i rooted my phone using the goldcard method. it all went ok until i downloaded the Rom-RAv1.1.0H-signed-update.zip ROM. This was supposed to allow me to install another ROM but it was also supposed to work and allow me to test the phone. My phone came up fine with the Google ION asking me to touch the phone screen to continue. However, the touch screen does not work. The buttons work and I get 3G service because I see the icons appear and I am able to setup APN but I cannot use the touch screen at all? I believe I started with a 32A and I have tried 32A and 32B ROMs. Could this have to do with the boot IMG file I used?

be more specific. tell what country your phone is from, which board is your phone (32A or 32B), etc.
Just reroot using the way on unlockr.com because you are using a really old way to root and a really old recovery image.
I am from the US and I am using a TMOBILE Mytouch 3g with the 3mm plug which I believe is a 32B since what I have read says the only tmobile 32A's are the fender version. I used the theunlockr.com site and it instructed me to do the goldcard method because I just bought my phone with the "perfect SPL" and when I tried to do the oneclick method it said i had the wrong version. I did the goldcard method from the site and then when I downloaded their recommended images my phone screen did not work. I will look again and see if there is a more up to date way of doing it from there. I did find one that said it was obsolete so I avoided that posting.

This is what my phone says but it may be i used old or non compatible ROM based on what the GOLDCARD instructions were and where they pointed. After my touch screen did not work i then followed instructions to "unroot" which is what the above information reflects.
It is a known issue with the new MT3G/Fender. If you use unmodified Sapphire ROMs, touchscreen doesn't work.
There are several threads about this is the dev forum, this one for example. Someone has made a few ports with working touchscreen here.
Hope this helps!
Awesome job swiss. I found this out the same time you posted it 1:00am this morning and yup I can confirm that the MyTouch 3G with the 3.5mm kills the screen with all regular Mytouch 3g 32A or 32B builds. It has to do with the fact the screen drivers are not available to the developer. There is only one way of rooting which also does not support wifi tethering since the netfilter is not availble on this model either. Do not try 32A or 32B you must use the Mytouch 3g 3.5mm SPL only with its radios also. All fenders seem to work the same. Reference Fender/MT3G/1.2/3.5mm to search these forums as this phone while ROMS will not work for the phone. If you have some how "bricked" your phone with no radio and/or no touch screen dont worry you can get it all back. BTW TMobile will not tell you 3.5mm is any different than the non 3.5mm Mytouch 3G but it has a faster CPU and 100MB more ram however only one rooted support ROM with little hope for getting a new one for a couple months. Your links are the same ones I found I can confirm that they work well!

