new official ROM v.1.72.207.0 [O2 Germany] - HD2 General

Hi,
today i've found a new official ROM v.1.72.207.0 provided by O2 Germany, it's brandnew!!
Peace, Andi

Link: http://www.o2online.de/nw/support/downloads/software/xda/htchd2/htc-hd-2.html
Changelog:
Digital image enhancement: removing the "Red Shadow" for Photos
Improving the SMS functions
Correct display of SIM contacts, in addition to the telephone calls, and Exchange Server contacts
Determine the correct amount of free space on a memory card and an improvement of support for certain memory sizes
Extended functionality of the Calendar application

Eh,with the amount of bugs and freezes this phone has, this rom update seems quite lacking.

so is this coming out in an english rom? and would it even be worth upgrading as it doesnt seem to do a lot...??

Would expect anything more from O2? For all the time i have had my o2 Orbit the ROM updates for that device were pathetic at best.

I'm afraid I found the first bug in this new ROM
After flashing the device my Java app (DB RailNavigator) is unable to go online. Of course I tried several things like restoring the orginal files from backup or re-installing the app from the web.
Ant the network and security setting of the java vm are also ok.
When I tap some online-function within the app it even does not come the point where the java runtime asks for permission to enable online access.
it simply locks up.
Has anyone else here tried to use online-aware java app with this new ROM from O2?

For me this rom really fixed problems.
For example the appointment bug is solved and the pink flicker or dot in the camera seems to be solved too. the cam now really takes decent pics.
I will stay with this rom as it just fulfils my needs - i only need that damn ereader tab get to work...

I hope it is!

Today I installed JavaFX Mobile 1.2 from the SUN website. Now DB RailNavigator works again online and NEW! can access GPS via location API.
So to me it strongly seems that with the new O2 ROM something changed to the standard Java VM.
BTW: HTC support told me to ask for a new version of DB RailNavigator, but
how could DB know what is the problem???

Perhaps a stupid question: why should I upgrade?!

Hi,
now this may sound really stupid to most of you since you are all very eager to have the newest ROM on your XDA's, but I don't really get it. My O2-XDA was always working fine, and when I read some topics here, I got the idea that I was missing something.
So I upgraded my device to radio 4.21 and ROM 3.17.03 but I don't notice any difference. Also, no programs have been added (except for the wireless modem application), and the ROM still comes with useless stuff like the Action Engine, which is useless since O2 Netherland is taken over by Telfort and it doesn't support it anymore. O2 England has a newer ROM version to offer, I might try that, but...
Why would I?
I have read countless topics on upgrading, also on upgrading the XDA to WM2003, but why? It's always "it works great!!!" or "I can't get it to work!!!" but the real difference (except the feeling of having the newest ROM in your device) is never explained.
So, someone, tell me what I'm missing here?
programs made for wm2003 dont always work on ppc2002
like voicecommand from ms
this is likely to become a bigger and bigger problem as time goes by
I agree with you on there is no BIG motive for upgrade. The only noticed differences are:
1. SMS better handling
2. GPRS "Always on" feature, but it's not that fancy except if you keep MSN messenger on (who does this ??!! ).
3. MIDI files for ring tones (never worked for me tho  )

That's true, but if you don't need these s/w you shouldn't sacrifice the stability. However, will this amount of experience in this forum it's not that complex any more.
1. SMS better handling
Click to collapse
Can you explain this to me?
Because my XDA already has GPRS always on (and you're right, who does that ).
Chances are I already have the better SMS handling, but didn't notice it? What is the exact difference?
Capt. PV.
I'd probably apply the 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' rule if I were you.
I upgraded my XDA (and recently did a full hardware upgrade to an i-Mate / XDA II) because there were features I wanted (such as wireless modem) for a particular purpose, but I doubt I'd have upgraded if that weren't so.
If you're comfortable with your baby as it is, (and aren't slave to a constant compulsion to pull things apart to figure out why they work) don't mess with it. .
SMS has character count. GPRS always on is very useful when you are actually trying to do something with it. If you want to continue using old software that's fine. Same reason not to upgrade from DOS 6.1. But personally I like getting software and installing it without worrying about whether my O/S is new enough. Some of us just like to experiment too.
We also live in the hope that bugs and nuances will be fixed with each O/S release and service release. If you believe the XDA is without nuances in its original form then you don't use it enough.
If you cannot think of any single reason to upgrade - then don't.
SMS better handling also includes the 4 buttons in the dialog upon recveiving the SMS so you can call/delete/reply immediately instead of opening the Inbox item. This is plus the character count and the auto-name-insert feature after the first 3 letters.
The GPRS always on feature saves the time to get attached, but if this time is less than 3 seconds and usually the s/w is connecting automatically then it's not that issue (at least for me) as I noticed that making/receiving phone calls is faster when GPRS is off (I might be wrong tho ).
I notice you are running the standard O2 setup with the latest rom and radio stack 4.21, if you go to the rom kitchen you can still cook the same rom but you can add a whole bunch of programs to the unused space in your rom area, if you dont mind losing the bloated O2 auto setup and use the developers setup you will have even more free space. These programs are instantly available, use no ram unless running and make the xda a much better pda/phone.

