Hello, I have a HTC Magic from Rogers here in Canada, it's actually the "Magic+" with the updated 911 ROM and I think its running Android 2.1.
I have been downloading and installing many different kinds of apps and widgets that I find online because paid apps and widgets are not accesible through the android market on the phone. One of the ones I found an apk for is "Google Goggles" and it won't install on my phone, a window pops up saying "Application not installed" at the top and then "Goggles could not be installed on this phone." under it Please help me get this app on my phone. Thanks.
Google Goggles requires 1.6. The Rogers "Magic+" is only on 1.5.
Oh ok, thanks for the info.
Settings --> About Phone --> Build Number says 2.17...
Firmware version says 1.5, so does that mean I am only on Android 1.5?
Official Magic only have Android 1.5, yup, firmware is the version of your Android, not build number

Weird, seems like firmware would be some device dependent thing or something.
Android is more the OS, not the firmware...

I bought an AT&T Focus and I've discovered its got an old version of the OS on it. I suspect the phone I bought was a testing/engineering version...
I'd like to update the OS/Firmware/Radio/Whatever else to the newest versions. I saw the ROMS updates for other phones, but not for the focus. How do I update my phone?
From the phone update screen, it shows "no updates found"... is there a way for me to force it to recheck?
Thanks in advance

Post the version(s) you have here and other Focus users could compare.
roms
where did you find other roms, I think the focus is the only wp7 phone without a rom floating around.
You should just return the phone to the place where you boughted if you believe your phone comes with an older OS (highly doubt it). In AT&T stores, demo units often are loaded with a Demo ROM which has a different versions than the stock ones.
WP7 OS updates come directly from Microsoft via Zune software on your PC. The first such promised update has yet to come.
Trying to update Incredible from 2.2 to 2.3. Build 3.26.605.1, baseband 2.15.00.07.28
I started to run the OTA update from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770091 but the baseband version is different. So where do I go from here?
Quick search found this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263269
Also your version numbers are off, 2.3 is 4.06.605.3 baseband 2.15.10.7.7
No, my version numbers aren't off. I currently have 2.2, those version numbers refer to my current build. I'm trying to GET 2.3

The base band is the radio version. The reason it's different is because it comes with the OTA to update it to .07.07.
EDIT: According to the post, "First off, ensure that you have the Stock 2.1 ROM with first OTA, it WILL NOT work otherwise.
software/Build version will read as the following: 1.22.605.2..."
Looks like you need to be at 2.1 to run that update.
Got it working. Rooted Froyo, then loaded the Liberation ROM. Extremely happy with it!!
Thank you for your input guys!
I can't install the latest version or update from the Google Play Store because it says the app is incompatible with my device, and the version on my phone is several generations old from what is currently in the Play Store. Does anyone know how to update to the latest version? I'm stuck with the ugliest skin with the version installed as a system app.

try Google search and type samsung apk
should be the first web link
then find Samsung keyboard the latest date release
Hello, please help me, how is the latest version of Samsung keyboard on the phone
Samsung Galaxy S8 Install Samsung Keyboard 4.9.00.7
Because in the latest version of the Samsung keyboard, it is also possible to translate.
I am using the Hong Kong version unlocked M9+. After reset, I find I can't update the Play Services which causes problem for me to update any critical google apps.
Android version is 5.0.2
Sense version is 7.0
Software Number is 1.84.708.10
I am wondering if I need to reflash from stock rom or is there any other way to get this problem sorted?
Thanks.
I am using the Hong Kong version of HTC One ME Dual SIM, which has the same issue after resetting my phone. Luckily I have two of them so that I can check the latest version of Google Play Service and Google Play Store and download from apkmirror to update it manually. Sorry I am a new registered user so I cannot post the full link from APKMirror for your reference.
This is the version of Google Play Service I used to upgrade my phone after reset:
14-3-66-020408-213742215
This is for Google Play Store, seems it is required to update it after upgrading to Google Play Service. Otherwise the phone is not responding to any Play Store requests in my case.
12-3-19-all-0-pr-218276083
Of course you need to enable Installation of APK from unknown source in your security settings. I am not sure if the same method can apply to your case. I hope this will give you more insights in resolving your issue.

Thank you.
I tried with manual update Play Service, it fails. That's why I am thinking to refresh the ROM with stock one.
But not sure where to download the official ROM.
I am sorry to hear that you are not able to update manually. I also think that the built-in ROM of my phone is buggy, but couldn't find any custom ROM to try.

Anywhere I can find the stock ROM for my HTC bought in HK?
I remember it updated Android version once to 5.0.2. If I can find the original 4.4 version ROM I guess it would still work.

No custom rom so far... I also try to find in some chinese sites but no hope... This is really sad that no one has made any custom rom for this Mediatek device... What si the problem there..I am asking myself.. My old HTC one m7 has plenty custom roms...
Maybe the problem is that there is no CM version for this device.. Google is the problem with no buying this version of the flagship..
I only need the stock factory ROM, not custom ones.

Found a fix for the play services, need to download the play store service apk for version v12.3.30, install then it should be fine for the store part.
The likes of my messaging app is on version 10.20.265 but then on apkmirror theres been updates that i cant install... same as some other appsView attachment 4791250
Same here, think it's because it's a system app and without root we can't sideload. Although I did download Samsung phone from apkmirror today and that installed.
I wonder if they are disabled they would install then re enable?
Edit: Disabled dosent work neither does adb sideload on pc. So it must be because it's system protected and only updated via the Samsung app store.
Why they don't update when a new version is released is annoying though. Mine is 10.0.20. 164 which is 10 versions behind

I just called Samsung regarding the version differences in the system apps, phone, messages and contact.
The reason for the higher version numbers are because these apps have been updated for older phones on different version of software than the S10, these apps have been updated to fix issues.
S10 series 10.0.20.265 is a current upto date stable version and does not require any bug fixes at this stage.