I rooted my MT3G early on using the goldcard method - it is currently running the RAv1.1.0h rom from the original rooting thread. It has the 1.33.2005 SPL and the 3.22.20.17 radio. In fastboot I can see that it the SPL is an HTC version (I think that is what PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H means, right?).
I'm having trouble moving to a 32B rom, and no matter what I try, I can't get the damn recovery image to switch from the current RAv1.2.1H to the G - which is (I assume) why I can't install any 32B roms.
Any foolproof way to change my recovery image from H to G? I've followed all the steps listed on how to do this in Fastboot and using ADB to switch it over, but no matter what I do, it has no problems booting correctly with an H recovery image, but not with a G.
Any 32B roms just makes the phone hang at the splashscreen, so I know it's a rom issue.
OR - Am I missing a step here - is there a different spl I need in order to get my MyTouch 3G to think it is a G edition again. OR easier yet, should I stop whining and just find a reliable 32A rom that works on it (assuming something without too much HERO stuff?).
YES - I searched everywhere, I spent countless hours on it, but I can't help feel I've missed something really stupid, so feel free to call me names and point out the obvious (just don't say "try Google).
Are you still able to use flashrec? If yes try to flash this one>> cm-recovery-1.4 works fine if you want 32B roms. Enom uploaded latest version yesterday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549754 nd if you want version prior to this then go to http://www.4shared.com/file/129108782/3953f016/HTC__crc1__Android_rooted_Rom_32B_TMobile.html
unzip and make sure to install one after the other. Large one first and rename as update ,put in your sd card. Once that is performed then go to the next small one about 14mb. Rename as update and put it in sdcard. Dont forget to delete the large one if already there.
Let us know how you go on.
No - Flashrec won't run since the rom I'm currently using has the exploit patched.
Good tip though, thanks! Any other thoughts on why I can't get the 1.2.1G recovery image on my phone? Or an alternative way to get it to install?
EDIT: Took a few steps back, installed the sappimg for the MT3G, then did flashrec and then did the update with the rom you posted. Thanks so much for the tip and inspiration!
Yes, well done. Thanks for letting us know. And yes flashrec wont work on these rom also. I tried many times to flash with RAv 1.2.1image but it seems it was not possible. I asked emon in his T Mobile rom thread where he gave me a tip as to how to go about RAv.... but that hasnt worked.
But there is a solution if al you want is to make 3 partitions.
I followed Paaragon method as described on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=512873
and it worked. So try that.
I tried many different roms and finally settled on enomther's
because it is very fast, not too cluttered and just perfect for 32B boards. And further more, there isnt anything that doesnt function.
PS: I prefered the one prior to current as on 4shared. But thats personal.
unroot completly by re insttalling the saphimg and go with the oneclick root method from the unlocker thats what i did and TITS! perfict running hero and full 32 b envierment raido and roms ... be carefull with the 32 a 32 b mixup could be the end of your touch....
Hello All,
OK so i bought a used HTC MAGIC. When i bought it, it was already rooted, and had the ROGERS HTC ROM. But i wanted to load a different ROM onto the phone and in order to do that i had to unroot the phone and start from scratch to be able to root my phone in one click, as instructed by theunlockr.com
On the same site i found a method to unroot the HTC Magic, the link provided gave me a "sappimg.nbh" that ended up unrooting my phone while flashing the My Touch 3G from T-Mobile onto the phone.
In order to root my phone again i followed the steps on theunlockr.com "How-to root the magic in one click". it said that if your motherboard is 32A download the Amon_RA's "recovery-rav1.2.1h.img". my phone specs are:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAP50000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-2.22.19.261
BUT after multiple attempts and fails i tried flashing the Amon_RA's "recovery-rav1.2.1g.img", which is designed for 32B motherboards, and it was a success.
BUT once again i tried to load a different ROM and seeing that my motherboard is 32A i tried to load ROMs designed for 32A. It would NOT work, the MY TOUCH 3G screen would pop up and stay there forever.
I then tried to load ROMs designed for 32B motherboard and guess what it worked.
Plus when i load HERO ROM's onto my phone it goes very very slow, and right now i have a cyanogen ROM on the phone and it is working perfectly fine.
SO i hope by now you can understand where the confusion lies...the motherboard is 32A but only ROM's desgined for 32B work on the phone.
I would prefer to start from scratch and put my phone back to the ROGERS ROM, rooted or unrooted doesn't matter. So if anyone can provide me a "sappimg.nbh" for the HTC Magic that will flash the ROGERS ROM to my phone i would greatly appreciate it.
Even when i load ROGERS ROM's onto my phone i still get the MY TOUCH 3G boot image.
Im afraid i might encounter problems later due to all these different ROM flashings, so i would like to start from scratch.
Please help me in this matter either by explaining what is going on with my phone, and/or providing me with the correct files ("sappimg.nbh") to reset my phone back to the ROGERS ROM.
Were you able to figure this out? I have a similar issue.

