I would just like to start this thread and say thank you to any and every developer who have helped progress me and the htc dream or g1. Without all of you my phone would not be the great gadget that it is today. I dont know if i can even call it a g1 because its been a Ion, Sapphire, Rogers, Jesusfreke mod, and currently a Hero. Thank you to all the developers here who have provided their know how with themes, apps, games, and modified roms. thank you very much your passion and hard work is much appreciated!!!!
I second that!
I remember getting my G1 back on the release date last year with big hopes and haven't been let down. It was a bit scarier back then, I was a guinea pig in rooting before there was a such thing as a "recovery.img". Here I am a dozen roms later still modding strong!
Again, a big thanks to every dev out there, from the ones making icons to the ones giving us entire roms. I'd also especially like to thank Jesusfreke and all the guys in #android who helped get me off the ground back in '08.
Hi To ALL ROM developers..
Thought I would be the first to say a big THANK YOU to all ROM developers on the hero.... To me the phones name is a sham but the real heros are those of you who have developed roms and supported us throughout are moaning etc(yep that is me too)... I have to say my experience so far on Android has been a NIGHTMARE and will not be getting another droid phone nor recommend one to the degree am getting a new(ish) WINMO with 6.5 as to me that was stable and worked properly..... BUT what has kept me holding on with droid has been the shear patience and support from the Developers.You kept me coming back and not the phone and os... So I offer a heart felt thank you to you all...
so to the developers
THANK YOU AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
i was in total agreeance with you... untill u started talking about getting a WinMo7 phone
Android is the future! Thanks to all the devs and those that support them

same from me. owning a phone has never been as fun as this last year.
Hi guys,
Just thought I'd share my recent success with you all and thank you for being here.
I'm a Dell Streak user, but recently dropped it and smashed the LCD. While I'm waiting for the new LCD to arrive, I borrowed my brother's old GSM Hero (he now uses a Nexus S) as a stop gap. It was on 2.1 with operator branding and bloat.
I turned (as I always do) to this forum for pointers on rooting and modifying my "new" device and found a very buoyant Hero section.
Now, when I owned a Hero (probably 2 years ago now) it was all about making gold cards etc. and was a very complicated process.
Within half an hour and with help from various posts on here, I had rooted with universal androot, had installed a custom recovery and had flashed the Elelinux Speedmachine v4 rom.
I'm absolutely blown away with how useable the Hero still is, it does almost everything I need it to, and does it well. This is all testament to the users/mods/devs here and I thank you.
Happy Hero user,
malty
I just got my hands on a hero! im surprised as the community still seems alive on an old phone! I would much rather have an old phone than a cheap feeling tacky budget phone.
Fantastic isn't it? How a relatively old phone can still be quite powerful thanks to the work of all the devs here. Loving my Hero because of it's timeless built, and thanks to all here, I can love it for it's functionality too.
Well done all.
I know I havent been particularly active in this subforum lately because there wasnt much to update on the touchwiz front
but anyway, just wanted to say goodbye to those that are left...my parents took the leap into smartphones recently and i gave them my fascinate and og inc to use (so i can snag their upgrades when needed)
so while i had promised that on the small chance another ota dropped for verizon id update resurrection and superclean...that small chance just went to 0 w/o a phone to work with
the fascinate was the first android phone i had that i actually did anything for...starting with porting themes back in the fall of 2010 alongside retrokidd, thatdudebutch, et all...before eventually moving on to roms and mods
most of the people in the android world im friends with were because of this phone, so i look back on this time fondly and hope to see most of you around in the future when our paths cross on other phones (sgs3?)
thanks for everything! you've been a great help and a great dev.

Big thanks from us CSpire Showcase guys... you helped us out a LOT along the way!! Hope paths do cross again on other phones...
Tip of the hat and many thanks, SC3 was superb.
Farewell for now, my friend. Thank you for everything. I hope to see you soon in the GS3 subforums.
You are definitely a beast man. Thanks for everything!
~~~~There is no spoon~~~~
Thanks for all the great work. And for all the laughs.
I first met you on another forum and I had to leave Verizon for financial reasons. My business was getting worse so money was tight. I remember when i said my goodbyes you were very kind and wished me good luck...I wish you all the same my friend.
thanks for everything nitsu been following ya' since the DJ05/DI03 days good luck with everything
Good luck and thanks for everything. Looking forward to more of your work, hopefully Verizon will get the S III and let the tweaking begin !
Sent from my Fascinate running the awesome SuperClean !
You breath life into the fascinate when verizon/samsung left it in the dark with updates. I was in froyo months before it was release by v, I was on gingerbread again months before v put it out, all thanks to you.
To your credit also, I have tried everything, from miui to cm7 and the lastest aokp and asop roms. I keep coming back to your tsm 2 rom, it is a jewel of stabilty and functionality.
thanks for your hard work, and the countless hours of coding. I will see you in a better place, called samsung fascinate 3.
We can't thank you enough. Your legacy lives on. As long as Fascinates continue to function, you will have fans and followers.
Thanks for everything bro. I've seen your posts all over the place and they are always helpful.
Sincere thanks and appreciation for all you've done. I hope our paths cross again.
Thanks man.. My upgrade has been up since October but I'm holding out for SG3 and I'm hoping it's gonna drop soon in the next month or two..
To be honest, the Fascinate turned out to be a great phone once most of the kinks were worked out, with much of that credit going to all the developers working on giving functioning ROMs..
I'm in no rush to leave just yet, haven't been brave enough to flash to AOKP ICS..
So in ending, I'm not saying goodbye, more like see you soon in another forum banging out some cool themes and ROMs for our future phones!
Thanks for everything nitsuj17. There was a while there where it looked like we'd be faced with a decision between Froyo GB ROMS or going with one of the AOSP offerings. While I liked what they had to offer (and great things continue to be worked on) I found myself wishing for some of the things I missed from TW (such as the camera app and media players) and just plain stability.
You came through with exactly what I wanted. Previous to now my favorite time on the Fascinate was with SC2 and now with SC3 I really don't feel I need to change a thing. On one hand I'm sad that I won't be tinkering around as much (because everything just works and works very well), but on the other I have a pretty sweet device (what turned out to be one thanks to yours and other's work). I think if the Fascinate dropped with this software it would not be the butt of jokes re: Bing and the GPS issues.
I think when it comes time to upgrade (soon ...) a big deciding factor will be where you and people like sbrissen end up. Cheers!
*PS If your parents have an issue do you make them submit a logcat? j/k
What are you using till you upgrade? Inc2?
Thank you for giving us great ROMs to make our phones run the way they should've in the first place. Your comments were always right on. Thanks for your work on TSM and SuperClean!
Yesterday was a sad day. My OG EVO left my hands to be replaced by a Galaxy Nexus on the Big Red network.
It was bitter sweet. I really loved my EVO. However my love was not as strong for Sprint and their AWFUL data service.
I just wanted to thank everyone that has had a hand in developing and helping noobs like I once was in making my phone what it was and in reality, making it bearable to use on Sprints network.
Because of this community, I got my feet wet with rooting. Learned how to flash custom roms, kernels, mods, and themes.
There are way to many people to thank that in some point or another I flashed something they dev'd on my phone. However there are 2 that I want to single out. They cyanogen mod team for their CM7 builds and Dark Tremor for his A2SD. Without those 2, my phone may not have lived as long as it did.
The last ROM that I had flashed was MBQsniper's SensuAOSP.
I plan on ducking in here every now and then just to see what is still being developed simply because there is so much of it for a phone that by todays standards is obsolete. Thanks again everyone. Happy flashing
