WTF i was browsing through my pics today and came across all these random pics from facebook, like folks profile pics and some random album pics, it was under the alums setting and the my device, i mean there was about 300 pics there? How can i delete these and stop them from coming back and whats the reason for this, all i want is the photos i have taken on my phone and any other albums i have uploaded myself to the phone, any advice would be great.
Has something to do with the new version of FB that MS put out. You have a link in the albums for facebook photos. Seems it downloads all your peeps pics. And I mean ALL OF THEM! You should have a folder called fbimage in the mydocs [I think that was the folder] folder on the device. Delete the entire folder. Not sure how to stop it from happening again.
First I saw the folder, I was like "Why the hell does the FBI have a image folder on my device!?!?!"
correct.they're the thumbnails of your fb contacts albums.(picture tab, albums, albums, face book tab.there they all are....flipping hundreds of em!!
yeah i,m using the new ms Fb app it's good but this sucks

64. Disable Unwanted Folders From Showing in HTC Album
Don't you find it annoying that HTC Album Shows lots of images you don't need to see when you select Albums like GPS poi icons? Now you can tell HTC Album to ignore certain folders.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE
Eg if there is iGO8 in the root of the Storage Card you would create a NEW STRING VALUE with Value name iGO8 and Value Data \Storage Card\iGO8
This will include all subfolders inside the iGO8 folder. Save and reset.
Use that and it stops putting them on your storage card. Worked champion for me.
Cheers
Ian
Add the new sting as \Temp using the above tip,
Bump, is there a easier way of doing this? As im not even sure how to get into the Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/HTCAlbum/Ignored and add a NEW STRING VALUE part???
Please help
I'm not sure .. I did not test it .. but if I remember correctly, you can set that folder as hidden, and it will stop showing it in Albums. I'd try doing that from PC with HD2 plugged in in sync mode (not mass storage mode).
Where is this folder located i spent ages trying to find it?
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
Add a new string: Name – Facebook Cache, Value – \temp\fbimagecache
(mine is imagecache so check yours in Temp Folder)
This will stop it showing in the HTCAlbum.
Install ClearTemp in the option/ settings browse the path to Device/Temp it will delete the cache on startup or you can clean manualy.

\Temp\fbimagecache (device - not storage card)
It's actually real easy to do, with the right software.
Download CeRegEditor for your PC from here. Connect the HD2 via activesync and you can edit the registry on your PC. When you locate the "Ignore" key in the registry tree, just add new string values by right-clicking on the right hand pane. Add one for every folder you want to ignore, but remember that it will also ignore sub-folders. The name can be anything you want - the value should be the folder.
Image nightmare
Hi I am really struggling with the facebook images appearing in my htc albums, ive tried the above registry tweak to ignore but it doesnt seem to work, please can anyone help me rid my hd2 of his pain.Thanks. x

[Q] Redirecting My Documents and My pictures to Storage Card does not seem to "stick"
Hi,
got my HD2 yesterday and have been toying since to set it up the way I'm used to with my previous Touch Pro and TytnII before that.
This shows again how spoiled we've been with excellent roms like the Energy Series!
I'm using the same 4GB microSD card I had on the TouchPRo since all my pictures etc are on there but I can't get the pictures displayed in the picture tab of Touchflo.
I redirected all relevant 'location' folders using Advanced Config but after soft reset, the HD2 is still displaying the demo pictures that come with the phone.
New pictures get stored on the storage card, but in the DCIM folder although I also specified the store location to be 'My Pictures'.
I tried both the pre-defined storage card locations in Advance Config, as well as the browse option to go to the relevant folder.
I though maybe it is because I have the Dutch HD2 version (yes, I could not wait as the WWE is only available on the 13th) but I checked and the storage card is named 'storage card', not some Dutch translation.
Anybody have any pointers where I could change this?
thanks a lot.

nobody who could help me? Been looking into the registry past couple of days at HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\image; HKLM\Services\Picture etc... every key seems to point to the right locations; but still when I take a picture, it doesn't show up in the TouchFlo3D interface...
help anyone?
DicE
the manual says that you must add a "album" as "favorite album" to show the pics in manila on todayscreen. maybe this is the solution?