when you flashed over the nbh for the mytouch, you basically made your phone a 32B. the radio and spl for a 32B is different than a 32A. That's why only 32B roms work on your phone. To fix this, all you have to do is flash over the 32A radio and spl, then you are good.
This thread will get you back to a 32A setup. All your problems will be fixed from there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544761
What surprises me is that flashing over the nbh didn't brick your phone because of the different spl's. You lucked out I guess.
That link will get put the 32A radio and recovery on your phone. From there, you should be able to hopefully flash the spl over without any problems. can't guarantee it though since I have never seen a similar situation as yours is.
Fixed: I couldn't flash using adb, but was able to get into fastboot. As a last resort, from fastboot I ran the executable from the HTC website (RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_2.17.631.2_release_signed_NoDriver.exe from http://www.htc.com/ca/support/magic-rogers/downloads).
It reset everything to default, including perfected SPL, but from there it was easy to re-root.
i have the same problem
i have the same problem with u now, please tell me how you fix it, cause i cant update the official RUU with the current condition, it wont recognize the device.
TIA
I had an htc fuze with wm, iphones, and now i bought a used htc magic/mytouch.
Im not sure whats the difference but i do need lots of help.
The Phone says t-mobile in the front, my touch logo and with google on the back and when i turn it on it says vodafone and then htc magic so im not sure what i have. and it doesnt have a 3.5mm headphone jack, it has the usb headphone jack.
I´ve been trying to root the phone for the last 8 hours with no luck. I´ve used 5 guides and non have worked for me. I used amon ras guide and i think thats the closest i´ve gooten to root the phone.
When i got the phone it had android 1-6 and i read the theunlockr one click guide that said i had to download to 1.5 so i did. then i checked my mb version and it said 32 b but when i run flashrec it said i have EAI1/32A. Not sure what that means. I ran the command and when i tried to go to recovery to install a rom i only got the original recovery screen and not the custom.
With amon raps guide i flashed with goldcard and flashed the hboot 1.33.0005and flashed a 32a rom and radio and amon ra´s recovery and then returned to 32b radio and installed cyanogenmon rom froyoredux 1.2- everything went well but when i turned on the phone it got stuck on the vodafone splash, i left it there for over 20 minutes and nothing happend. I flashed again with my goldcard and im back at 1.5 and unrooted. I´ve done some more guides but it was almost the same but none worked. the closest i´ve gotten to 2.2 is this last guide but i get stuck at splash. Ive also tried other rams, thinking maybe theres a problem with the one i used and no luck.
Then i took my friends htc magic 32A and used amon ra´s and it worked perfectly the first try but my 32b i can´t root it. please help, i really dont like 1.5 i feel im missing out on too much stuff. here the info from the phone i get when i press return+power

thank you very much.
I was going to try to help but can't since I've only got experience with the myTouch 1.2. Sorry, gl anyways.
so, here´s an update of what ive done since yesterday. I found cyanogen guide on rooting that didnt involve a a gold card but when i flashed the sappimg it said fail main version older. then i passed to cyanogens second guide that was a mix of his and amon ra´s no luck either, i mean i can flash everything, including the radio and back to the 32b rom but then it stays stuck at the splash screen. If i put the gold card in again with the sapp, i go back to 1.5 and boots up perfectly but i cant do it with any other rom. Then i tried a mix of all the guides, i even updated my spl to 1.33.2010 and then flashed a 32a rom and 32 radio and nothing, i really dont know how im so lucky that my htc hasn´t bricked after all these things but kid you not i´ve trioed over 100 ways to do it and no luck. I´m pretty sure it has something to do with the radio, right now i have radio 3.22.23.18and hboot1.33.2010. can any one help me please
Hi,
I am not all that new to rooting / flashing i've had a lot of experience but i think i've made a school boy error.
I rooted a HTC Magic last night and added the 1.5 Hero Rom.
this morning i looked for a later ROM and i found one from the unlockr.
the issue with this was that it required a radio flash. My 32B Magic is now flashed to 32A and i cannot even get into recovery mode OR re-flash the radio.img i had originally through fastboot.
Upon boot the Magic just comes up with the Mytouch 3G spash screen and nothing else.
Details:
Rooted using gold card method, fine.
Hero rom installed: fine.
Updating the ROM however, the radio was flashed to 32A and now i cannot get back into recovery mode.
Is there anything i can do? has anyone seen this before? I really don't want to keep using the motorola dext, sorting this magic out will make me happy.
Please help.
thanks.
you cant go in fastboot mode???
[edit]No, I can get to fastboot, i can get the opening my touch splash up but nothing is working from there. i've tried the arab rom but i can't get my pc to recognize. there has to be a way to flash this back...
[edit] update - Attempted to flash stock 32B Radio to get rid of the 32A that i think's causing the issue - fastboot flash radio.img... Sends radio OK but hangs on Writing radio, I get a black screen on the device. didn't work.
I don't want to ruin the mood any more than it is now, but I did practically the same thing; flashed 32B radio onto 32A Magic, and it was unrepairable in my country. Sold it for parts a few weeks later and got another one.
No fastboot, no boot at all, nothing. All that I was able to get was the blue led mode (trackball + power), and the only repair method was JTAG, which wasn't available to me.
That sucks.
From what I can gather this very well might be dead but everything I can find tells me as long as i can get into fastboot there must be something i can do.
At the moment I can use fastboot and HBOOT but i'm unable to get to a recovery or flash a stock radio.
so far i've tried every recovery/radio i can get my hands on. Hope i'm missing something and somebody is able to help.
flashing 32B to 32A does make me feel a bit spastic to be honest. it's a mistake I can never repeat with anything!

