Localized hardware keyboard for b7610 not working - Omnia II General

My norwegian (or rather swedish) key's are not working correctly. They do not output æøå, but if I press the "alt" key they work fine. (ie return, "," and "?")
Anyone have any idea how I can get them to work?

I saw a unit the other week with the same problem. I ended up not buying and got the i8000 instead despite really liking the b7610 as the store owner claimed he'd talked to Samsung who according to him were working on a solution. I would assume a Swedish b7610 rom should have the keyboard working. Otherwise, why put out a hardware keyboard that doesn't work. However due to the store keepers answer I became uncertain and opted out.
Which ROM are you running?

I'm running the same rom that it came installed with, it reports windows mobile 6.5 and CE OS 5.2.21686.
Not sure what other ROM information i can give.

Hmm. I'm uncertain. Afaik the ROM should contain the Swedish mapped keys. As I said according to the salesman Samsung are having trouble with the 7610. I would suggest the following:
Contact either the point of purchase or Samsung directly and report a faulty unit. It's their obligation to ensure it works properly. If not, demand a refund.
The magazine Mobil in their latest edition tested keyboard phones. The B7610 went up against the HTC TPII, Nokia N900 and many other powerful phones, and it received the highest score. Why don't you contact them and ask what ROM their unit was running - as apparently their keyboard must have been working for it to win the test. You could also report your problem to them. If they publish news like this, Samsung may react and rectify the situation.

TTHome with Touch HD, and other PPC SatNavs

Hi All
Has anyone managed to get TT Home 2.3/2.4 working with their TouchHD?
I couldn't get them to see my TouchHD so I went back to TTH1.5 that came with my TTN 6.03. This found my TouchHD no probs and went through the process of updating my TT account with my new device code - job's a goodun' I thought. NOT(!), it seems. I tried Traffic the next day and got error code 1506. Being a recognised problem apparently, I called TomTom about it and without asking what my device was told me my device code didn't match with the one linked to my account. Hmm, I thought, I went home that night and sure enough TTH1.5 reported that my TouchHD device code didn't match with the one linked to my account. However as TTH1.5 had linked my new device code to my TT account the previous day I'm now told I can't do it again for another 6 months! The device code hasn't changed because I wrote it down when I installed TTN.
I have had a bad experience (in fact a few of them) with TomTom in the past when trying to use their (legitimately bought) software on a "non-supported" device. Their attitude has actually been down right vindictive. Last time around I had to sign a legal document from them allowing them to lock my purchased map to my device permanently so I couldn't take it with me even if I bought a supported phone. Surely it's my decision, knowing that my device isn't supported, to use my purchased software on it knowing that it may not be 100% compatible but still offers the functionality I need? If I have a problem all they have to say is, "Is not a supported device".
As it is I'm testing TTN7 with my demo map and it works beautifully. I want to spend money with TomTom for a full map but I will not spend a penny with a company who insist on behaving like a***holes.
...better stop there as I'm danger of going off on a big rant (again).
Is any SatNav software manufacturer prepared to support the TouchHD in the UK?
I quite like the look of iGo8 but again it's "not supported" and only comes on a 2GB card - I've already got >3GB of music on my TouchHD which I listen to daily and use TomTom (for Traffic) on my journeys morning and evening. I'm really missing Traffic right now and have felt the pain a couple of nights this week already. Swapping the card morning and evening would be a right PITA and I'm sure the battery cover clips on the phone would suffer quite quickly.
Do Navngo behave similarly to TomTom when it comes to "non-supported" devices?
Can anyone offer any advice?