Hi,
Pocket Quake II doesn't run on PPC2002  "due to a bug in the Operating System" so other software may also not work. The second important thing is Media Player 9 installed (with codecs).
do people really play quake 1 and 2 and other fps on their pda's ?
or is it just to impress people ?
because i've messed around a bit with quake1 and feel like a handicap'd zombie trying to gain any kind of control over the game
compared to how i can do it on a normal pc
imho then the controls of pda's dont mix with fps that well
the whole aiming thing require one to use the pen and i just cant do that fast or precise enough for gaming

Free T9 like dialer Program

03/09/2004
ExtendedPhone has gone Cemercial.
You can download a trial version from the leading PPC software sites.
There is still an old free version on page 4 in this thread but keep in mind that this is an old version and there and will be are many improovements in the comercial one.
I have developed a T9 like dialer using .NETCF.
(That means you need Pocket 2003 ,or Pocket 2002 with .NETCF SDF installed)
The dialer works very nicely on my device.
I plan to extend the features but first i need some feedback from you people.
They both work fine on my SX56. (May be the XDA II needs the ARMV4.)
If you have other processors i'll upload the appropriate files by request.
Any feedback or suggestion is welcome.
P.S For now it works only on Latin Alphabet
Anyone?
Whats the matter people .
No one is coming in here.
May be this is not the right forum to release a new software?
I'm interested, but was waiting for someone else to try it first! (You could be anybody releasing a virus or something )
Have you mapped the green 'Answer' button to your program like PhonePlus2 does?
Not yet
The software is still in alpha stage.
I just need some feedback on what i did so far.
(search algorithm, performance bugs etc...)
PhonePlus2 is a commercial software and has been around for a while.
I don't have the time to work full time so go easy on me.
i installed it & it says could not read service provider, getservice bla bla, so looks like its not made for us, what could be the prob;em?
Xda I
Rom: 4.05
Radio 4.01
wm 2003
Tried it on my SPV M1000, WM 2003, ROM 1.72.
Works, but, as you said, it's definitely in its alpha phase. Here are my initial thoughts:
- not very responsive, slow.
- no possibility to scroll through contacts if more than 3 options are available.
- same very mediocre (I'd say ugly, but it's a matter of taste) design, from the interface to the buttons.
- Operater doesn't show up
- What's with the 'Cool Stuff'?
Anyway, thanks for your efforts. Will definitely stay tuned on the developments.

As for the design I'll support skins later.
If you have more than three contats starting with the same Letter then press another button and if still have more yet another,
I could add another one or two options for contacts but then you could say why 5 , why not more?
Cool stuff is just a logo.
As for the speed i'm trying to optimize and i think this version is a little less slow (you are right Rudegar) but untill the next release of .NET CF the one we have bundled with windows is no match for NATIVE code hence the slow startup.
There is a newer version (1.1BETA) on later post.
its working good you first need to work on the speed then on the interface & would be grate if you link it to the messages since we can use it as a keyboard layout also, sorry i don't have much time to write a full description but i will do that tomorrow
since you are a programmer why don't you develop a sw for sending scheduled sms's, i would defenatly be intrested & make no mistake such sw has never been made for PPC yet so make & sell it
new dialer
looks great but is very slow it would be great if it was faster also could you add on some thing to make it easier to send sms,s when you are busy.
well done keep up the good work

