swype is now in public beta, and according to their instructions you have to uninstall any previous iterations of it before you can install it again, so I would say try that.

Hey, I got accepted to the swiftkey as well, but for some reason or another the d/l didn't work on my end, kept getting to about 500k, then aborting... Thanks for the apk! I will give it a whirl. Swype isn't for me... I am one of the freaks that prefers the stock keyboard the most so far... even over HTC_IME. But I would like a little better!

Yeah, i told you.. Spread the word.. Not to many people have this.. They NEED this.. Since it's private..

Wow, love the way it guesses what you probably want.
Personally, I still like swype. I find I'm constantly pausing and scanning to see if it has guessed the word I want yet. With swype, I am more able to focus on what I wish to write than if it has guessed the word yet.
But I've not played with this very long and might chane my mind. At the moment, it disrupts the rythem for me. I can't think about what I want to input and on if it has poped up with a valid selection yet at the same time (limitation of my brain).
Both impressive bits of software.
I think swype could benefit from the predictive logic of swift when trying to select the best word choice. It's already very good, but by checking the sentece context it could better prioratise the choice selection. Particularly for sloppy input of very short words.

Sadly I have to agree.
Pausing often to see if it has the word you want makes typing very slow.
Technically speaking, SwiftKey is impressive.
But practically... who will really prefer this?...

You couldnt have said it any better way.. I am a selected tester, and I thaNk all of you as I will provide this as feedback to Swiftkey. They're constantly changing the way it functions, this is why I sent it off to the world.. I get feedback here too.

Correct you stand.. thanks.. I am sending that as feedback.. that's why I posted it here.. I think it is much more than impressive.. Give it time and try to use it more than often, this way you get a good view of it.
Plus, Google is going to add this as a stock keyboard this takes off. So pass on the word..

Hey guys.. I see your all enjoying the gifts.. but.. can someone explain the apps2sd in the desire Rom to me..
How do I partition my SD cqrd, is it auto on desire..

As with every other 3rd party KB.
Needs voice input key.
Cant take it serious without it. Bout 70% of my input is voice based now.

I am digging swiftkey, I certainly like it more than smart keyboard. I think it needs to get adjusted to your personal preferences but so far it is really accurate. Very cool indeed.

[GAME]Bantumi Diamond (Old Nokia 3310 Game)

My second game for Windows Mobile!!!
yay?
This is a remake of an old Nokia 3310 Game that I used to play all the time.
Good old days!
Explanation of the way the game is played:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mancala
This game is made for 2 people to play against each other.
I might add a singleplayer if I have the time to!
Since everyone has their own rules for this game I will write them down real short:
When ending your "seeding" in a empty hole on the opponent's side you will capture a point.
When you end up in your own main hole you get an extra turn.
The opponent's main hole will not be skipped while "seeding"
There I hope I explained it well enough.
Any suggestions or bugs reports are more than welcome!
Enjoy gaming!

Hi Freckle
could it be possible to get som screenshots please ?
And a single player version would be awesome !!!
Screen shots are a must, some users never put something on there phone without knowing how it will look
oh I totally agree, I would never put something on my phone without seeing a screenshot or a video of it.
Definitely not from an unknown developer like me
Video is uploaded, check my first post!!!
Can I be honest with you ?
The graphics are not really beautiful...., I would love to see it looks like a real wood one
I do love this game, I spent hours playing on it on my nokia and I also have a real one in my house

Seconded. Since that 3D dice app was cancelled (I was working on the graphics for that) this could be a fun project to take on. Give me a day and I can whip up something that's at least on par with the above screenshot - I'll try to make it look better .
Not everyone knows how to create apps like the one you showed us from the screenshot.
I appreciate your honesty, but I started giving C# a shot 2 weeks ago.
And I haven't ever made a 3d/graphical application before.
Also I'm not following a ICT/"Programming" education yet, have to wait 1 and a half years for that.
If someone could give me a push in the right direction, that would be appreciated.
***I think I have an idea to spice it up, give me some time.

