anyone knows a trick to change for the better any of those, please?
Thanks, Gonz
1) u can install 3rd party Alarm Softwares.
2) search the forum, there is a solution

Really?
Care to post a link? Everything I've read says there is no solution yet.
Look in your startup folder, there is a file that activates the battery icon (I can't rremember what it is called and I don't have it anymore, but I seem to remember it's obvious when you see it).
Delete it (or copy to another safe location) and your battery icon will no longer appear.
OK, it seems my problems are not so simple to solve, after all.
These are the files in my startup folder:
sddaemon, services, theme refresh and voice command.
Could you tell me which one to delete to get rid of the battery icon please?
Uhm…, and what about the problem of timers and alarms failing to wake up the device? Do we have to use the dull Microsoft application?
Thanks

hdubli,
I do have lots of third party software for this purpose and they all fail with the exec wm5, something that did not happen on my xda 2i with any of them.
If you please care to be more explicit with the solutions, I am sure several here would appreciate it.
Thanks, gonz

For your alarm problem, check out pTravelAlarm
http://www.burroak.on.ca/wm2005.html
You are looking for version 2.6.0, which is for WM5 - their site claims that it's a trial version, but I've found it to be faultless, even after applying latest O2 ROM.
It's not free and I can't promise it'll work for you, but it's worth a shot.
If I can't leave my Exec plugged into mains overnight, I disable the "Turn device off after..." in Power Settings and it hasn't failed to wake me up yet.
Its volume control isn't linked to your device's, and it's loud enough to put the fear of God in you...[/code]
I am having a similar problem. What you guys dont seem to understand, is, even if there was a $1000 3rd party alarm software, it will be of no use when the phone refuses to wake up.
The problem we have is not of the alarm software, but the simple problem of the phone not waking up, e.g. from standby to ON.
Can someone shed some light on this issue.
Thank You
This forum has not resolved the issue of the battery, hunders if not thousands of people are awaiting some miraculous fix for this. the only thing I know to work is using wizbar to reskin the title bar.
in relation to alarms, sorry, i know the wm5 is a problem. though, the inbuilt alarms that i have used on the device do wake the device up.
the other thing you can try is, dont turn it off, dont allow the system to turn it off after a period of time, and just close the device without turning off.
it will drain a little bit more power, i think approximately 15% over the night than what it would otherwise draing, but if it is plugged in, then it wont drain at all and will ensure the device wakes up.
thanks, it is probably rom related since u report that your device does wake up. Can you tell me what rom version u are using? Thanks

Many thanks, I did try not to switch it off and it works!, even the timers!
my rom is in my signature, unlike yours.
what i was saying was it wakes it up from its sleep, but not its off state.
just closing the clam was sufficient to preserve battery, especially given that at night its always charged. even during the day, i rarely turn it off. i just close the device and let it rest....
Why is the "turn off device if not used for" alway
Does anybody know how to prevent the system from ticking this box every time?
My machine does it on its own, yes, it does, sometimes even after changing from landscaping view to normal.
So, the advice of not turning it off to make the alarms work is OK, but needs constant rechecking that the box remains unticked!!
Thanks,

I would look at your other software that may be enforcing this as it has never happened to me, nor have I read about it.

If you mean Windows\Startup, I have sddaemon, O2 UI Refresh and poutlook.
I have moved them all out (startup folder is empty) and still no luck.

My suggestion unrelated to your problem is to keep "sddaemon.lnk" out of the "start up" folder. If you haven't noticed yet, if you keep sddaemon on the start up folder, after performing a soft reset this file is duplicated under "Notifications" taking up your precious memory and slowing down your machine. You can check it if you have a program that cleans your Notification Que such as "Scary Bear's Check Notification" (freeware).
For the alarm one, does anyone tried using PocketWakeup? The original one is in French, but there is an English version too. Google for it and see if it works on the universal.

Can't think of anything in my PDA that will have that need or ability, it is not an option I've noticed in any program before, but thanks anyway. I'll search around, there must be a solution somewhere

you could try reflashing your rom as you are on the older version.