Thanks guys .
I'm working on the speed problem but for now all solutions make the size a lot biger with not much improvement.
As i see there are two problems:
1 Loading time:Loading time is a bit of a problem in .NET (because of it's nature)
I'm trying different techniques but with no significant improvement.
So in the mean time just minimize the program and don't close it.
2 The first letter of the contact:
I'm working on that and i'm geting somewhere.
As for the SMS i'll have to resolve the speed problem first but i'm thinking about it.
Stay tuned
elir,
Found some issue.
- USSD code not supported. E.g. press **21*xxxxxxxxxx# to make call forwarding but it's not support in your software.
- Only 3 slots in the searching result. Maybe I have 10 contacts match the result but fail to show the 4th to 10th
- Unable to enter "+" to dial a IDD call.
Cheers,
Paul
Source code?
Elir, what about releasing this piece of nice work under any open source licence? I'm a developer in .NET for 4 years, so maybe I can help you.
Is it in C# or VB.NET?
Suggestion for faster searching:
What about creating tree from Contacts in memory on the start of program? If my assumption your dialer searches in Contacts directly is right...

I'm working on international and ussd calls but as i said before want to resolve the speed issue first.
As for contacts slots , the whole point for an application like this is dialing one handed when bussy(driving etc...) , so adding slots will not help on that.
The only problem i see with this design is when you have more than three contacts with exactly the same first name.
This can be solved by adding search by last name but again i'm having speed problems as it is.

I don't know yet about open source but i can tell you thats written in c# with a lot of native code (.NET CF lacks all the phone and outlook functions)
Thanks for the suggestion but If i copy the entire phonebook to memory at startup :
It will add another 2 seconds (and i have only 180 contacts) and it is slow as it is.
It will allocate a big chunk of memory and as you probably know we don't have a lot of it.
More than that if you add or change a contact you'll have to restart the program for it to appear.
How about bugs?
Nobody has reported any.
What do you not know about open source?
Or you mean, that you are thinking about releasing final version as commercial software? Com'on man...
In C#? Nice one brother...
Hm... In my QTek 2020 is about 80MB of free memory, so what is problem?
About refresh of tree: Isn't possible to add some event handler on changes at Contacts database?
Bugs will follow very soon...

As far as i know (and i have done some research) that is not possible.
Re-write in in C++ (or even with MFC) for much better speed. .NET sucks ass on a PC let alone a poor ikkle PPC!
New version
Hi all!
New version 1.0.3
Fixes:
1 International dialing
2 Now you can use pound key just for #
3 Less slower (at least in my xda)
Added a module to send SMS .
A little clumsy but .... .
I didn't check the Sms module thoroughly but for some reason it doesn't dial international numbers ( i think is the "+")
PS The sequence of characters can be changed( for now i just went by the abc)
There is a newer version (1.1BETA) on later post.
SMS
I found out that numbers begining with "+" cannot be used to send SMS.
I'll fix this bug tomorrow so wait for the next version.
Any suggestions for my qwerty keyboard are welcome.
Has anyone noticed a speed increase?

Copying Rom & Reloading onto another device

Hi,
I am currently looking into purchasing 750 XDAIIi Devices from o2. (after o2 release the new firmware version hopefully next week to solve the battery problem and release the blackberry client)
However, I will need to configure each device with a set of custom in house applications, and set it up in a certain way.
The easiest way i can think to do this is to get 1 device how i want all of them, then to take a copy of the rom, and to copy that rom to all the other devices.
What utilitys are available to do this? Ive so far found tools to copy the rom from the device, however im stumpted on how to re-flash the rom with the copied version.
any help/sugestions etc greatly welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Noodle.

What you need is SPB Clone great little app but expensive for my uses with you buying so many I guess it would prove affordable
http://microsoft.handango.com/Platf...ype=2&productId=150895&sectionId=0&catalog=1&
More info at the link above or
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/clone/?en
Ah great info there, thanks.
However it says its compatible with the XDA, XDAII and XDAIIs, not the XDAIIi.
Its exactly what im looking for though

I'm sure you will find it does the XDA IIi drop SPB a mail and I guess they will confirm that!
The demo works on the XDAIIi so i think its time to spend some mulleh

