I remember KingKlick put a screenshot of Sense in landscape for the G1 in a early leak of Hero 2.1. Is there anyway to force landscape with us? If anything just so we know that it's possible...
I use SMS popup and when it displays a new text if I tilt it sideways it displays sense in the background sideways, with the correct ration for the phone/app bar and everything. But when I hit anything on smspopup it goes away and into my messages or lock screen.

Eventually we will be able to put the home screen into landscape but it will have to be coded into a rom that can only be loaded when root access is granted on the phone. So in other words not yet. Will it happen? Yes. When? soon.
the eris launcher here does support landscape, as all the g1 ports support it.
it's just a matter of taping a keyboard onto your eris

Is there any way of making the tilt function work both right and left?
are you asking if you can make the keyboard slide the other way?
and just how would that work?? i know xda is great at things but that would be a serious mod.
On the iphone you can used the g-sensor to the left or to the right.
Can It be done on HTC
Only 1 way - but it's to the left, so you can still use it while driving NASCAR.
There are G-sensor programs that you can setup to rotate any application.
The following are 2 that I know of:
Gyrator http://gyrator.brins0.net/
changeScreen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465586
One question I have... Why would you want to rotate the screen opposite to the slide out keyboard???
Oh one note: Touch Sense 2.5/2.6 does not rotate properly unless you are on the music and photo tabs. Any other Manila/Touch Sense version will work with rotation on all tabs.
he doesnt want the keyboard to slide out the other way you silly nublets. he wants the same thing i want, the rhodium version of sensorssdk4 to rotate the screen with the gsenor in all orientations. rather than just portrait and 90º clockwise.

Perhaps, but he didn't ask the question very well.

I gave the answer already! The 2 programs I posted links to will rotate the screen any way you want. The original post was poorly worded but I knew what they were getting at!
P.S. I hate to say this but "Mr. Jack of Clubs" you fall into my #2 pet peeve...
I'm left handed and when I want to turn it landscape I turn the phone to the right but it doesnt rotate to the right It does rotates to the left..
Is something wrong with my phone or does this happen to everyone else
Think it only works one way. I'm left handed too and haven't noticed any particular need to turn it to the right.. I'm used to phones behaving that way I guess.
If you're lounging in a chair holding the phone at an angle you'll be glad that it doesn't suddenly rotate on you when you least expect it..
Yeah, i'm a southpaw. I would love if it rotated to the right and left.
anyone know if Open Home or any of the other home replacement apps supports rotate in all directions?
The Android OS doesn't support a rotate to the right, no home screen can change this.
Individual apps can support it (see bebbled) if they program for it, but it's a hack.

Motorola has it enabled by default on the CLIQ, not sure about droid.
It's very possible and should be part of the core.
Was playing with my friend's iPhone last night - it does it.
I too am a southpaw, would be nice. But I don't find it annoying or anything.
I've searched the xda-developers > T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 > T-Mobile USA HD2 General forum threads for an answer and also popped into Google for a few rounds of "Guess your real search terms", but haven't found anything yet.
I would like to see a true Accelerometer-based rotation for our phones, especially the Home Screen.
Yes, I am aware that many of the programs like the camera, SMS, Opera, etc. have this availability, but I was thinking of something more like what the iPod Touch / iPhone can do.
Does anyone know if this is in the works by htc?
Is this something that could possibly be done in a kitchen?
BsB Tweaks will work, however it will break the nice cover flow of the pictures and music Tabs.

Yeah, not so much.
If you're using several modified versions of Manila files, it will not "break" the scrolling or screens at all.
Sense 2.5 supports landscape orientation, just NOT for devices without hardware keyboards.
Anyway, yeah... I've used "BsB Tweaks v1.6" to support landscape orientation for all of the Manila home screens. The only screen that has issues is within PEEP. Nowhere else have I come across issues while using landscape mode.
I've used the "Rotate Screen" program to change between Landscape and Portrait, but that's not what I was looking for.
I want to be able to switch between Portrait (0) to Landscape (270) to Portrait (180) to Landscape (90), back to Portrait (0 or 360) just by turning the phone.
If you've ever played with the Album on an iPod Touch, you'll know what I mean.
Basically, if I turn my phone sideways, the screen should shift to match as Landscape (270), then if I turn it so that the speaker is down and the mic is up (90), the screen should be upside down, portrait style, all the way around until I return my phone to the usual mic-down, speaker up portrait style, effectively making a 360-degree turn, with the screen following all the way.
I realize this is probably complicated to read, it was certainly hard to write

I was under the impression that "total landscape" only worked for 0 and 270 and had to be done manually. Am I mistaken?
If you have NOT seen this yet, then I'm sure you'll be able to appreciate it.
It's pretty sweet...
ChangeScreen v2.78
I wish they were still developing it.. but unfortunately as is it doesnt work too well for my TMOUS HD2...
shame that..
Anyone else notice that the phone will automatically go into landscape mode even if the phone is being held upright? For instance, when I open the market, it will always change to landscape. Is this a 2.2 feature or is something buggy?
80+ views and no replies... I'm guessing this is something unique to me? Alright then, is there any way to recalibrate the phone's orientation?
It's not just you, but you are a bit wrong on exactly what's happening. If I open an app, initially it will open in portrait mode. Then if I rotate the phone it will go to landscape. Now, hit home, and you go back to Sense and its in portrait. Hold the phone in portrait and open another app, it will be in landscape. It's like the phone stays in landscape in the background whenever you go to the Sense screen which is always in portrait, and then ignores or forgets to switch any running apps back to portrait in the background, and any new apps will open in landscape as well. Annoying... I like the way 2.1 switched ALL apps back to portrait whenever you went back to the home screen. Can anyone patch this?

Yes, this is happening to me too... I find myself tilting my phone to fix it when I shouldn't have to. Know of a fix?
Before on eclair I would have portrait and if I tilt to the left I would have landscape. Now on the froyo leak if I tilt to the right I get landscape that way to. I don't like this. Is there some kind of setting somewhere? I want the auto rotate for only those two ways. Not both landscape.

Using root explorer go into build.prop and change 270 autorotation (or something like that) from true to false

I think that's on eclair only. I haven't seen any way to change this in FroYo, wish there was.
Or an app to lock it into landscape?

Still want help with this..

Yeah, cause used to, i could lay down on my right side, hold my phone 270° horizontal and it would still be in portrait, perfect for reading while laying down. Now, i just turn off auto rotate because i cant do that anymore.
Sent from my always stock, froyo Epic
Actaully made a tasker profile to toggle auto rotation from the notification bar. Works well.

Look for AutoRotation Control by rpor in the Market.

really? the main thing I hated about this phone was I couldnt rotate it the other way - I would have it plugged in and the cord would be a problem so I would have to sit in a strange way to use it
now I dont have that problem
THANK YOU vampyrex13.
I use my phone namely at night and its terribly awkward to tryand use the capacitive buttons with my right hand when it tilts the other wa.y

That's really neat how that app works.
