I'll be at work all day and won't have much time to do this. But here is what we need.

This is from a rooted 2.1 btw.
Are you interested in having someone (me) do this w/ the leaked 2.1 also?
Could someone please try this test-recovery ?
Ext-3 and 4 will probably not work... I just want to see if the navigation + screen works ok.

any other features work? like nandroid backup or wipe? maybe even ext3?
Thanks for testing.
Could someone try a normal nandroid backup and restore?
A screenshot would be nice too...
All the other features should work, just not ext3 + 4 stuff as it's not in the stock kernel.
I'll remove the ext3 + 4 options from the menu until we have the Eris kernel source.
Nandroid backup works.
ext3 doesn't work.

Ok, I'll try to compile a kernel with ext3 + 4 support and add the functions back to the recovery.
Does it matter that source is for 1.5 and not 2.1?
Amon, they dont have the source for the root img. We have a different kernel.
Your new recovery works, well atleast it boots into it.

The source on the htc site is for kernel version 2.6.27. That means that ext4 is experimental...
What do you guys prefer?
A recovery with full experimental ext4 features or one without?
I doubt I'd use the ext4 myself, but I'm sure some people would love it.

Sorry, I have few time, in this moment, to make any update of this software, but if you get bugs, please report me them and I fix them when I'll have time.
You can make new key with openssl command (just change NAME and PASSWORD):
Code:
openssl genrsa -3 -out NAME.pem 2048
openssl req -new -x509 -key NAME.pem -out NAME.x509.pem -days 10000 \
-subj "/C=US/ST=California/L=Mountain View/O=Android/OU=Android/CN=Android/[email protected]"
openssl pkcs8 -in NAME.pem -topk8 -outform DER -out NAME.pk8 -passout PASSWORD
Thanx for this.
This will be a very, very handy tool. Definitely trying this out when I get home.
Just 2 questions-
Is drag and drop possible?
Also how about signing with different keys like signaptic?
The drag and drop is not possible for the moment I try to add in the next version!
For signing with other I don't know the application use signapk.jar with privatekey.pk8 and publickey.x509.pem so if you want to use another keys just replace the two key file and rename it with the same name (privatekey.pk8 and publickey.x509.pem)
Thx for this
Sent from HTC Knight using MikShift..because CM7 got overrated like CWM
Can you also make this for a mac (Osx 10.x) ?
Thanj you.
I don't know if I make this for OS X and Linux too! Maybe in few week!
is this supported to sign ROM?
i use this to sign CM7.0.0 ROM after i remove some media files (notification/ringtone) and install to HTC Desire, all is good, but whenever i try to flash UOT theme zip, my phone stuck at static boot screen.
is there anything about signing will cause this problem? or the problem is about something else?
anyone have a mirror for the files? fileserve shows as file not there. thx!
Thanks for this and fixing the links.
Very nice tool, this will come in handy!
Other DL links maybe ? This one is not working for me
Flawless. Thanks. I will be following you on Twitter for updates.

Hey!
Could someone port this particular bootanimation for the Optiomus one?
Its Steel's 3rd boot animation (the blue droid eye)

At least, if someone could tell me how to port it, I'll give it a try.
I already opened the zip and resized the images to 480x320 but it refused to show up.

Post the content of the desc.txt file.

I forgot to mention, i also edited this file to 320*480 with 30 (as the older boot animation had 30) it failed.
When i load the file unaltered, it works. however its damn slow and super large.
I also tried to place the resized gifs in another bootimage.zip file (an already working one) but that also failed.
looks very nice ! if you can port to optimus, please share it,

Well, that is obviously wrong. Also, about slow - the last figure is FPS. If the images are large (I mean kBs, not the resolution) and FPS high then it obviously will be slow.
For testing, you can just push it to /data/local/bootanimation.zip and run this:
Code:
adb shell bootanimation
(Abort by CTRL+C).
Finally worked. But only the images in part 0 plays. How do I Get the part 1 to play as well?

thanks, i will if i need to. I figured it out..
now how exactly do I make a gif preview image so that i can add it here?
Edit-- nevermind. I Think i know how.
Niice boot animation
Ok, so I know for the Nexus S the mount point for /boot is:
/dev/block/mtdblock2
But that's only from looking at BM's rom wiper tool. I tried running "mount" under terminal emulator, but it doesn't list the /boot mount point.
I'm hoping to find the mount point on a kindle fire is why I ask. The cyanogen fastboot wiki mentions that it's mtdblock2, but I don't know if this is the case for all android devices.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
EDIT - spoke to one dev and he said that /boot and /system should never be wiped. Now I'm confused, maybe it's differences due to it being a different device?
Have you tried to ask the question in kindle fire forum?

This question isn't really device specific. The reason I haven't asked it there just yet is because there are more devs floating around in the NS forums.
That and the community there is different. Every other thread is a "bricked" thread, where it seems that a lot of users have no idea what fastboot or adb is. =p
"df" doesn't list it for me, so i doubt it is. However, if you do a fresh boot and type in "dmesg" it'll tell you where it's located right up the top (at least on the Nexus S).

Damn it looks different on the KF:
I'm not sure if that's what I need. I don't know if boot partition 2 = /dev/block/mtdblock2.
Ahh, I'm a super newb at this too.
Thanks for the help though.
Never done (or needed to do) any work with locations like this, especially with android. Sorry i can't help further, but maybe someone else around here can shed some more light for you.

/factory doesn't show with df either, although it shows on GN I think...

mount won't show the boot partition, because it's not mounted to the file system afaik.
Try
Code:
cat /proc/mtd
On the NS, it is mtd2, aka /dev/mtd/mtd2.
Boot is where the kernel and ramdisk are stored. If you erase boot, your phone will not boot (go figure).
Then I'm confused, what does the format/ boot function in CWM actually wipe?

Hello!
I've got a Defy with a faulty proximity sensor - the "trick" with loosening the screw does not help, I've also dissasembled the Defy several times, to see, if there are any damages - nothing.
So, the problem is that the Defy is hard to use in this state (I would like to have a CM9 oder CM7 Rom) - so is there any possibility to turn off the proximity sensor on CM9 or CM7 Roms, like you can do it on Miui oder Stock?

Finally I found a solution for this problem...
I did it like described in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8641376&postcount=11
-Copy "sensors.jordan.so" to your pc, it can be found in "/system/lib/hw" either on the device or in an update.zip.
- Open it with a hex-editor
- Search for "/dev/isl29030.als.ISL29030P"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- rename it to "/dev/isl29031.als.ISL29030P" (or whatever you like ;-) )
- push the file back to your phone
Now the screen should stay awake while making a call.
It also works with: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tuba.tools&feature=search_result so you don't need a pc and you don't need to push the files around.

Great solution idea - but I actually cannot replace the file while the system is running. Have not tried via adb, yet.

did it like u said, sometimes it works,some times not.
then changed the "ISL29030P"(only) in whole file. it lasted some more time.
but at end same prob is there
