... you installed a G1 cyanogen rom? or do you mean you installed darch's 2.0.1 cyanogen?
try downloading a rom(fresh 1.1, gumbo 1.5c) and put it to your sd card. enter recovery mode(home+power). wipe/format your phone and flash the rom.
my bad mistype i ment
2.0.1 cyanogen

Hey guys, got a huge problem, I rooted my HTC Magic, it was working and all, but now (I'm using Fatality HERO) it doesn't startup, it gets stuck on the HERO screen. Even worse is my phone turned itself off after saying SD Card corrupted.... and now when I cm recovery, it doesn't recongise the damn SD card, I've tried the reset thing by holding home and back, I'm totally lost. HELP!

32a or 32b?
32B, although I seemed to have fixed it. I dug out the original 2GB MicroSD, put another Fatality ROM on it, and reflashed the ROM on, works now I'm wondering what to do with my 8GB mSD card though. Should I pop it back into my HTC a reformat it? Or will it kill the phone again?

I just use this thing.
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/
Or the built in one in the RAv1.2.1 recovery rom.
Haha fixed that too Lolz!
ok so rather than realize that the sd card was the problem, you rebooted and wiped your phone. the first step you should have taken was to reformat the sd card. when you use the sd card to run apps there is a higher chance of corruption.
Nah, it said the SD was corrupt, wouldn't let me format, then my phone ran out of battery, which was Then my problem started because obv. it doesn't mount the SD card, and my backup image is on there. When I booted up, it got stuck on the HERO screen... blah blah..... Well, it's working now, although, now with a formatted SD, I don't have a backup of my original ROM, which is lame. I was lucky to have a spare SD, or I would have been done for!
MOD EDIT
Thread moved to general discussion as not rom related
The Fatal1ty ROM has a problem with SD cards, every time you mount via USB and then unmount, it tells you the card has corrupted. After you reboot your phone it comes back though. I would use one of the other Hero ROMs instead.

I tried to install expresso on DC 2.07 and the zip file flashed, then when I rebooted it just keeps looping without getting to the OS. I suppose I screwed something up, so I was going to nandroid back, but now the phone won't let me get back into the recovery console. Anybody have any tips on how to get the recovery console back up?

You pulled the battery and put it back in, then held just the home button and the power key?
if the above doesnt do it
Pull the battery put it back in power on hold down home and back. clear the data.
I am currently running the newest version of DC, hours after the update I look down the phone is continuously restarting never making it past the sprint screen.
I go into recovery it says it cant mount to the SD card. so as of right now my phone is dead in the water.
I purchased a new SD card and im loading DC onto it to do a flash. Ill let you know If I get the same thing, mine didnt do it right away but it was fine before the update this morning... oh and Damage whats up with no Wireless Tether??
Mine is doing the infinite loop also. I had everything working and did a nandroid backup. After I rebooted, it started to loop, the nandroid loops also, I wiped the ext on sd, and still get the loop.

So you guys can get into Nandoird, you wipe data, dalvik and ext partition, reinstalled ROM and you still get a boot loop?
Yes exactly..
I ruled my phone bricked earlier for no reason at all. phone was fine, i did the update to 2.7.2 and hour or two later it keeps looping..
I tried New SD card, erase data, davlik, re partitioned, downloaded a fresh version off the net just incase my copy was corrupt and still looped
I took it to the sprint store before they closed and got a new phone.
I Would seriously look into this obviously I wasnt the only one

Yes TrevE says it may have something to do with /data/private-app/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6174954&postcount=1951
All I know, it boots like normal, I install exchange, hotmail. some market apps. titanium apps, paid and free, then when I went to reboot I backed up in nandroid, then when it actually booted, it was stuck in the HTC quietly brilliant and the start up of the sprint logo and keep looping. TreVe suggested adb logcat but I can not get that far to log the error. He said he logged it as the private-app
Oh I also tried to delete sd ext, davik, remove sdcard, run from the nandroid back up and everyway made the loop. I think TrevE is onto something though. I have one app that I install that is a private app that is from Titanium that may cause this.
Oh and btw, if I wipe the rom and reboot it boots up normally so i think it has something to do with something that is installed. Is anyone else using titanium backup to restore a paid app? Installing a paid app from the sdcard??

