First explore Touch HD takes too long Windows7 64 bit - Touch HD General

Hi people,
I have a very annoying problem...
I am using Windows7 64 bit. When I first plug my device (Touch HD) to my PC, it takes 20-30 seconds to view the directories under windows explorer.
I read articles related to "updating HTC USB Sync Drivers" and did step by step everything carefully. But also after updating the HTC USB Sync driver, it takes too long at the first explore.
After first exploring, it explores with no problem, instantly.
Is there anything to correct this issue?
I am going crazy... Please help...!!!

USB Drivers - Please Help

Hello i need some help
Im using Windows 7 64 bit.. and befor all was fine now from some time i see there have some problem and i cant understand why...
I have Blackstone and when i do Disc Drive mode for "Faster" Transfer is very very slow LOL.. at 1st i was thinking that my SD card is the problem but i use the same SD card from 2 years and never had problem like this befor.. also few times i FORMAT the SD card and etc but again the problem is the same from 1-2 weeks even the Active Sync is faster than Disc Drive yesterday when i do format my SD card i try to put back around 3 GB of files.. and was writen remaining time 15 Hrs WOW so i just leave the phone all night the files to be transfered.. also i try to copy this 3GB with Active Sync and was done for 9 hrs so faster than the Disc Drive witch is not normal.. now im starting ot think that there is some problems with the drivers?!?!
Also sometimes.. when i Disc Drive my device there is a pop up messege " THIS DEVICE CAN PERFORM FASTER" but when i click on the setting i cannot see anything so i think the Drivers have problem or the Settings or maybe both.
PLEASE can anyone with Windows 7 64bit can tell me what i need to do.. what settings you have?! where to change them and maybe do someone have a NEW USB drivers ?!
Will be very glad if someone can help me out because right now i need to wait a lot even if i want to transfer one Mp3 to my device!!!
I chek this.. also with Another Blackstone and is again the same witch mean Is not from the Device or the SD card is something related to the USB drivers/settings etc.
THank you in advance
If it's any comfort, I know how You feel I had a similar problem with 1GB USB stick and Vista. After hours of research, applying 4 (yes, four!) different hotfixes and bunch of registry edits and restarts, I was still in the same spot where I started - meaning transfer of some 700MB of data to the stick took more than 1,5 hours, which is nonsense. Anyway, as far as I am concerned, there is a problem with some of USB handling in Vista (and possibly maybe on W7 too). When it's one large file, it's quite OK, but when I have 5-6 thousand small files, it takes forever to copy. The point is, I think it's likely that the problem is on the PC side rather than on the PPC side, so maybe You can narrow it down some more. I personally gave up and went back to XP - no problems ever with such things. MS is really "improving" their OS

Ok getting epically pissed

Ive been trying to root my KF for about a week and for some reason i am completely unable to do it even though i followed multiple guides to the exact letter, my problem i that no matter what i do my KF will not show up under "adb devices". so i would rele like some help if you guys r willing to give it, also dont feel the need to simplify things, definitely not a noob at this kind of stuff lol.
would suggest to uninstall all the old drivers:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315539/en-us
then use this ones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20855280&postcount=54
unplug and long power down the kf then power down (not restart) the computer sometimes helps (computer still thinks it's connected)
if computer is up again connect whithout powering the kf on (will do it itself)
allthrough i think you have gone through all this
no more ideas ...
Did you try using adb under linux ???
I just found the linux usb drivers much more stable than the windoof once.
But maybe uninstalling the old drivers under win will do the trick too.
Talk to vashypool in irc he could help u

I had a similar experience. The first time installing TWRP, it was stuck on the FFF boot screen. I installed the drivers but every time I connected the KF to the PC, it would not detect properly. Several connects and disconnects later it showed up properly in the device manager.
I have seen this before with other Android devices. Some computers USB bus can't detect certain USB devices. Annoying. Maybe try another computer?

HD2 stuck at go go go!