I got the latest, just haven't updated my profile. I found it! It was Phone Alarm, changed to PocketZen and everything is finally OK
I noticed this evening something strange. I wanted to check a weather forecast on my HD, but when I scrolled to the specified tab, I saw the screen comming up (no weather picture comming up though, and the button Update now was there, but not functioning at all) but nothing happened for a few seconds, and Touchflo3D hangs completely with the following error:
Wer're sorry
A problem has occured with manila.exe
blablabla
Send - Don't send
The stock forecast is working properly though.
Anyone experienced somehting like this as well, or somebody know what I can do to resolve this? I already tried to unload as many programs to be sure that those could not cause it. Also I have not installed something before that happend (at least that I'm aware of, but I don't know what the last time was I could access the Weather forecast correctly actually). The last program I installed was Igo8, but that isn't related at all to that, isn't it... I also reset my device, but the problem is still there...
I hope someone can help me with this. Otherwise I have to hard-reset my HD again, which I don't want to actually....
Thanks in advance.
GreenFrog
Anybody who can help me with this? Is there maybe something I can check in the executable of Manila, or just a part of it. Or can I re-installe the weather app in some kind of way?
GreenFrog
I've never experienced the issue that you are describing. Did you try a hard reset? Perhaps that should suffice for now until someone acknowledges a fix.

Well, that's just the part I want to perform at last. I did a hard reset about a week ago, and have everything installed again; would like to keep it and try to fix only the weather app; that's the only one which is causing the error.
Hmm, I thought I had the answer by deleting the database cache for within \\Touch HD T8282\Application Data\HTC\databases, but still not. Although I'm a little further now, in the meaning that I can see the picture within the tab, but when it tries to update, manila hangs completely and TouchFlo3D restarts again. But when the cache is deleted, and I hook my HD up to my pc and it wants to try to update, it sees there is no connection and comes up with the screen to retry or not. If I select 'No', I can come into the menu, also when I've disconnected it from my system... and keeps running, until I click update again of course...
Have to see what the next part could be. Although the weather application is not that important, I really like to know what could have caused this...

hey guys.

hi greenfrog. i discovered i'm having exactly the same problem you have. have you finally found a solution to this? i hard did a hard reset and installed things (nothing weird) and it happened. i was ok right after the hard reset though...

Oh mine does that too, did you find a solution?
as a matter of fact, i hv both greenfrog and nadar-1's problems.
but nadar-1's problem can be manipulated by "holding the scroll"..though i know there is still a limit.
the weather tab crash with manila.exe error is more serious.
Hi Greenfrog,
I solved my problem. My crash was caused by a tweak in Regional Settings I did. Hope it helps your situation.

I thought i was getting smarter...i was downloading and installing stuff with no problems until this clock program. Can some one tell me how to make it work please. I am running cht's newest version but can't get the clocks to show up...it shows that they are installed...but can't find where they are and how to make them work. Help please...thank you
It would probably help to know what clock app you are trying to use.
It should be in the advanced settings in CHT...there's a drop-down list there to choose whatever compatible clock you have installed.
Thank you I will look in the advanced setting and see if that helps.
I have cookies 1.8.5 and there is no advanced drop menu I can find. I'm trying to use the clock called "the bull C3". From forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670136

Ok well I'm running an older version of CHT (1.7) so I don't know if it's in the same place, but I access it by hitting the "menu" soft button on the home screen, then choosing "edit home layout". Once it enters the editing mode there, you should find the "advanced" button in the bottom right.
Ok...I found the advanced menu right where you said it was..but the clocks I installed don't show up in the options...do I have to install the cab file in a special place to get it to show up in the advanced menu?

Hmm...it was my understanding that whichever clock you have installed (I think you can only have one "actively installed" at a time) would show when you picked the appropriate option in the list...like "analog 1" or "analog 2"
Try picking each of the options that do show in the clock list, and see if any of them are the one you think is installed
Nope that didn't work...it's not there...I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what. I really appreciate all your help. I must be retarded or something.

lol I'm glad it works for you now, I know how frustrating that kind of thing can be. Had you done a soft-reset after you first installed the clocks? Sometimes changes in WM just need to be kick-started with a 2nd reboot.
Yeah I tried to re-boot it several times after installing it...then I uninstalled it and went on here asking for help...then I installed again and re-booted several times during our discussion....then on one re-boot the standard analog clock disappeared...so one more re-boot and magically the one I installed showed up. Now I'm just praying it doesn't have a virus or something. You don't happen to know of a anti-virus for the hd2 do you? Thanks again for all your help.

