Hi there.
I don't understand this.
I have a lot of stored SMS in my Leo. When I browse them, the name of the person which is displayed is always the name stored in the the SIM contact, and not in the Device Contacts.
To make it easier, just an example:
In my SIM device I have this contact: Julian Oppenh?
In my device I also have this contact: Julian Oppenheimer (Shop)
If he sends me an SMS, it always shows "Julian Oppenh?"
If I remove this contact from my SIM card, then the name will be properly displayed ["Julian Oppenheimer (Shop)"]...but I don't like the idea of removing it from my SIM card!
If I receive an SMS from someone who exists in my device contacts but not in my SIM card directory, then the name is displayed as it should (obviously).
Anyone else had this issue? Hox can this be fixed? Is there a way to tell my Leo that information in device must prevail over information in SIM card?
Thanks in advance.
No one else has this problem??
I don't use SIM contacts ever, just sync your phone to your PC and delete the SIM contacts as they're backed up - end of issue
I found a way to solve this issue. I'll leave the method here just in case someone else has this problem.
I removed the SIM card, backed up my contacts & messages with PIMBackup, inserted the SIM card again, restored copy with PIMBackup and voila!
EddyOS, thanks for the tip, but the thing is that I wanted to keep these contacts in my SIM card, you never know.
Cheers,

Sorry, I have no clue on this issue, but I experienced a the similar problem, as my contacts (phone book) grows over time. As it grows, the phone took longer time to search through the phone book before could really display the caller's name. Instead only the number was displayed. Can anybody tweak around with this problem?

here how u goes
Start > Programs > Sim Manager
Wait for the Sim Manager to load all your contacts from Sim. Once done, highlight all the contacts, tap tools menu & select Save to Contacts. It should copy all the selected contact to your phone memory by now.
er.. dont think that was my question/answer..
but thanks for trying to help anyway ^^
I HAVE RESOLVED this problem now:
I think because there was no contact (ZERO) on my sim card memory, for some reason it didnt trigger this funtion.
So what i did to make it work was to make a new contact on the sim card with the number/contact that was also stored in my phone memory, and try call it, i realised it was showing the contact name that i had on the phone memory not the sim (as the number is the same but to distingush i make up differ name). Then i deleted the contact on my sim (back to ZERO) and try call again. NOW the caller ID shows up.
GG
So after upgrading to the cingular 2.06 rom, all the sim contacts were mixed up with my phone contacts and ofcourse there were many duplicates. So i changed [HKCU\Control Panel\Phone\ShowSIM] From 1 to 0 and now my SIM contacts aren't showing up, which is good.
BUT now when i recieve a call, say from John Smith, instead of showing me what i have saved on the device's contacts "Call From John Smith" its showing me what i have it saved on the SIM card, "JohnSmith TX" and i can't figure out how to solve it. I guess i could delete all my sim contacts but they're on my sim for backup.
Anyone know how to solve this?
I have one question. If I copy contact from phone to SIM card then I see names from phon and names from SIM card together. I don't like to see in that way but I also want to have backup of contact on my SIM card.
Could someone help me?
Bye
Borut
hi borut
download and install TrinityHacks
launch it
go to Phone tab
tick 'Hide Sim Contacts'
close TrinityHacks
you may/may not need to soft-reset before it takes effect
Someone called me, and I didn't have that number, I wanted to save it to existing contact, but when I clicked on save to existing contact, none of my sim contacts appeared. There wasn't a way to get to it either. I load all my contacts directly from my sim. Is there a way to move sim contacts to phone? or save current number to existing sim contact?
thanks.

Go to "Start/Tools/SIM Manager
The program SIM Manager is what you are looking for. (May not be in this exact directory but it shouldn't be to hard to fine. If not installed then just search for it here or on google)
When adding contacts from a call in that manner....it defaults to your phone...not your SIM
You CAN move all your contacts from the SIM to the phone by using the program listed above. Also you can use that same program to move them all back to you SIM if you so choose.
Hi
I've a noob question:
Is there a way (maybe an app) to add more than one number, Group numbers, attach an image to a contact I saved on my sim card? I'm able to set these actions on my Gmail or phone contacts but not on my sim contacts.

SIM cards were never designed for those extra features, specially photos.
there's no easy way to save all the extra numbers and pictures of a contact into a SIM card, to use it on different phones, because every phone reads the data differently.
SIM cards only store contact names per single phone number, and your own phone number along with the carrier.
Thanks, lucky there is a copy sim to phone option.
