Is there a way to fix the screen?

Hello all, i'm facing a very serious problem with my skin.
I woke up the morning and the screen of my Atom was awful! I can't describe it because i don't know what the hell it has!
Here is 2 pics to see my problem:
With the screen off the problem is very obvious on the upper left corner

A pic with the screen light on (the problem isn't so obvious)
I'm in desperate position, i don't know what to do!
Is there a way to fix the screen? Do i have to buy a new one? If yes, do you know from where i can buy it? Unfortunately i can't send it from Greece to Hong Kong for the official service.
Any help appreciated!

Im very sorry to hear about your screen. the problem with the screen is that the backlight of the lcd is not functioning. ( Its called BPD-light).
there are 2 options : 1. you can change the whole lcd screen, but thats pretty expensive if its not under warranty 2. you can replace the BPD which is very cheap actually (35-60$ ), but it is very rare to find.
In my store we fix those problems.

Not sure whether it's the similar case as mine. My screen was ever like your atom snap shot a few times. Very clear when it's screen off. Mine's due to the screen got depressed a bit too hard (while in the pocket or doze off on bed with my atom ) that it some how stick to the one beneath. What I did was just to press that area with little preasure and it got back to normal. Hope it helps.

The backlight clearly is working in the second photo.

Yeah, it is the screen's problem and not the backlight.
So, the device it's on the way to HK for the official service and LCD's replacement.

I have seen similar circumstances in many TFT applications (I used to repair digital cameras).
My hypothesis:
The problem is perhaps liquid trapped next to the reflective diffuser sheet(used for backlighting) a piece of opaque polarised plastic paper.
I think water has got between the plastic rear membrane and the diffuser paper, and it is trapping it, in what can only be described as the capillary effect. (HTC might disassemble the LCM, let it dry, and then clean with isopropyl, or just replace it because it's too much hassle).

Finally my Atom is in my hands with the screen replaced!
I have sent my Atom ~20 days ago to Hong Kong with the help of baubaubau (http://forum.xda-developers.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=83579).
I've shipped the Atom to him, and then he has delivered the device to the O2 Support. Also, because O2 has run out of LCDs he gave them a strange push for not the replacement be delayed.
So, i have to thank him in public.

anybody selling parts from a broken g1? I need this asap!

took my phone apart to replace the digitizer and when re-assembling the housing, I pinched the cable to the sd card reader and now theres a hole in it and the phone constantly shows "removed sd card"
this is the part i need, its the pcb board thats in the "chin" of the phone.

Have you checked ebay for broken G1's? You might have better luck on there. Another thing I might try is calling tmobile and try to get someone who has authority to sell a broken G1, I'm sure they have a ton of them with all the people who brick there phones lol.

I have a G1 that I stole the mainboard from to replace a bad one. It was functioning, but had a cracked digitizer. I didnt really have an intention of selling pieces of it, but if I can recover the money I paid and help someone out at the same time, i would sell it. Sending PM....

The earpiece speaker is broken on my G1, I took it apart to see if it was a cable or anything like that but it didn't fix it. Id love to buy that part for $35 if anyone has that laying around. I'm not yet willing to buy a broken G1 for $50+ on ebay. PM me or txt / call 206.801.0359

I sent you a PM. I have a friend that had a similar issue, the speaker was crackling. We actually were able to slide it in without disassembling the phone fully. The 3 screws for the lcd that you can get to were enough to gently flex it apart far enough too slip out the old speaker (they are double side taped in) and slip in the replacement. Tricky, but easier than opening the entire phone. Also, it is a good idea to clean the contacts while your in there- it is possible for the contact to get dirty and cause problems.

For the record, as soon as i get another phone to replace my MT3G, my g1 (my daugher is currently using) will be sold for parts. She'll get the MyTouch hand me down. I might be getting a cliq this weekend, so if anybody is interested PM. Id rather trade for any kind of QWERTY phone.
Its rooted, white with newer housing, the camera and gps dont work. Camera/gallery and other camera related apps force close.