I'd use a ImageButton with transparency set to true,
this should also help you "catch" the clicks
But IMHO I think it is better to complete the the coding prior to the cosmetics, I'd rather see a fully functional game which doesn't look that nice then a not working game which looks great.
with fully functional I meant including a single player version...
because that is the real challenge
Anyway I'm glad you started this thread, because I almost forgot about this great game. thank you
keep up the good work

Swiftkey definitely works much much faster than Swype for me because of its predictive text, which is actually smart and usable.

Don't forget to add it to the exception list of your task killer, if you use one.
Because this keyboard takes a little bit longer than the HTC one to start up.
EDIT: Oh and a new version is out today btw!
i've been using slideIT which is so good i haven't bothered with swype yet, but now i'm tempted to try swiftkey.
I love Swype, but the SYM layout is just terrible.
Why can't they stick to the standard QWERTY layout? This is what I'm talking about, btw:

for those wanting to try Swype;

hoi,
odin
Good thing i grabbed a copy of it before the mods took down your link. been wanting to try it. Its cool and all but i find that correcting my mistakes and adding new words is a pain and takes away my speed. I type way faster on the default keyboard with auto correct on. No match. It also takes up too much space on the screen and is a ~20mb app (doesnt matter for me since i have apps2sd). Thanks for sharing though odin13.
I would love to try Swype and compare it to SlideIT and Swiftkey but I can't find a swedish version of it. Swiftkey does the job pretty well but everyone keep saying how good Swype is and I'd like to try.
But the last update of SlideIT was pretty good add well, predicts words great now, the only thing I'm missing is a fast way to reach special characters.

Swiftkey kept crashing my browser. I had to uninstall it and went back to Swype. Then I remembered why I like Swype so much.

Who misses the old Android keyboard?

I am trying my best to like this new keyboard but can't get used to it. I used to be able to quickly type on the old one but this new one is giving me issues. Is there a learning curve or something?
Yeah, it's called Smart Keyboard Pro
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
what google did was copy the keyboard from the droid x and just made the keys much smaller, which was their single biggest mistake and which explains some inaccuracy problems that people have been having, especially those with bigger/fatter fingers.
i use keyboard pro instead because i can adjust the size of the keys through the height adjustment feature. (yeah i have big hands/fingers). you can also adjust the multitouch sensitivity on it as well.
you can also download swype as an alternative from swype's website.
They need to make the space bar longer, and remove the period key. Pressing the space bar twice takes care of the period anyway.
I actually love the new android keyboard. I find it much more accurate than the froyo one. idk maybe its just me.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

I agree. I don't have as much errors on this one and it's the closest one to the iPhone keyboard (which was my favorite). On that 3.5" screen I was able to type out long text messages in portrait mode.
I think the oversensitivity of the Nexus S screen contributes to a lot of typoes and errors as well. Ever try holding your finger just above the screen, but not actually touching it? It'll register as a press. I'm sure when fast thumbs are glazing over the keyboard while typing, it causes mis-hits and repeated hits (like tthis or thiss - something that always happens to me). Oddly enough, sometimes the complete opposite will happen, when it doesn't register hits despite knowing I've hit the key (it'll have the popup preview). This happens especially with the keyboard (resulting in ths or tis, or things likethis). All annoying.
I've always been very critical of the Android typing experience. It's one of the few sore spots of the Android experience in general. Gingerbread stock is without question better than previous iterations, but it still pales in comparison to typing on an iPhone (or even an iPod touch). Anyone who has typed extensively on one would know the difference. I'm sure it's a combination of both hardware and software that makes it so successful; I can type with utter confidence on an iPhone/iPod Touch.
I wish I could say the same for Android. I'm hoping Blindtype will be implemented soon and change all this. I'm also hoping they'll grow a brain and depart from Apple by including features like Custom Auto-Correction. Until then, alternatives help. The new "optimized for Gingerbread" Better Keyboard 8 is quite good. Smart Keyboard Pro is good too (love the Custom Auto-Correction feature).

yeah moreso the droid x then the apple one, check the pic out. i always used the droid x apk on my older android devices and i thought this new one would be the same or an improvement. i guess i thought wrong but hey that's just my opinion.
The 2.3 keyboard is just too small. Measure it to smart keyboard or swift key and you will see what I mean.
I'm using swype and love it.
I use it, I have to admit... I am still learning how to hit the keys just right. However, it is an amazing keyboard, love it.