Hello all,
I want to start off by apologizing if this has been answered somewhere else........because if it has....I simply just cannot find it. I have been looking for hours and hours because i know people don't like reposts, but alas I don't know what else to do.
My Dad brought me his HD2 about a year ago complaining that he didn't want windows mobile anymore and he had actually been trying to install android following the instructions here on xda. Well I helped him get it installed using magldr and it has been working great. The other day he dropped his phone about 8 feet and broke the screen. The phone still worked fine, just a nice crack or 2 or 3 in the middle of the screen. He had the phone replaced but now whenever he boots it just gets stuck at go go go!
I have tried task 29, but when it comes to the screen that says current phone version it is blank then the next screen it tries to update but then it fails (see attachment). So i opened the Windows mobile device center to see if it was seeing the phone and sure enough it isn't syncing and i am not sure how to get it to sync. I did read however that I could just take the phone to the bootloader (the screen with the 3 colors), make sure that it said usb at the bottom and task 29 from there, but i got the same result.
I am pretty sure the radio is a 2.15.5* version, although i dont remember for sure because i did this so long ago. I thought it showed the radio on the bootloader screen, but now that i look it does not. It is on SPL-2.08.
Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I am using windows 7, but i do have windows xp mode. I installed activesync in the VM but it still cannot see my phone. I went into the bootloader and connect the cable, it changed to usb so i thought i would try and run the RUU exe and see if i would have any luck, but i am getting the same result. I am guessing the phone has to be recognized by the active sync, am i right? How can i go about getting it to recognize it?
You should try to reflash it with a stock ROM from microSD and see if everything else, but usb port, is OK.
NB It seems your usb port is faulty...

[Q] No HDD found, neither in BIOS nor in Win 7 Setup

Hi,
I am having huge problems with my HTC Shift X9500. The harddisk is not recognized, it is neither shown in BIOS nor in the Windows 7 Setup.
I already tested a new hdd and a new zif-cable.
Now at least the harddisk light is on when it boots.
Is there anything I can do?
Or do I have to install any drivers or whatever?
Thanks!
one thing that may have occured: is the cable connected right´way? HD turned 180 degrees?
Drivers of course... how-tos allaround here...

I tried every possible way to connect the harddisk. I mean drivers or any bios tricks to make sure that the harddisk is recognized.
Did you try to restore your system to a previous state?
I lately came around to see my marvell card was "lost"
and no driver update helped/ was possible.
Went back four weeks, new original driver update - et voilá!
Maybe something similar.
How can I do that? When system boots it says that I have to insert a proper boot media.
In Bios there is no harddisk shown in menu "Boot" and windows-setup also does not show a boot media.
Strange is that even Bios does not show the hd..
Any new ideas?
not really...
of course you could boot from USB
Question is if it doesn't show HDD just because Bootsectors are damaged,
or because of some physical damage in connection between HDD and motherboard.
You could take a usb-zif adaptor, connect it to a pc and take a look what happens here.
I just ordered an usb adapter so that I can test it. Thanks for all your answers.

I am also having the same problem. Sometimes my HD is recognized sometimes not. For a while, my Shift just showed the "not recognized" error. I assumed the HD had died. After a week or so (to my surprise), booted up (HD found) again.
Now, about 3 weeks after first "not recognized", still having problems. Cold boot's take longer and much more problematic, then restarts. Can the problem be temperature related?
My Shift runs original Vista Business (Swedish). Sorry no solution, just share your problem.

Warmed my Shift (blow dryer) before cold boot. Shift booted on first try.
Will try the blow dryer again, the next time Shift shows the, "no HD/bootable device" error.
Shift with SSD... Have you tried it?

Any long time users of an SSD in a Shift... Does a SSD improve the Shift? Faster boot times? Less heat? Any problems?
Thanks in advance for replies.
strange phenomenom... hasn't there been a song by kate bush? -
i just have updated my shift to 2GB, now booting and running much faster
may it be possible system updates have caused lame startup/system performance?
try system restore to a point six months back or updating hardware.
Don't remember the Kate Bush.
I have uninstalled some programs... no change. Have not tried system restores. (After many failed attempts, finally succeeded with all patches/updates for Net. Framework 4. Don't look forward to that again).
Hope that the problem with my Shift is a software (not hardware) issue. Will first try, a system restore as you suggest. And, if necessary, a total reinstall (original factory Vista).
Read somewhere that more ram means lower battery times. Is this true for your shift? Does the 2GB make a better Shift?

