I have semi-stupid idea to force mass storage property on PC while connecting our PDA. Not to make mass storage from PDA but from PC.
For what ?
- To handle files on PC from PDA - copying files from locked PC , or/and thousand others possibilities - ( using printer or web cam from PC .. etc )
Of course there's need of USB host possibilities in our PDA
Only problem that I have on mind is MS W... security policy on Desktop.
Maybe I'm loosing some details that are obvious for other's but for me it's very interesting and maybe possible to do.
Cheers
Afro.
I am not sure, but maybe this thread can be helpful - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480899

I found some drivers for the usb mass storage functionality.
< disclaimers >
I haven't tested it yet
( I've installed to many soft and not really wanted to do a hard reset now because didn't synchronise my data on linux - another post later about that one )

(apparently there is also a usb mouse that you could use has pointer !!!)
This has already been mentioned in the USB host thread, but thanks anyway!
Hello,
this might be a stupid question, but when I connect my X5 with a USB cable to my pc, and push the button "Turn on USB storage" nothing happens.
No drive letters or anything appears ( Pc XP, Android version 2.2.1 , build: U8800V100R001C00B136 )
For now I transfer pictures with the program Hi Suite ( that works fine ) so I think I have the correct drivers, ... ?
I know there are ftp programma's where I can transfer my data with, but I want to use my phone as a USB mass-storage, any suggestions or apps that I can use to fix this?
Thanks !
I have Samsung Focus rev 1.3 with Tango ROM running, I want to enable Mass storage mode on it. I tried following the guide here:
http://www.windowsphoneforum.net/fo...onnect-your-windows-phone-7-mass-storage.html
But however, its not detected as Mass Storage ? Anyone else have it running on custom ROM ?
Also what does mass storage mode do ? Will it help in completely bypassing Zune software, like copying music files as such without need to sync, etc? or the manually copied files are not detected by wp7?
all thats gonna do is show up as basically another hard drive , you should be able to get it , i think he left a step out , and you need to use the diagnosis app to set it ,there will be 3 settings in there ,you'll have to look for it in the dev section of wp7 I dont remember where it is!
If you know what folders hold music and pictures and what not you can place them there directly

In the most case, you will need driver for it to work properly.
- if you connect your phone to the pc as a usb storage, you will need only general usb driver, that commonly available in any pc (if the windows has been properly installed)
- if you connect to the pc to use with some specific softwares (e.g. Kies 3 or Odin), you will need Samsung usb driver, that can obtain over the Internet...
If you have wifi connection on both PC and phone at home or office, you can use Airdroid app. Really easy to use.
Hi
I'm looking for a guide to mount and transfer data (music, images) between my PC with ArchLinux and my Lumia 735.
So far, the system can detect the phone, but It cannot mount it.
On another Linux PC, with Ubuntu, I am able to mount the phone (SD + internal storage) and to transfer the data, but when I open the Music or Foto apps, I cannot see the data.
Has anybody solved these 2 issues (ArchLinux + file exchange)?
I'll admit, the idea of somebody using Linux on the PC but Windows on a phone amuses me. Not that I haven't occasionally been known to use exactly that, but not to the point of expecting them to work together (I use Windows on the PC when I need to connect my phone). I'll check next time I've got a Linux system and a USB cable in front of me...
Tip: this is a request for help, and therefore should go in the Q&A sub-forum. General would be a good place to mention if you had found a solution and wanted to share it, but Q&A is a better place to post requests. Doesn't much matter, though.