This could save me a long long time

Thats good news please tell us all how you found the app a nice little review would be good!
Sure.
I think firstly i will explain the situation i have, then it might make things clearer.
I could possibly have 750 XDAIIi devices, and 750 Bluetooth printers within the next 2-3 months.
This is to be used for a mobile, in house application. I am currently looking for a quick, and easy method to setup all of the devices.
I currently have a mangement solution, using Mobi Control. Its a VERY VERY good piece of software, and the new version is out next week which will offer some SERIOUSLY good features such as device lock down etc.
The issue i have is that the XDAIIi will require a certain config before I install the Mobi Control Client. (certain bluetooth settings and application settings)
So, for my base device, i have installed the Mobi Control client (removed from cradle before it is named by the mobi control server) , and also setup the relavent bluetooth settings etc. I have also tweeked some device settings to help out the battery life, and also changed things like the mappings of the buttons.
Then i used the SPB clone tool. I installed it onto the device and ran it. The wizard is easy, it has about 3 steps. The first step is to choose where you would like to save to. I chose the SD card, however you can also use ro storage.
Then, you can choose to password encrypt your device, and also choose if you want to copy the storage area of the device. Then, is builds your image.
The image takes about 5 mins to build to the SD card. and its done.
Now all you need to do is to drop the SD card into another device, it auto runs the wizard and will build the device EXACTLY the same as the master device. It will prompt you for the current time, as the time of the master device is also in the image.
This is a great solution for me, because all i need to do with each new device, is drop it into a cradle for 2 mins at most. The mobi control server auto names the device with my naming scheme, and then installs and configures our in house applications.
So intsead of it looking likes it going to take me about a month to build all the devices, i might be able to do them in a few days.
Thanks for the recoendation of that application

Questions about o2 active and using XDA Exec - hel please!

OK, im a O2 XDA newbie and just got an o2 exec.
I intend to use it with tom tom 5 eventually but i mainly want to use it to connect to 3g internet and making phone calls of course!
I have a couple of questions.
1) By removing the o2 active/o2 software what is the advantage? I understand it makes it run a little quicker but by how much? Will it make connecting to o2 3G / GPRS more complex as I like the simplicity at the moment.
2) Can i rempove the o2 stuff wiothout flashing as I already have a lot of emails/data that i dont want to lose on my device
3) If I do have to flash, what will I miss from the o2 software?
4) How can I change ringtones to my own MP3s etc and is it possible to assign different ring tones to different callers or groups of callers.
5) Is there any better wifi software. At the moment I find it a little tricky to swap from one wifi network to the other without turning wifi on and off and going through a lot of menus.
6) Do I need to uninstall 02 stuff to get Tom Tom 5 to work.
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers,
Roger
Anyone able to help on any of my questions? Please!
Roger
Hi,
I saw your post and decided to sign upto this forum.
i also have an XDA Exec and getting rid of the o2 menu bar doesnt realy do much at all, for starters the o2 menu bar is annoying and messy.
I have managed to unlock my fone but have only tested it with an Vodafone sim so far, leave your email and i can email you the file and instructions.
to add your own mp3 ringtones just put your mp3's on your memory card but not in a folder and to add an mp3 message tone copy the mp3 to the windows folder.
anyother questions feel free to ask.
Removing the O2 active software greatly improved the speed of my Exec. I didnt use it so I dont miss it at all, the unit is still very easy to use without it.
To remove the O2 software, you dont need to flash, jut goto start-> programs-> Install Type, and select basic, voila!
As for TomTom, I believe you need the 5.1 update - I havent tried installing TomTom yet, but it is in my todo list ;-)
Allan
If you select o2 active basic set up, it is not uninstalling it. Search the forums for the corp code, that kills it off I believe, that is what i am using and i prviously had basic on, and its now even faster!
Also - you will need to remove a file from the windows startup folder to do with o2 software, forgotten what is is killed, just hunt about..
If you uninstall the O2 software and you only use O2 e-mail, will this mean you can no longer access it using the xda? This may sound like an incredibly stupid question to those of you who are experts, but please bear with me, this phone is a very new thing for me, and I'm not keen on tinkering with the setup if I don't know what the possible outcome may be. I haven't been able to get my xda to sync to Outlook on my PC either, but I don't use Outlook for my e-mail, so at the moment that's not a major disaster.