Kaiser (Vario III) software on Rhodium

When I bought my T-Mobile branded Kaiser the Vario III it came with a CD with a couple of apps on it.
I've tried to install one of the apps, GPRS monitor, on my Rhodium but it I get a message saying I've got the wrong ROM. I figure its coded to only work on the Kaiser but I also figure I bought it, my software & I should be able to use it on any subsequent device I own.
Any suggestions about how I can get it installed on my Rhodium?
Thanks
I don't think it works like that. You didn't buy the software, it was provided to you free of charge because you bought a Kaiser and HTC must have done a deal with SPB to get the GPRS software on those devices.
They haven't done that deal with the Touch Pro 2 so you shouldn't be able to use it.
It's been locked to the Kaiser for licensing reasons.
That being said, I'm sure there is a work around
But the way I see it the work around would be as illegal as downloading the software so you may aswell save yourself the hassle and do that if that's your bag.
Please don't flame me, this is just my opinion and could be complete bs

Please help! Did HP send me a prototype 910c or the final product?

The other day I received a replacement iPAQ 910c from HP. While I still had the old iPAQ I thought that I would compare the HP Asset Viewer in both to see if everything was the same. The replacement has something weird that I have search the web for two days and can't find anything to tell me exactly what it means. I was hoping that someone here could help explain to me if this is a good or bad thing. I think I received a prototype iPAQ because when viewing the info and comparing I found the following difference.
Product Revision Level : EVT3 (replacement iPAQ)
Product Revision Level : 1 (old iPAQ)
Extended ROM tab is NOT present in HP Asset Viewer (replacement iPAQ)
Extended ROM tab IS present in HP Asset Viewer (old iPAQ)
Model ID : HP iPAQ 910c Business Messenger (replacement)
Model ID : HP iPAQ 910c Comm Business Messenger (old)
Also the other things that I noticed that were not in the HP Asset Viewer but in the way the iPAQ started up for the first time out of the box:
Booting up my replacement iPAQ the boot screen is blue in design(& every soft reset after),
A white screen is with all the other iPAQ's that I had.
After completing the first time setup, all other iPAQ's tell me, UPDATE COMPLETE....PLEASE RESTART.
The replacement that I received the other day did not update nor did it ask me to restart.
It also took me several tries to get the iPAQ to recognize my sim card and receive a signal.
I'm really curious why the difference and what it means, could someone with experience please explain.
I think HP sent me a prototype instead of the final version.
Thanking you in advance for your help and time.

I think it is normal that there will be running production change to integrate various fixes into the ROM(your replacement) instead of putting them into extended ROM. (i.e fixes to old ipaq). There can be various reason why hp did not issue a whole rom upgrade to older version and instead use hp update to install cab from extended rom. (e.g late changes that does not permitt them to rebuild a new rom so push a cab update and store it into extended ROM instead). Stuff in extended rom will not be erased by clean boot so the updated will be installed whenever the device is hard reset

[Q] Changing ROM of a China Phone

Hey,
I've got an MF68 / IP800 (It got so many names that I prefer to call it "Horza", sounds pro - There will be a picture of it on the bottom of this post) and it came with a Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional - CE 5.2.23090 (Comp. 23090.5.3.0) - Yup, it ain't a rip-off windows. It's a rather good phone, with a slow-but-does-whatever-I-throw-at-it processor "HUAWEI HiSilicon K3", running at 360MHz (I've seen versions running at 460, if anyone knows how to overclock it, it would be welcome), 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM; all those controlled by a 240x400 3" resistive screen. Not a lamborghini but does the job well done.
Anyhoo, I want to change the ROM. Somehow it limits my volume to 63%. It might be good for my ears, but it's a real pain when I connect it to an external speaker. Also, there's a few ROM's possessing some sleek features that I'd love to use. But there's three problems:
1 - It's a dual-SIM phone (the actual ROM seems to be adapted, or something, for this - due to the poor, china-style, translation in the Dual-SIM Setup area)
2 - It's a china phone, thus I don't know what I'm supposed to do or if it's able to
3 - I only have the original USB Cable. Will it work or I need some sort of special cable?
So, what should I do? Will it be able to update? Which programs should I get?
Thanks for the attention and I'm awaiting for an answer
Sincerely,
GTMoraes
well if you say that its a legit windows mobile device then you should be able to have themes for it however, some things like hardware issues are going to get in your way.
1. Dual-SIM
2. Screen Resolution (not anytheme will work)
3. Thats all i can think of...
4. Will think of other stuff and come back to you
Yup, I can use some themes for my WM, I've got tired of the Titanium style and ATM I'm using the SPB Shell, works like a charm.
The actual O.S. works fine, but it's limiting the volume to 63% (according to 40iPlay and proved through external speakers). I've googled around and it looks like an European or something limitation, removeable only with a new ROM - so here am I.
Is there any program that I should run to see if my phone is compatible with ROM updating?
Thanks for you answer and I'm awaiting for new ones
P.S.: Anything related to the Samsung i900 works flawlessly on the Horza. So does the HTC gSensor
I have a China LEO 8585 and have yet to find a custom rom myself.. sorry bud.