Nope...I know that there are some AV apps out there for winmo, but I've never felt compelled to test or use any. I'd have a hard time believing that your issue was casued by anything like that though. I'd suspect it's more likely related to the fact you installed all the clock cabs at once, but that's just a guess.

In Marketplace look up 'Lookout'. Its free and works great. But if you are on the stock ROM still dont use it. I had some issues when I was on my original ROM and it froze it to the point I had to hard reset. But it includes antivirus, Malware scan, firewall, etc. Plus it has a nice feature where if its stolen you can remotely (from any PC) 'NUKE' your phones contents. You can also pinpoint its location and go get it. GL!

After installing the clocks cab. then go into edit mode press the old clock till the remove tab appears, then hold the empty sapce till add new tab.appears and select analog 1 from dropdown menu, soft reset and new clock should show. In fact you can get 2 different clocks to display-- one for day and one for night.
how do you get one clock for day and another for night?

Most of the clocks for the 1.8.5 it says you have to uncheck sense install/restart your phone/then click sense back on...yeah pretty complicated other wise it will not show up...usually a reboot will take care of it...As far as two different clocks..I am pretty sure that is not possible...only one at a time...

I have an issue with the clock as well... Ai just got the phone yesterday.
Actually, during the day at the office, the time changes several time by one hour forward... so suddenly after the time was OK in the morning, around 5 PM it showed 11 PM. What do I need to change so the time stays the same? (in the night it went back by one hour, so the alarm woke me up one hour earlier than it should have...wrrr ;-)
BSB tweaks
I am using BSB tweaks, there is option Auto sync clock - just switch off this parameter, it working perfectly. Milan
Actually, when I am at home and have athe autosync on, the time does not change. As soon as I am moving around, the time changes (even though the auto sync is off then). It seems that it changes when the network changes while moving around. When travelling in roaming this weeknd, the time moved forward by 26 hours in just one hour while travelling in a bus.

solution
As a colleague was having the same problem I looked around for a solution. Having found nothing that appeared to work I looked to the HD2 which runs a similar software setup. This is what I found (I can't post the URL so must simply copy & paste from the original page)
Hey kids
This was irritating me too, I assumed it was not a phone issue but, I contacted HTC yesterday & their reply is as follows, there are 2 steps to perform. I did this last night & so far the phone has been perfect:
*

Dear Stuart
This is not a fault with the device or its software, your device updates its time automatically from the Internet and from your mobile provider.
Occasionally there is a difference in the time from the Internet and the time from your provider which can cause the time to appear to be changing when it should be the same.
Normally this will resolve itself within a few days, however, this is very inconvenient so we recommend to disable any automatic time updates on your device.
This will not effect your sync with other things like Exchange and similar
From the Home screen tap:
Start - Settings - Data services - Time synchronization - Untick all here.
AND
Start - Settings - Menu - All settings - Personal/Private - Phone - GSM & UMTS Services - Time synchronization - Get settings - Untick all here.
Sincerely,
Adrian

Hello Dear
there is same problem whit manila weather background ! when it goes dark, weather background dos not change, that shows sun instead moon...??
there's an update on the HTC official mini support page, it supposedly fixes the problem with daylight saving. haven't tried it yet though
I was wondering if I am the only person experiencing this. I am sure there are others, and don't know if it's related to the HTC Surround only, all WP7 devices or just select ones.
Basically, when the marketplace shows updates are available (lets say it says 2 on the icon) and I apply them...once the update is done and I exit the marketplace...the icon still shows 2 until I go in it once more. When you open marketplace the second time it doesn't show anything for updates and the icon refreshes :/
Yup that is a WP7 issue. Probably because the marketplace icon updates when new update notifications are pushed out and when you go into marketplace itself. It probably doesnt check to see if they are installed until after you go back in again. Not a big issue for me, but if you are a little OCD, you might go nuts.