Hi,
I recommend that you download this switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794450&highlight=eyegor). Only to use the files (HBOOT, RADIO and REVOVERY), again ONLY because of the files.
After download reboot on fastboot mode and flash: HBOOT, RADIO and RECOVERY, using this sequence.
Good luck,
I'm not sure if this will deal with 32B Magic that's been flashed to 32A but i'll give it a shot. thanks.
Unfortunately there was no luck with that or the Arabic RRU, The GUI Switcher method to flash the radio failed, now phone won't even turn on.
If it wasn't a brick before, it sure as hell is now. i'll chalk this one up as a mistake i think and just be more careful in future.
I recently bought a second hand HTC Magic and flashed an engineering SPL(This booted ok). I have installed Amon Ra's recovery(Which seems to work fine) however it will not boot after installing a custom ROM (i have tried cyanogen 5 & 6 and yoshi's) it just hangs on the HTC Magic screen.

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
Something i noticed was that i used to have a G instead of a H, could this be it.
That radio requires 32A ROM's. If you flash CM ROM's, you need to also flash the appropriate EBI1 kernel from their download section.
Thanks for that info. I have now got cyanogen mod 6 installed.
Unfortunately I cant connect to the mobile network. when i bought the phone i expected it to be locked to Vodafone and expected it would ask me for an unlock code when i put in my Giffgaff sim. Does this mean it is unlocked? Giffgaff is on the O2 network so i have tried selecting that in the network operaters list, however it says that my sim does not allow a connection to this network. Also i tried a vodaphone and an orange sim out of some other peoples phones but they didnt work either.
Something seems wrong here.
The device says it's 32B, so is the SPL, but the radio is 32A.
Even on the MyTouch 1.2 the SPL would show 32A, correct?
Which I doubt this is because the UK is in the UK, and they're referring to it as a Vodafone Magic (note: in other countries Voda uses 32A Magics).
I think this is a 32B device w/ a 32A radio, which would explain the connection issues.
There was another thread about that radio being a 32A radio but it also works for 32B devices. He probably would be better off with another radio, but according to that thread it should still work.
EDIT: Here we go.
Sent from my HTC Magic using Tapatalk
Ok - i tried to flash a new radio (2.22.23.02). I think ive bricked my phone as i cant go into fastboot anymore or recovery. it just sits on the HTC Magic screen
EDIT: is the only way out of this with jtag
Checking his ip address shows that he's from the UK which would make it a 32A device. His SPL said in the first post Eng S-OFF which means that he possibly flashed the wrong SPL but still had the correct radio. But this was possibly done during the rooting process because his phone didn't brick but he still experienced issues. I think that in this case the correct method would to have been to figure out what the right spl would have been (probably just use stock to be safe) and just flashed that. But now that he tried to use a 32B radio it sounds like he just finished bricking it.

Sounds about right, however the *only* carrier in the UK that sells the Magic is Vodafone, they use 32B devices (hence google branding and not HTC, lack of 3.5mm jack).
It was defiantly a 32B to start with and i am from the uk. I flashed an engineering sappimg as that was what was recomended to escape the perfected spl. Can u tell me if this is fully bricked?
I can get £30 at a mobile recycling site, will that be the best way out as i have none of the stuff needed for jtag (and it looks pretty hard).
