Odd Wifi bug? - Touch2 General

From time to time, i'm unable to turn on or off WiFi.
At first I thought it must have been because I was connected to my PC with the USB cable, but now its unplugged and it's greyed out in the "on" position. Other times when its greyed out in the off position I've had to go into the settings and activate WLAN manually.
Has anyone else encountered this before?

I got that as well. It worked when i soft reset the phone.

If this happens AFTER you have unplugged from the pc, seems like a freeze of ActiveSync...

Weird Activesync Problem...

This happens when my jade is connected to pc via activesync...
Aftersome time, when there is no data transfer between pc and jade, it gets disconnected automatically
Jade keeps charging and the screen light remains dimmed... Is this normal
In the power settings (start/settings/advanced tab) there is an option for 'on external power'. Check the value for 'turn off device if not used for:' option.
Hi Thanks for reply..
But as i said before the phone doesnt go on standby, screen remains dimmed and the value set is 30 min....
There's something else :S

Can't set DX to "charge only".

So about 2 days ago I threw some songs onto my DX and ever since, it won't let me change usb mode back to charge only. It says it's set to charge only but when I plug it into the pc usb port I can browse as if it were mass storage. This is a problem because I've lost pictures and songs in the past by having it set to this option. It also takes forever to scan the entire 20GBs of storage I have on there after each disconnect making my phone pretty much unusable for an hour. Anyone know where else I can set the USB mode aside from the drop-down?
I had a problem with the phone never being able to be set to Charge Only and I finally figured out what it was.
I had WinAmp installed on my phone and there is an option to auto-mount when USB is connected, this setting takes effect even if the phone is set to Charge Only.
So if you have WinAmp, or another program that does an auto-mount on USB connect, find out which program it is, and un-set the option
Didn't want to make a mess of this issue but I had noticed this since the OTA Froyo update...
i had the same problem but mine was a bad usb cable
So I don't have winamp....and the stupid phone corrupted my entire sd card and froze repeatedly. I used recuva to get everything back and it seems to be working ok. I haven't plugged it into a pc yet.

...also the phone woke me a up a few times during the night with music. I think it's posessed!

[Q] Help! My focus won't recognize that it's connected to a USB

Hi everyone,
Recently, I tried to get my phone to tether using these directions: (can't post the link yet, but these directions are kind of universal)
2-On the phone, go to keypad and dial ##634#, then press the [Call] button.
3- A diagnostic mode screen in gray will show up.
4- Dial *#7284#, and press the [Call] button.
5- A Microsoft USB Test screen will show up which allows configuration of USB Path Control settings (options available is Zune Sync; Modem, Tethered Call; and Modem, USB Diag).
6- Select Modem, Tethered Call.
7- The phone will automatically restart to activate the setting.
8- Connect the phone to PC with a USB cable.
..and so on and so forth
However, when I tried to put it back to the zune/sync, it wouldn't work. I go back to the menu where it gives me the three choices of zune; tethering; and USB modem, and it shows that the phone is on the Zune sync option. However, when I plug in the USB cable into it, the computer doesn't recognize it - there's no charging involved, and the zune software doesn't open.
Additionally, when I try charging it to the plug that came with the package, the phone doesn't recognize that it's connected to that either and it still doesn't charge. Does anyone know what the issue is here?
I've tried multiple times to go back to the Path Control Settings menu and switch it to Zune Sync but nothing is happening to remedy the situation. Any pointers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
A long shot but did you by chance set the Zune software to sync wireless ? You may need to set it to No or turn off wirless Sync.
Settings>Phone>Wireless Sync
Make sure your phone is connected and sign into Zune. Again only a long shot.
I'm 99.9% sure I didn't set it to wireless sync. I turned off the wireless on my phone to conserve battery as well.
Also, in order to check the wireless sync setting I need to connect my phone, which I have, but the computer nor the phone has registered the connection. (No sound made on either end, and the battery charge icon isn't showing)
Thanks though! A long shot is still a shot!
edit: FYI, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with mucking up my phone as it did...
This sounds pretty strange. I have been changing from Modem to Zune back and forth and no problems at all.
I guess a Hard Reset will do the job for you. But I am not completely sure. Good luck.

Do I understand correctly that you cannot charge the phone with the wall charger?
If that's the case, it's probably an issue with your cord or the mini usb port.
Did you make any other changes while in Diagnostic mode? If you're not sure, check out this thread.

Yes, you understood correctly. I cannot charge the phone with the wall charger. It's the charger that came with it, so it's the charger that has a USB port. I've also tried using different USB cords unsuccessfully. :-/
I haven't made any other changes while in Diagnostic mode.
A hard reset is a last resort. Although I'd still want to figure out why it happened as opposed to just figuring out how to fix it to prevent something like this in the future.
Thanks guys!

I think the mini USB socket on your phone may be defective. Fortunately, the setup following a hard reset isn't nearly the task it was on WM...
So I tried a hard reset, and the thing still didn't work.
I'm assuming this is a hardware problem. Thankfully AT&T has the whole 30 day exchange thing going on.
They couldn't fix it there, so they did exchange it for a new one. The new one works. So yay!
Thanks for all your input peoples!

Strange problem with i5801

I have i5801 with android 2.1.
I had plugged in the phone to PC using the USB connector.
Had a power outage and pc got restarted.
Since then, something strange is happening on my phone. It keeps on displaying "USB Connected" on the top of screen, even when i have plugged out the phone from PC.
Not only this, i have restarted phoen multiple times and removed/inserted battery, it still keeps on showing USB connected at regular intervals (every 2 seconds) even though it is not connected , and phone switches off automatically!
Does anyone know the solution to this?
Try a factory reset and if it doesn't work try flashing another rom.

Type *#*#7780#*#* in dialer.
Goto settings from there go to Privacy. There you will find a optiom Factory Data Reset. Good luck.

u have a big problem in hand
when u said that ur pc got restarted then it must have burnt the IC that controls the USB connection.
this IC is generally found attached. if it had burnt that u can recharge ur battery but u wnt be able to use any other PC connectivity functions.
sorry to say this but there is no way to fix this xcept giving it for servicing.
but bfore u give it u can dissemble it and have a look at the IC.
if it is burnt u will knw when u see it. no biggie
try this link to dissemble

USB Tethering - Button Shuts Off Automatically

Hi,
I've been having this issue lately, and I've found many suggestions to fix it, none of which actually work. It seems to be a somewhat common problem.
Whenever I try to enable USB tethering with my laptop (running Arch Linux, checked and not the problem), the tethering checkbox shuts off within a couple seconds, and the computer gets stuck trying for a DHCP lease. The phone stays connected in RNDIS mode until it's unplugged, but won't accept the connection. Sometimes it will work a few hours later, but the problem returns after that.
I had this happen ages ago, but it eventually just went away and I've been tethering daily for over a year without a problem. It returned yesterday, and I can't find any solution. Tried power cycling (through phone and pulling battery out), checked APN settings for changes, checked to see if anything updated (a couple apps I either rolled back or uninstalled, but no system stuff or anything with permission to change settings/networks), 4 different cables (two original Samsung cables), no dice.
Any ideas?
