Just got my HD2 and have been installing games and apps, but they are kind of all over the place, how can I put games in my "games" folder, how can I make folders etc. I hate when I install a game and its icon is in the start menu rather then in the "games" folder.
There are a couple of ways to do this... I use Resco Explorer and go straight to the start menu and cut and paste into new folders (if they don't already exist)...
There are also Apps that do this available here on XDA-Devs JSPA Program Manager is the one I recommend
some of the built in progs, like the HTC stuff, cant be moved, and will reappear with a plain icon if you move them.

Click to collapse
windows>start menu>programs
then which ever icon you want gone.
maybe its just me but I can not find the programs link on the HD2. do I have to turn off the Sense theme for it to show?
use file explorer or total commander.. go to the windows folder then start menu then programs.
SHAZBOT! Thanks!
what is the best way to organize your memory card
how to name your folders fro easier navigation and so they show up in phone's apps by default.
like picture and video folders .
and what are default HD2 folders?
please all yaalll show your folder structure on the card how it is setup.
heres what i have.
audio
books
DCIM
documents
downloads
ebooks
manuals
my documents
program files
videos
zero ( unsorted folder) zero is to make it last in line.
Mine is almost identical to yours (I call "audio" music, and only have an "ebooks" folder).
The only one I have extra is one called "Cabs", which I generally strip out an dput on my PC every couple of months, but until then it's a respository of ones I've tried and liked since my last ROM flash.
I also keep all unsorted files (and also videos) in the root of the drive, but I may start being more organised, and have a "z_More" folder too
ALLWAYSON - for programs that dont need to be installed, like notepad.exe, my provxml files, sendandrecieveall.exe, GPRSEnabler/disabler, googlemaps (I use teh 'fake google maps'using VJBrisk tweak in my rom to allow google maps to run from there, and so not need reinstalling every time i hard reset)
Programs in this folder have hardcoded quicklinks cooked into my ROM to them.
AUTOINSTALL - all my most used cabs live in there, and the cooked roms auto install them whenever i hard reset. Things like resco, opera, MYTWEAKS.cab
CABSTORE - for cabs that i want to have with me, but dont always need to have installed
DCIM - default images folder
INCOMING - my registry tweaks (MYTWEAKS.CAB) point opera and bluetooth to download everything to this folder.
MUSIC - pretty self explanatory
PROGRAM FILES - again, says it all in the name
SCRAP - like a temp folder, i empty it weekly or so.
where does winmo store its wallpapers?
its hella annoying to go thru the whole folder sequence every tie you close the album since thres no back button from full screen preview.
im mostly trying to figure out how to store images and where
i setup my wallpapers by size(480x800 folder name)
when i tried to use that folder as a default for my wallpapers from cht it shows blank album with no pictures...
Hi again,
I`m new to android and have now got my Wildfire rooted and running the latest Wilpuzzle rom.I`ve also got live wallpapers running, got overclocking running and even Angry Birds so thanks to everyone for the help and advice on these forums.
The last little thing that is now got me is can you permanantly delete trash. As I`ve been playing around I have quite often put things on the screen then wanted to get rid of the icon etc.
So I do a long press and the trash icon appears in the notification bar at the top then I just drag the item to the bin and it`s gone.Over the past couple of weeks I`ve done this loads of times. My question is- Is there a permanent delete option like on Windows or is it permanently deleted each time I drag it to the trash?
If the permanent delete option is there where is it?
Thanks again
you can remove the app by downloading apps like easy uninstaller or uninstaller from the market.
or you can uninstall them from menu - settings - apps - manage apps... etc
or if you're using launcher pro, open app drawer, long press an app and drag it over the trash can until it says drop to uninstall, or something like that.
For the built in widget's, I dont think there is a permanent delete option. But, for 3rd party apps, you can simply uninstall the app itself.
you can also delete any folders that have been created by discarded apps using a file explorer
Thanks for the replys,
I have a file explorer and also know how to uninstall unwanted apps, but what I want to know is,when you drop something in the trash can, is it automatically permanently deleted or is it like Windows trash can where the files or whatever are dropped into sit with the option to permanently delete or restore.
If it is where do I find it on the system to find the recently deleted files/apps etc?
It (The widget) is just removed from the home screen, that's it. Its not uninstalled or removed or anything. (Unless you use LauncherPro/ADW's Uninstall Feature from the Trash Can).
Widgets are basically "functioning" shortcuts like the shortcuts on your Windows Desktop (Eg: Windows Vista/7 Clock, Calendar Widget etc), and, the same effect occurs when you remove a widget as is the case with removing a windows shortcut, i.e., only the shortcut gets removed. The app remains untouched. You can add it later as and when desired.
Lastly, there is no concept of Recycle Bin in Android as far as I know to view recently deleted apps / files etc.

Thanks 3xeno thats exactly what I wanted to know.
Ok,
So i create a folder, on the home screen, to place all my games in, and another for all my different apps, all categorized. But after a while they seem to dissapear out of the folder. there still in the main menu area, but the shortcut in the folder is gone. i will add a couple back in there, then others will be gone after a little while, like an hour or so give or take...
any suggestions.
it mainly happens in the games folder, i have about 16 or 17 games when it starts to happen...
Hi! All. I created a folder & added some apps inside. But i decided to deleted the folder & the apps in it disappeared along with it. Is this normal?! Pls help cause i thought that by. Deleting the folder i'm just deleting the folder & not the apps but now the apps are nowhere to be seen
Hello, What launcher are you using? Does the Play Store (Market) still see them as installed?
It is a Touchwiz bug - please se my other posts about this. You will still be able to see the apps in the all apps draw, but to get them back elsewhere you will need to got to settings/applications find TWLauncher and clear data - this will lose your existing folder definitions and some widgets etc, but they will return in the app draw. Best move is to go across to Go launcher HD - more flexible, lag free homescreens and a much better approach to folder /apps organisation.