I have been going over this forum (have a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30330&highlight=
) and others for quite sometime reg any word on unlocking the xda Exec, with no real result. It is essential for me as I spend much of my time overseas.
So, I would be gratefull if u could send me the data, info and instructions on unlocking the handset.
Oh and i have some foreign SIMs here in London - so I can verify with them, whether the unlocking process can work.
Thanks
My XDA from O2 came unlocked (already tried with a "3" sim) I noticed a huge speed increase by getting rid of the O2 menu bar, I did it by removing (or you could rename) \windows\startup\active.lnk and rebooting, this plus overclocking to 624 MHZ makes it run like a dream. It is so fast E.G it can fully switch from Portrait to landscape in less than 2secs. and it works every time
hard reset it and choose the corporate mode, miles quicker and so much cleaner than the o2 garbage............The codenwhen prompted for corporate mode is 0506
if it aint active syncing, have you got the latest 4.1 update? if so, check your firewall, or come off line and disable your firewall see if that helps, if not, go to microsoft and they have a page to guide you through forewall settings.
hope that helps.
Hi, I'm a Newbie but learning fast,
I have just got the Xda exec, and was really disappointed with the Personal Modes performance so I did the hard reset and used the 0506 code to install corp mode without the o2 gear and now it runs as fast as any Pda i've seen if not faster, the screen refresh rates were much better. but hey! whats a few nano secs between models eh! I think just using the Install Type option doesn't do it properly, so I'd go for a hard reset.
Anyway after hard resetting and installing the corp install, I couldn't really find much that the O2 software actually did! I didn't miss anything. I think the O2 software is one of those type of programs that free memory but actually take up as much as it reclaims, making it useless.
You can run TomTom5 with the O2 software running but to connect to most Bluetooth GPS devices You'll find it advantagous to use the 5.1 update cab files instead of using the TomTom5 cab files. The 5.1 cab update files are actually full install files for the application only, you still need the maps, voices and the essential speed camera poi. I now have the latest TomTom and up and running. excellent program and joanna lumley's voice; well, sat nav heaven.
As for WIFI I could only find this: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=4437 I also found an interesting little program called Hitchiker.
MP3: I've found it better to convert any audio file to WMA, not mp3. wma is better compression and its native to windows. I convert all my music to wma on the computer; I think its clearer and it takes up less space. If you look in the Windows\Rings folder on your xda exec you'll find it has a wma file not an mp3. for ringtones I use the sample files used for ejay especially the sphere sounds.

Windows Mobile 5 and Magician - Why

Since this has always been a "hot topic" on this forum, I have a simple question for all you Magician users.
What are the top 3 reasons you want it / don't want it for Magician.
Here's mine to start you off:
1. I don't want to be left behind
2. New Mobile 5 looks better
3. I want to be able to use charts in Pocket Excel
Let's avoid the WM5 upgrade saga again. We know we won't get an upgrade for Magician. Well, not until May at any rate. (!)
OK - Here's my why not:
1. WM2003SE is stable
2. It already does what I want
3. I can wait till I'm due for an upgrade from my network.
No WM5,
1. 2003 is stable
2. the screen is too small for specials
3. I can wait for a new provider offer (WM5 should be stable by then)
Why not WM5:
1. It's a lot slower, especially at starting programs
2. Not all software is yet WM5 compatible.
3. You have to buy the latest versions of many of your software to have it WM5 compatible. Most updates are not for free.
4. The Magician just doesn't have enough ROM to run WM5 properly
I can't think of any compelling reasons to switch to WM5 that are of a positive significance (btw, I can't count to 3):
-CF 2 works on both.
-Security signing is a pain in the bottom.
-It's slower.
-Ok it has some useful networking functions, but it loses wifi Activesyncing. WTF? Not to mention ActiveSync.
-WM5 interface, perhaps the most potentially useful idea with the softkeys, but inconsistent execution. And I have some ideas about bringing some of the benefits to Wm2003.
-I have the Magician and the Universal. I was just telling my better half about the Universal users' experience with dropping phone calls being able to answer. It's a beautiful device, but once again, what were they on?
Ok, too many others, I'm starting to http://www.ladyofthecake.com/mel/space/images/alien.jpg]sweat and convulse[/url]. Better stop for now.
V
With a device like the Magician where the size is more phone-ish than pda-ish, I'd be inclined to say that most people use it primarily is a mobile phone with the additional functionality of a PDA, MP3 player, etc.
I upgraded to the HTC Prophet just because I want to have the latest. But now that I had it for over 2 to 3 weeks I can say that I would never switch back to WM2003. Single-handed operation with WM5 is very easy, intuitive and practical to say the least.
And when the battery is really low, like less than 30%, I feel safer listenening to the last few MP3s, knowing that I will not lose anything when the battery goes flat.
With regards to performance, I find it suprising how people find loading prorams on Wm5 noticeably slower than WM2003. I was using my old magician yesterday and the performance is just about the same. Th onlt thing I found slower on WM5 is changing the SIP.
Plus, WM5 can do without 3rd party programs like Caller Id, Photo Contacts, etc. cause they are all integrated with the OS. For example, there were times when a picture that I assign to a contact won't show up during a call with the Magician. This never happened to me since I started using WM5. And since contact pictures are synchronised with Outlook I don't need to re-assign them again after a hard-reset.
Finally regarding stability, yes there is software that is not compatible with WM5 yet, but most of the best software is already compatible. I'm using the following software and never had to reset my PPC:
SPB Diary
Resco File Exporer 5
psShutXp
Hitchhiker
MDict
TKCreator
MS Voice Command
and a couple of games
Personally, I think it's quite a stable platform. The only thing that annoys me is that sometimes Wm5 (or the Prophet) loses the storage card after being on standby, and the media stored on it is not always immediately available. You'd have to wait those 3 sec sometimes. But this will hopefully be fixed in the next ROM update. If not, I'm still happy with the overall package
Just my 2cents!
Meh.
Hokay. Regarding WM5... I have never come across an OS that actually requires a file that YOU OWN signed by an EXTERNAL AUTHORITY instead of yourself, and that purposefully ignoring this warning to install said files doesn't necessarily mean it won't be blocked when you try to run it (goodbye backward compat). I thought this technology was strictly for web only.
Stick to WM2003, at least it has the decency to trust its own owner. -.-'