Bluetooth Keyboard

hey guys,
is there a way to pair a bluetoothkeyboard with the defy? And is there a cable to pair the defy with a tv?
Mfg.Homer
As for the cable to TV, I don't think so.
But wouldn't any Bluetooth keyboard just pair with the Defy, or is that dependent on some profile that is not present on the Defy? I.e. do you own a keyboard and can't make it work, or do you just want to know if it would work?
There is a keyboard from "HAMA" which works...but you need any add-on...
keyboards
Tried a chinese bluetooth kb ... driver didn´t work.
3rd party drivers did somehow, but have been a pain in the ass in daily use.
Hardware keyboard which would be best in thinking of energy doesn´t because of missing USB Host.
Still: Defy ist the best phone I ever had ... but the road is loohooong ...
A quick Google search suggests there are enough keyboards to choose from. Just check if there is an Android driver and you should be fine.
Don't really get why one would want a keyboard though. It kind of undoes the portability and it seems a hassle to use. Don't get me wrong: I loved the keyboard on my old HTC Wizard. But that one was integrated in the phone which might be a better option for you as well!

- because you need some sort of time machine to get another waterproof mobile with a querty keyboard.
I would have liked a micro one for a adventure trip to proper blog and chat - the phones are nearly usable for that.
It works with Froyo !
Sorry for such a late post. Anyway, I bought this cheap BT keyboard some time ago. Whilst running the stock Eclair ROM, I had to use 3rd party applications to handle it, but never without lots of issues. I had bought it for test purposes, since Android was not listed as a supported platform. But after I flashed Froyo (in my case, the 3.4.3-11 UK ROM), the keyboard just works as it should. After it was paired (the digit sequence specified on the phone - I chose the widely known 0000 - must be entered in the BT keyboard, followed by <Enter>), I just turn the keyboard on (with the Defy's BT radio also turned on, of course) and press any key. The bluetooth link is immediately established, and I'm able enter data to any applications through it.
Just my 2 cents...
Regards,
Carlos
good news
thanks4info.
I will jump on the CM7 train as soon as (a)gps is ok and will try there.
Still hoping to get usb host running, as other projects successfully activated it per software. Will post results after playing around with CM7.

Wow! For a long time, there was no posts at all in this thread. Ok, back to business. You see, I'm running CM10 too. In fact, due to some issues, I'm still on Quarx 11/17 build. Anyway, until I saw your post, my keyboard was forgotten in a drawer. I took it off, turned it on, pressed a key, and, although it was already paired with the phone, an entry in the status bar came up, which, upon being tapped, asked me to either allow or deny the connection. After a couple of times answering 'Yes', the bluetooth icon, in the status bar, turned blue, and, from that point on, all the text I entered was correctly taken by the phone, without any issues. Have you gone through this phase as well?
EDIT: have just flashed Quarx's CM10.1 05/27 build. Couldn't find a way to make my BT keyboard work with it. Haven't tried his CM10 new buiild, but as they seem to share all the radio (BT, Wifi) parts, it is most probable that it won't work there either. I'm already back to his 11/17 build.
there's some keybords that works, but it depends on the ROM too.
I had a chinese one, and it was a lot better to type than the touch keyboard, but, for me it wasn't very useful because I was unable to use some accents, and I usualy type in Portuguese.
