i have an htc touch hd.
with wm6.1 in englis.
i want to change it to pt but keep the same wm.
do i need to hspl my device just to change the language???

Flash a Diamond rom and you brick your Polaris, Diamond rom are for Diamond. Polaris rom for Polaris. Dont try to flash another devices roms

have a look the ROm development forum.. there are lots of ROM which you can flash which have the Touch Pro 2 interface... I am currently using Dutty 3.9.. You can try his final 6.1 ROM called Dutty's WM6.1 V4.1 Finale
No, it isn't possible: if you want Manila 2.1 flash an HD ROM with it