"Booting and running much faster" sounds good. Will consider these hardward updates if I can get my "no bootable device"/HD problem solved. Thanks for the system restore suggestion. Is it correct, that (besides 2GB ram) your Shift is also updated with a SSD? If yes, which? How long ago?
SSD makes it run a bit faster, gives you more storage and reduces noice. Real boot improvement you get by increasing RAM-
there are 2GB 214Pin storages available making your shift real smart.
Heat Vent on the back shows wear. Same for yours?
I'm wondering if the age of my Shift plays in. I am its original owner. Think I purchased it back in 2008. On the back of the Shift is a air vent with a metal cover with holes. Here my Shift shows definite wear & tear The metal is deformed inward & with an extra large gap. Is this usual wear?
In addition, today my Shift showed a new error "BOOTMGR is missing". Still haven't tried a six month previous (or so) windows restore. Perhaps I should. (Or a clean installation of Windows).
First try restore.
With ssd you have one moving part less, so less heat, so less ventilation running, so less battery drain...

Which SSD/usb-zif adapter (?) works best with HTC Shift?
"First try restore".
Tried to repair Vista Startup/bootsector files by booting from usb with Windows Vista Dvd. The Startup Repair does not recognize my Vista Installation. Nothing under "Operating Systems" (see attached image).
My Shift does not start, and can not be restored. I think my hard drive is totally dead.
Usb-Zif suggestions may be a solution for me too. Will upgrade with SSD & 2GB (not HD).
Why then not simultaneously upgrade to Win7?
Of course me myself had to pay more for Win and SSD
as paid for Shift, 2GBRam then was pure luxury...
Which works best on Shift Windows 7 or Windows 8?
"Why then not simultaneously upgrade to Win7?"
Because Windows 8 came after 7, felt Windows 8 better that Windows 7.

USB won't recognize.

Do I need some proprietary USB dongle accessory for my G5 Plus for it to connect to my PC? Because I've tried ten different cables over the weekend and the damn phone won't do anything but charge when I connect it to my PC. No dropdown MTP menu selection, no camera mode, nothing. My PC just whines about it not recognizing a USB device and my phone simply charges albeit slowly. I haven't updated my phone at all since I got it on Friday because I don't want to risk screwing root up. Should I try that? I just want to root my damn phone already.

Hi there: I'm currently soft-bricked, and trying to find my way back to life. I mention that because I can't step through what I'm about to say, it's coming from my human memory. I'm sure some subsequent poster will explain something, give attitude and tell us both how stupid we are, but that's just how it goes.
Assumptions I'm making: You're running windows on your PC, because you said "my pc whines...." sounds like windows to me!
So, as I recall, you need two things to get your pc to "see" your device in windows explorer.
1. Proper Drivers
2. A selection change in the MTP menu
For drivers, windows sometimes does this for you, it works sometimes depending on your windows flavor and your device brand. You can work this angle by looking at usb entries in device manager for yellow warnings or red exclamation marks to see if you're over the driver hurdle. Or you can search for installers of just the drivers for the Moto G5 plus, or you can install Motorola device manager, which installs the drivers.
So if you fix that, your pc won't whine when you plug the device in on usb, but you still can't see it in explorer without going from USB charging to "transfer files". I believe you have to pull the notifications shade down once or maybe even twice where you'll see a list. Because I've been rooted and had usb debugging enabled in the past mine had two entries, and it was the second one at the bottom where I could use it to go from "charging only" to "transfer files".
At that point, your pc should make the thump thump sound and your phone should appear under "this PC" in windows explorer.
To the gods of Android karma. Gimme a break, forgive me for my sins of the past and breathe life back into my primary communication device. Open my blind eyes and give me the understanding to ignore the noise and focus on the message. Lead me to the promised land as I remain your humble servant.

You assume correctly, win7 64bit. Oh I neglected to mention, I've already installed the drivers and the moto manager but my phone won't show me the MTP menu in the dropdown shade when I connect it to my PC via usb and my PC continues to give me the USB device not recognized prompt on my taskbar. I got it to work for half a minute with one cable on saturday but then my internet cut out before I could do anything. The cable stopped working right afterwards too. I already have USB debugging enabled and I haven't bothered to update the phone yet, I'm gonna go to best buy and try finding a new usb cable since all of the ones I have now are old or not meant for phones. I'd use the one my phone came with but I friggin left it at my friends house way up in gloucester and I really don't feel like driving for an hour when I could just get a new one right down the street, you feel me?
