Where could you buy TomTom 7? I have Navigator 6 installed and can't find a way to buy Nav 7.
ok great thx, for all this aswers
could you please make screenshots of your navigation software?
how does it look on a 800x480 screen? resized, black bar, skewed, small icons.. ?
thanks.
There will be a Co-Pilot specific version coming out - http://blog.copilotlive.net/?p=208
I presume v7 works fine, but just doesn't make the most of the resolution.
Guys,
If you have a Navigation program 'successfully' working on your machine could you post it at the topic 'Programs/Utilites & Games ~ working on the Touch HD' here~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442663
Thanks.

How did you get the software up and running?
Whenever I try to start the program (installation works fine), it crashes after the starting screen saying the specific resolution can't be loaded/found.
Have you changed the sys.txt in any way?
Where did you get you version from.
Did you try the skin supporting 800x480 resolution?

TomTom Navigator 6 working on HD
Is it possible that someone can check if TomTom 6 Navigator is working on Touch HD because i want to use this application that i already have.
It wil make my choice very easy then!
Thanks
Why would HTC make a phone that, on the face of it, seems to have a lot of programs that just won't work, particularly my (ancient) TomTom6. And what about TCMP ? How would I run my videos ? I'm after one as well, but am now a little nervous that it may be false economy.
i cant get TomTom 6 to work. could be something that i am doing, anyone else having this problem?

Me too. I got my Touch HD this morning and tomtom 6 won't even start up. I think part of it is because of the screen resolution of the Touch HD
Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20wp works fine (have only tried SA March 2008 mapset). So far no obvious problems experienced though I have not extensively tested everything.
I also loaded MobiTrak's HandyMAP Pro PPC V5.2 (Build 1129) with SA and USA maps. The program Handymap2.exe fails when switching maps, and once a map is opened it won't open again (file not found error). A soft reset does not fix this problem.
I tried installed 3 different versions of TomTom 6.01 & 6.03 (I'm licensed) v7.XX (out of desperation I wanted to see if I could get any version running)
Version 6 gives memory access violation.
I sometimes get the TomTom opening in triple tiny view at the top of the screen.
I can't install v7 it says this version is not suitable for this device.
I've spent hours on this and I just can't get it to work. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Can anyone that managed to get TomTom working, tell me how?
Many thanks,

Hi,
Many thanks for trying to help but I've already seen this post and unfortunately it doesn't help. I tried to install the same version 7 but it says something like device not compatible and the earliest version of 6 that I have been able to find was 6.01.
I've spent many hours on the this problem, I've already searched here and all over the web. It looks to me like only a few people have been lucky to get it working.
If I don't get Tomtom working soon then I'll be sending the Touch HD back. I would appreciate any suggestions. I don't know if it's possibly an issue about missing dlls.
Thanks,
ok thats strange, but i cant help you anymore because i dont have any Touch HD.
But i hope for you that someone will help you.

The problem is that Tom Tom6 maps won't work on Tom Tom7. If you have a world wide collection of maps like me, it's going to cost a fortune to buy all new maps.
Has anyone figured out a way to get Tom Tom 6.03 working on the HD? Surely it is a matter of tweaking??
Edit: It's not a matter of Tweaking. I found a 7.450.9028 cab in my archives from another one of my devices. I was surprised to find that this version WILL work with TomTom 6.75 maps but not lower. Fortunately all of my maps were 6.75 so I'm good to go The only thing/problem is the text and keyboard are small.
I've managed to find an old cab file for 6.00 and it worked straight away! It has all my previous maps and POI from the memory card working fine. I can live with using 6.00 instead of 6.30 so long as it's stable/reliable.
Cheers,
Hi Matterhorn!
I hope to be trying this later today. What steps did you take to try to install Tom Tom 6.03 ? I have this from my TyTn II CD and updated my maps a few months ago.
I have Tom Tom home installed on my PC and was hoping to get Tom Tom home to see the Touch HD as a new device and install to it.
I will post here what I find happens with my attempts.