I'm not sure this is what you're asking, but here's a quote from the manual:
Captured photos are named using the convention IMAGnnnn.jpg (where ‘nnnn’ is the counter), and are saved to the \DCIM\100MEDIA folder on the storage card.
and
To set a favorite album
The Photos & Videos tab on the Home screen displays photos and video files from the current favorite album. By default, the Camera Shots album which stores the photos and videos you captured using the Camera is set as the favorite album. You can change to another favorite album, if preferred.
1. On the Albums main screen, tap Albums.
2. On the Albums tab ( ), tap the album you want to set as your favorite.
3. Tap Menu > Set Album as Favorite, and then tap OK.
It looks to me like the pictures can be stored on the card, but only in one location and you must specify the location.
Sorry if I misinterpreted your question (I don't have an HD2 to play with yet).
-Bob-
@rebecker - you have almost miss understood The OP wants the Camera software to SAVE the photos into \storage card\My Documents\My Pictures - this does not work, none of the usual reg key changes work.
Default camea picture folder - DCIM vs My Pictures
I also have a similar problem. I've changed HKLM\software\HTC\camera\general\EnableDCIM = 0, so that I can use date/time prefix.
After the change, the HTC Album recognize \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures as the default camera folder. However, when I actually took a photo it went to DCIM folder... Not a big deal, but it is just a little annoying.
Any expert here know how to solve this?
Exactly the same problem. The camera saves its shoots to DCIM\100media, and not to My pictures, even if DCIM = 0...
I have 1.43 rom and I have also wanted to change default my picture and my documents folder to the folder on storage card. I didn't made it.
For the photo tab...yes I wanted few thing here too...because everytime I've set the favourite album to the storage card/photos...that was reset everytime I've connected hd2 to pc or when i removed microsd card and put it back...
The only way that I kept my favourite album fixed was with not connecting with usb or removing the card.
Ok...it takes only few seconds to change the favourite album back, but it is very annoying that hd2 doesnt remember the folder...
looks like live mesh mobile works pretty good.
I did something stupid and installed it on the storage card. I'm going to do a whole new install, and try on device to see if there's a difference. I got an error about invalid config, blah blah. it seems to loop on sync since i got the error, but the documents appear to sync anyhow.

Its pretty annoying if my friends uses my phone and i cant let them go see pictures becouse im not that kind of boyfriend So is there any way to hide pictures / make folder with password? And sorry for my bad english i hope you guys understand.
like your honesty!!!
using file explorer.. go to...
(depending where your pictures are stored)
cut and paste the pictures contained in DCIM\100media\
into a new folder somewhere else on the storage card.. and it will no longer appear in the image gallery

It just hides a folder from the album app. You can still manually browse to it with file explorer, for example, and open images from there.
Hope this helps

i edited thet registry key but i'm having troubles.. while it is actually hiding pictures in htc album, they are still showing up in manila's tab, am i doing something wrong?
WinRar the files. You can even put a password on it so that if you loose the phone no one can see the pics. I found it the easiest and most secure way to hide your girlfriends pictures.

Free app to protect pictures
Hi,
Search for an app called FreeOTFE4PDA. It allows you to create a fully encrypted, password protected folder on your card. This can then be mounted as a storage card when needed. Within this you can create folder and do anything else you can do on a storage card. The important part is of course that you can not mount it if you do not know the password.

i run both windows and android, so what i'm trying to do is to hide android's gallery cache files (why did developers think that using readable jpg files as cache would be a good idea in the first place?)
that's the reason i want them to remain accessible for android use, but still don't want them to fill my windows photo tab with duplicates, so no rar storing can solve my problem
i fear i'll have to give up the 3d glory of android's gallery due to this stupid issue...
Use Total Commander, find the pictures, press & hold a picture, tap Properties, check the box "Hidden", press OK. The pictures can only be accessed through Total Commander.
It's a good thing my 900th post went to a good cause!

That's exactly the problem i'm having. You just have to keep the photos rarred while you using android. Not the perfect solution, if you find a better 1 i'm interested too.

1)Change the extension to some other (from jpg to ipg in example). So no one program will open it. When you need it change again to jpg.
2)make it hidden or system
I've placed pictures on an SD card in media/pictures. Most are in sub-folders with only a handful with no designation just floating around in media/pictures. When I went into pictures to choose a wallpaper EVERYTHING is there. All out in the open. No groups. Even album pictures from my media/music folder.
What's going on? I'd just like to, from the home screen, hit menu > wallpaper > pictures and have them show up in groups so I can just go to my media/pictures/wallpaper folder.
How can I just add walls to the Wallpaper Gallery? What file explorer is good to get from the Market Place?
I've looked around but the answers are scattered and file explorers are mentioned but no one's said outright "yeah, use this one..."
rly? i mean rly!? come on now...
So much activity around the forums and no one knows what to do for sorting pics on an SD card or accessing the default location for wallpapers...