Not much left to look into since the phone is gone. I would have restored to the unrooted 1.56 ruu to test, but I guess a new phone is good too.
Try flashing a different ROM as in different frameworks. Sometimes going back to a 1.5 ROM can fix weird issues like that.
I went with fresh's Rom this time instead of dc. Everything has been good so far.
I had a problem with a loop with both DC and Fresh. It all began after I set up my Exchange email. I am using Touchdown and I haven't had any issues.
Keep on mind I never added or used any private apps. This happened after the update through the loader. I changed nothing and have been using the same apps for months.
I kept having these issues after 2.07.2 even after a full wipe and reset still no dice. So I just went to Fresh.
Question.
I decided to try Deeper Blue's HC. I was running CM7. I loaded the image on my SD card and used ROM Manager to load HC off the SD card.
Everything worked fine but I overlooked the fact that flash and YouTube don't work, so I decided to bail on HC and recover my backup I made of CM7.
The problem is, I can't get the Nook to boot into recovery. I also can't get the recovery to work in ROM Manager when I select the backup file I made today. I've tried removing the SD card. I've tried it with the card in. I've tried powering the Nook down and restarting with the volume button held down.
Can anyone tell me how to recover my CM7? Or at worst, load a new CM7 flash?
Nevermind. I just noticed the handy dandy utility INCLUDED in HC just for this reason.
Restore is running now.
Thanks!
I rcently was on cm7 and then decided to go back to stock the only thing was odin 1.3 and 1.7 keot gettung stuck, my sister accidentally clicked repartition and i unplugged it before it got any further. i did the going back to stock process like 5 times and kept getting stuck. I waited an hour then tried again and now it worked , i installed cm7 and my sd card or any other one i put in the doesnt read it, it doesnt even say sd card inserted?
thoughts?
Did you try looking in /emmc ? It doesn't read the micro sd in the usual format on CM7.
I think you have to odin again, then flash a rom like trigger then flash cm7
ty so much JMC! u solved my prob its in emmc...thanks is on the way
Hey guys!
I have updated my gt540 from original 2.1 (without fastboot) to 2.3.2 (cyanogen mod 7.0.0 with all stuff that was needed). Since update from 1.6 to 2.1 and then to 2.3.2 I have problems with my sd card. It's Kingston 16gb micro sdhc card. I often get messages "Sd card unexpectedly removed" and then "mounting" immediately after turning on screen. The problem is, that (I think) it happens this removal happens sometimes during preparing card for android and it has made my sd card useless (needed to reformat it, losing all data). This is getting annoying, because of my data and 7gb of music I need to copy every time it's broken, and it happens once-twice every month. I checked slot for sd and put a piece of paper to push card further. Didn't work. So my first question: is it because of android or hardware? Or maybe sd card is too big for this phone?
And another question: is it possible to "revert" my phone to original 2.1 without fastboot?(To make phone look not altered by me [guarantee]) (Of course by 'revert' I mean installing new rom from lg).
I'm little tired with this 2.3.2, it's sometimes rebooting without reason and this particular rom has many apps I don't need.
Also will themes, that are posted here (for 2.1) work with fabric 2.1?
And if not, could you show me a clean rom which will work fast? Also, working radio is appreciated.
Clean ROM
Well... Here's a clean ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182804
Do you want fastboot after flashing the Stock 2.1 ROM?
I had similar problems with card on earlier versions of 2.3.x. I would recommend trying SwiftDroid, it has Android 2.3.5 and some tweaks for SD cards. Since installing that ROM I hadn't a single issue with storage.
Size of the card shouldn't be a matter, because GT540 can use up to 32 GB.
Clean ROMs
Clean ROMs doesn't always mean it's faster. I could be at some times. You could mod CM7 to bypass the speed of a clean ROM. Swiftdroid is not a clean ROM unlike AOSP Froyo which is "Pure Android". I've heard that AOSP Froyo has better battery performance than Swiftdroid, but I'm not sure :/

I'll give froyo a try and then, if problem persists I'd want to flash it to stock 2.1 without fastboot and maybe I'll give it to service.
After I flash it to 2.2 you posted what should I do to get rid of fastboot? Just run lg update which will do everything?
ed: Wait, is fastboot just an application for windows and it's by default on every device and I got it wrong with clockwork mod?
Fastboot
Fastboot is used on a device from a computer. You can't use fastboot without a device with fastboot. There's no fastboot on the LG GT540's stock ROM. You need to flash a Fastboot ROM to use fastboot from your computer. Clockwork Recoverymod is a modification to your device that can enable you to flash and backup your ROMs without the need of a computer.

Do you mean that the 'Phone' app can't read your SD card.
Isn't everything used by the 'Phone' application on the Stock 2.1 ROM from the internal memory?
Yes, the phone does not detect the SDcard.
I can not install applications on the card as if it were not for a SDcard.
Dismount
You can take out your SD card and put it back in. See if that does anything.

It also has been trying. Several cards we tried already.
Physical problem
It could be a physical problem, you should go to the place you bought it from and tell them to fix it. You could try re-flashing a ROM and see what happens.

Defect
Hmm... maybe it's problem with the SD card tray. You should take it to the store.