Can I change it alone?

I had the same problem.
Change is very difficult.
If you have not done this until now, you will probably ruined more.
You just need to change the digitizer (the first picture), cost about 40 Euro.
The second picture is just a display (approx. 45 Euro) and not the complete screen (digitizer + display, about 90 Euro)!

I really don't recommended to buy the cheapest digitizer if you buying form ebay should probably search for oem and from USA, first i bought was from China and doesn't work, also if you aren't skilled don't try to repair it yourself is way to better to give it to some services...

I don't understand what you mean, if lcd is working normally there's no need to change, there will not be malfunction after you change digitizer..

did something drop on it or did you sat on it?

First you don't need to change lcd if is still working I'm example of that, but for sound no idea, did you open your phone or it just stop to work suddenly???

You have two ways. First is easy way.
Buy complected digitizer with lcd and you have done on hour.
Second way is buy only lcd and replace it. But there you must very very gently remove digitizer at lcd. This is littlebit tricky. You must use oven. Place oven to 50 °C and place your, attached digitizer and lcd, to oven. 10 minutes is enought. Now you can more easly detach old lcd at digitizer. Be very very careful and gently. You can scratch paint on digitizer on lcd side and also lcd itself. Attaching lcd to digitizer are used sticker adeshive tape. You need buy it too. I dont want advertize one ebay seller but you can use same dealer if you want. I had with that dealer many actions and all time all is correct. And he have most items OEM. Ebay seller name is kr-net.
I recommend first way if you do it first time or not opened any phone before.

[Q] Part of touchscreen dead

Hi,
A part of the touchscreen of my milestone suddenly become unresponsive.

If i press inside the red area (including home button) it wont work and its just like i pressed the near side, like icons in the left or right of that red area.
I tried full data wipe, cache and dalvik, tried flashing newer sbf and no good.
Do you guys have any idea on it?

Better to get a new phone =D

a new phone is your option coz replacing the screen would cost you alot while you can get a better phone in a few bucks more!

New screens are available on amazon for 12 pounds (at least I spend this much)
However It may be a signal cable. They starts from 30$ on ebay

There are disassembly videos on Youtube.
I had a similar problem and I did the replacement two months ago and it works.
I bought the screen digitizer with tools on eBay.
Be sure That you have a torx3 beca use it didn't came on the tools! ;P

I had the same problem... I sent to the Moto Assistance and the had to change the touchscreen for a now one.

Not the cable. If the cable was damaged, it would shut down the entire screen. It's a problem with the digitizer. Hopefully for you it's relatively easy to exchange it, but you'll damage the camera sticker, the top panel of back side, above the battery and the speaker grid sticker (all of those are glued to the phone) in order to open it. Doesn't matter the way you take them over, you'll always damage it. Might wanna buy some of these on ebay too, although I'm not sure they sell it.
I had the exact same problem with my first M2, it was still under warranty but Moto took sweet 15 days to exchange it, and they returned my phone with a stuck volume rocker. Had to send it again, they took more than 15 days this time, so I asked for a replacement.

Nexus 6 Main flex?

So. I have a nexus 6 device and i sent it with a technician for a battery swap (turning of randomly). The thing is when i got it back the phone was dead, the device didn't show any sing of life (didn't boot and didn't even showed a charging animation.), i tought the new battery was the problem but the technician told me that wasnt it. I didn't receive any explanation of what happened to the device or why it didn't turn on.
Anyway. I oppened the device myself and realized that a flex was partly sliced. (the flex conected to the other flex that's supposed to be for the buttons).

Connection cables look okay to me since my nexus 6 didnt have a back at first so ik the battery maybe be dead but its also super dirty or it could also be a software problem

Actually now that i took a closer look it seems the cable is damaged almost ripped apart you might wanna get that replaced

You can usually find spare parts like this cheap on AliExpress - but it may take a long time to deliver.