TOMTOM 7
I own realy a Touch Hd. For 3 days now.I've installed Tomtom 7,450 VGA.
It works perfectly and with Gsen even horizontal.
I also didn't notice any GPS lag. So what are those people talkinh about.
I suspect that I the only have an HD in their imagination.
I have version 6.010 and i installed it, i hoped for a working install but it doesn't work at all, boot logo from tomtom is showing after that it's crashing like hell, so i founded somewhere a 6.000 CAB file and that's running perfectly on the Touch HD. very strange to me , normaly should newer version have more compatibility solutions.
TomTom 7.450 works on HD
try to find ttn7 with 12.063 MByte. This version works very fine and I'm surpriced about the GPS speed.

Is there any difference is speed when using 2D or 3D maps ? I read somewhere on this forum that someone experienced better speeds ( no lag ) using 2D maps ?!?!
I use Destinator 7 and I am looking to buy HD within a month. I am wondering if anyone can share their experience using Destinator 7 on this device.
Cheers.

A few people are saying that ttn7 works fine for them. It didn't work for me but maybe I just got a duff cab/version. But as licensed (v6) user with lots of maps and a traffic subscription (the subscription would probably be ok but maps definitely not) I prefer to stick with version 6 for now. Tomtom looks great on the big screen and is quick smooth and reliable so I'm happy. Done some short runs with gsen and all seems good there too.

I have also a HD - bought also in Belgium- and it works perfectly, no lag and time to fix is about 20 seconds.
My only concern is ( see:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=443782)

I use Nav4All, works perfect and is free..
First a thank you for all the support I found here. Tried to install TomTom 7 on the X1 (legit) with ttn7.cab and TT..repack3, none worked. It starts to install but on the end it shows "unsuccessful". You can open TT, even download also "unsuccessful" a free map, what I do not need. The maps I have are all from TT6, but none is recognzed by TT7. Calling TT does not help they do not support TT7. TT home 2.5 does not see the X1. SE has no idea. I also talked to Navigon in Europe but there is yet not a WM 6.1 compatible version available. Just want my navigation back and working. Can anyone direct me to get it done?
are you using a qvga or vga version of the cab file? i have tomtom7 installed very easy on my x1 and works perfect
also tt7 doesnt support tt6 maps as far as im aware, but tt7 maps everything installed really easy on wm6.1
if you need more help let me know
is it a new purchase? have you had it on a phone before?