Hi, how is you VB. Coding?
I had the same issue and I just wrote a simple program to rename the .jpg’s in the date order I wanted.
I can post the code if you want? I think its possible to do it in VBA as well, but I found there was a lot more information relating to the .NET stuff
Thanks but I was really just looking for a recommended directory structure for the SD card and a way to get the gallery to NOT show album art for my music. I tried naming the folder .music but then the phone could not find the music!
Also, I have custom ringtones/mp3's used as ringtones on my SD which the phone loses after having mounted it to the pc?! I set a ringtone for a contact then at some point I mount the phone to USB and then I find on my contact that the ringtone is now "unknown." I tried copying the mp3's I most use as ringtones to the phone but I was told that it could not be done by AndExplorer...
Kinda sad at this point. :\
I just notice this happening about 5 days ago. Before, I could slide to Photos & Videos > Albums > Albums and under 'My Device" I see an "All Folder", "Camera Shots Folder", "My Pictures Folder", "My Wallpappers Folder". Well now, I'm seeing what looks like Facebook pictures in folders. The folders consist of just 1 or 2 pics, some folder have as many as 8 pics but there all from Facebook. Ther is as many as 60+ folders of very small blurry thumbnail pics. I don't know why they started appearing here.
When I go to Start > My Device > Temp > fbimagecache
I see all the folders of the pics here but when I delete them all, they come back. Can somebody help me get rid of these permanently? Why is this happening now? Ive been using FB on my USHD2 for 16days, this has never occurred until 5 days ago.
I also had this problem. It happens because the new version of the Facebook app caches images, thus they appear in the Album. Every time you update the Facebook app, the images will reappear. To exclude the pictures from the Album, use a registry editor and go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Exclusions and create a new registry key with the string value \temp\fbimagecache. The name of the key doesn't matter. The next time you open Album, the pictures will be excluded.

just for info, mine is HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
I assume thats the same key.
How do I access the registry? Or is there another way of doing it without going that route (like Menu > Options > Disable FB Cache To Album lol). Does registry edit void the warranty?
Also another question, why does the phone save random screenshots in my 'TEMP' folder? This adds to space, how do I stop it from doing that?

hey raadius, just saw your post in the other thread
as for this, I have just done the registry tweak myself as i was having the same problem and it works
download the last attachment called total commander: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325975
open it from the start menu
open the folder and double click '//' and then 'registry'
follow the post above for where to go and what to do
hope this helps
hiya, just done this and now ALL of the photos on my SD card are hidden, even the folders don't show up in file explorer. Tried to delete the reg key and it won't let me!!!!!! any ideas?
Edit: It seems this hack has DELETED ALL THE PHOTOS OFF MY SD CARD.....very strange.....luckily I got most of them on my PC backed up
Isn't there a cab file fix for this?
i been using a program like cleartemp , or memmaid run the prgram once or twice a day
it cleans out the folder, but when you go back on fb it be back on temp
so let me know if you try out

i have this problem with my htc hd mini, there is a cab file which i downloaded. but ive had to do a hard reset on my phone and now i cant find the cab file anywere grrrrr
I recently got cyanogen mod 6 on my htc legend, and was just exploring the apps. One app, is Gallery (which came stock with cyanogen and possibly with android in general).
I see 3 albums, called Desktop, Desktop and Test. I guess these are just folders i created at some point prior to trying cyanogen.
But I dont want those albums there, and when i click the album, there is no delete option. Other albums I have the option to delete, but just not these 3.
I tried mounting my sd card, and searching for the file names for those pics, and the album names, but i cant find it. Which then makes me think, that its not on the sd, but stored internally instead ?
How can I find and delete these pictures ?
Just some more information, i cleared the gallery cache through the applications setting, and loaded gallery again, and those albums with the pictures are gone...
I waited sometime, because ive done this before, but after some time they came back...but currently, its been a few mins since I cleared the cache and everything seems to be in order...
ill post back in a few hours, if they come back. Otherwise, this thread can be deleted.
Ok, the pictures are back. It took sometime after clearing the cache, but somehow, those albums and pictures are back.
One thing I did see, is that all the albums I CAN delete, have a folder icon on the bottom left. The ones that i CANNOT delete, have a camera (or aperature) icon on the bottom left.
Help ?
i downloaded QuickPic, a photo viewer app, and it does not list the albums/pics in question that Gallery seems to show.
QuickPic is set up to search for pics on /mnt/sdcard
which then just furthur makes me think that the folder Desktop and test are someone on the internal memory.
I tried to use astro, and dual file browser to search, for those folders but couldnt find it.
I tried to use terminal and use "find . -type d Desktop" (which i believe searches the root directory for a folder called Desktop) but that returned with nothing.
Im at a loss. Its not the end of the world if these pics are here, but really, i dont want them there and I should be able to remove them.
bump...any ideas or things to try ?
Hey, there is an edit button you know. You don't need to post new reply again and again. Btw if the pictures keeps coming back. That means there is an app that is doing that. Look around for any apps that might be doing that.
There is no edit for these pictures( the ones i want gone), the rest of the pictures (i want to keep), have the edit button which includes delete.
When i click the pictures i dont want and press the menu button to show me more options, I only have Share and More. In 'More' I have Details and Set as Wallpaper
I have 2 photo viewers (Gallery and QuickPic) and QuickPic does not show those pictures(the ones i want gone)...only in Gallery.

i think rajasyaitan is referring this thread so that you can just edit the first post and update it. no need for you to make new post every time you come back.

There isnt.
Solved.
Ok I figured it out.
If anyone is wondering. The gallery app is somehow tied into your google account, and if you have a picasa web album set up, it automatically pulls. Which is why I couldn't delete it or even find it because it was never on the phone.
Just randomly decided to log into picassa web album and saw the stupid album names I gave it and it clicked.
Ok..mystery solved.
