I've searched the fora, but haven't found any hints/tips on how to do this. It makes sense for a phone to have an immediate connection to an often-used function, instead of having to drill through 3 layers of menus: press Phone softkey, then Menu, then Speed Dial. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has managed this.
This should give you everything you are looking for .... and more!

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Hello!
I often thougt that dialing numbers on the dialpad really does not offer enough fisical feedback to satisfy my perfectionism.
I tried a program called "finger clix" wich is mainly an improved contact manager but... it had a dialpad aswell wich offered tiny vibration as feedback on press. I have to say that the feeling of actually dialing a keypad really boosted.
Now to my question shouldn't it be possible to hack the built in dialpad of the Magician so it returns not only a dialtone but a tiny vibration aswell?
Anyone have any ideas?

...how about using search? it already exists and works...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23395&highlight=vibrate this is what the simple word "vibrate" brings up, when you type it into the search here...
cheers, lutz
Thanks lutzh!
To be perfectly honest with you I do use the search engine a lot actually.
I guess I wasn't very observant this time.
Thanks anyway for posting the link!
C.
you're welcome anyway
ciao ragazzi, lutz
There are a couple of dialer apps that do this, w the assistance of CE Dot Net. Beware that they eat up battery though.
I really miss my old s100 button mapping. Like in phone mode the right button brought up the call history. (most missed) Any way to get this function to work on the wizard ?????
Best regards Lars
gaustabl - can you try this app out for me.
Install it, go to your programs menu > vijay555 > vjcallhistory and give it a pop.
Please report ASAP if it needs work! Either here or on my website!

WM5 devices only! Only tested on the Universal and emulator though.
If it works, make a donation or click on an ad on my webpage eh?

It works, but i still would like to map it to one of the left/right buttons.
Thanks for your reply
Best regards Lars
try following this post, it can be done
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33212
If you specifically want it mapped to dpad left/right, I think ButtonMax is the only software around right now that lets you map on a per app basis and using the dpad.
Mapping to the soft menu is easy enough.

Have tried some programs now, Mortbuttons and buttonmax. Have a problem with getting rid of mortbuttons. It uninnstalls, but next time I start my phone i get a message that it cannot start mortbuttons, and hangs for a while.
Buttonmax seems to do what i want, but i cant find how to start the call history. I cant get it to record a macro either......
Best regards
Lars
Okay, I've been reluctant to post this, but I've search the forums and I've search Google, etc, etc. and can't find the answer... What I want to do is add two icons on my Today screen that go to my Call History and my Speed Dial. I'm using iLaunch and can pretty much create an icon to anything, but for the life of me I can't figure out the link/path to Call History or Speed Dial. I'm pretty sure it possible bacuse it's right there as a button on my dialpad. Can anyone tell me the link or how to create a link to those two applets?
Thanks!
Oh, I have a 8525 running Black 2.0

Download the attached file, unZIP it, copy CallHistory.exe to your phone, and you will have CallHistory. I dont know the solution for Speed Dial. sorry.
Thanks! Worked like a charm. Now if I could only find the Speed Dial app....

can you guys please post a Screen Image?
I just want to see if it's what I'm looking for
I currently don't have a screen-print app on my device to get you the actual image of my Today screen, but this image is similar to the look of mine with the larger icons pointing to various applications/shortcuts. The Call History and Speed Dial screens are the same as you get to by going to the Dailpad and clicking on the History and Speed Dial buttons.
I find myself using the Call History and Speed Dial more than my Contacts or manual dialing so I wanted access to those two options with one click rather than going through the dial pad or fumbling around with the bottom jog pad.
Try
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJPhoneShortcuts; try it
or I made myself a small cab that I can send u with one the apps above (speedialer) to install to left soft key straight.

hello
yas that works fine thanks
John
I hope someone can help me out.
I thought on my Touch that there was a Speed Dial.lnk on my start menu to access the speed dial list. BUT, for the life of me I can't find it and I have searched and searched on line without any luck. The only way I can access my Speed Dial list to add or edit is via the phone dialer menu or the OEM Contacts menu.
Can someone post the link file or the code in it so I can create the shortcut, I would tremendously appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Someone over at PPCGeeks steered me towards VJPhoneTools and it worked liked a charm.
Hi, is there any program or tweak to add one or more new softkeys on the bottom bar besides the original left and right softkeys?
The new softkey can be associated with different shortcuts for quick program loading/menu display/convenient operations on different programs' interface, (not just today screen). So it will give users an easy DIY method to improve some programs' users interface.
Thanks!

I did have done the search work quit a long time before posting this thread.
Actually I know lots of ways to re-map the softkeys and hard buttons. I also found the solution to add new options in the softkeys' menu list.
But my question is to ADD one/more new SOFTKEY. I do appreciate if you can just confirm me that you do have seen any solution for my question. Then I will do the search work harder but hopefully .
Thank you for your reply.
I have no answer for your problem but I am using BatteryStatus that allow to configure icons in the bottom of the screen.

Actually I know SKMenu can do this job, in some way. I am seeking a simple solution/program, which is more flexible and powerful for the above-mentioned purpose.
a far as i know there is no way for that. but if you need so much buttons i would use one of the many launchers.
Wisbar Advance 3 can show one more Button, I think!