Adding a vote for the Gingerbread keyboard too. Everytime I have to go back to the Froyo keyboard on friends' devices or my work phone, I find it much harder to type on than my Nexus S. I used to always need the haptic feedback turned on with the Froyo keyboard too, but I haven't bothered turning it on with this keyboard.
I like the gingerbread keyboard. I type a wee bit faster than I did with the froyo KB.

What keyboard is for YOU?

What keyboard do you like best? The one that looks the best? The one you can type fastest from with ease?

UltraKeyboard is my keyboard of choice. Worth the couple bucks. Can fully theme it how you want it, including key size and spacing, has a ton, a ton, of features, and a swype like function that you can train and set pause parameters on. I highly recommend it.
Swiftkey is good too, if I could theme it I would probably use that all the time.
I'm using swiftkey, the only thing that I don't like that's it's bright, I would rather have a darker keyboard.
Smartkeyboard why? Because it's smart duhh

You can even see how many keystrokes you saved by using it's predictions.

Turbo Root Update

Are you stuck at work and want to know if we have root? Are you away from a computer? Did you just get in a car wreck and are laying there, taking your final breath, with only your phone in your hand, wondering, "Do we have root?" Then this is the app for you.
I was messing around with Google's new Material Design standards I decided to throw this together. It'll be updated the moment a root method is discovered.
Another note: this will only work only Droid Turbos.. I can add other models to the list upon request, however, I didn't make the app responsive, so it only looks right on 2560x1440 screens.
Enjoy.
EDIT: This will now work on ALL devices!
EDIT_2: I realized just now that I chose the same material design color as SuperSU and did the same icon design completely by accident. No correlation there, just sheer happenstance.
FINAL EDIT: A root method has been discovered and will be release shortly. The latest update of the app will point you to the root video so you can root whenever ad wherever. Thank you all for downloading!
Neat little app haha. Hopefully we wont need it for long!
However I must say this is in the wrong section of the forum, the more appropriate location would be -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/themes-apps
Does it push a notification when the device gets rooted? Or will it just replace my xda refreshes with opening the app every 5 minutes?

I agree. I would have put it there, but no one will see it cause they are checking here for root. Thus the post in general.

Push notifications would be an awesome thing to have!

I can add an update for it. I don't have a subscription to any push services currently so I'd to re-up for that.
I'll call it, the are-we-there-yet? App
Why not make it so others can keep tabs on it, too? I have an LG G3 and would like to know when the Turbo gets root.

More like "Are we rooted yet?" Makes more sense

I was limiting it because I didn't want a bunch of phones with 1920x1080 resolution wondering what the deal was cause I didn't make it responsive, but I think I will just update it. You convinced me.
Man, this is great... Genius. I check these threads lately about once or twice an hour, just waiting on good news. When I open a new tab, Chrome goes, "Oh, lemme guess... XDA Turbo General?" This is a time saver. Thank you, sir.

You're exactly the person I made it for! You are welcome!
Sad your effort cannot be easily installed on older moto's. We would not care about a skewed image of an unlock graphic!! Would not the ultra/Maxx be an easy one?
But what do I know about generating apk's.
Great idea anyway!!

At the office now, but when I get off tonight, I will be opening it to other devices.
The graphics won't be skewed, but rather they will be blown up. I will probably write in a line to scale the graphics accordingly on smaller res phones when I update it this evening. :good:
Kinda curious why you chose Lua and Corona.

Kinda curious why you are decompiling my apk.
Been bouncing around trying some different things. Noted that the Corona SDK used lua-- a language I had previously used in the form of eLua to program microcontrollers. However, 80% of the code draws off of Corona's predefined functions which makes it feel like a "copy and paste fest". I also remember reading that a lot of WoW addons were coded in lua (easily embed-able) which spiked my curiousity. I'll have to say though, it is incredibly simple to use.

I decompiled it because I was curious.
Doesn't everyone do that?
Check out NativeScript when you get a chance.

Actually I've noticed a few online games now have used lua in encrypted game files (to prevent hackings and game mods, but lets face it someone is going to crack it at some point) not just add-ons.
Just wondering, how does it work? Do you just monitor XDA for "root" threads?