I dont understand - what situation is this coming up?
Well, I have some games on my O2 Xda mini. I tried transferring them to my sister's new Atom.
Message I got from installing was the generic 'this program is not signed by a trusted source'. I ignored it and installed anyway.
But when I tried to run it, guess what? 'Program cannot be run because it is either not signed with a trusted certificate or some files are missing. Please reinstall...'. This was from an installer works perfectly on my Mini.
Did some research, Win Mobile 5.0 will also generate this error when you attempt to execute something with a DOS parameter at the back. It also blocks stuff that do not require installation; Scummvm 8.0 was halted with the same error message. I know the latest Windows OS's have File Execution Prevention but it was never as anal and obnoxious as to go 'I do not want to let it run. So there. Nyah.'
Seeking the Caller ID (Photo Contacts)

When I was using the I-Mate Jam (Magician) I really liked the "Photo Contacts" program they had, which was actually "Caller ID 1.6" allegedly from IA Styles of late. But it cannot seem to be found anywhere. I have looked from freeware sites to pirate sites and cannot find it. I downloaded and used "Photo Contacts 4.1" for a pretty penny, but it did not allow for animated .gif contact images. I REALLY liked that. Does anyone know where this program can be found? Can any of you remove and distribute it from your phone or from a ROM?

Why don't you download it from the xdadevs FTP server? There are the ExtRoms for Magician with the cab files.
But be careful, you seem to run a WM5 device, it might not run (and force you to hard reset)
Actually WM6
In reality I have upgraded my system to WM6 Pro now and I will let you all know how loading this cab on my Hermes does with WM6. I loved this program when it was running on my Magician (which I gave away to my friend/biz partner) and have tried Photo Contacts Pro 4.yada.yada, and was not happy with THAT. Even got a refund.
Thanks a bunch Dude
Only took a minute
I found it right where you said I would and downloaded it and installed it and soft reset and . . . when I tried to asign a photo it got a headache and gave me a message about being unable to use the program for somereason.
I unistalled it from the system and did another soft reset and while I don't have menu access to assign photos, I can open the edit screen on a contact and assign a photo there.
Maybe I should reload the program again and try accessing it from the Edit screen too? We shall see.
Otherwise, I think I shall attempt installing it on my wife's Blue Angel.

We know we won't get an upgrade for Magician. Well, not until May at any rate. (!)

what makes you think we will get an upgrade then ???
sorry n00b magician owner here only had it for a week
any tips?
Greatest 'Photo Contacts' ever
I installed the photo contacts on my wifes Blue Angel - WM2003 - and it was excellent - I only wish someone could make the same program work on my Hermes with WM6. It has the unique ability to use animated .gif images and I LOVE THAT!!!
If anyone could pull this one off I would be overjoyed. I have attached the version with which I am familiar. And if you can't make it work for WM6 - or WM5 - it already works on WM2003 really well. I have loaded it on a couple of Wallabies, a Magician with a new ROM and a Blue Angel - all with great joy in its application.
TIA,