Don't mean to hijack your thread but.....
I would like to purchase the UK & Western Europe maps but not certain which ones to buy (Tom Tom site does not list X1) also I cannot get TT Home to recognize the X1 so not sure if I can install the maps even if got them.
Anyone done this yet?
I bought mine for cruise/diamond and it works fine
Thanks - how did you install it? Was it via TT Home or just download from tomtom.com to PC and manually transfer?
Thanks
1) Use the old TT Home version - 1.5 - this will work !
2) TT 7 works with 6.75 maps - earlier versions not !
Thanks Peter.
I have tried to find TT 1.5 but no luck so far. Any ideas?
Just Google TomTom 1.5 and you will find it - if not leave me a message and I email you the file
Hi Peter, will try what you say to get it done. I used TomTom before on my Ipaq. I must change the "device" in TomTom Home- how? Where can I find on my maps which version they are, they are paid and downloaded. Which version of TT7 are you using? Would be greatif you could help out, thanks anyway
Hello,
Since a week or two I am the proud owner of the HTC Touch Cruise II. I was trying to 'fix' TomTom to make it cappable of using 'free' maps on the internet (With help of the EasyUseTool). The preinstalled TomTom didnt allow this so I used another version I found on the internet (uninstall the old and install the new). I got TomTom working with Western and Central europe map but then NaviPanel didnt load TomTom anymore. So I edited the registry to make it connected to TomTom again (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3519228). But when I push Navigator now it will freeze with the turing windows thingy. Anyone got a solution?
summary:
HTC Touch Cruise II
TomTom 7.915.9169
Preinstalled TomTom deleted replaced for other TomTom. NaviPanel links do not work anymore. Fix with register -> freeze.
Thanks in advance!
Hey hey,
anyone got an answer on my question? I searched all over the internet. Thanks in advance.
Grtz,
Roben
The NaviPanel works only with the branded (original) TomTom, with PaPaGo, with CoPilot and NaviTel. Other solutions of navsoft not works with NaviPanel. I think, your installed TomTom is different from the original branded TomTom, so will NaviPanel hangs up.
Solution:
Unlock the hardware Buttons (looks here) and set up the navigation-button with your version of TomTom.
Greetz Mirko
Hey,
Thanks for trying to help but it is not that my hardware buttons don't work. I can perfectly start TomTom by pushing the navigation button (above the green horn). It is just that NaviPanel does not work completly. Before I was able to push "To home" (naar huis), "Adress" (adres), "Recent location" (recente bestemming) and "Navigation" navigatie. When I use one of those buttons now it will be stuck with the turning windows logo (after I did the reg key edit, before it didnt do anything at all).
In order words, all the navigation buttons of the NaviPanel do not work. The rest does.
Thanks in advance!
You have 4 dll-files in the "Windos" - directory.
(NaviSWMiddle_CoPilot.dll
NaviSWMiddle_NaviTel.dll
NaviSWMiddle_PaPaGo.dll
NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll)
These 4 dll-files makes the start of the navisoft in navipanel. Isn´t a link, its the dll. NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll - in this time - works only with the original branded TomTom.
In registry you can set up four other Navsoft:
CoPilot
NaviTel
PaPaGo
TomTom
(all original branded)
Greetings Mirko
So it is actually waiting for a guru who can edit the .dll? I tried to open the dll with a reshacker but I wasnt able to (I didnt try real hard). Is anyone able to make this compatible?
Grtz

is the path, the entry is "middlelayerDLL"

Hi Mirko,
Thanks, I think you missuderstand my question, actually i am trying to add button 2 in
HKLM\software\shell\key. I add in a name there and string. I manage to delete the string but just cant manage to delete the name key.
I follow the other post to disable papago as default navigator in NaviSW. and bmomail ask to allocate button 2 to set as garmin xt. Problem start from there. Hope this is give you better picture.
Garmin XT isn´t able to set it on the NavPanel, because isn´t a dll for garmin on the Iolite. You need a specific dll like NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll for this. The dll is not editable with ressource editors.
The key, you will delete, try this with SK-Tools, this tool can delete entire regkeys. I hope, i has understand you now right.
Greetings!
Thanks for explanation. Does this mean if i am not using the papago, the navipanel hardware button will be useless for me?

Yes, it is, the dll´s are only useable for the branded OEM-versions.

So today I thought lets call HTC them self hoping they have got a solution. I called the service centre europe in the Netherlands. I explained that the phone freezes when starting up TomTom through navipanel. The guy was really trying to help but he had advices like "hard-reset the phone" and "install the original version". He also said that HTC worked together with company's like TomTom to test which PocketPC version is the best for the HTC Touch Cruise 09'. It does sound a bit like a cartel, doesn't it? You cant even choose your own navigation software because the phone doesn't support it. Actually it does support just a feature (=NaviPanel, the reason I bought the phone) doesn't. He advices to contact TomTom because HTC is not going to do anything about it. With other words... I am screwed untill some bright guy would like to do a favour for a lot of people ^^.
Hey Guys,
I have a problem wit the combination SlideIT and TomTom.
I have installed TT on my SD card and installed the autorotate.cab for TT.
When I run TT and put it in landscape the SlideIT keyboard shows up and I can not get away anymore...
Any Solutions??
Don't think this issue is related to Tom Tom at all. I had the trial version of SlideIT installed on my X1.
When ever I slid open the keyboard, the screen rotated I had the same problem with SlideIT opening up. If I closed SlideIT, then it opened up again when I slide the keyboad back.
Didn't find any solution to the problem.

Not directly; but I have TT Nav. 6 working on the HD2 and I used BsB Tweaks to enable landscape mode by tilting the device. It works perfectly.
